We had no idea what was going on because we had never had legal troubles before, and my husband had no idea about any sort of accident he was in involving a bicycle. Regardless, he was arrested, fingerprinted, and his mugshots were taken. At first we didn't even know the date the accident had occurred. Once we were told, we figured out that my husband had been in Annapolis, Maryland working at the time of the accident, so he couldn't have been involved. Not knowing very much at all, since we had never had legal problems before, we hired a lawyer who was there at the courthouse the day the judge told us we would need a lawyer. We had little confidence in the lawyer we initially found, and luckily we were referred by a family member to Mr. Rosenthall. Mr. Rosenthall was very professional. He did not take short-cuts and went through the process to subpoena the witnesses who saw my husband working in Maryland the day of the accident (which happened here in Virginia). When we did appear before a judge, to get an extension (if I recall correctly), it was clear that Mr. Rosenthall was well respected amongst his peers in the way they talked to him and about him. Our confidence in his ability to prove my husband's innocence was so important to us because the stress this situation put on my husband, myself, and our three children was horrible. Mr. Rosenthall helped to relieve our anxiety with his reassuring words and his professional demeaner and actions. He called us last week to let us know that our case was being dismissed. Even though we didn't have to go to trial over this, we know that Mr. Rosenthall was completely prepared to defend my husband if it had. He shared with us the angle he would take and what evidence he would use. We made the best decision we could have in switching attorneys. Now I know that if we ever find ourselves with legal troubles again, we will call Mr. Rosenthall immediately.

Sure, I tried online will and trust services (including my friend, S.O.'s), but I was really unsure of how "legal" those documents were. I didn't want my big ticket items (i.e. car, house, etc.) to end up in a trust that wasn't valid. Surprisingly, there aren't that many advertisements for will and trust lawyers. However, I did find Mr. Brian Bishop's website. I e-mailed his office and was shocked as to the level of detail and recommendations that they provided even before my (FREE information session - you have to register, though, so the office knows someone is showing up). That's right, it really is free for the first session. If, for some reason you decide to go with another lawyer, they don't bother you... I really liked that). Another plus was his legal assistant Liz. She was very gracious, but sharp as a knife with any issues you may have. Eventually, after scoping out some other places, I decided to go with Mr. Bishop's office. For the most part, after your initial discussion, Mr. Bishop gives you plenty of time to think about what you really want in your documents. Although he writes up your documents, expect some back and forth for you to provide comments and editing. True, it is rather pricey (compared to a software program), I really felt that I got my money's worth. I was really particular with what I wanted in my documentation and Mr. Bishop was very accommodating. If memory serves me correctly, within a month or so of my initial meeting I had both a will and trust ready to go. The only thing I really knew about lawyers was the lawyer jokes, but after working with Mr. Bishop, I really have a favourable view now. I will definitely be back if I need any of his other legal services. Tell him his youngest client ever sent you (the Asian lady who is a big fan of hello kitty).

Got connected with Jason Perash via the Off The Record app and he said he would take my case. Asked…read morehim to let me know if there was anything he needed from me. No response. The court date comes up and I reach out again to make sure he is going to show for the hearing. No response. I find out after the trial that he did not show for the hearing, and when he finally got back to me he said he could file for an appeal, which he then requested more money from me for. I then told him that I wanted a refund, which just after my response, he closed the case as "resolved", as if he did anything at all! Got in contact with Off The Record and they reopened the case and are continuing the investigation in which they said they would issue a refund for. Extremely shady and unprofessional. I do not recommend working with him.
