Was a busy little diner but quick with service. Lots of waitresses. Large portions and good tasting. Pies are awesome.

There was a hair cooked into my food, they replaced that food, of course, but I wondered if it had been cooked in the same oil as the first batch. We had salads and they were brought out last. Some of the lettuce was brown and wilted but some of looked fresh. I'm sure there is something good about the meal but I had already lost my appetite and will never go back, so I'll never know. read more

Busy little diner with a friendly staff. Food was outstanding and very reasonably priced. At over 100 miles from home it will definitely be a place we go to eat when we travel this way again. The proportion are quite larger. The homemade potato chips are worth the upgrade from a standard French fry. Next time we will split the meal and leave room for pie. read more

The place isn't much to look at but the food is amazing. My wife and I split a reuben and a Philly for lunch and both were excellent. The service was also excellent - if I lived nearby this would be a regular place for me to visit - don't let the appearance put you off, you should try this place. read more

Spent the day in Boonville and had lunch yesterday with special friends at 87 Diner. It was great! Wednesday's Fried Chicken special is a family favorite! Excellent down home cookin', for sure! Lots of food for a very reasonable price. We always need a to go box. Will always try to make it to 87 Diner at least once during our visits to see our family and friends in Boonville! Best fried chicken in town, absolutely awesome!! Initial portion was one chicken breast and two wings. I didn't complain, although disappointed so I ordered another breast. It came at no charge. Mashed potatoes and green beans were home cooked as was the chicken. Someone complained in one review this place didn't serve caviar. Well folks, this isn't a mimosa and caviar kind a place. I first ate at this place about 2 weeks ago. I''m pregnant so I had pretty much everything under the sun lol! The biscuits and gravy were amazing, as were the hash browns and the sunny side up eggs. The server we had was great and our drinks were never empty. I will definitely make another appearance there in the near future and I think you all should give it a try. read more

The 87 Diner is the best truck stop you ever ate at without the pumps and semis. Take the Highway 87 exit south off I-70 (east of Boonville, west of the Missouri River), take the first right and follow the road around to the 87 on your right. Open only for breakfast and lunch (except Friday nights) Kathy and her crew give you fresh, hot food and plenty of it. The service is great, there are specials every day, and be sure to admire the big seasonal wreath on the east wall. The largest portion of the diner is non-smoking, and it's ALL non-smoking during lunch on Sundays because the church people like it that way, and so do I! Every bite was perfect. Real mashed potatoes. Hand-breaded fried chicken. The servers were exceptionally nice and efficient. We had been here before on a Friday night. A Must Stop between Kansas City and St Louis. A genuine country restaurant. Don't let the metal building fool you. We ordered the chicken dinner which was perfectly prepared, au gratin potatoes (good but wish I had mashed) and an amazing open faced roast beef sandwich with the best gravy I've had since my mothers.
