Good cheap stay. The inside of the rooms were very nice. Henry the manager was helpful and very kind. We really enjoyed coming to stay here.

Is this a luxurious hotel? No, but for the price and location it was amazing. We were in town for a…read morefestival, and had originally booked a different hotel that cancelled our reservation without any notice once we had arrived and we were scrambling to find another place while all other nearby hotels were sold out. Thankfully oyo had one room left, we booked it and it ended up saving us from sleeping in our truck that night. Very clean, great for the price. We were so thankful to find them, and will definitely be booking them next year when we come back.

A spur of the moment trip, a lot of it kind of went sideways but we had fun overall. We stayed here…read moreas a sort of mid point to places we wanted to see and the Expedia reviews were mostly good. It's a small place, old style motel all on one floor, limited parking but not small. All rooms are on the outside in style of the movies Psycho or Identity. The first front desk guy there when we checked in was nice, friendly and fast. Even gave us a good recommendation for margaritas in the area at a place I will review later. The second lady was not as friendly. I went to get TP, I went, didn't call or ask them to bring it. Requested two rolls and she looked at me like I asked for a refund or something so outrageous she couldn't comprehend it! It was a bigger room than expected and 2 king beds. Clean on the inside. The outside looks a bit worse for wear but not awful. But pulling up it looks bad, Shana points out had she been alone traveling and only saw the outside coupled with the rooms all being out facing she would not have stayed, fairly or not first impressions can mean a lot. But there were moden day cameras up through out but you wouldn't see that either at a glance nor know who if anyone is monitoring them. There were also so many bugs and even nests for birds on lights. Also a giant dragon fly! Still the room was clean and organized. We did have one bug we saw but it was one over 3 days and on a counter easily taken care of for our sanity. The hotel is on a main road, sign is high and easy to see. They had a fitness center but we didn't see it. A really old fashioned soda machine with the window that has old cans in it to show what it has to offer. Also there was a breakfast but we always ate elsewhere due to wanting to try new places so no idea how good the breakfast may be here. Room had all the practical features travelers might need: refrigerator, microwave, toiletries, TONS of counter space in the bathroom area and a table and chairs. Lots of outlets as well.

Shiner Country Inn - Got some nice outdoor shots from outside the room. Can you tell we're Astros fans?

Parking is limited Location is great but on the main road so be ready for some traffic noise, not too bad though. It was clean AC worked very well Hot water was amazing Walk in shower (Water had sulphur smell to it.) Across the street from a really nice park that the kids loved. Good for waking and hanging out. My only complaint is the kitchen: One nasty cookie sheet That's it Warped Stained grease covered Pretty gross No other pots or pans or cooking utensils. There were a lot of plates to eat off if. Coffee machine Glasses Sparse silverware stored in Dickey's cups Felt like a college dorm room or bachelor pad. Yes I have been spoiled by Airbnb that provide more things to cook and heat up food so maybe it's just me. Not many hotel/motel room have kitchens so maybe I expected too much. The fridge and oven did work, but I'd throw in some pots and pans for those that want to cook. Fold down couches came in handy in living room. Some of the light switches didn't work unless you forced them up or down..I dunno Top socket in bedroom didn't work but bottom socket did. Overall we enjoyed it

Paranormal Activity Cut Our Visit Short!…read more We were looking forward to a relaxing weekend at Belle Oaks and were drawn in by the charming photos and description. But from the moment we arrived, it was clear that--while still beautiful--the inn was showing signs of wear, a faded echo of its restored glory from 20 years ago. What we liked: The property retains a nostalgic charm, with antiques adorning every corner. The hosts greeted us warmly and shared a bit of the inn's history. To their credit, they did warn us that the older electrical circuits might cause occasional flickering lights. What we didn't expect: Lights turning on and off by themselves. The television powering on in the middle of the night. Bed sheets being pulled off us while we slept. Feeling as if I was being touched and it wasn't my husband. The paranormal energy was far more intense than we'd anticipated--and ultimately, we decided to cut our trip short. Other concerns: The pool was dirty, and while breakfast was tasty, it was surprisingly sparse. As someone who's stayed in many bed and breakfasts, this was the first time I've encountered a buffet-style setup with no table settings, no water service, and a limited selection. We left both hungry and unnerved. Speaking with locals we learned that stories abound about hauntings in Gonzales.
