Had an issue with the air handling leaking water anytime the ac turned off. Water was leaking from the unit into the second pan. I had cleared out the lines but unit still leaked. My fear was that there was a clog somewhere in the air handler itself. AC guys came highly recommended in our neighborhood and gave them a call late Saturday evening to schedule an appointment. Talking through tje issue, they helped me troubleshoot some things and when those didn't work, the appointment was set for the next morning. Chris swing by promptly at the scheduled time and quickly diagnosed the issue. There was a clog and he was able to resolve it rather quickly and added a section of pipe to resolve future issues faster. Matt and his crew are first rate techs who know HVAC forwards, backwards and upside down, who will be there when you need them - even outside of the usual business hours, AND are ethical & straight when it comes to doing business. I'm confident you will never be overcharged, billed for extra time, or sold something you don't need with these people. If you need HVAC service in their service area, they are definitely the company to choose - hands down. We were in the midst of a 100°F+ heat wave in July, and I have a severe medical issue (RSD) that makes an AC failure an emergency - not an inconvenience. My home warranty company knew this and had put my claim on emergency priority status, so any needed repairs would be approved within hours. I was fortunate to have been assigned the AC guys by my Home Warranty company (Old Republic) after another company (Killenair) came out to my house on the initial service call and then completely failed to take any action whatsoever - after a week they had never ever called in their initial report to Old Republic. After Matt was assigned my case he came out and quickly diagnosed that the initial problem was the inside air handling unit. Now on a 35 year old system he could have easily made a lot more money for himself by installing a whole new inside air handling unit - it would have been approved, but Matt isn't one to spend anybody's money when he doesn't have to. He found a way to replace only the blower motor and wire it into the existing system. He did this work on his own bench and was at my house until late Saturday evening wiring it in - far past normal working hours (going above and beyond for their customers, and being very frugal with everyone's money). This fix worked for a couple of days until it uncovered a giant leak in the heat exchanger. Again, they quickly ordered only the parts that were needed. They expeditiously replaced the exchanger and at my request left the old one (with its valuable copper & core) and they didn't overcharge me for the very expensive replacement freon charge (old system - uses old freon). My repairs were done are quickly as were humanly possible, by smart techs who knew exactly what they were doing and could explain everything to me. Neither I, nor the insurance company was charged a dime more than was absolutely necessary, and best of all - two months later, and the system has not hiccuped once. I still have a 35 year old AC system that is expensive as hell to run, but I know I didn't compound that cost by paying extra to fix it. And when I want to replace it - I know I am going to call, and who YOU SHOULD CALL TOO! The AC Guys. I had a problem with the heat in my house and reached out on January 7. They responded quickly and I was feeling good that they would help me. A few days later I reached out again and a couple days after that, I reached out again and they did not respond. Now it has been eight days since they said they would help me but nothing has happened. They only tried to reach out once I had published a response to their bad business practices on their website....Then they tried to call me. This is not a business that I will be involved with. Matt came out to help us with our AC issues about 30 minutes after I talked with him and was the only company to get back with me and was willing to come out immediately even though it was after hours! (It's hot in Texas and when your AC goes out, it's no joke!) He was able to get us up and running again with some Frion and some cleaning of the outside unit, but let us know the problem probably had something to do with the breaker. We found out he was right a few weeks later! These guys know what they are doing and are customer service pros! We won't hesitate to call them for our future HVAC needs! I had the best experiences with The AC Guys. 2 weeks ago, Matt came over (precisely on scheduled time) and he did tune-up on my unit. He cleaned my AC unit outside, made sure no dust or grass on the unit. He told me the Freon was low, and unfortunately my unit was older. He explained to me how the older model using more expensive freon. He also told me that my unit is still good. Should have about 4-7 more years of life, no promises of course. He also answered my questions about installing Nest. He showed me his Nest system on his phone, exactly like my house, 1 AC unit and 2 thermostats for upstair and downstair. Anyway, today I installed my Nest. Wired by wired, carefully. When I turned it on, its blowing hot air instead of AC. I was freaking out. I looked up on Nest website and it didnt really explain whats going on. I called Nest, and i was on hold forever. Since I had to leave the house, I just texted Matt. He replied and said maybe the wiring was wrong. So I sent him picture of the wiring to Nest. Next thing I know, withing 5 minutes, Brett called me. He told me he's with AC guys and from the wiring, he told me what to move. He also told me to call him when I'm connecting the wire so he can tell me what options to do on the Nest itself. I did exactly that, he told me over the phone and VOILA, AC back on!!! Again, this was on Sunday afternoon. Matt and Brett didn't have to do what they did. But yet, they helped me out as a previous customer over the phone, though it was simple fix. That's what I called customer service. Actually, i concur with most of the reviews regarding the AC guys quick response when my AC stopped working. Brett showed up the same day I called and spent quite a bit of time diagnosing the problem and talking me through the issues. He was very polite and knowledgable and I was excited to have found a new AC company. At that point I was poised to give them a 5 star rating and refer them to all my friends. However, I actually asked them to give me a bid on replacing my AC system in my guest house. Brett said they would have me an estimate in a few days. A week later I had heard nothing, so I called and Brett informed me that they had been very busy and he hadn't gotten to it yet. Just before he hung up he said. " Ill have your estimate to you by Friday. Friday came and went. I waited another week. NO CONTACT. When I called back again, he assured me that he was " working on the estimate right now" and promised me I would have it before the close of business. I waited another week with no communication. When I called back, I got much the same story. Sorry, been busy, will get your estimate out tomorrow. I then waited another week No contact, no phone call, nothing. For FOUR straight weeks this went on. Then after my latest call, they said they would be here yesterday at 3 pm We took off from work to be here, and at 6 pm we got a call saying they were on the way. We had already given up and headed out to dinner. In summary, I was quite happy with the initial response to come fix my AC. But they clearly were not interested in installing a new system. And they didn't even have the courtesy to contact me when they missed deadlines on multiple occasions. We have given up and have other outfits giving us bids. The other three companies we called were on site within a day and have already given us estimates. read more
