Great food and ambiance. It's right on the pier so if you come at the right time, you can get a glimpse of the sunset Food was decent. We ordered Ms. Kim's seafood soup, the clam chowder, shrimp cocktail, and the catch of the day (Mahi Mahi). The soup was bland and lacked what I assumed was the Korean inspired flavor of Jampong. The chowder was good but was on the more savory side and the shrimp cocktail was fresh, thick and juicy. The downer for me was the catch of the day. The vegetables and salad were tasty but the fish was very bland and on the tougher side. It came with a mango salsa but I didn't get any of the flavor of salsa. Everything was pretty pricey as well. Overall costed us $100. Originally I wanted the grilled lobster or fresh crab but it didn't seem worth $70 for me. It was my first time visiting Santa Monica Pier and my son was in town visiting me. When he is in town, it's a must to get him a clam chowder bread bowl. The clam chowder had a decent flavor. I also appreciated that this was an order at the counter and pick up at the counter style of a restaurant. I love that they toasted the bread bowl top but the bread bowl itself didn't feel as though it was toasted. The outside was not crispy at all like sourdough bread should be. It was soft all around until the bottom. As I ate the bread bowl and got to about the last 1/3 section of it, it was hard as a rock; as though they warmed up the bread in a microwave. It was inedible. For $18 for a bread bowl, I expected it to be completely edible. read more

Fulfilling meaty oysters and love the fried calamari. Also got to try the mahi mahi tacos and they flavor was so good! Market priced plates are avaiable as well as fresh catch of the day. The Albright was an amazing place to sit by the Pier and enjoy a drink and some yummy seafood. They say they are famous for their New England Clam Chowder, I have to say it's a difference of an opinion. My husband love the Clam Chowder and to me I didn't care for it at all. It was different. I didn't care love the cocktail shrimp they were huge and the calamari was to die for. The staff was helpful and friendly. We watched the beautiful sunset in their outdoor seating. read more

Santa Monica is great place to visit if you are on vacation or in the area. There are great places to shop, eat and walk and the ocean is right there. The Santa Monica Pier to loads of fun and has fine dinning and cheap eats along with rides and shops. One of the great places to eat is The Albright. We just love it and go whenever we can. Now, parking is in the huge lot at the bottom of the pier for a fee and then there is a lot of walking to get where you want to go. Get ready for that. The area is safe and super pretty. I don't think they take reservations. You can dine there or do take away. If you can eat there it is fun. The place is super cute with lots of tables and it is clean. The service is very good and the servers seem happy. All of their food is great. We love their calamari and get it every time we go. All the seafood is super. Now, this looks like a mid range place, but if has fine dinning prices, but it is worth it because it is all so great and much of it fresh. We love their seafood platter which is snow crab claws, fresh oysters on the half shell, tail on shrimp, Peruvian scallops, green-lipped mussels, mini Mexican shrimp, mignonette, garlic aioli, classic cocktail sauce & lemons. Grilled oysters are hard to find and boy do they make them well. They are 1/2 dozen oysters grilled with garlic butter & parmesan. They even have great fish tacos. We love the grilled Mahi Mahi which is a taco with cabbage, pico de gallo, chipotle lime aioli It comes with white rice & black beans. Everything there is great. Have the best time. read more

Disclaimer: not pictured was the clam chowder and WOW...10/10. In my opinion, the perfect creaminess and I was impressed with the amount of toppings. We also tried the Mexican shrimp cocktail. This perhaps was the biggest surprise! I'd say the closest comparison is a ceviche-esque dish with shrimp, avocado, bathed in a delicious and refreshing salsa. The fish and chips were solid, I'd say a 7/10. They were good, but lacked a little flavor, even with the tartar sauce. We also ordered the mussels and fries! The mussels were drenched in a white wine sauce and they were delicious!! We're locals in SAMO so The Albright has absolutely been added to our list of local favorites. First time trying The Albright. This restaurant is self-order at the counter, and you can choose to sit inside or outside. We ordered a lobster roll with a side of Caesar salad, two cups of clam chowder, and fish and chips. The clam chowder wasn't the best I've had--it was okay but didn't have much flavor. The rest of the food was pretty average, nothing mind-blowing. One thing to keep in mind: this place charges a 6% surcharge. We honestly didn't know what it was for and only noticed it at the end when we checked the receipt. Customer service, however, was excellent--solid 5/5. read more

The convenience, efficiency, ambiance and friendly service at this restaurant makes it a place I'd want to visit again and again! You order first, then find a seat for your party. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to accommodate small and large parties. The food was great. Nothing out of this world, but it was good and the price wasn't too bad for such a touristy area. I got the combo plate and the fish and shrimp were perfect! My husband got the lobster roll which was also good. The clam chowder was the best item we got. I couldn't try the oysters but my husband enjoyed them. They have staff that will bus your plates and clean the tables once you're done. The back patio opens right up to the pier and pacific park. The food was delicious. We ordered the calamari, connecticut lobster roll, and the half dozen raw oysters. The calamari dipping sauce was a bit spicy but we like the little kick. We enjoyed sitting on the outside dining area with the breeze. To order you order at the stand and they gave us a buzzer when the food is ready and we have to pick it up at the window so service was minimal but I'm okay with that. Came to try their famous clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl, and it did not disappoint! The chowder was creamy, rich, and full of flavor, exactly what you'd want while hanging out by the pier. Entrees: * Clam Chowder in Sourdough Bread Bowl - Warm, hearty, and packed with clams and potatoes. Easily one of the best I've had. * Lobster Roll - They have both New England (cold) and Connecticut (warm) styles. I went with the warm one, buttery, tender, and full of flavor. Have visited this place twice now and I enjoyed it both times! Although it's in a tourist spot, I found it to be fairly priced. The menu has a good selection. You can grab a menu while waiting in line to order. They'll give you a buzzer so you can grab a table first and it'll go off when your food is ready. There's a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. I prefer outside :). The fish and chips were good and it was a pretty large portion! I'd also recommend the lobster roll as well. Love coming here every time we come to Santa Monica pier! It is situated near the beginning of the pier, so you do not have to walk far to get quality food for a great price! They have regular seafood options, along with options for those who are vegan. They also were able to sub Cole slaw for my mom with corn so we could not complain! We stopped by The Albright after a day of traveling, looking for an authentic seafood spot near the Santa Monica Pier and it did not disappoint! The restaurant offers self-seating both indoors and outdoors, and you order and pick up your food at the counter. The host at the front was super friendly and quickly explained how everything works. Hands down, this was the best clam chowder I've ever had! I loved the touch of Bayou seasoning they add to everything it really elevates the flavors. The raw oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious, and I highly recommend the mussels and fries. I know it sounds like an odd combo, but the white sauce they serve with it is absolutely amazing. It's the combo I didn't know i needed! I'd probably skip the fried calamari next time, as it didn't have much meat. The Caesar salad was great, though just ask for extra dressing if you like it on the saucier side. We also tried the fried combo basket, which was really tasty. Just be sure to grab tartar sauce at the counter before you sit down, since it doesn't automatically come with the dish. We really appreciated the ocean view and the laid-back vibe by the pier. ***this review is solely for the to go clam chowder cup*** "World Famous Chowder" plastered all over their exterior and menu... who wouldn't want to go in and give this place a try? Compared to other establishments, their menu is reasonably priced at $8 for this cup of clam chowder. HOWEVER, I am disappointed regarding the size of the container (vs eating in), very lukewarm, and no oyster crackers given (as stated per menu). Additionally, upon pick up, server says they don't have any more spoons but only one... uhhhh. Yes, lots of clams (but quite sandy) and lots of potatoes. Not overtly seasoned which is much appreciated. Located on the Santa Monica pier, end of Route 66 so again who wouldn't want to visit? Paid parking every where. Some flat rate of $15, some per hour, some solely valet parking, etc... Would I come back? No. I asked and looked at a different customer table and they were equally disappointed. The lobster roll comes either hot (with melted butter) or cold (with a mayo sauce). I picked the hot roll and it was definitely a great choice. Since this place is located on the pier, you can park in any of the lots in the area. I parked in the main construction on Colorado and 2nd (first 2 hours are free). Three out of the four of us ordered fish and chips, one ordered the combo platter. All four also came with a side of coleslaw. The coleslaw was actually decent. Now to the rest of the food. The fries were nothing special. They were thin cut fries with old bay seasoning on them. I didn't enjoy them but the rest thought they were the best part. The fish in the fish and chips was heavily breaded and the folks in my group felt it was very very fishy. I k is a weird thing to say that the fish was fishy, but I hope you can understand that not all fishy has an extremely fishy taste. This did. The tartar sauce was bland. The combo had fish fingers and four shrimp. The shrimp were heavily breaded. The two fish fingers were much better quality than the other fish. One of our group got so grossed out by the fish that they ordered a second meal of chicken fingers just so they didn't go hungry. My wife said give it a 2 or at best a 3.
