This place is crazy. So, later, we check out The Harvester. I don't know how you graduate from a renovated train depot doing community events to a center that has big name celebrities - frequently - but they did. The place is excellent. Great parking, great location, easy entrance, nice concession stand, not crowded. The stage is RIGHT THERE. In fact, we went to go see Colin Hay (lead singer of Men at Work with an impressive solo career since then) a few months ago and he made the comment on stage that he was glad that he had invested in a good nose hair trimmer and could flare his nose with confidence. Acoustics are great, tickets prices are reasonable. I could just go on and on...

They really broke it out and delivered with the 12 epic musicians onstage collaborating. I will say that the new 'COVID friendly' format with the musicians spread over 3 weekends detracted from the festival vibe. With such a late start each day, camping onsite doesn't give you better access. Fewer bands, fewer vendors, and fewer food options as well... altho the food was great! Hoping for a return to the full day of music!

It has certainly calmed down a bit, and I hear that it's much more family friendly. But that first year was absolutely amazing. Don't get me wrong, there were tons of kids there, but as a parent, please be aware that if you're going with kids, you absolutely have to keep your eyes on them 100% of the time, they could easily get lost with that kind of turnout. I stood at a high point that first night, and I watched everyone milling around like ants on a lawn, it was like watching ants (except people were wearing glow stick necklaces, which made it even cooler). Truly amazing. I think the music was the best that first year too. Food vendors everywhere! The variety was unreal. The porta potty system was as expected, rough! But I gotta say they certainly tried!! Never seen so many porta potties in my life One of these days I will certainly go back when the music lineuo changes a bit. Hasn't been my music taste for a few years. But everyone reading, you should certainly go for the experience. Just be safe!

I rarely say anything is outstanding but the shrimp were perfectly fried, not overly breaded or tough. And the portion size was more than generous! Their fries were the perfect texture of crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Sooo good! My husband ordered chicken quesadilla and said that they were the best he's ever had. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. If I had to say anything negative, it would be that the silverware was on the cheap side but the food was so good, it didn't really detract from the dining experience. So glad we decided to go there. It is definitely my new go to place for shrimp. The only thing missing was the ocean.

Ever since my experience at zipps I have had a rough time adjusting to the grill setting and sometimes panic a bit when eating at various restaurants. I walked into this grill fully expecting a rough time on my end and all of the trauma rushing back like a water stream on a windy day; but the second I stepped into the grill I felt a overwhelming yet relaxing weight get lifted off of my shoulder as if I had been drowned my whole life and just got a moment to breathe at the Big Lick Tropical Grill. As I venture through my life I see more and more I do not fit in many places and often have a rough time; for the system society has built is only a cookie cutter for what a man should to be. I walked into the Big Lick Tropical Grill with an expectation, an expectation that I would have a good dining experience and tasty food. but the more and more I look back at my time from Big Lick Tropical Grill the more it seems that there is something truly special about that place, something I have never felt before such as a second of peace or a genuine human. I would like to say this is the best grill I have been to and ever will go to, if only i could move to the small town of Lynchburg but my rockstar lifestyle prevents me. Big Lick Tropical Grill has changed the way I view the world and perceive human interaction, from the bottom of my heart I love this place and highly recommend
