My husband and I shared a bottle of Riesling along with a charcuterie board. They have such a vast selection of wines you are sure to find something you enjoy. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming.

Great ambiance. The menu didn't fit with the atmosphere. Small sandwiches and bags of chips. We will definitely return for drinks.

They have a short but absolutely wonderful menu where every choice is a winner. It is an amazing spot to enjoy quality time relaxing or sharing a glass with special people. Highly recommend! After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I was also awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Stave & Cork in Downtown Salem, Virginia is a perfect example. As soon as I arrived, an elegant yet friendly lady greeted and welcomed me, explaining this unique establishment and what it had to offer. I explained how today I came to learn about the place and have dinner with a non-alcoholic drink since I was driving. She served me a glass of water and explained the different items on the menu. The menu included artisanal cheeses, charcuterie boards, house-made dips, and made-to-order paninis, as well as a Cheesecake Flight sweet. I ordered the Peaks of Otter Panini which contained Pulled Pork, Swiss Cheese, Pickles, and Mustard. And was served with kettle fried potato chips. While I waited for my order to be served on one of their beautiful polished walnut tables, I observed how some guests had a Wine Flight paired with a Charcuterie Board. And how their knowledgeable staff and owner guided the guests through unique varietals. When my food was ready it was brought to my table. The Peaks of Otter Panini was amazing. It had fresh, juicy pieces of pork, that together with the Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard tasted more like a gourmet Cuban Sandwich. And the chips were also fresh and crispy. Before leaving I walked around and noticed they had a back dining room as well as an outside dining area. Their wine selection focused on small, boutique wineries, offering a diverse range of local, domestic, and international wines. They also had some shelves full of local artists woodwork items for sale. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and its high-quality food, wines, and products from local artists. On my way out I met with a local couple of friends and remained talking with them for almost an hour. Again, I highly recommend this place and am looking forward to returning with some friends.

Wow! This place knows how to make some pasta. I have ordered from here several times and have been…read moremore than satisfied each time. Not Your Mama's Pasta started out at the Blacksburg Farmers Market and ended up opening a brick and mortar store due to their popularity. They offer Roman styled pizzas and handmade pastas. The eatery is located in downtown Blacksburg and parking could be tricky. The size of the restaurant is also not super large, so keep that in mind. I do appreciate the ambiance of the interior though. The service is always quick and very friendly as well! Their Roman styled pizzas are decent, but the pasta is definitely the star of the show here! Roman pizza uses fermented dough, making the texture more like a focaccia. However, it isn't the same as a Sicilian styled pizza. The pizza isn't the best Roman pizza I've had, but it ins't bad at all. Now the pasta is the real star of the show here! All of their pasta is handmade with local ingredients and ingredients imported from Italy. The quality of the ingredients really enhances the flavors of their dishes. The pasta is quite rich, the noodles are cooked al dante, and the sauces burst with flavors. I have ordered several pasta dishes including the Cacio e Pepe, Pistachio Cacio e Pepe, and the Carbonara. All three were absolutely amazing! The Cacio e Pepe includes pecorino and black pepper, with a luscious, creamy sauce. The Pistachio Cacio e Pepe includes pecorino, black pepper, and pistachios that are blended into the sauce. This too is a very good dish, full of great flavor. The Carbonara was my favorite with bacon, egg yolk, pecorino, and black pepper. This dish was rich and heavier, but in the best way. There were ample amounts of bacon, balanced out with the egg yolk and tangy cheese. I would recommend any of their pasta dishes any day of the week! Overall, Not Your Mama's Pasta is a wonderful establishment here in Blacksburg. They offer a nice variety of authentic Italian dishes ranging from pastas to Roman pizzas. I have not been disappointed with anything I have ordered from here. Everything is made with high quality ingredients too. I really enjoy ordering from here and look forward to returning!

Let's start with the positives: They were flexible, let us change the wine for soft drinks. Despite getting there right at dinner rush, they got the food out quick. Portion sizes were good. The bad: The food itself was okay, not mind blowing. Would say the pizza was good, but it seems like we both got edge slices that seemed to be more bread than topping, luck of the draw there maybe. The dessert was the saving grace, simple and not too sweet. Overall a positive experience but i'd be more inclined to give this 3.5 if Yelp had half stars.

Owned…read moreby the same people behind Cocoa Mia (the delicious chocolate store next door), the quality of the food here is amazing and locally sourced. The owner knows their limited and ever-changing menu well and is happy to explain how everything is made and what's in it. Me and my boyfriend were seated 40 minutes before they closed, but my family arrived 10 minutes before closing but they kindly accommodated them as well! They also perfectly handled the allergies and intolerances of our table, the waitress went out of her way to make sure everything was correct. Not only is the food affordable with large portions, but it is all absolutely delicious. I got the savory crepes, my boyfriend got the steak Benedict bowl special, and my family members got variations of the same for their lunch. Everything was spectacular. The steak Benedict bowl special was the standout for us here, the steak pieces were perfectly cooked. There's indoor and outdoor seating and both are beautiful with great views! With the French vibes of the place and the care given to each dish in the menu, I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable our family meal was. Definitely support this locally run establishment during your travels to Floyd!

Service was spot on, ambiance was relaxing and cozy, timing and temperature of everything was perfection! Thank you for a fabulous evening and very happy tummies! The bonus- we grabbed LOTS of truffles, macaroons, and cookies next door to finish off our evening at home with cocktails and conversation!

Seriously, or nearly so, think how much better, as compared to standard issue childbearing, grafting would work for humans, like first of all no more Lamaze breathing classes for dads (after all of which are done, many moms go for the drugs anyway). then as one generation runs out of things to do in life, rather than uproot the whole parent just insert the next generation into the trunk, thereby hopefully eliminating adolescence when most of the body develops. Fungi and molds are even better as they mature in hours, are much more resilient and easier to distribute plus they're totally anonymous: parents don't have to see how their best intentions didn't bear fruit, and their offspring have no one else to blame. the spores of these life forms are quite durable, even tolerate the conditions found in outer space. Future myco-human lifeforms could be launched by the billions from earth unceremoniously, hoping a few might land somewhere favorable to germinate rather than being sucked into and incinerated by a star. And no alphabet or arithmetic to learn in grammar school. Being a family mammal on the other hand has major downsides. an example being that if you're known to be ever-ready to venture wherever someone will buy your plane ticket, they call upon you to go see how cousin Luke or uncle Amos or whoever is doing. The boring relatives stay put back home but the black sheep migrate over the years to places you would likely not otherwise go. So it is that I was driving through central Virginia on a moonless night, on just such a family mission and frankly need a roadie, a restorative for my lagging spirits, which is why I turned off the state highway and onto a county road to see where it went, and came to this town which is how I happened onto rocky mount's finest establishment, The Alley Cat Bar. It's great to find places like this and is the reason I prefer to drive in unknown territories using old outdated AAA maps instead of gps. Not every side road exit brings you to an historic and quaintly cool town like Rocky Mount, but it's the occasional one that ends in Rocky Mount that keeps you in the wanderlust game. It' was just what I was looking for at this moment, a break from driving the dark rural Virginia roads, local music and a friendly beer crowd. I was ready. Most small towns, not much to do, so can't be too choosey but lucky here to have this place, among others by the way but none so much my kind, live music potentially a little rough around the edges crowd but, after all, it's central va.
