Enjoyed my time here last night. I stopped by during happy hour after work to kill some time before my dinner reservations at Loulou. Found this bar on Yelp earlier. Some of the reviews were enticing so I just had to come check it out for myself. I suggest parking in the lot on the corner of 2nd and Santa Monica or the parking garage across from Elephante and Cava. Street parking is $1.50 for 15 mins. I paid $11.50 for about 4 hrs in the parking garage. And it was a short walk to the bar from there. Don't be afraid to get your steps in lol. There's one security professional outside posted in a suit and he was cool. The host was welcoming and friendly. Before I even stepped foot inside I could read the room and see this was definitely my type of vibe. Dark and dim lights with a vintage setting or theme. Wasn't noisy and gave this intimate feel. I grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender was attentive acknowledging me then proceeding to pour me a tall glass of water. while looking over the bar menu I couldn't help but admire the bar set up and the reading books sitting very high on the shelf. Couldn't make up my mind on which drink so I asked him for his recommendations. Was in the mood for bourbon or whiskey so he suggested "The Thunderbird" which is their version of an "Old Fashioned". It was strong but it was good. Didn't mind taking my time with it. My second drink was the "Mezcal Yellow Jacket". Now I'm a tequila type of guy so this was my first time drinking Mezcal. As far as I know lol. And I'm no fan of spicy cocktails but this one indeed was exceptional. Think I may have found a new drink. Lastly, the food... Couldn't decide whether I wanted the smash burger, crispy chicken sandwich or the grilled cheese with tomato soup. Everything really sounded so good. And some of the pics didn't make it any better. He highly recommended the "Crispy Chicken Sandwich". Didn't take long to come out at all. I ordered then went to the restroom. Was gone for about 10 minutes and came back to my food just patiently waiting on me. Right on time !!! Not to mention, he also covered my drink for me while I was gone. The sandwich is or was better than I expected. Although I do prefer sweet coleslaw, this one was a lil tangy but I ate the whole sandwich. And it's a big chicken breast. The cucumbers were very different. I'm used to pickles. However, I wouldn't change anything. I would actually order that again. Ordered the brussel sprouts to go. They were delicious... Good atmosphere though. Clean restaurant and bar. Clean restrooms upstairs. Awesome customer service and good food. Half off on cocktails. I enjoyed everything. And the free cookies on the way out were just an extension of the great service I received. I had a great first time experience and will definitely return in the future.
We had a small party of three come in on an evening for an early ish dinner and there were lots of fun options! Parking in the structure just north of the restaurant is no problem and we were seated very quickly. One member of our party is vegetarian and so there were several accessible menu options for them. The sliders, tacos, and chicken sandwich were all tasty. Nothing stood out as being absolutely amazing but I think the quality was solid for sure, and it's a nice vibe to come and chill with friends.
This place is amazing. Service at the bar was top notch. Relaxing atmosphere with a great vibe and good music. We had the prime rib nik niks and Hand Cut Kennebec Fries with house-made honey mustard. The Nik Niks were out of this world delicious. Tender shaved prime rib with a hint of horseradish. Perfect. The fries were a letdown to be a "signature" dish but the honey mustard was tasty. Can't wait to go back
I dropped in here on the recommendation of a friend and love the interior of this place. It is very old school, yet comforting and welcoming. I was seated quickly and was able to order some items of the happy hour menu plus a couple of things for dinner. I was very pleased with the food, but especially the cocktails. They were very creative and perfectly balanced. My only complaint would be the price of the tacos. While they were delicious, paying $8.00 per taco seemed a bit pricey in my opinion.
Came here for happy hour on a Monday and loved the vibe of the place. Half off drinks was great, except they don't discount beer which was a bummer for my husband. Also no appetizers on the food unless you sit in the bar The food was great though, and the ambiance of the place is a cool. My husband got the burger and said it was one of the best has had in Santa Monica. I had the jicama fish taco and was surprised to find that the tortillas were actually made from thinly sliced jicama! It was strange, but also delicious. We'll probably be back to try the happy hour at the bar some weekday.
Went here on a date and what can I say.. it was very pleasing! I loved the vibe, the decor. It gave speak easy, romantic vibes with the dim lights. The food was great, I went on with the BBQ Salmon.. paired with a risotto and light vegetables. The salmon was cooked beautifully and the risotto had a really nice texture very creamy, well seasoned. The servers were quick and polite, and showed courtesy by giving me and my date time to talk. Which i feel displays as respectful. Would I come back? Probably not.. but this was a lovely experience

Place is pretty good. The service was fabulous. The food was less impressive. Crispy chicken sandwich was delicious The guacamole dip and Brussels sprouts was fabulous The beef Picadillo tacos - I was expecting more of a Cuban beef Picadillo but I'd consider this more like asada - and it was just ok The vegetarian tacos were delicious though the person that ordered it didn't like it - she was just a picky eater. The fries were good and large in size - not pictured Someone who ordered the prime rib nik niks was not a fan. She asked for well done but came out medium rare so she didn't finish it or complain to the waiter. The drinks were awesome. We had espresso martinis, the Japanese drink was incredibly tasty, bourbon blossom was good. Ace in the hole I wasn't that much of a fan of - it was too tart. On top of that our waiter brought salted caramel ice cream on the house for our friends birthday. A very nice touch. Our waiter was the best.
Had a great experience at The Misfit Restaurant +Bar in Santa Monica. We took advantage of their great DAILY HAPPY HOUR which is from OPEN till 7PM every open day! We were bike riding on the boardwalk and rode in on a Wednesday to take advantage of the drink and food specials. Arrived around noon and fell in love with the decor! I ordered the double smash burger and a mojito! Half off drinks and $9 burger cannot be beat. Food was so good I almost ordered a second burger, and my drink was expertly crafted. Bartenders gave great service, as they were friendly and attentive! This is my new GO TO SPOT when in Santa Monica, will definitely be back!
After enjoying some coffee nearby at Kavahana, my wife and I instantly knew this was our excuse to go to Santa Monica 3rd Street Promenade since it's been years either of us have gone. We walked around a bit but nothing caught our attention until we came across The Misfit and it was the perfect weekend brunch. The Misfit is located in downtown Santa Monica along Santa Monica Blvd near 2nd Street which is also walking distance from the Promenade. The restaurant itself is in the ground floor of the Clock Tower Building which explains the beautiful interior and bar. Since it was a sunny day out, we chose to sit in the front patio and ordered a pitcher of Sangria. As for food, my wife got shrimp tacos and I went with fish tacos. These were not your typical tacos, both were crispy and flavorful due to the Jicama and Blue Corn. The Misfit is centrally located a few blocks from the beach and also a few steps away from the promenade. Knowing they also do happy hour everyday until 7pm explains why they get so much foot traffic. This is a great spot for anyone in downtown Santa Monica looking for somewhere to meet with friends or grab a drink in a timeless bar.
Really love the food and vibes of this place! Food is super yummy every time I love the Mac and cheese. The service was a good, a bit low energy and was slightly lacking in attentiveness but honestly probably expected for a slow Wednesday night. Had a great time!
We came here on a Monday night. The Misfit is a great place to catch up with friends over drinks, I had a mocktail and my friend had a kombucha. The ambience is cool, bartender is attentive. A laid back place, you can have conversations here, music is not too loud.
Came here on March 10th, a day before my birthday and I had such a lovely time. The pesto pasta and cocktails were flavorful and aromatic. So delicious. The cocktails I tried were Chameleon & Basil Gimlet. Service was excellent and the restaurant has so much character and felt comfortable. I'm so sad to hear it's no longer there, but hopefully they will relocate sometime in the future.

Very cool place to visit in Santa Monica - excellent place very friendly staff 1 very welcoming. absolutely delicious food! My cheese sandwich was heaven! Stumbled across this place while exploring Santa Monica. Can't believe we didn't make it here sooner with how often we end up down here. Step inside and you'll feel like you're transported back in time with it's elegant, art-deco style decor and design. Despite it being loud and lively, the seating area seems to have different sections that allow you to feel a bit more private in your dining experience. Happy hour is 100% where it's at - cocktails are half off, and they have some incredible drinks here. Each one is uniquely crafted and elevated from the average cocktail you will get elsewhere. Really enjoyed their Japanese Dream as they were able to perfectly incorporate matcha into the drink. The big winner for me, though, was their French Apple Cart - really hit that fall, apple spice flavor. Great food options. Both their smash burger and chicken sandos were delicious. Cooked well, both so full of flavor. We parked at a lot about a block away. Reasonably priced, easy walk over. Centrally located, so you can also walk to the Santa Monica pier if you desire. Doggo friendly on their patio! Overall, a great choice for dinner! Highly recommend. read more

Lunch, they open at 12:00. Menu is not on their website, just the dinner and weekend brunch. I had the Mediterranean chicken. It is filleted thin and heavily breaded. The Frisia salad that comes with it was better. I would recommend the salads or smashbuger, my friends like them both. The mac n cheese was okay but something not right, maybe the combination of cheese, it was a bit grainy she said. Service was good even though Diana was also handling a group. The ambience is cozy old world pub with lots of wood. Curiously the toilets are off the second floor dining area. We will try this place again. read more
We came here around 2 pm on a Saturday and took advantage of their happy hour half off drinks. I got an apple cider cocktail for $9.5 total and I asked them to make it as sweet as possible and they delivered :) we also ordered the chicken burger which was sooooooo crispy and delicious!! The crispness was the best part. I ordered beef tacos which was so good as well and the sauce was tasty. The service was amazing and the decorations really tied together the ambience. They have two floors and the bathroom is on the second floor. We parked in the public parking structure about a block away which was free!!! "*Delayed post from Jan '25. The Misfit blew my expectations away, from the ambience and service to the food itself! I loved the coziness of the half booths on the opposite wall from the bar where my small group gathered. The entire building has an art deco vibe that extends into the 2nd floor where the bathrooms are located. Their use of mirrors to extend the warm lighting is ingenious! I also love how ornate and beautiful the bar and walls are throughout, with bottles and drawers and books stacked to the ceiling. I ordered the Pan Roasted Cauliflower and loved that is was crispy and well seasoned. The green tahini sauce is bomb and the pomegranate and olives surprisingly compliments the other flavors and textures super well. The pita bread on the side was perfect for soaking up the remaining sauce and bits on the plate. Highly recommend this place for a date night, followed by free west coast swing dance classes on 3rd street every Tuesday at 7pm!" read more
Came here for a date night and the atmosphere was awesome! They have some outside seating which you can see the 3rd st promenade. The inside had an old timely look feel to it. The bar area has an incredible display with all their liquor. Service was fast and the food was delicious! We loved every dish we got including the fries. The dates wrapped in bacon were my personal favorite. It is a great place to bring a date. read more

Great bar with great ambience. I love the speakeasy vibe, and the cocktails are top notch. I've been here a couple of times and the service is excellent. I haven't tried the food yet, but I do plan on returning. I came on my birthday to have a couple of drinks before dinner and I was not disappointed. The barstools are extremely heavy ha ha. Happy hour until 7 PM half-price drinks every day you can't beat that. Definitely pop in when you have time and you're in the area it's worth it. read more

The food here was nice. It was an American cuisine. A very cute date night. I really enjoyed the wings and we also got a chicken sandwich. I like the variety of sauce for my fries as well. The service was also nice, the waiter was really patient with us. I also enjoyed the free cookie on the way out! read more

One of my Favorite Spots in Santa Monica! If you like Lobster, you must order the Lobster Nick Sliders! They are so good, just the right amount & consistently served good. Chamomile tequila drink exposed me to infusing drinks with tea. Perfect balance. Nice ambiance, darker atmosphere even when it is sunny out. The bartenders are usually pretty knowledgeable. Conveniently located near all the restaurants and shops, easy to access. Pro Tip: Be sure to call ahead to make sure it isn't closed or being reserved for a private event. read more
Wowwww these happy hour prices. They have half off drinks until 7 pm which makes for a $9 cocktail - the cheapest I've seen in Santa Monica. To make it better, the food is also great! We ordered a plate of fries and the brussel sprouts, both were large servings and delicious. I got the jicama shrimp tacos which to my surprise were served with jicama as the vessel. One was a single piece which worked well but the second taco had two pieces of jicama so it fell right apart. My friend liked the smoked salmon as well as the BLT fried rice. read more
Went in the afternoon for drinks. The bartender was so kind and friendly and gave us recommendations for the area. The drinks were unique and delicious. I loved the touch of zaatar in the One Night in Babylon. The Japanese Dream was citrusy and refreshing. Classy ambiance and very spacious with comfortable bar seating. read more

Last time I came here was about 10 ago. I remember how cool the layout was. I remember the drinks were pretty decent. Came here this weekend and the customer service was great!! Couldn't ask for better. Every waiter was super duper nice. Food was good. Tasty hummus and oh my those wings were absolutely delicious. The pickled cucumbers were a fave!! Wish I could order those to go. Great atmosphere, and I'm not waiting another 10 years to come back. I'm coming back soon! read more
What's not to like? The Misfit has great food, excellent service, and outdoor seating, which allowed us to people watch during our meal. I ordered the Prime Rib Nik Niks and they were spectacular! The food was delivered quickly and it left me wanting more. read more

We had a disappointing experience here. We dined in, ordered food, and paid for everything. At the end, I asked for an ice water to go. I had already finished the water at the table, and since the drink I ordered was still hot, I poured it into the cup with ice to cool it down. We were sitting outside and it was hot out. Shortly after, I noticed two staff members come out and look at our table, then go back inside. A manager named Jane came out and told us we weren't allowed to take our drinks to go. It was uncomfortable and embarrassing, especially since we hadn't even left the table we were still seated. I later called the restaurant to speak with a manager, and the same person, Jane, answered. She cut me off and didn't give me a chance to explain. Overall, the way the situation was handled felt unnecessary and rude. I won't be returning, and I hope they work on their customer service. read more
I LOVE the Lambrusco here! Their happy hour prices leave food items @9 dollars per dish. Tough find in this part of town! Service was wonderful, our bartenders were attentive and kind. I struggle with acid reflux and the Tuscan Kale dressing was too much personally. They were sweet enough to bring me a new dish with dressing on the side! Their Mac n Cheese is gluten free for my celiac folks, I was seeing little oil puddles forming in it tho-- much fattier than what I've had before. The walnut dip goodness is A GO TO every time. I was marveling at their high ceilings and gorgeous bar. There's a floral focal point that's also a beauty that I much appreciated in the restaurant. Nice touch with the overhead light there. The host is always dressed to the 9's and has a background in fashion, her fits always blow me away-- had to give them a shout out. Thanks for having us, Misfits! read more

This place doesn't take reservations but if you come on a Friday early, they had seats available for four. As it gets later, the place gets really crowded. Beautiful bar and music gets pretty loud so it's a pretty lively crowd. The drinks were amazing and they have happy hour til 7pm. The food was amazing as well! read more

Ohhhhmyyyygosssssh!!!!!! The Misfit's Restaurant & Bar was mind blowing! 10/10 So get this; my fiancé does not like tomatoes. And he tried the avocado toast, and LOVED it. I have never seen him eat tomatoes! Let alone gobble them up lol He even said that he was shocked at how good the avocado toast was. It had such good flavor! And the purple grapes on top, wow. That was a great touch! A slight sweetness that just added to the overall complexity of the appetizer! The hummus plate was absolutely amazing! Again, not your typical hummus that is just plopped on a plate. This had depth and complexity! The hummus had oil, and a garnish added to it. The pita bread was soft and crunchy at the same time. It had some seasoning that was wonderful with the hummus! 10/10 My fiancé usually doesn't care for hummus much. I'm the hummus lover. And this was top notch hummus! The Mac and cheese was soooo cheesy! Everything you'd want if you are a cheese lover. It had the melted cheese on top. It had the rue on the bottom. The pasta noodles were cooked nicely. It came together and was creamy and super cheesy. 10/10 Service was good. Ambiance was laid back. I liked some of the decor. Very unique restaurant. And the food ROCKS! read more
Food was excellent. Bacon wrapped dates were perfection. Ceviche was delicious (could have had a little more fish/shrimp). Fried chicken is gluten free and they had gluten free bread for it. Drinks were delicious and not too sweet. It is a bit dark inside. Bathrooms are upstairs and were clean.
