My wife and had a great meal at the Patio on 6/13/26. We both had the prime rib with the Patio salad and baked potato. The prime rib was excellent we ordered the 10 oz it was plenty of food and we brought home leftovers. I like what the new owners have done to the interior keeping much of the historic ambiance in a nod to the original owners while putting a fresh approach to the interior. This is a Quincy gem and deserves to be on the short list of where to dine when looking for a true white table cloth restaurant. read more

What a disappointment! We had planned and reserved a wonderful birthday dinner with family, only to end up waiting two hours for our meals. There was a party of 45 being served, but the rest of the dining room was left completely unaware of the situation or the reason for the delay. A simple heads-up to each table BEFORE ordering would have been the appropriate and courteous approach. Our server was kind and did her best, but she was clearly frustrated--especially after sharing that the owner was in the restaurant DINING during all of this. Unfortunately, half of my family had to leave due to the unexpected long delay. After waiting an additional thirty minutes and repeatedly trying to get our server's attention through another staff member, and trying to flag her down , we ultimately gave up. My husband left $100 on the table to cover the drinks and a tip, more than enough. As we exited, he--being a restaurant owner for 35 years--turned toward the patio and waved goodbye, signaling that he will never return. It takes quite a lot for him to feel that way. Tonight I returned to The Patio in Quincy, IL, a place that holds deep childhood memories for me. This was my first visit since the new ownership took over, and I brought my fiancé to share the experience. The professionalism and care truly stood out. When our food did not come out the way we expected, the staff noticed right away and asked for our feedback. The way it was handled turned it into the best service experience we've ever had. Everything was delicious. Best espresso martini we've ever had! I'm proud to come back to my hometown and see what the new ownership has created. From start to finish our evening at The Patio was fantastic. Our server, Meghan, was knowledgeable about the menu and the intricacies of the Gluten Friendly menu which is important as my wife has Celiac. The grilled shrimp was done perfectly and our salads were ample and flavorful. I had a "small" ribeye which mostly came home in a takeaway bag because it was so big! And dessert...... I went here years ago before they updated everything to be Instagram picturesque, and it was crap then and the food hasn't changed. The food isn't fresh, flavorful, innovative, exciting. It seems to be exactly like it was before. Do they have chefs that really CARE or do they have chefs that are just collecting a paycheck? I deleted my old review because it was harsh, and my friend said it was all updated now. But I went back there and it's just nicer on the inside. I'm going there for the food, not a photo shoot. Just had breakfast there for the first time. It was very good and I will certainly go back. Andre was our server, very kind and attentive. Food was served quickly, was hot, and very fresh ingredients were used. Sat at the bar bartender was great. Very prompt! Have a couple Bombay sapphire martini and he stuffed blue cheese olives for us. I had the catfish it was large portion and excellent. My fries were cold but probably would not have eaten them anyway. Brussels sprouts well done. Look, you gotta get better than this if you're charging Chicago prices. This is our fourth time at the "new" Patio. We love the new decor. The bathrooms are fabulous, and it could be a destination except...the food! We were a table of four tonight, three with appetizers. For entrees, we had pesto shrimp pasta (pretty tasteless) and Tennessee hamburger (tasty, but small burger with bacon but only four potato fries that weren't particularly cooked well.) The new manager came over, and one of our party complained about her appetizer. She had no truffles in her truffle fries. He just walked away. So, get better. read more

We were visiting Quincy from Indianapolis to celebrate the life of a friend. Prior to our arrival my husband emailed The Patio to request they make a special cocktail that he loves. (Hemingway Daiquiri). The replied saying that not only will they make it, they would make it the drink special that weekend. Right out of the gate, they earned five stars for customer service. Also, they nailed the daiquiri. The space itself is so fun. Very Insta-Worthy. Themed rooms. Cute neon signs. Fun music. The service was spot on from beginning to end. The food was wonderful. Not your parents' Patio! If your family is like mine, you've marked occasions by dining at Quincy's Patio Restaurant during the past 60 years. That is where we mourned my mother's death in 1996 in a private room before her funeral. Two generations of Neiswenders owned it from 1958 until 2019 when Mark and Kim Neiswender retired. Mark's parents, Dave and Rita Neiswender, were the original owners of the business which then included the Hotel Elkton and a nightclub. New owners (Quincy native) Ryan Jude Tanner and Jay Krottinger reopened this spring. If the old Patio was about tired tradition, the new Patio is upbeat, sophisticated, and beautifully decorated. It would be at home in St. Louis, Chicago, or perhaps even New York. The music is contemporary, beat-driven. The table are lit with cordless mushroom shaped lamps that have multiple levels of illumination. Although the restaurant is on a lower level, the new owners discovered windows that had previously been covered up. There are rooms of varying light. It's Disco with a sun room. The bar is well-stocked; the wine list curated. Yes, they still have the signature iceberg salad and the pork chops, which neither ever appealed to me. (There are no nutrients in iceberg lettuce and my beloved mother cooked pork chops into submission.) But the rest of the menu, which is still evolving, is Midwestern, with more than a touch of gourmet. Don't be afraid of entering here. Jeans are worn. It's a beautiful experience, really, from the staff greeting to service. Go. Celebrate your occasions. Or just your day. read more

The Patio has become our go to place on Friday nights! Upscale food and atmosphere that is warm and welcoming. Our food is always prompt, fresh, and hot, and of course delicious. The poke bowl is a favorite of mine and my husband enjoys the sliders. When they added cheese curds, I was theirs. The staff is friendly and engaging. There isn't a part of your evening that hasn't been given thought by this team, and it shows from the moment you walk in to the foyer until you leave. Our sides were tasty and plentiful; a table for two can plan on sharing a pair to complement their entrees. The wine list is smartly curated with a great selection. The wait staff is knowledgeable, attentive and made our evening a lot more enjoyable. Overall, this is a fun, elevated dining experience. Our advice for your first trip to the "new" Patio? Don't just grab a main course and a drink. Go all in -- early cocktail, appetizer, order some wine, entrée and sides, then finish up with dessert. My husband and I had a nice little date night here while we were in town visiting. Drinks and appetizers were tasty.

We had a really fun night dining at The Patio. This was our fifth wedding anniversary and we were in from out of town. We had no preconceived ideas about this place and just found it on yelp. Tip for having a great evening: If you come here, you need to embrace it all for what it is. Which is - a restaurant that began in 1959 and has literally the same decor and menu, as it did on day 1. And that's awesome! Like, you've got to make that part of the experience. And if you do, it will be a great dining experience. Trust me. Our server was Jenny, who is granddaughter of the owner, and after I asked, she told us all the scoop about her grandfather opening the restaurant and her grandma doing all the interior design and decor. Such a fun family story with such a great history! She is lovely and I would highly recommend you request her to be your server. Which, not surprisingly, is the first question they ask when you walk in "do you have a server preference?" With a question like that, you know it's got a cult following. My husband had the prime rib and I had the pecan crusted salmon. Portions were very generous and prices were commensurate for the type of meat and size of meal. I do not believe it was overpriced for what we got. Both came with a large salad and potato. The house salad dressing is amazing and they put the right amount of dressing on. We both had house wine; which were priced lower than we're accustomed to. Perhaps under other circumstances I may have been questioning the dated decor, style of cuisine, or critical of the over-cooked salmon, but all the merits of this nearly 60 year old establishment far overshadow those minor details. It was a lovely experience for a nice dinner out for our anniversary and all the ambiance and meal choices added to it! Such a fun and tasty dining experience with 5 stars from me. We hosted a 50th anniversary dinner for my parents and about 30 people in their larger banquet room. Mark and his staff did an outstanding job with the room set-up and suggesting how to plan for the evening, right down to the timing of the toast. My parents have eaten at The Patio since the days they were dating. As a kid, my dad would make a reservation for 4 - "bar side" - every Saturday night and another couple would join them (I was dropped at grandma's on the way). The menu is traditional supper club style. You can order steak, chicken or fish with choice of potato or salad. They also have some pasta choices. They make a good brandy old fashioned. The house Cabernet is excellent. Mark suggested the appetizer platter as guests arrived and mingled. I was a bit nervous since everything in it was fried: onion rings, toasted ravioli, egg rolls, mushrooms plus some (not fried) meatballs. However, the breading was not at all heavy and every item had really good individual flavor. My brother mentioned he hadn't eaten a fried mushroom for 20 years and couldn't believe how good it was. With our size of group, Mark suggested we allow guests to order dinner from the full menu. I'm glad he did this so that everyone could eat what they wanted. Usually with a group this size, a restaurant would restrict us to only 2-3 entrees. I was impressed with how efficiently they served us. We never felt like part of the group was behind the rest. This speaks to what a well-oiled machine they are, with career servers and management. I ordered the grilled salmon. I have a love-hate relationship with salmon and find it easy to get sub-par salmon in restaurants. This salmon was EXCELLENT. In fact, I've been craving it all day and wish I could eat there again tonight. I really cannot say enough about the excellent food and outstanding service we received. They are the reason the 50th anniversary dinner was such a huge success! THANK YOU! read more

Ambiance here hasn't changed in 20 years, but aside from the white, hard as concrete chairs the food is still as delicious as I remember. Enjoyed the 2" pork chop along with the house salad with triscuits :-) Good service and they were slow for a weeknight. As in we were one of 3 tables there at 630. Weirdly enough they sat all the tables in the same section right next to one another. Would have been nice to have some privacy in our conversation, but we were seated first. read more

It has the feel of some of those nice upstate NY resort town restaurants that were popular in the 70's and 80's but have stood the test of time because of good classic food and service. I came here with a larger party so maybe that's why my experience was so bad. The ambiance is strange but inviting as was the music. The wait staff was apathetic at best. I ordered the 10oz new York strip, that came with salad and potato. $25!. I was expecting a nice steak, I got a tiney potato, I mean super small. The salad was equivilant to what you would get at your grade school cafeteria. Lastly the steak was absolute garbage.
