We celebrated my friend's birthday here last night and I'm so glad we decided to come here! I think the gentleman who seated us might have been the owner, he was very kind and welcoming. Our server, Murray, was so patient with us and was amazing all around. We were very indecisive and he gave us great recommendations, and was attentive, welcoming, and when needed, gave us our space to enjoy the meal. Thank you, Murray! We started with the Rye me a River cocktail and the Mezcal cocktail which were both perfect for our tastes. My mezcal drink was beautiful with a black salt rim and beautiful Smokey flavor (along with the word Chelsea spelled out on my ice cube). My friend loved his Rye me a River cocktail. For food, we started with the oysters and lobster sliders which I don't get a picture of, but they were both great!!! The lobster sliders were actually my favorite bite of the whole meal. My friend devoured the oysters, he loved them so much. We then had the boar ragu tagliatelle which was excellent. It was sweeter than most ragus that I've had, but that was my friend's favorite dish of the whole night. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly, absolutely perfectly, and the pistachio crust was delicious. We ordered steak frites and asked that the fries be truffle fries, which they kindly accommodated. So glad we asked because the truffle fries were delicious, they came with a cilantro dipping sauce that was delectable! The steak itself was cooked perfectly, and the gravy accompaniment was an excellent complement to the steak. We also got the peanut butter and chocolate turnover for my friend's birthday. Treated my friend to dinner her for letting us stay at her place for a night. Oysters: With lemon ginger vinaigrette, fresh oysters and beautiful plate. My kids are used to it with only lemon so we ate them and they were great. Yellowtail & Watermelon Sashimi: Chili oil, ponzu, onion, serrano. Wonderful combo with the watermelon, haven't had it like this before and would repeat. Sweet Corn & Ricotta Ravioli: Thai green curry based sauce. It was delicious but deceptively spicy. I checked out Chelsea during a happy hour with a friend and sat at the bar. We got lamb kebabs, kimchi, grilled cheese, and fish tacos. The lamb kebabs were a bit gamey for my taste but I enjoyed the sauce that came with it. Fish tacos were flaky and well cooked but wished it was more flavorful. The kimchi grilled cheese felt pretty substantial and filling. The food was good but one dish didn't particularly stand out. The drinks on the other hand did. The shades of pink was a really good sippable drink that was perfect on a warm day. It wasn't too sweet and light enough to feel refreshing. The aloe & behold cocktail was delicious and got a hint of floral flavor that made it feel unique. The staff were great and attentive. The bathrooms were clean and had a cute aesthetic. Chelsea was a beautiful, moody interior restaurant with vibrant dishes and fun cocktails. Especially loved the yellowtail and watermelon dish as well as the grilled octopus. I believe everyone enjoyed their dishes, but docking a star as they overcooked the steak frites! We ordered it medium rare but it came to us medium-well done. It is always disappointing to get a steak more done than you requested. They had a seasonal banana foster dessert at the end that was delicious. Service was attentive and pleasant. Love Little Chelsea for their beautiful patio and delicious food. On our initial visit, the menu was very limited and it was hard to find something that our extremely picky eater liked. The second time we came, they were serving the entire Chelsea menu in addition to the previous menu, so everyone was able to find something that appealed to them. In particular, I have liked their fish - their fish tacos and New Zealand seabass were delicious. The portions for the seabass were quite large. Child loved their escargot stuffed mushrooms and boar ragu. Husband likes the burger - I had a bite, and it was amazing. Don't pass up the desserts here! The menu felt a bit limiting considering the few options for entrees. They serve American food, which really just means a bunch of random things. The Wasabi Pea Crusted Ahi might sound intimidating & kinda weird, but i'm glad J ordered it. The fish itself tastes very plain but fresh. The crust is what gives this dish flavor. He read the room and gave us space during intimate conversations but came and checked on us, anticipating needs. We ordered the lobster sliders which were delicious and a reasonable portion of lobster. I'd come back for these. The lamb chop was suggested as a popular dish and was cooked perfectly, however it was just okay...flavor was mid if you will. The duck however was very flavorful and cooked to perfection. I had another great dinner tonight at Chelsea. Sat on the outdoor deck for happy hour with my pup, it was really popping. I'm glad to see people are discovering how good this restaurant is. The ambience the food and the service was exceptional. Shout out to Ty who always makes me feel at home. The service here really is top-notch. Everybody works as a team. Today I started out with a nice glass of wine and two orders of oysters off the happy hour menu And then I tried something new and had the Tikka Masala Fried Chicken with an ice cold beer. The presentation was beautiful, and the dish was extremely tasty, it had the perfect amount of heat, just a really well executed dish. They make it with a chicken breast. Super cute little restaurant in Santa Monica for a date night or GNO. We shared 2 appetizers and 3 mains between 3 girls and it was the perfect amount of food. The noise level isn't too loud and the lights are nicely dimmed. The most memorable dishes were the grilled octopus and the kung pao brussels sprouts. The grilled octopus was perfectly cooked, not chewy at all and the brussels sprouts were so flavorful! No bland center here. Service is great and even helped us take pictures at the end of the meal. We got a nice rounded booth which made it easy for conversation and dish sharing. The burrata appetizer was very large - easily shareable for 4 people. I have been wanting to try Chelsea for some time now and finally got a chance. The restaurant feels like a nice homey vibe. Nicely lit, quiet with good feelings and sounds. The wait staff was fun and helpful and there was only one waiter for all the tables on this night. Which was fine because we didn't feel stalled at all. The cocktails were tasty but the spicy margarita from the menu lacked some spice punch I have to say. However the tequila old fashion I ordered was a 10/10! Lacking punch is how I would describe the entire meal. Things were good but I can't say that anything knocked my socks off. We started with sashimi and melon dish along with the tuna ceviche. Both good neither great. A surprise was the lobster slider because it was fried. Likely a waste of lobster to cook it so hard. Again different but not mind blowing different. My main was the pork chop. It got a little boring even with the vegetable side and mashed potatoes that lacked all flavor. The rest of the party ordered the sea bass. I had a bite. It was good at first but then I got overwhelmed with the coconut flavor. I didn't try the fried chicken. I wasn't told it was spicy but it's not my interest. The ricotta cheesecake was good. I've driven by Chelsea several times, and now I only wish I had discovered it sooner! My son is a huge fan of this restaurant, and after our visit, I completely understand why. We were a party of eight and ordered several appetizers, entrées, and cocktails. Everything was outstanding. Each dish had its own distinct flavor --there was no crossover in the sauces or seasonings. Every plate was unique. The American Samurai cocktail is an absolute must-try. It combines flavors I never would have imagined together. Beautiful color! These are true craft cocktails, and Ty, the bartender, is a master. He handled every request while seamlessly managing the bar and other tables. He was friendly, professional, and genuinely attentive to everyone. The space is intimate and stylish, with a comfortable lounge-like atmosphere. I've also heard wonderful things about the patio, which is open on weekends, so that is definitely on my list for our next visit. Chelsea will probably become my new go-to. The space is wonderful with a large dining area, bar seats, and even some private rooms for those who want the restaurant experience but a little quieter. Their menu is eclectic with various offerings spanning from ceviche to roast duck. There is truly something for everyone. We shared the albacore ceviche, grilled octopus, corn ravioli, roast duck, bolognese, burger, and lamb chops. We also tried their cookies that come paired with White Russians. Such a great combo! The squash blossoms are one of my favorites and the tikka massala chicken is a real standout. I can't wait to go back to try more so we ordered the escargot mushrooms and the squash blossoms and I have not had a party in my mouth like that in quite a while so I suggest everybody get your tickets to Chelsea and have a party in your mouth the flavors explode like the Fourth of July! I don't know if he's the owner of the general manager, but he complimented me on my dress. I thought that was lovely. Service here is good but the food definitely wasn't memorable at all and I think the tuna caused my mom diarrhea. First I'll go with the wasabi crusted tuna. This entree was overly salted which can only mean one thing. The tuna wasn't very fresh and probably was what caused my mom's diarrhea. Definitely can't recommend this one. The seared scallop was good but the risotto was too soggy. It was so soggy the sauce was running like water. Definitely not used to risotto going that. The oyster was good and the sauce complimented it well. It was the only dish that gets a passing grade. Escargot was bland and combining it with mushrooms took away any little flavor it had. It was not a well thought out dish. They had better off just removing the mushrooms and it would have tasted better. I don't know how this restaurant got this high star. Maybe their other dishes was better or we came on a bad day although if Friday night is bad, that's a little bit concerning as a restaurant. If you just came here for the bar, then I'd say is probably worth it but for a full on dinner, probably not. There are many other restaurants in Santa Monica that I can think of that are way better. read more

I had a really great experience at Chelsea Restaurant. The whole place feels stylish and well put together, but still comfortable and not overly formal. It has that kind of atmosphere that works really well for a date night, dinner with friends, or honestly just anytime you want a place that feels a little more special without being too much. The service also made a big difference. Everyone was professional, friendly, and welcoming, and the pacing of the meal felt right. Nothing felt rushed, but we also were never left waiting too long. It made the whole experience feel smooth and enjoyable. I also really liked the overall vibe of the restaurant. It feels modern, intimate, and a little upscale, but still warm enough that you can relax and enjoy yourself. There are plenty of spots on LA but when you're able to create the charm of a warm, hip and modern home with bites and sips that offer some unique flavors and epic punch that's what you immediately get from the Chelsea. We arrived when it opened for happy hour and the host was very inviting and asked us to come right in. I could tell this was a happening spot because by the time we left it was PACKED! At Happy Hour we tried the following: Kimchi & Peach Grilled cheese: 5/5 - I was pretty surprised at these unique flavors blending together in a way that was surprisingly tasty. They use a kimchi spread along with brie cheese and peaches to create a really interesting and unique blend that you can dip into another Asian inspired sauce really nothing like anything I've had in LA. Short rib sliders: 4/5 - these were tasty but nothing that I haven't had before and unfortunately, there was a little bit of a bone chip in one of the sandwiches that I ate so that was a little off putting. Ahi tuna tacos: 4/5 - I enjoyed the crunch of the wonton taco, but found the Aji tuna to be a little salty for my taste but if you have this with a cocktail, I can see that it would be a really nice blend of flavors along with the drink Shades of pink cocktail: 4/5 - fords gin, strawberry, rosemary and pink peppercorn, lime, lo fi dry, tonic- I am a really big fan of artisan, cocktails, and really enjoyed the delicate balance of flavors that this one had to offer. The peppercorn was a really interesting way to be able to bring out the fragrant rosemary, which wasn't overpowering and I love a good gin cocktail. My only suggestion is that the strawberry flavor while quite nice was a little bit light. If they push that for a bit, this would be a knockout five out of five. I unfortunately did get one bad oyster in my bunch and there was a small bone in one of my sandwiches but I wouldn't say that was detrimental to the whole experience. Service was pleasant. We sat at the bar and while the server was helpful they didn't go out of their way to recommend things. There is valet, street and metered parking available at this location. read more

Friendly and very attentive service. I asked for a glass of ice for my water and once the glass was empty, they brought another without me asking or even knowing. The food was a mix of Asian, Indian, and American. The best octopus l've eaten. The vibe was cute and intimate. Nice for date night or dinner with friends.
