I just happened to see something come through my newsfeed over Fb, I bookmarked it, found my schedule open, so headed east to check it out. Emma likes to play in her room... and who doesn't like to play with little spirits?! I didn't know the history of the Magnolia Hotel so was totally clueless walking in the door... Magnolia Hotel has been on Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel. Also, Magnolia Hotel is ~not~ a hotel, it is now a personal residence. To my delight, I was able to hear stories of the old hotel, tales of it's past residents many of which have never left, and how Magnolia Hotel was discovered by the owners. Jim & Erin saved the Magnolia from being demolished... they single handedly have saved a part of Seguin history!... and some haunted history at that! I spent about two hours just hanging out, looking around, and people watching... talked to some interesting people, listening to questions and answers... all very interesting. Did I have an experience? I had something creepy go up the back of my left neck and skull as I was talking to a ghost hunter in the original dining area where the owner was sitting. I also felt some weird things around the house... but something I brushed off at first until I started listening to others talk about it... when you first come up the stairs, it feels really heavy. I originally brushed it off as I just walked up the stairs... but no, go back and you feel it... and everyone was feeling it!!! Emma was playing in her room. One of the guides said just a few minutes earlier, a little girl got scratched. Then someone told her that they saw the door knob in the pink bathroom turn back and forth. The owner, Erin, said this house is more active during the day than at night. Wow! The owners Jim & Erin host a ghost tour in their home on occasion, which books up months in advance. The tour last about 2 hours with in-depth stories which might also include a spiritual reading from the Erin at the end (but only if deceased wish to come forward). Erin has written Haunted New Braunfels, Haunted Seguin, and soon to be released Haunted Magnolia House. All proceeds go towards restoring the Magnolia Hotel. I can not wait to go on their ghost tour!

Our cabin's…read moreAC wasn't working from the moment we checked in on Thursday, and despite multiple messages and visits from staff, it was never fixed during our 3-night stay. The staff on the text line (especially Daniela and Kaylee) were polite and tried to help, but the issue was beyond their control. We were repeatedly told a technician was coming, offered temporary cabins for the night, and given portable AC units that barely cooled one side of the cabin. By the second night we had three adults and a toddler staying in a hot, uncomfortable cabin. Even after constant communication, the AC unit was never replaced, and the portable solutions leaked and couldn't keep up. We spent much of the trip waiting for answers instead of relaxing. When I called management after checking out, I was told only Rachel could authorize a refund, but she was on vacation. When I finally spoke with her, she was dismissive and offered only 50% back or a partial credit, saying she saw camera footage of us "using the amenities" as proof we still enjoyed our stay -- which was offensive after how miserable the cabin conditions were. I want to make clear that the on-site staff and text support team were kind and empathetic, but management's handling of the situation was unacceptable. Our vacation was consumed by a broken AC, unresolved maintenance issues, and poor follow-up. I won't be returning, and I strongly suggest future guests think twice before booking. If things go wrong, you might not get proper help -- only excuses. Also just to note a lot of the cabins are lacking in condition, but for the winter price it's bearable. Either way after this experience there's better places to vacation at.

The bedding is stained. There is mold in the little fridge, and the microwave is abhorrent with caked on food. We couldn't even get the freezer open. The room smells absolutely stale. I do not recommend this place. While the person at the front desk was very nice at check in, that doesn't change what the room is like.

I should have pulled up the reservation on my phone right then but didn't.  Later when I had time I checked and found NO I indeed booked nonsmoking.  The owner was walking by our room, so I stepped out to let him know the error was on their end.  Basically I got a "you should be grateful" speech.  On how they gave us a good room, pet deposit down the road was $20 and theirs $15, how his security cameras are on all the time (showed me on his phone).  I knew then instead of a simple mistake, it was bait & switch scam.  They DO NOT honor the price advertised on Expedia.  It's just $5 so I knew it wasn't worth the hassle trying to communicate further with his supposed "limited English and understanding".  15 minutes later the Owner knocks on the door with our bill in his hands asking for a signature.  He did not remove the $5, because they "gave us the best room". It was NO suite, trust me!! Room 110  Still not worth a hassle I sign the bill and keep our copy as proof. We had a function to attend later and as we drove off we wave at the owner standing in the parking area.  7:30am as I was sitting in bed waking up, the door unlocks and is only stopped from opening by the chain in place AND peeping in is the OWNER!  When he saw me awake he quickly shut the door.  My husband wakes up and we decide to get out of there!  As we were packing our car right outside our doorway I see the owner and tell him "someone opened our door" His response was " he'd check into that".  WTH!!  EXTREMELY CREEPY!! I began watching my credit card and once all our charges were paid, I did not trust the integrity of this owner & wife, so I have cancelled my card from further bogus charges. Obviously the "GOOD" reviews are staged.   Our "clean" room left our socks BLACK on the bottom.  GO DOWN THE ROAD & stay at pet friendly BLACK GOLD!! Pay the extra $$!!  You will be sorry you stayed at this hotel!  I now ordered a mobile door alarm for future travels & hotel stays.  Expedia will be advised of our experience. My advice to owners is just add $5 to pet free, tricks are for kids and not welcome on bait & switch schemes. And I hope you never open a door unauthorized to a prepared LTC guest. I have now read other reviews stating you do this unacceptable quirk often.

It's a lot cheaper during the winter, and during the week. But my kids still loved all did this place had to offer. The scenery, the location, the activities are so worth it. Cons There was no shampoo or conditioner, you have to clean up for yourself even though there is a $75 cleaning fee, there are way too many cats and it's gross when they come in your door if you leave it slightly open for more than a second, they are frightening at night, there is no clean water to drink, they advertise cabins that accommodate eight but it's truly only six with you bringing your own bed for the remaining two, wi-Fi is poor, no towels on loan from the inn. Pros Low price in the winter, beautiful scenery, gorgeous cabins, lots of outdoor activities even in the winter like basketball, volleyball bonfires, bowling, connect four, fishing, lots of great indoor activities for kids like pool, ping-pong, Jenga, places to cook out, lots of hammocks and outdoor seating, great outdoor deck overlooking the river, accommodations for various parties sizes like teepees. If you go in the summer they have free canoes to use, paddleboard's to try, river swings to jump from, and tubes. It was easy to access, you can go straight to your room with a code, and it's has great outdoor hiking areas. They even have a hot tub. Honestly it's the views that make this place worthwhile. I had a difficult time choosing between this location, the River Road location, and The Guadalupe River location, they all seem pretty similar. But for the price and amenities, the Geronimo really is the place to go. In the winter when it's slow season it's even more amazing because we truly had the entire place to ourselves. There were no other people here that's pretty cool! There is a grocery store about eight minutes from the cabins to grab firewood or coal, meat to grill and marshmallows to roast. This is a great stay for any family friends or couples. Pro tip stay in the sweet medicine cabinet, it's furthest from the road, closest to the river, has a true stairwell to the loft, and close to the extra bathrooms.

We never even stayed there...we left because of the smell. Never heard back after I called in the morning and just now received (4 days later) an email saying "the cabin doesn't have a smell and you should read the entire description of the cabins." You'd have to read and read to find it amd I'd think not having a shower and toilet in your cabin is pretty big topic to inform your clients vice disenguuosly buying in the description. Shame on you for such a horrible experience and taking my $.

It is a beautiful home with many whimsical touches. Although it seems small, it cozily sleeps 6. I highly recommend staying there with others. I stayed there with my mother and it was entirely too large for just the two of us! :) For being such an old home (it was built in 1869), it is solid as a rock! Not a creak or a sound came out of that home. The back porch was our favorite spot to relax in the evenings. This truly is a beautiful home with so many updates and cold A/C! :) Bring your own coffee, though. Although the landlords said it was available, there was no coffee and we ended up having to buy our own. OR, you can walk right over to Greg's Coffee Shop (totally another review, there!)

The room had your basic 2 queen beds but it did have a large refrigerator which was nice. The sink seemed to be partly clogged as it took forever to drain. The front door opens to a gravel parking lot and the main road just beyond that. Check in is next door at the Best Western. One major annoyance was that as our group was preparing to leave around 7:30am, and the cleaning lady tried to enter our room to start cleaning not once, but TWICE. Overall, as a bed to sleep on overnight this place is fine but definitely not a vacation destination.

We spilt the payment 3 ways, I got charged the 3 way payment & the full price for my room in total it was about $400 so there went all my spending money for my vacation. I continuously asked for a manager I got told they'd be there in the morning, I called in the morning I asked & asked for the manager & she kept telling me there not here but I can help you, she argued with me with an attitude & was no help. I wouldn't recommend this nasty hotel for anyone not even a homeless person.
