I really enjoyed my stay at The Adolphus in downtown Dallas. It's a beautiful, luxurious hotel with so much historic character and gorgeous décor throughout. I can definitely see why it would be a popular choice for weddings, special events, or even just taking beautiful photos. The location is also great and very walkable. It's near the AT&T Discovery District and right across from The Exchange Food Hall, so there are plenty of options nearby. The hotel itself also has several places to eat and drink, including Rodeo Bar, which always seemed to be packed whenever I walked by! I was really interested in doing afternoon tea at The French Room, but unfortunately I wasn't able to experience it this trip. I tried calling to make a reservation but wasn't able to get through, and when I stopped by in person, they were already booked. There is also a dress code, and since I was already on my way out and wasn't dressed for tea, I couldn't just pop in. Definitely something I would recommend planning and reserving ahead of time if it's on your list. The room was very nice and clean, with a sitting area and couch plus a separate sleeping and bathroom area. It was a comfortable size, although I wouldn't have minded a little more space. I'm sure they have larger room and suite options available as well. One thing I did find a little strange was that when I arrived on Wednesday, there were used glasses sitting outside a room in the hallway. They remained there throughout my entire stay and were still there when I left on Friday. My room was being cleaned during my stay, so I was surprised that no one picked them up over those couple of days. It was a small detail, but something I wouldn't really expect at a hotel of this level. I also visited the spa during my stay and had a great experience. The staff throughout the hotel were very kind and welcoming. I didn't get a chance to check out the pool, so I'll have to save that for another visit. Overall, The Adolphus is a beautiful, upscale hotel in a great downtown Dallas location. Between the historic architecture, décor, restaurants, spa, and walkability, there's a lot to enjoy without even leaving the property. There were a couple of small service details that could have been better, but overall I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely return and next time I'm making my tea reservation early! read more

Ambience: Found out that Queen Elizabeth stayed here a few decades ago, which adds a bit of history to the hotel. There's a nice café, a fashion boutique, and an excellent location for watching World Cup matches and joining the celebrations. A side note: the shower has some of the best shampoo and soap dispensers I've ever used. Service: The brunch restaurant's service is spotless. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with big smiles, warm welcomes, and attentive staff who regularly check in to make sure everything is perfect. Wow! Cant say enough wonderful things about the Adolpus. I just overheard a lady a breakfast say she is extending her trip NINE days and I understand why! First off, the French restaurant is amazing. My server Kudir said he was only on his second day at work there but his attentiveness and enthusiasm for his workplace seemed like he had been there forever. We hope to return to the restaurant again today and will request him. Food, wine, so good as well. Check in a room was amazing. Got upgraded to a huge room because I booked through Chase the Edit. No complaints. The value for what you get at this hotel is amazing. There's a courtesy car to take you anywhere within three miles for free. So cool! The decor; the vibe all 10/10. So much love and care and knowledge of antique and curation went into this hotel and it's meant to be SEEN, STAYED AT, EATEN AT, all of the above. Overall, positive experience at The Adolphus while traveling for work. I was warmly greeted for having Bonvoy status, and got a room upgrade notice ahead of my arrival. While pricy (room and coffee shop / restaurant), the hotel is centrally located Downtown and had reasonable hours to accommodate traveler schedules. Also the room I had was quite spacious, even if the random pillar in the room impacted the aesthetic. Would stay here again! read more

I was looking at the post of area Yelp friends this morning when I noticed a check in from Kurt V. Curious,I thought I'd look back at my review from a stay a few years ago. To my surprise, another missing review. Now,I'm not sure why these are removed especially since most are 4 star. I will not and can't replicate that one,but will summarize The Adolphus experience. Born and raised in Dallas,one of my earliest memories of the Adolphus was walking by with my grandmother while shopping downtown in the 1960s. I could tell there was something special going on as there was a sharply dressed doorman just like in the movies. Jump forward to the 1980s and the Adolphus became a customer. Routine monthly visits there allowed me to explore places most don't see. For example,floors underground in the basement,the huge old brick boilers remain as part of the original 1912 structure. Or,the enormous copper balls you see from the street on the roof. Until you walk up to them,you would never know how massive they are Then there's the famous French Room. Unfortunately it's fantastic French Baroque interior has been remodeled. I think that was a mistake. But,I did dine there in it's original state . Which brings me to historic hotel stays. You have to be prepared to accept things that used to be common but are rejected these days. Such as smaller rooms and bathrooms,lower ceilings,limited views etc. However,the suites at the Adolphus are fantastic. I had the opportunity to stay in one with a walk out balcony in the 1990s and it was the best historic hotel experience of my life. I also stayed in 2016 in a remodeled room that was nice but just a room. Overall the experience of Downtown stay at a once Grand Dame Hotel is always fun. Just align your expectations and enjoy. Loved the customer experience here. Great coffee shop inside. They have a 45 min daily tour but I didn't have time for it. Room was nice comfy and I enjoyed the view of the green park area with a view of the eye (I think) and the jumbo train that showed beautiful art pieces. There's a lovely spa and rooftop pool. I waded in it a bit too cool off, but the water looked a bit sus and not very fresh. I wish I hadn't gone in but oh well. Great service at the pool bar and I loved my apps while I sun bathed. Enjoyed the music playing. It was pretty bustling on a Sunday day. If I could get a great price as I did this time, I would def stay again!!! read more

From the moment we walked into this place it was such a unique experience. The velvet and the jewel tones and the way everything hugged was wonderful. Good food on premises great restaurant good bars and a cute little shop. The room was comfortable nothing majorly special, but good.Yes with a Magnifier I can find all sorts of things not great including the pool was closed, but it's a great hotel with a great atmosphere and really good food on the site. read more

I've stated this location quite a few times, the experience is always top-notch. I've been having breakfast at the breakfast bar quite regularly and the team member that's taking care of me. Quite a few times is Rito. His service is always 10 out of 10, he's super polite, friendly, and accommodating. This line of business is not an easy one and yet Rito always make sure his customers have a great experience, smiles, and shakes hands with people to get personable. Had the pleasure of being served by Zach at the Rodeo Bar at the Adolphus Hotel on a Sunday afternoon and he was an absolute standout. We stopped in for lunch while walking through the city and from the moment we sat down, Zach made the experience genuinely enjoyable. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and took the time to walk us through our options without making us feel rushed or like an inconvenience, which is so rare and so appreciated. When we had food modification requests, he handled them without missing a beat. The audio in the bar went out at one point and he managed that hiccup with complete calm and a great sense of humor, which honestly just added to the experience. Great personality, phenomenal customer service, and the kind of attentiveness that makes you want to come back. Zach is exactly the kind of server who elevates a meal from good to memorable. I attended a conference at this hotel last week. I have lived in this area since 1999 and this was the first time I have been here. Let me just say the service everywhere was top tier! The front desk, concierge, servers and even the staff outside. Everyone was welcoming and very friendly. I felt very welcomed there. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and very clean! I didn't use the pool but did go to see it and it was very nice and definitely relaxing as I just sat up there for a little bit. The only thing that I was slightly disappointed about was the water pressure in the shower. While I understand this is a pretty large facility I figured it would be better. But the room was very nice and I would like to do a staycation here since it's in the heart of Downtown Dallas and close to so many things! read more

Mia was super attentive, made sure we had everything we needed and even ran out to retun my phone after I left ot on the table. Kudos Mia! Beautiful, opulent looking hotel that invokes the early 1900s grandeur of its time. The lobby area is deep dark woods with brass accents and a mix of present day services while holding the old look. Cool bar for example. The elevators take you to another time altogether, modern of course in operation, but old look. Great conference area on the 19th floor. read more

This historic hotel is a must when visiting Downtown Dallas! It is an older hotel but the rooms are big and clean! The staff are very attentive and kind. They have the best high-tea experience in the French Room which I highly recommend! The restaurant, coffee shop, and bar are also great to check out. I also love how the common areas are open to the public. If you're a guest, you have to use your room key to access the lodging floors. Definitely recommend staying here at least once! read more

A gorgeous, historic downtown Dallas hotel and part of the Bonvoy Autograph Collection. Normally $1,000+ per night during the week, we had a 2-night stay for "just" $350/night. Everything about this property oozes history and elegance. The restaurants are great including the hidden sushi restaurant - Sushi by Scratch. Service exceptional as one would expect. Bonus: They convert the 7th floor pool deck into a Winter Wonderland for Christmas including special adult and kid friendly beverages. They even have enclosed, heated cabanas for rent. Finally, make sure to stop by the barber for a clean up or shoeshine gentleman for a new shine on your boots, dress shoes or Laboutins. read more

A beautiful & historic Marriott property. The lobby is stunning. It's like stepping into a 1920s film set, complete with carved woods, Persian carpets, and gleaming brass. The Queen of England even stayed here when she visited Texas. The coffee shop and boutique near the lobby are charming, and the seventh-floor pool (which glows purple at night) is a must-visit, along with the gym and spa. My room was clean and comfortable with great blackout curtains and a luxurious rain shower, though the decor was a bit more corporate than the elegant lobby. Negatives: there's no direct elevator from the lobby to guest rooms (you must use an escalator first), my room had no safe despite repeated assurances from staff (see photos of the closet with safe missing below), and late checkout with Marriott status (usually 2pm) was difficult to arrange even though there was room availability on the day of check-out, verifiable clearly online via reservations. Overall, a gorgeous property worth visiting for the history and atmosphere, but service and accessibility could be improved. read more

Beautiful hotel! From the entrance to the atrium, the lobby gives a dark library vibe. There's a bar, working area, a barbershop, a restaurant and a coffee shop all on the bottom floor. The pool and gym are on the 7th floor.the pool is small, but plenty of cabanas and seating, along with a bar. Ice machines are only on floors 20,21&22. But when we were there, the one on 22 was broken. The room was very spacious. The location is great. I'd skip valet. There's a parking garage down the street, $25 for overnight parking. read more

What a mixed bag of a review this is going to be. It pains me to leave the Adolphus a 2 star rating but I have to tell it like it is... The Hotel has all the makings of a five star experience. It was built in 1912 and in that year it was probably one of Dallas' premier hotels and buildings. The appointments within are beautiful and well-maintained. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The venue, whether for a stay or an event is great looks and feels great! I say all of that, and then I'm gonna follow it up with I would NEVER hold an event at this hotel ever. "Why?", you ask...let me explain how an important detail can put a bad taste on everything. The parking situation here is HORRENDOUSLY bad. Like I won't even consider coming to an event here again. It would be easy to say that they need a different valet company but I'm not sure the solution to the problem is that simple. In fact, the people at this valet company have a great attitude and they were hustling, but unfortunately their process takes far too long. The event we were at was not very large, maybe a few hundred people at most. Including the stage, it only took up a fraction of one of the ballrooms. Now I realize there could've been other events happening close to the same time, but I seriously doubt that those events started and ended at the same time as this event. All that being said, there is a $27 parking fee, and once again my gripe is not even about that. My gripe is that when we dropped the car off for valet for this event, there was a 15 minute process to do so. After the event, it took us 28 minutes after we paid and the car was called for us to actually receive our car. The irony of ALL of this is that the event we attended was one hour in length, and then we spent 45 minutes just dealing with parking between dropping off and picking up. So, because the parking situation here is so horrendously bad, it needs to be addressed for this hotel to truly deliver four and five star experiences or for that matter for me to be able to recommend anyone hold an event here. The French Room Bar is one of the most beautiful rooms in Dallas. It's a refined, comfortable space where the bartenders pour quality cocktails. @thefrenchroom_ It's in the Adolphus Hotel. One of the oldest and IMO, nicest hotels in Dallas. It's a classic old school vibe with upscale oozing from its walls. The European architecture is well designed and incorporates a fun spin with Southern charm. The room is filled with antique portraits, custom furniture and the coolest light fixtures. The light fixtures look like something you'd see when jousting is about to bust out. The service is excellent because the staff are well-trained and attentive. You need a reservation for a table, but they offer a fairly large bar for walk-ins. It's a great special night place if you want to step it up a bit. I had their specialty Manhattan which was very good. I forgot to take a picture of the recipe so can't share it with you. My beautiful wife had the idea to take the photo of my Manhattan with the old man painting in the background along with the holiday Old Fashioned with the Napoleon painting. They came out quite fun. My second cocktail was off menu because I asked for an Old Fashioned with a holiday spin. The bartender not only was cool with my off menu request but he was excited to create some wizardry. He added some banana liqueur, Allspice and spiced bitters for the win. It was delicious. See the photo. Btw the bar food (heavy apps) is excellent since it's provided by the French Room restaurant. The French Room is the highest rated fine dining restaurant in DFW. It's a nice bonus for sure. You need to go check out the French Room Bar if you haven't already. My husband and I stayed at The Adolphus hotel for our wedding weekend in October. My MIL gifted us the bridal suite for the weekend - she even came to Dallas a few weeks in advance to check out the hotel and make sure it was the right room for our special weekend. Our stay was unbelievably subpar for the cost and to celebrate our wedding. No rose petals, chocolates, notes or anything! There was a bottle of champagne in the room when we checked in but no note. For them being in hospitality, you'd think it would be easy for them to do something special for us since our family was spending thousands of dollars to stay there. When we got to the hotel after our reception, my mom had brought back some flowers from our wedding for us to enjoy in our room. She asked the front desk to deliver them but they never did. Arrangements that were worth hundreds of dollars just sat and died in the closet. The day after our wedding we had a pool day and invited some of our friends for a cabana that we rented. The service was so bad and they were very unaccommodating. After our stay, we reached out to the hotel about our experience. They claimed they didn't know it was our wedding weekend and never apologized for us for the terrible stay. Many complaints later, they finally offered us a complimentary stay at the hotel. We chose to stay one weekend in December to enjoy their Winter Village. When we checked in for our second stay to make-up for our wedding weekend, still no roses, champagne, chocolates or anything to greet us. We had a reservation at the Winter Village which was very cool - they only covered the chalet rental but anything else like additional cocktails or food were not covered. I highly advise you NOT stay at this hotel if you're celebrating anything special or really just wanting to stay at a hotel. Their customer service & hospitality has gone completely out the window. I used to love this hotel so much. It's truly such a shame! Also, Tim Robertson, who's the Director of Guest Services at the hotel - they should 100% reconsider him in that role because he's AWFUL at customer service and was incredibly rude to my mother and MIL. These experiences were very unfortunate and they could've easily done some things to rectify the situation but they chose not to. Hopefully they'll get their act together for future guests. read more
