Having lunch at Big Deans was a WIN for our weekend at the beach. There is semi construction at pier entrance like a tight bridge/tunnel and Big Deans was just South of this chaos. Ordered margarita and pale ale. I liked the beer. It paired well with the double cheese The Big Deans with grilled onions. We also ordered fish chips which we also liked the fries both super crispy and a side of cole slaw. Would come back to this place for a repeat order. Some band was playing live music and it helped enhance the vibe at this oceanfront restaurant. Oh we had a nice outside table with umbrella shade.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]It was pretty busy here so it drew our attention.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We just wanted something light and water. Our server was the sweetest girl , always was smiling. Service top tier. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They even have a security guard in the front, not sure what be happening for them to do all that haha!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was ok. The Mac and cheese could have been more seasoned, and a little bit more pasta. The clam chowder was also okay, it seemed to be just a tad bit flavorless in my opinion. Everything else was good!

Flew into LAX for the Eagles vs. Chargers Monday night game!! Straight off the flight to Santa Monica where we stumbled across Big Deans food and drinks were definitely on the morning menu! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Friendly service, great vibes, and sunshine...can't beat that combo![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the Big Deans Cheeseburger with bacon and it was delicious! Just a heads up the fries don't come with the meal, but you definitely need to order some. My fiancé went with the grilled shrimp and baby scallop skewers super flavorful and so good. We also grabbed the Frings (half fries, half onion rings). My friend ordered the BBQ burger, and it was packed with flavor. Perfect way to kick off game day weekend!

This is a good bar with good bar food - especially their burger and fries. The Bloody Mary is pretty good too. Wait time can be very long so prepare yourself for that. They are usually busy so sometimes it can be tough getting the server's attention.

Great service, from being welcomed and seated, to getting drinks right away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beach vibe, duh, and is literally 50 yards from the water in Santa Monica[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect beach dive bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There was a time when this was a beach biker bar. Times have changes and so has the vibe. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place for family and friends, or just catching a game and a beer on the weekend.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking is reasonable for the day at $15. Highly recommended

This is a great place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super chill beach vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The employees were all so nice and accommodating. It's not fancy, but their prices aren't either. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place to watch the game, stare at the ocean. Watch the people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect place to watch a bunch of games all at once.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Love the food and staff here. I brought my dog as it says "dog friendly" on Yelp and they have a huge patio. Outside it says only ADA service animals allowed and the security guard asked me about my dog. I showed him his service animal tag and he asked what services he performs. I felt a bit uncomfortable that they are this strict. The staff seemed to love animals and they have that large open air seating. It was also not busy. For future reference: The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) allows only two questions to be asked: (1) is the dog a service animal, and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform. Asking about the disability itself is not permitted.

If you're visiting the Santa Monica Pier and want a beach view, local vibe, cheap beer, and classic bar food -- this is the spot. I biked over and loved that it's right at the end of the bike path with easy bike parking. They've got a chill mix of indoor and outdoor seating -- picnic tables out front and a more laid-back area in the back if you want to hang longer. Bonus points for the super clean restrooms, which is a rare find near the beach. It's also a solid sports bar setup with multiple TVs playing different channels. The staff does a great job of strolling around, keeping drinks topped off and service prompt and friendly. Whether you're just off the sand or cruising the boardwalk, this is a great casual spot to refuel and relax.

Really solid spot, don't be scared by the location close to SM pier (aka tourism, sketchy people). Plenty of seating (outdoor/indoor hybrid but it's open space) and TVs with sports on. Draft beers (20 oz) are ice cold for $10, and nothing on food menu is more than $12-$14 bucks. Really good cheeseburger, I loved how they put 3 slices of cheese on. Fries were good. Wasn't the biggest fan of Big Deans sauce on burger but that's my only nitpick (it tasted like coleslaw minus the actual coleslaw, if that makes sense). Will be back here A LOT.

Food was amazing. We ordered the Big Dean cheeseburger, grilled shrimp and baby scallops skewers and Frings. Everything was done to perfection. The burger was juicy and a lot of flavor and plenty of cheese. The seafood was fresh like it was caught that day with perfect seasoning. The fries/onion rings were hot and crispy, just like they should be. It was strange they took a credit card before we ordered to make a tab on food. Soda served in cans and they were room temperature. Overall, that doesn't take away from the quality of food.

Josh, no it's not. Previous yelper/review stated that they wouldn't allow her service dog even with proper documentation. Big Deans says they allow service dogs. Bring your service dog at your own risk.

Hey! Does Dean's have happy hour? If so, when and what are the details? Thanks!

They do not. The price point is already low enough there's no need for HH.

I've been wanting to check this place out for awhile as they blown up on social media and today just felt like a burger and fries day and I have to say this is a place that lives up to the hype and more. I ordered the grilled smash and it was amazing. Perfectly balanced and delicious and the perfect size for me, not too big or small, not too greasy, packed a ton of flavor across the meat, cheese and perfectly balanced with their house sauce and pickle. Ate that one up too. I also appreciated their level of service in how they packaged up my order so nicely and with a great level of care, and hooked me up with a ton of fries too - they were overflowing when I opened the bag and still nice and hot when I took them home! Casual spot definitely is going to be on my list of go to regular spots for one of the BEST in LA. Hands down. I totally get it. You got something real special here Pn'P!!!

The concept of the bun's exterior being on the inside with the patty is completely new to me and gives it a different texture. The interior of the bun was buttered and heated on the griddle, though I felt it was a bit overly buttered, but not too salty. I recently had a smash burger elsewhere that was overly salty, but not here. While the price is a bit steep, I'm happy to pay more knowing they use quality ingredients. They are very efficient; I received my burger 10 minutes after ordering. However, the burgers aren't very filling. I ordered the Grilled Double Smash ($13.54), and while it was very good, I still felt a little hungry afterwards.I loved the crispy edges, the sweetness of the onions, and the butter pickles. There's so much to love about this spot. Despite ordering at the kiosk, the customer service was great. The staff was happy to offer suggestions and help. They use the best ingredients, with 100% organic, grass-fed patties, and they don't use any seed oils. You can check out their website for more details. I love eating burgers with my son, and I'll definitely bring him here again, knowing they use better ingredients. This is a place that cares about its customers and community.

What surprised me was the prices but more on that later. The menu is streamlined and the choices are few. What HiHo does offer is simple done correctly. The Waygu beef is fresh and they do not over season the burger. They let the natural goodness of a quality beef patty do all the talking. There is plenty of flavor but the burger is not overly greasy. The buns are made in house, as well as the pickles and they both deliver. I love a burger with shredded lettuce. The French fries are prepared fresh and cooked to perfection for my taste. I like my fries slightly crispy and a little dark. They showed up well done and almost too hot to eat. I tried their in house sauce called "Matty Sauce" and still don't know how to feel about it. It was explained to me as their version of thousand island but there was an after taste to the sauce I still can't describe. I decided I didn't care for the sauce but never stopped dipping my fries in it. So in the end, I guess I ended up liking it? I feel you will either really like it, or really dislike it. I tried both the chocolate and vanilla shakes and preferred the vanilla. The shakes are made with house made ice cream and serve their purpose. I liked the fact they have a dispenser just for water and ice. Overall I say drop what you are doing and go get a HiHo Double. The most amazing thing about this burger is its simplicity and freshness. Two things that are often overlooked and/or not well done. If you want bells and whistles go elsewhere. If you want a really, really fresh and well made burger at In N Out prices, HiHo delivers.

I had the chicken soup and the Steak & Eggs and my guest had the Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup. I subbed the potatoes for mushrooms and my one problem with this place is that the food is never really hot which is bothersome. How do you not offer soup once poured into the bowl? Their prices are not cheap as the chicken soup was $9, the steak & eggs $32 (this was off the breakfast menu), $16.50 for the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup and $6.50 for the Arnold Palmer which is a complete rip-off. The total bill was $70.54 with Tax and a cash Tip of $15.00 which was generous given the service and the fact the place was empty. Their food would be better if I received it when it was hotter, but overall was fine since at 10:26 PM there are little in terms of options to eat. While not my first, second or third choices (George's closes early which is down the block across from Whole Foods), it's has some entertaining features like a gift shop, plenty of parking and a friendly staff.
