The Alps Candy is a MUST stop for us every time we pass by. It's gotten more expensive over the years but the quality is still the same. Everything I've had is good. My husband's favorite is the Peanut Butter Crunch. I recently tried the dark chocolate covered version and it might be my new favorite. Their fudges are also amazing and worth the price imo. The inside is small but full of so many great things. We've gotten mustards, hot sauces, and syrups. You can even get jars of Bavarian cream! There are several parking spots up front and more across the street (though I'd advise against that since you'd be crossing the highway). I would try to bring cash since they're in a super dead area service wise and sometimes their card reader takes a while. If you're looking for great candy, it's a no brainer to stop here! read more

The Alps Candy is a great place to stop and get a snack while on the road traversing the Cascade Mountain passes, a small gift for the parents, and a peace offering when visiting my uncle and step-aunt (yep... she even introduces me in social settings as "HIS niece") in Cashmere. Turns out a little peanut butter fudge bought on the way to spend a few days with my uncle and his wife and presented as soon as I arrived at their house was the perfect peace offering to elicit some at least semi-decent conduct from a normally difficult to vile step-aunt. For that I can thank The Alps Candy and the delicious fudge they make that appeased both my uncle and step-aunt's taste buds. One of my favorites here it the two-packs of truffles coming in a wide range of flavors. I like to try flavors, but also don't want so large of a portion that if I eat the whole thing I get sick of the treat. And the two-pack offering is the perfect size for a filling treat. It is also the perfect quantity for my parents. They are not opposed to a treat, however, it needs to be just that, a small serving of something delicious. In that context, getting one or two truffle two-packs is a perfect gift if I find a flavor that sounds like them. Have yet to find a truffle or fudge offering that is even only mediocre. Everything has been delicious and the workers friendly. As for parking, the highway running past the store is curvy, so make sure to keep one's eyes open for the shop on approach because it can kind of sneak up on one if paying only partial attention. There is a small parking lot directly in front of the store that I have not had the nerve to brake hard and park at yet. Instead I ride the dust off the road into the more expansive dirt pull-off parking area across the highway, tires screeching as I brake hard it is my announcement to the universe that I have arrived for truffles... Getting back to my car is a game of Frogger with vehicles barreling down in both directions on the highway, truffles and I make it intact. Mission accomplished. read more

Calling all peanut butter lovers! That would be me. I have been to the Alps Candy store before but made an amazing discovery this time - Peanut Butter Crunch. It was SOOOOO good. Image the center of butterfingers but more pea-nutty, softer, and not as sticky. The PB flavor was perfect with just the right amount of sweetness. I'm salivating as I write this review. WOW! We just came back to our VRBO with a TREASURE TROVE of delights from ALPS CANDY in Leavenworth! YAY! STOP HERE!!! Yes, it is a local landmark (opened in 1945, I looked it up), and it continues to be a local rockstar because it is THAT GOOD! Here's what I love: Their brittles are fantastic! Oh my goodness! The almond brittle is dangerously yummy, and the almond-coconut one is EVEN BETTER! Please note the lack of crumbs in the bag! The pieces are thick and big (without a bunch of useless crumbly stuff...yes, I know, I already said that but it bears repeating). I am aching to try using a bag in my next batch of oatmeal cookies! My husband was over the moon with their selection of groovy, hard-to-find candies and candy bars! The cherry mash candy bar is the best and FRESH! Now add a pretty epic selection of condiments and hot sauces! Craig felt so proud of himself by only buying half a dozen different ones (but we do have two more days here, so who knows what will show up back in Snohomish by the end of the stay, hahaha!). They are helpful and knowledgeable without being pushy (or, worse yet, inattentive). We will definitely be back! Stop there; it is right on the river-side of Highway 2. . I had a credit card situation that I didn't realize until after I got home so I called the shop and was shocked and surprised to be treated with the very most respect and understanding. I was going to try to drive back up there and get my fudge that I didn't get the first time around I wasn't able to do so. But the manager Mandy, who I must say it was a fantastic person for the way she treated my situation and helped me, did what needed to be done so that I was happy and that the situation was rectified. And I must say in today's society in retail having the customer come first without a doubt was a new experience for me in a very long time. Igive the highest praise to her and her staff for their customer service and their respect that they give us. This is a fantastic little story to visit anytime you are up that way. So don't forget to stop even if you're not up that way go out of your way it's worth a trip. Inventory is getting kinda hard and sticky, price is getting up there, same as in town, and after a 2 hrs drive... to be greeted with a sign that says spend money here sorry no pisser...note to self if I ever open roadside candy store with a million things to shop.....might sell alot more if people were pissin themselves while they spend money at my hyway roadside store.... not convenient anymore....just continue into town and spend your money, cause the didn't want mine anymore. read more

Came all the way from Texas and heard about the place on a 3 hour drive to get there. Was really excited to go in but the family that got there first were told no bathrooms, not even an outside potty to use. After such a long drive I was prepared to spend at least $100.00 and I am sure the rest of the Family would have dropped a fair amount also if we could have relieved ourselves first. The lady at the counter was down right rude about it. My Grandson had to go so bad I sent him around the back to find the best place he could. With that attitude I wouldn't be surprised if they go out of business in a year. They have nothing you can't get just a little farther down the road and if you aren't stopping after the long dive through the canyons for a potty break then you might as well keep going to Leavenworth. read more

I've been stopping here for many years. Although the quality of the sweets and the hot sauces remain top shelf there have been some less than friendly changes. Samples are no longer offered or provided. Restrooms are off limits now. There isn't even available trash receptacles. The place has gone very cheapo. This is a fun little stop off the side of the road on the way to Leavenworth. They have homemade fudge and they allowed us to sample a couple different types. They also have a whole aisle of salt water taffy and a bunch of other candies and hot sauces and things. We got some caramel corn in addition to the fudge. Everything was tasty. They have a beautiful setting right on the river and the guy who was serving the fudge was great. read more

Given that their location is the first business after going through the pass, one might imagine that people needing to pee is what gets a significant amount of people in the door. Not making their restroom available to customers while also being generally unpleasant is a great way to get off on the wrong foot with paying customers and diminish their public perception. We stopped in our way home from the Gorge. This store is like being in a library not very welcoming for kids or actually people. In fairness we did throw our empty coffee cup in the bathroom trash for which they followed us out of the store and said FDA does not alow any "outside garbage". So we threw it in the dumpster for which the girl came out yelling it's thier dumpster and regulated by the FDA. FDA doesn't regulate your garbage. In any case if you feel like supporting a lackluster and down right crazy people working there store good on you. We spent 80 bucks on candy and didn't appreciate the attitude and won't be back. read more

Food is just ok, nothing spectacular. Customer service is a negative 10. Terrible treatment of their customers. Lady at the register was rude, unprofessional and seemed to be unhappy at her job. They need to find some new employees or they are going to eventually go under. I've been going there for years but after this last visit, I will never go back. Went in on July 28 to see no bagged chocolate candies, their excuse its too hot to ship. However there's cold shipping everywhere. The taffy is way over priced and the kids candy below was stripped of 90 percent of the candy with no cotton candy either, it's like they forgot what they sell. The lady downstairs was rude too. The counter help upstairs was ok but nothing to write anything positive about. The fudge being pre wrapped into 1/4 bags is stupid, the fun part was seeing the big trays of fudge and selecting your own weighted amount. No samples. Are you kidding, thats how you sell more! It was almost like hey we have no bagged chocolate so you havd to buy the fudge. It was so odd. The whole place is a downer now. Save yourself the time and money and just keep driving on by. read more

Shoppers beware! My friend visiting from out of the country went on to buy treats. Came back an we found out they had overcharged him by $17!I went back in with him- hey honest mistakes happen. Rather than a friendly we are sorry, the woman became belligerent when I pointed out the over-charge. Were they over charging and pocketing the cash at end of day? Who knows, but be nice. This place, the little old lady and her man child can GO FUDGE THEMSELVES. (Pun intended) I usually hardly ever leave bad reviews especially because I am in the customer service industry AND during Covid, especially. I was leaving Leavenworth and wanted to stop by and get some last minute taffy and peanut butter fudge. I was with my husband and young son, so we're both worn out after a very long day and decided to wait in the car, perfectly fine! I was going to be in an out. Well, if anyone am has been there you know the place has zero cell service, so I walked in and asked if could use the wifi (I wanted to transfer some money so I could buy stuff, I'd already "spent my limit" but fuck it, I was on las minute trip and wanted to buy local). The little man told me "they weren't allowed to give out the password", and this smug old bitch chimes in with "even if we had wifi it wouldn't pick up the signal", like I'm not smart enough to know how wifi works or that my phone isn't smarter than I am and automatically picks it up but really WTF DOES THAT EVEN MEAN. I looked at her quite perplexed and was like "my phone is picking up a wifi signal, so clearly you have it but per policy can't give out the password and I understand". They both rudely just glare, like they have better things to do then sell fucking candy and explain how wifi works. Save yourself some self respect and humiliation and don't come in here. Also, THERE WAS ZERO PEOPLE in this store. So much for shopping local, Amazon can have my money in this case. read more

This is by far the best variety shop outside of leavenworth at non-tourist prices. I make a POINT of going there every summer when I go camping. The stores entire first floor is covered in house made taffy, chocolates, ORIGINAL swedish fish and a plethura of other candies...ooohh and FUDGE that destroys Seattle Fudge Co.. But wait theres more...... The basements consists of housemade varities of ketchups, mustards, BBQ sauces, burger sauces and oh yes about 200 different varities of HOT Sauces. Now Im not talkin about burn your cornhole, Daves Insanity, intestinal acid. I mean good ol fashioned, FLAVORFUL hot sauces. Ones that go for not only quantity of heat but the quality of the flavor.... I will be there agin in 2 weeks again and plan on spending a nice penny there.... So on your way to Leavenworth next time about 5 minutes to town, right before the little fish hatchery dam is "The Alps". I've stopped here several times over the years. Years meaning 40 years, and I've always enjoyed it pretty much. There is a nice selection of locally made, and some not so locally (at all) made products. Lots of candy, hoards of fudge and taffy and many other treats. It's a kids paradise but I will warn you: #1. The staff can be crotchety. I suppose they're hired staff and not mom and pop, which usually makes a difference, and they probably get bombarded with tourists, but they're not always friendly and that is a problem. 2. A LOT of their sauces are cloyinging sweet as well as their jams. Over the years I think I have tried them all, there is a sample table in the back, and most taste like a slurry of sugar with a few spices added. I really wish they'd cut down on the sugar as it would make a more complex product, but alas, sugar is cheap. 3. The brittle is one dimensional. Just sweet. I don't think they add salt to the recipe which gives brittle a roundness of flavor. It's a disappointment, but kids like it, just don't get it if you know what good brittle tastes like, you'll be disappointed. Okay, those are my basic warnings. Back to the standoffish staff. I do feel for them. They give away free fudge samples: (which are delicious BTW) so while we were there this time a woman at the counter asked for a sample of every single fudge. Every. Single. Fudge. Come on! Have some self respect and manners, no wonder that the staff is crotchety. read more

Spread and displayed buffet-style, one randomly collect the assorted flavors and let the colors explode. Then comes the taffy magic and wonders swirl the tongue.
