I had a surf and turf that was the special. Only $15.99 for a 8 oz ribeye and shrimp dinner. My 22 yr old daughter had a buffalo horseshoe... I've never had a bad meal or appetizer here. I've had many items on the menu! I love the ribeye special during the week. Good cut for the price $11. My boyfriend ordered the parmesan encrusted salmon and said it was the best salmon he'd had in awhile. Staff is friendly and knowledgable on all food items. My favorite restaurant in Quincy. I have always had great service and food. A very cozy atmosphere. I would say that it can sometimes be hard to take a large group, but that's because it is very popular with only a few bigger tables. Definitely go early to get those tables. Came here for dinner on a recommendation from a coworker while in town on business. Staff is nice. French onion soup is pretty good, and a HUGE portion. I had the pork tenderloin from the "lite" menu as my entree and left much to be desired. It was a ton of food for being "lite. The pork was over cooked and veggies were under seasoned. Visited Quincy more than a handful of times now and was my first time visiting The Abbey. Read a few reviews and on the advice of locals and some QU students thought why not. Now I am wondering why I did. Food is OK however menu lacks originality as nothing stood out and no specials? Waitstaff very attentive and the ordering process is flawless. Some of the reviews said the menu hasn't changed in 20 years. I can believe it. Ordered a NY strip steak and paid extra for asparagus. Steak didn't taste good boasting an acidic taste and zero flavor. Asparagus was over cooked and mushy. The steak was sent back and the manager removed from our bill. Another in our party of three had the pepper steak. Supposed to have a black pepper crust however tasted charred and not peppery. The third entree was a Cobb salad with grilled chicken. OK food overall I suppose. It was dark in the main dining area and the decor dated. read more

I used to live in Mendon and loved to go to the Abbey. I now live in Indiana and come back to visit my son's family quite a bit. We still liked going to the Abbey until last evening. It was a Friday night and we knew it would be busy. I got there first ahead of one couple and my son, his wife, 2 year old and 3 month old. I waited...which I was fine with. They readied the table and then told me they could not seat me until at least 2 other members of my party arrived. I was tired. I had driven to see my family and I was prepared to order an adult beverage and appetizer until they arrived. However, I had to wait until other members of my party arrived. When we were seated, I asked to see the manager. A nice young woman came to the table and I started to explain the situation calmly...we always come here when I am in town...we enjoy the food and atmosphere...but other times I was seated without more of my party being present and they lost an adult beverage order and at least one appetizer order with the policy. A man from the restaurant was listening...which didn't bother me, maybe she was a new manager? He didn't even allow me to finish my story and called her away. No apology. Nothing. I didn't raise my voice. I wasn't looking for free food. I just wanted them to know they missed a sale with their policy...which by the time we got seated...no one else was waiting. I pointed that out, too. I won't go back now. An apology goes a long way and the rudeness of that man was more than I should have to deal with in the service industry. My son said...that's Quincy. This place is always packed because it is one of the best places in town. Great food, atmosphere, and drinks; this place hits a home run. I get the Parmesan crusted salmon and the fiancé gets the tortellini. It's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu but these are our favorites. Also my fiancé will RAVE about the ranch sauce there if you are a ranch aficionado. A fresh loaf of bread comes out with most meals and is served warm with butter. You won't be disappointed if you chose to come here. read more

I am a tough grader - so 3 stars is A-Ok!. Might equal other peoples 4 stars so you probably won't be disappointed. It is good food for a reasonable price with good service. But keep in mind it is a dark bar that is many years old. Lots of TV's so a great place to watch a game. read more

I agree with my husband when he told me after eating here that he would give the Abbey 3.5 stars. We had to wait about 15 minutes due to the Saturday night crowd, which was fine, but there was no waiting area, meaning that we and two other couples had to stand awkwardly pushed against the side of the small entrance hallway while staff and patrons walked through inches away from us. It was pretty dark inside with cramped seating and loud patrons, whose voices reverberated through the small restaurant interior. I felt a little like I was in the middle of a hurricane because the wait staff moved so quickly and spoke so loudly. I was slightly annoyed with the mediocre style of pop music they chose to play and would have preferred something more along the lines of classic rock to fit the atmosphere. The food was relatively pricey but generally enjoyable. The nachos had chunks of inexpensive, bland beef on them, but I enjoyed the flavor of the cheese. Although my shrimp were overcooked, my filet was juicy, tender, and cooked to order. Overall, the menu does not have a lot of selection or ingenuity, but the food is decent. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Quincy. Upon moving here recently from South Carolina it was highly recommended by friends and family here. The mozzarella sticks are to die for and the food is good hearty pub vibe food. We're flabbergasted and quite frankly sick to our stomachs by what we just experienced, it is BEYOND COMPREHENSION and warrants being told. Everyone has told us, as new Quincy residents, to go to The Abbey. In fact, we received two gift cards to the group of establishments for Christmas. As patrons tonight we had both unsatisfactory bar beverages and service. When we received our check we were charged for drinks we'd returned. We paid the full ticket, including for the drinks we sent back, but we simply asked the waitress if it's the policy to charge for something sent back. She said she "asked the owner and he said we did have to pay for it." So, we asked if we could speak to him and she said "No, he's cooking at the grill and we're short-staffed." After sharing with her that we would not be tipping her based on her poor service and the charge for the drinks she got visibly upset stating that it was not her fault, that she'd still have to tip the bar and that she was really upset and she walked away. I began writing a note to the owner on a receipt when suddenly an extremely irate man, who later told us he was the owner, approached our table and began yelling at us telling us we'd made his waitress cry in the kitchen. We were so caught off guard and also (literally) stuck in the corner! It was so unbelievable and we were both immediately defensive and honestly, fearful! He was completely out of control, he was extremely aggressive to the point where he was making a scene, humiliating us and himself and I was repeatedly telling him that he was being both abusive and unprofessional as we made our way to the door. He continued, telling us we were calling his waitress a liar and that he was going to "bring her out here!"We did not know what to do but decided to continue to leave. It was by far the most humiliating and disgraceful customer experience of our lives! I'm certain a prompt reply by the establishment refuting "our story" is to come because clearly at these establishments the customer is not only wrong but also should feel in fear of attack for asking a question regarding their bill. Given that restaurant options in Quincy are limited we, by no means, expect this to diminish patronage at The Abbey. We write in hopes that someone carefully reflects on the outrageous behavior we experienced this evening and that no one else has to be victim of it. read more

This is more of a bar after 9 PM than restaurant. The atmosphere is conducive to having a good time. Stay away from very loud Karaoke on Wednesday nights. The food is always good with large portions and a lot of options. They stick with American dishes and do it right. The service leaves much to be desired. read more
