After an unpleasant experience with our former company, which had been bought out by a larger, sales-first company, I contacted Dash Service Company on the recommendation of our neighborhood contacts. David responded right away and came out to our place to inspect our furnaces. He gave me solid, practical and pragmatic advice about the furnaces. He did not try to upsell anything, or pitch products or services that were unnecessary. I put him in the contact list under "HVAC" and removed the previous company. Fast-forward to summer 2023, and I contacted Dash again for inspection of our AC units and to troubleshoot a longstanding problem with an overheated front room. David couldn't make it out to the house himself, but sent one of his trusted technicians to assist. Turned out the previous company had crimped the duct under the refrigerant line and the insulation to such an extent that the cool air was barely flowing into the room in question. After a thorough re-routing of the duct, all is well in the room (at least as well as possible for an east-facing room in Austin). We're also working with David on what is likely to be a replacement for one of our units, as it's no longer cooling as it should and is likely in the last stages of compressor failure. Will update the review based on how that goes. For now, I'm more than pleased with the quality of Dash Service Company. read more

Just the facts: - A/C froze - Dash: Your expansion valve needs to be replaced for $500 (part and labor). - 2nd Opinion: Your expansion valve is fine and would cost $300. - Dash: You should really replace the entire coil for $1200 (labor only; part in-warranty) because Trane says this model is defective. - 2nd Opinion: You don't need to replace your coil; Trane has no recalls on it; it would cost $750. - Dash: $149 diagnostic charge - including Yelp discount - 2nd Opinion: $0 diagnostic charge (others: $80 range, rebated) 2nd and final opinion (Trane certified): Wait and see. Appears that system wasn't properly vacuumed during installation. May resolve itself. If not, do an isolation test for blockages or leaks for $250. read more

8:30PM at one night in July, I noticed that my compressor was not working. It SOUNDED like it was working, but in fact the fan motor was not turning. In Texas, this is a bad thing, right? Well, you're darned right it's bad....especially when it is 195 degrees outside! I called Dash (based on their outstanding reviews on YELP) and David called me back in about ~2 minutes FLAT. Wow! Good news was he could come right over. I asked him what the overtime rate was, and I know better than to cut corners on A/C. If I decided NOT to do this would mean a certain mutiny by my wife and kids in my future. I told him "Yes, let's do this...." and he arrived 15 mins later. Good news for me was that my +10 year old system only had a bad capacitor - and he JUST HAPPENNED to have a replacement on his truck. New cap installed in about 15 mins. Cold air blowing within 20 minutes after he arrived!! After checking the freon level (he added 2 lbs.) and looking over the regulator - he was done in 1 hour flat - literally 1 hr 15 mins from when I first noticed the problem. Everything you want to know about a business you can learn from it's owner... Memorial Day weekend I spend ALL day on the lake. I come home and my house is about 90 degrees and not getting any cooler. I'm utterly miserable. I do some research online and according to the website I found I need a new compressor and it will most likely cost $2000. I was somewhat unhappy, to say the least. I actually found Dash on Yelp and due to their high reviews I gave them a call in the morning. At about 11:30 they show up and I talk to my serviceman and it turns out he actually owns the company! Pay close attention here: the owner of the business chose to work Sunday of Memorial Day weekend rather than make one of his employees work. I told him that I'd done some research and that I was prepared to spend the $2000 to fix my AC but he ran some checks and finally solved the problem for the princely sum of $160. I can not say enough positive things about Dash. I was in a position to be taken advantage of and instead the owner himself showed up on a holiday weekend to fix my air conditioner for a nominal fee. Drip, drip: never good. Air conditioner, struggles. Hindered by poor care. Monday, the backed up sink gets fixed. Tuesday, sitting in my home office working on a PowerPoint presentations (yes, yes, I am a loser corporate drone), I hear *drip, drip*. NOT from the bathroom, but from what appears to be the closet in which the furnace is housed. Eventually, I notice that the dripping occurs each time the air conditioner kicks. Which is practically constantly, but go with me. So, I go to Yelp and find that there really aren't a lot of highly rated air conditioner repair services. I decide to go with Dash, who has 4.5 stars. When I call, I get Jeanette, who is one of the owners. She patiently asks me questions about the source of the *drip, drip* and schools me on the fundamentals of air conditioning. Her diagnosis: a clogged drain pipe. She informs me that she can have a tech out there within a couple of hours, but I will need to turn the air conditioner off. I sweat and sweat. And then Bryant arrives. He is quick, efficient and professional. He gets to work blowing out the drain pipe. Apparently, this is something that should be done each year. I shudder to think of the last time we did this. Just because you are a corporate drone doesn't mean you know anything practical. Net-net: Bryant got us cool again. So, its been quite the terrible year for me on the air conditioner front. I've had Dash A/C come out three different times for two properties and a total of 3 air conditioners over the past year. (including this morning) Overall I would say they do a very good job and Ive never been taken aback by their pricing. Both the owner and Pablo are both quite knowledgeable and friendly to deal with. I suppose this is why I keep calling them whenever I have a problem. Today, Pablo replaced a fan motor and did some general "checking" to make sure the a/c was working. He was friendly and worked quite quickly.... when he left, the bill was lower than I was expecting and cool air was blowing again in my rental unit. :) Overall, I recommend this company to everyone who asks about air conditioning repair people. :) I also like the fact that this is a mom/pop type shop... I like to support those businesses when I can. While I havent been moved to tears by these guys, I can surely say that I wont call anyone else ever again to fix my stuff. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dash. In no other venue of service have I experienced the kindness, hard work, honor and professionalism that I experienced with them. The owner himself, David, hurried out to diagnose and do what he could for our AC less than an hour after we called. He explained all of what was going on with the machine and outlined our options thoroughly. (I even asked him if we might just be better off looking into getting a whole new system installed, and he assured me that no, that wasn't going to be necessary.) I called again when we decided what we were going to do and the serviceman, Bryant arrived right on time the next morning, giving us a call when he was on his way. After dealing with cable and other repairmen who give you a window of service that's usually four to six hours and still may not be accurate, this was such a breath of fresh air. Bryant was kind and courteous and set to work right away. The job took the quoted time and actually came in well under budget. David stopped back to check the work and make sure we were satisfied when the job was done. I have never been more pleased. An honest, reliable repairman makes all the difference. It takes away so much of the stress of the expense when you feel like you're getting the best and no one is attempting to trick you. Have you ever been moved to tears by a service company? I mean in a good way? It's July and we're in the middle of a horrible heat wave and my AC bites it. It's Friday. Menopausal women and no AC in Texas is a very bad thing. I called the company I had been using and I was really put off by their horrible customer service - I've had multiple problems with them and this was the last straw. So now I'm stuck trying to find someone new when everyone is backed up for several days. From Janette who answered my frantic calls and Pablo the tech who went right to the source of my problem- this company outdid themselves. Initially they thought they wouldn't be able to schedule me in and gave me the names of some other companies to call - but they were all booked until the following week. I called back and pleaded to be put on their waiting list. They were able to squeeze me in that afternoon. Pablo was very thorough and cleaned and checked the system for leaks after he replaced the failed capacitor and their price was very reasonable. Our AC went out last Sunday and I immediately got on Yelp to find a good place. This one was rated the highest and let me tell you, there was a reason for that. Sunday evening I placed the call and the answering service picked up right away. I told them the issue and they said they'd have a tech call me back asap. He called within 10 minutes and told me they'd call me first thing in the morning, which they did. Unfortunately I missed the call and didn't notice the voicemail until 7:30pm. I called back and got an answering machine as I expected. Then about 5 minutes later I got a call from Jeanette, a super nice lady who explained their process and prices and promised to try and set me up for an appointment within the next day. Early in the morning she called me back and told me there was a cancellation in my area and the tech could come right away. A really cool dude named Mitchell showed up and finished the repairs in less than an hour. I even got a 15 dollar discount for finding them on Yelp! He installed my new unit when my old builder grade unit quit one summer and what a difference in the electric bill and temp! Fantastic. My furnace fan went out so we lost AC. The woman who answered the phone could not have been nicer. The regular repair guy was busy so she got the owner to come and he arrived very soon as promised. Although my furnace is old, he proposed a replacement and wrote up the estimate. I said yes and he was back in an hour. The fan had a piece of steel on the side that was cracked. This would have involved another trip or quite possibly posed the problem of becoming unserviceable (read new furnace). The owner pulled out some welding tools from another compartment on his truck and simply rebuilt the brace. It has been three weeks. All is working well. They called another company *cough, ARS *cough, to come out first thing in the morning to check it out. After looking at the unit, the tech called me and quoted around $2000 to fix it. Shocked, I called my usual repair guy, and he was unavailable. So I jumped on Yelp and based on the reviews gave Dash a call. I wasn't disappointed. I can't believe the customer service of this company. During the freeze on Thursday when the temperatures were dropping and all the roads were closed because of ice and sleet, my electricity bleeped and my thermostat stopped working which meant my furnace wasn't working. I checked the circuit breaker and everything was still on. I called and left a message with Jeanette and didn't expect a call back because I was sure they were inundated with other calls. In less than 30 minutes, Dave called me back. Right before he called, my furnace started working again. Even though it said it was working, it showed 65 degrees on the thermostat and then went down to 64 degrees. He explained why this might be doing that and also offered to come check it out if it didn't seem to heat. Fortunately, it continued to heat and I didn't need him to come out. I was so over-the-top impressed with the level of customer service and attention to detail that Dash provided. In the middle of the night my compressor starting making a horible screeching sound. I called Dash based on Yelp reviews and the owner was on time to meet me that next day. I appreciated that he worked quickly and respected the fact that I was paying by the hour- I'm talking jogging around in 107 degrees to get the job done quickly. Once everything was fixed, he took the extra time to explain proper upkeep for my HVAC system and rinsed out all the coils surrounding the compressor so that it would cool more easily. So cool. I don't know enough about HVAC systems to know if it was a good deal (roughly $300 to take it apart and replace a broken blade) but I felt like I got my money's worth and it was a good experience. Called for a general check up, Mitchell was here within the hour! Polite, focused, quick. No upsell, no BS.... Even got a discount for finding them here on Yelp! However, 30 minutes after he left my ceiling began to rain down water. He apparently had stepped on and broke the drain line and all the water that should have drained started pouring out of our vent. He came back immediately and repaired. Thank goodness. Fast forward 2 days and our downstairs ceiling began to drip. Apparently when he blew the drain line out it shoved all the accumulated algae into the pipe in our guest bath where our AC apparently drains. Our bathroom flooded and leaked through the floor. What was just an AC check up has turned into a plumbing, cabinet AND ceiling repair nightmare! :( I'm not upset with Dash, but I originally called to have some peace of mind before a vacation. Our heater wasn't coming on properly, so we weren't sure if it was the thermostat or the system itself. Turned out it was only a dirty sensor. He cleaned it and checked out both heaters (we have two as we have a two story house). He wasn't trying to make a fast buck and even gave me some unsolicited advice about air filters. He did charge to come out to my house as it is pretty far out, but I had no problem.
