There have been multiple car break ins, maintenance stealing from apartments and a truck being stolen in the middle of the day all within the past few months. The front office staff is very rude and uptight, they do not care about anything, always on their phones and seem annoyed anytime they are asked about anything regarding their job. I've lived at this apartment complex for a few years but this past year has been awful. They have allowed BLACK MOLD to grow in my bathroom after I've put in multiple maintenance requests for the mold and for the ventilation fan in the bathroom. As I'm writing this, the mold is still present. They have also decided to start allowing garbage to pile up at the dumpsters and sit for literally WEEKS. You cannot drive to your unit or check the mail without the HORRIBLE smell of rotting food. They also have lowered their standards for tenant approval. After they opened the pool this summer they immediately started having an issue with tenants leaving GARBAGE and glass bottles around the pool. This ultimately cause the apartments to restrict access to the swimming pool. This used to be a nice complex but it has severely gone downhill in the last year. If you're looking to move into an apartment, you can find a better location, with better standards, for less rent. read more

My stay at The Abbey at Inverness was a long dreadful experience! First off, the off staff were very rude all except Ms. Melissa who is the assistant manager. The office staff wouldn't even speak to me when I would walk in until after I reported them when I was sent a email to rate their services. Moving on to the condition of the 1 bedroom apartment I stayed in. The apartment was infested with roaches. I called weekly for pest control and they would leave a card showing that they came. I continued to see the bugs, so I ordered my own professional grade bug spray. The 2 dumpsters are always overflowing with trash. This lead to people leaving lots of trash on the ground in front of the dumpster. The geese would pick at the bags which would cause trash to be everywhere. Next, the apartment has little to no insulation. For the winter months I froze my butt off in my downstairs bedroom. The sliding door for both patio doors were not sealed so air was always coming through. This caused a very expensive power bill for 3 months. When I asked for them about installing for weather stripping the maintenance guys left a report saying they completed it but there was no new weather stripping on any doors. Next. The floors were freezing cold because again lack of insulation. The upstairs bathroom has missing boards and you can see light from outside so I'm sure that why that bathroom is cold. In order for me to be able to stay in my bedroom without getting sick was to buy a space heater and put a blanket to keep the air in that room. I didn't appreciate my living conditions for the amount of money I was paying plus at $300 dollars power bill for each month the winter. The last complaint was my apartment had a loud odor from old toilets, no matter how much expensive cleaning products I used it still smelt bad. P.S, my refrigerator leaked for about 3 months before they finally replaced it. My dishwasher had rust at the bottom. I would not recommend anyone to move here. read more

We just moved in and the leasing process was very easy. Aislinn was the most amazing leasing agent we have ever worked with. She was the deciding factor of us choosing this complex. She was very detailed and helpful. She made the process of moving across country so reassuring. The leasing manager Lisa was very kind. Our apartment is spacious with amazing wood floors. I have been here for roughly 6 months. It's had its up and downs but I will say that the staff seems to do its job well. There have been some issues with pest control, the flooring, and parts of the building. A lot of it stems with the building being old and just needing an update. The hardwood laminate flooring wasn't placed correctly and shrunk during winter and the upstairs room makes creaks. The soundproofing between buildings is also really bad. Overall, this isn't a bad place to stay at as it is relatively better priced than most places. They do have a $95 fee every month but they let you know that upfront which I basically just count as part of the rent. Overall, it's nice but I am not sure I'll be renewing my lease. read more

Been here 6mos, super quiet, really nice. This weekend I had my fridge go out. Called the emergency line on Sunday, Roy Hurst called back immediately and was on my door step 20 mins after that. He figured out that the compressor was out and realizing I had a lot of money tied up in frozen food had a replacement solution within the hour. Although my frozen food all thawed out....Thanks to Roy's fast action I'll be able to salvage most. Thanks again Roy! read more

If you like your car DON'T MOVE HERE! Parking is horrendous! No assigned parking and the spots are smaller than most cars! I worked late hours and had to constantly park way away from my own apartment after long work hours. They put in hardwood floors and they started coming up around the edges of the boards. The tile in the bathrooms and kitchen started coming up too. Glad I was finally able to move. read more

I move to Birmingham from Columbus, Ohio. The Abbey was the first Apartment community that I looked at in the city (Hoover). I have lived at The Abbey for three years and never had any problems. I love the community feel. It is a very safe area. The business manage Melissa is the best. Melissa and the staff has that Southern Hospitality Finesse, and very accommodating. The apartments are beautiful. In the summertime, the pool is the hang out. I have never meet a stranger there. I have the best neighbors in the world. I work at Honda and every time someone would ask me "Where did you chose to live?" I would reply "The Abbey at Inverness" they would say nice choice. I recommend this community to anyone in the area. Thank you The Abbey for making me feel at home while I was away from home. To the possible Honda Associate that may be moving from other States, I highly recommend The Abbey at Inverness. Service wreck about moving in but the staff was unbelievably helpful and I was scared my dogs and adjust poorly but my neighbors dog and my puppy will throw balls across the balconies and play with each other. It is a outstanding pet friendly community and has been the best experience since I moved in. read more

This is the best place to live in Bham. The staff is amazing and so warm. They have been so accommodating. My sister and I relocated due to a fire at another complex. We transferred to The Abbey at Inverness and we couldn't have made a more better choice. The drive to 280 can be time consuming but it's worth it. It's very peaceful and safe. The Abbey at Inverness really has a community vibe. You will love it here. read more

We love it here! It is always peaceful. We have lived here for over 5 years and we aren't planning on leaving here anytime soon. If you are thinking of moving to Inverness or anywhere on 280, at least take a look here at the Abbey and you will definitely be impressed not only with the beauty of the property and the newly renovated apartments but also with the management and all employees. Maintenance guys are awesome, they all not only do their job, they really care. At least check it out. We also have a gym, 2 pools and a movie theatre. Oh yes, they also have 2 tennis courts and I'm almost positive they have newly renovated racquetball court! I give our little community 5 stars any and every day of the week. The move in process and leasing manager worked very well for us; however, after being there a year I am not thoroughly impressed. We have had multiple maintenance and bug problems , most of which are quickly seen about but not always fixed. It took me being extremely annoyed and frustrated to finally get some response to the issues. They have fixed some things this week, so we will see if it improves or continues until we can finish our lease. read more

The management here is horrible. I had read the reviews but the sign up bonus was a big draw so I thought why not, it can't all be bad. But then again, if there are many bad reviews then there is a reason. I had asked about the reviews and was told that their insect problem was solved and that things are better. I was then told that if I wrote a good review then I would get a gift card. I was told over and over again I was approved with conditions and tried to explain some fraud that was showing on my credit report and that it was trying to be fixed. I was sent a lease and have emails stating that I am approved for the apartment. And at the last moment I was told by Sherrye that I wasn't approved due to fraud activity on my account. She was then very condescending and told me she would have called the cops immediately. The police can only take a report. I wouldn't rent here to save my life after the treatment of the office staff. They can't do anything correctly sending other peoples information to me (including someone's date of birth and social security number) because they "messed up" a move in sheet and lease. So renter beware! You will get screwed. Update 5/21/18 - Jennifer B who works in the office will send you awful messages and stalk your account. And bless her heart she can't read a review. When you have someone take your identity and have to file a report and have it fixed, it's called fraud. Poor thing, bless her heart. She will also call you Shrek on posts. Please, if you read this, reconsider choosing this place as the apartment complex you choose. The beginning of the process was great, and I was so excited about my new home and all of the amenities it would have to offer, but this exciting feeling soon turned sour. Upon arrival with my things to move in, I discovered that I was placed in 1 of 3 apartments in the whole complex without a fire place, which was a total bummer. Then, as I am inspecting the apartment during move in, I find bleach stains all throughout my apartment's carpet. I immediately report this, and am told my carpet will be replaced and the issue documented. Both of these items never happened. Fast forward a few months, and I have a huge water leak in my apartment and my floors are ruined and mold starts to accumulate. I was told these things would be addressed. And just how were they addressed you may ask? Bleach sprayed on mold. That's it. I had to look at yellow walls and messed up floors for the entirety of my stay at the Abbey at Inverness. Fast forward again, and another water leak, more mold, and more damage. And again, all they do is spray bleach on mold. Now my cabinets are ruined, my hardwood is ruined, and I am missing several of their "peel and stick" kitchen tiles. Fast forward, and yet another water leak. Surprise surprise as to what happened with that one. While they made sure to fix the leaks, they never made sure to execute satisfactory service to a resident paying them hundreds of dollars a month. Instead, I was offered to "move out at my expense". And then upon move out, I receive no deposit refund because "there was a dark spot in the stove" (let me make sure I get on my hands and knees with a Brillo pad to scrub that for you) "there were bleach stains in the carpet" (yeah, that were there at move in which you said you would address) "there was a splash of something on a wall" (from having to kill a cockroach). And it took me reaching out to them and begging for information to even get explanation as to what was going on. Extremely disatisfied with the "customer care" and "exciting experience" I received from the Abbey at Inverness. Luckily, $100 doesn't mean that much to me, but it might mean something to someone else who really needs it. So think twice before you decide to call this place home. Edited to add: I have never had to give an business a poor report on any site, and it hurts my heart to have to do it to this place. But you all deserve to know what you are getting yourself in to. read more

I don't know what everyone is being a butt about. Not only was this the first place I lived when moving to Birmingham, AL. It is also where my Manager and half of my team live. If it was not so amazingly beautiful, my team would not live there. Yes, it is a bigger apartment community. That's why they can offer you such a wonderful new renovated apartment for what most of my apartments will charge you $1300 for. The team is the best.
