Fun stop on our visit to Cashmere with the kids. It's a little shop where they sell all kinds of different Liberty Orchard candies. For a touristy place, the prices are good. There's free samples so you can try all the different flavors. The candies are sold in boxes and in small little sizes so you can get several of your favorites. We were thinking of taking a tour, but the girl told us because it was a weekend, all they were doing that day was folding boxes. The best time to come is on a weekday. Best to call to find out. The store is delightfully set up. All the selections are well marked and very well labeled. We have always liked their product and their selection is wonderful. We waited 30 minutes for a tour of the factory. This wait time gave us sufficient time to peruse the store and make our selections. However, the tour lacked so much. There was no information about the founders, no information about what was currently going on, and very little in the actual tour to catch your eye or your interest. So much more could be done to make this a real tour. It was so disinteresting that I forgot to take any pictures. read more

A great last-minute stop on our way back from Leavenworth! This small factory outlet store entices you with delicious samples that cause you to buy loads of their boxed products (at ridiculously low prices) which you will eat too much of on the drive home. Spontaneously decided to check out this candy store and it was an awesome surprise considering I had no idea what to expect. Upon entering the person working was getting ready to start the next tour so I joined right in. It's very brief, but really interesting to see how the candy is made. The tour guide was really friendly also. After the tour I tried some free samples, looked around and grabbed some more candies to try out. The pre packaged candies are really delicious, but some of the self serve/bag yourself candies were a bit stale and hard to chew. There is an array of souvenirs for sale also as well as an affordable $1 coffee/hot cocoa area. Restrooms and a bit of seating available that looks out the windows. Super nice place to visit! My family and I stopped by here on July the 3rd. We had a wonderful time walking through the very clean air conditioned store. Looking at all of the delicious looking fruit gels (lack of a better description) or fruit jellies. Either way they are delicious, the free samples were wonderful to taste and eat! I must confess that even though there was not a sign, we tried to limit ourselves to one tasting of each flavor but I have to be honest I had more than my share. They are super yummy! We were helped by a wonderful employee (her third day) I wish I could remember her name, but she was so super nice and helpful in helping us that it made the experience even better! Aplets and Coplets! My aunt, my uncle, and I walked past the main store (Liberty Orchards) on each of our walks through Cashmere when I was visiting them in November 2020. The last day we walked past the store on Thursday the 12th of November 2020 we walked past right as two people were walking out of the store to their vehicle with a number of purchases. Eyeing them I decided that I would make one quick stop on my way out of town and back home to Shoreline that midday. There is a parking lot off to the side of the store as well as street parking available straight in front of the store front. Notices regarding COVID-19 precautions were posted on the front door to the shop. Inside the store has its merchandise beautifully arranged in different displays. I love aplets and cotlets and can eat an 8 ounce container full of these sweet treats easily in one sitting. Trying to stay healthy during the holidays and thinking of my family I decided to purchase some of the sugar-free sweets for my Grandad. He lives in a senior home and it can be hard to get him things at times, so I got the sugar-free candies as the workers are more likely to let him have that. It wasn't too busy when I stopped. The worker at the front counter was jovial and gracious in her interactions. I even got a warm welcome when I entered the store. Right in the middle of Cashmere Washington, it was a fun stop off from our trip to Leavenworth. We wanted to do a factory tour but found out it's only in operation on weekdays. On the weekend they still played a video for us to see the factory process and it was fun seeing some of the old artifacts. We loved the factory store deals. This is a historical landmark and gem of a place. You must stop by if passing through. These treats are such a delight and every time I eat these I always think of Edmond from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. A scene particularly in the book is when the white witch hands Edmond addition of Turkish delights and I never knew that these were based off that but I had a feeling because of how old is described and liberty Orchards even sells Turkish delights! These are great to have all year round and awesome that you're able to order and have them shipped online across the country... Especially around Christmas time! It took only about 15 minutes from Leavenworth (including ~8 minutes to route 97) and was a great sentimental detour for me. 5* Their fruit and nut candies were given to me when I first visited Seattle almost 30 years ago along with tours of Pike Place Market and the Space Needle so I see them as iconic to the Seattle experience. Had to make a pilgrimage here after hearing they were closing on June 1st. Was relieved to hear there is a possible buyer so it's no longer June 1st. Bought a whole bunch to share just in case (and since expiration date isn't until early 2022). It's a small simple store and factory but it felt good to have been there. They have short factory tours but it had already closed for the day when we got there shortly before closing time. Loved seeing the beautiful original stove in the store. We love this place! Perfect little stop between Wenatchee and Leavenworth if you are making that trip! Great local twist on Turkish Delights (they aren't Turkish Delight...but kinda...they even make some that are more traditional with the pistachios and rose water :D If you are in the area on a day they are in production, the tours are great! After 7 or 8 trips to this store, we only got the tour the last time we were there because it was a Friday (usually we were there on Sunday mornings and there's no action)...this place is always a priority because our kid loves the candy but not the nuts and the only varieties you can find in most markets are the ones with nuts. So, we stockpile, he hordes them for a year...or so...and then we find a reason to be in the area again! But this time...finally after years of pushing the nut versions on him...he finally admitted that he likes them better! We can start buying them anywhere...everywhere! The factory tour is brief but it's really cool to see how aplets and cotlets are made! Kind of a mini Wonka factory. The shop is amazing, they have a huge selection of treats so even if you don't like the signature item there is probably something for you! I bought a lot of chocolates but after sampling them after I got home and finding out they're delicious and really good quality, I wish I'd gotten even more. The Orchard Bars are amazing too and are a great deal. We stopped in since it was raining and we wanted an indoor activity, but it's awesome and we'll be back next time we're in the area no matter the weather. read more

This was my one and only unplanned stop this trip but after discovering this in the inn's guest directory and seeing how close we were to the Liberty Orchards Factory (15-20 minutes away in Cashmere), I had to squeeze in at least a stop by the store even though I did not have time for the factory tour. My dad is a huge fan of Liberty Orchards products requesting Fruit Festives and/or Aplets and Cotlets when available locally during the holiday season. The prices were reasonable and much cheaper than buying them at home and the variety of flavors (berry fruits, orchard fruits, tropical fruits) and options (nut-free, sugar-free, chocolate covered) include many I have never seen before. This place is located in downtown Cashmere. For some reason, it seems more hyped up than it actually is. The factory shop offers rather limited selection and there isn't too much to buy. After trying their samples, I was a bit underwhelmed. Most of the items were too sweet and sticky for me (kind of taste like gummy bears). I'm thinking (this) one is for the candy store and one is for the company and their tour. I remember the good old days. You could walk into a Payless Drug Store, currently Rite Aid, in the Pac NW and, near the candy bars, could opt for these inexpensive sleeves containing two of these delicious, decadent, powdered sugar coated, squishy, nutty, fruit filled treats. Most likely, we were introduced to Aplets and Cotlets (with apples and apricots, respectively). Then, Fruit Delights were also available, with flavors such as orange, raspberry, and strawberry. The problem was that, like Oreos and cashews, you had to watch yourself, especially if in box candy form with all the little squares containing different flavors. You might find yourself eating many of them before even gift wrapping the box. Heck, I've even taken them overseas to relatives and friends who really liked these concoctions. I still see them seasonally and, now, the box containing them is larger, has more of these treats, and, accordingly, is more expensive. Now, those small packages previously in the candy bar area appear to be a thing of the past. But go ahead and indulge in this vice every now and then and buy that big box! Liberty Orchards in Cashmere, WA, probably about halfway between the Bavarian inspired town of Leavenworth and Wenatchee, along the Columbia River in Central Washington, is where these treats are made. Love this place! I have now been here four times and done the tour twice. What a well kept secret! Who knew the world's supply of these amazing chews comes from Cashmere, WA?! I love that they have their imperfect chews in sale boxes along the side/back wall and I especially appreciate all of the different flavors they make use of in their various boxes. I bring these as gifts for people from out of state and they absolutely love them. It's too bad I can only get certain flavors at this location -- the CVS and Bartells in Seattle only get a couple varieties and I love so many of them! We unexpectedly enjoyed our pit stop at the legendary home to Aplets & Cotlets today. We've seen the signs off the freeway several times while up in this area and never detoured. Since my brother is a huge fan of the Pineapple Macadamia Cotlets we decided to stop and get some for him. I've never liked Aplets & Cotlets, but since there were free samples I figured I'd give them a second chance. I was pleasantly surprised! I don't know if it's because they're more fresh right at the factory or the fact you can try specific flavors versus an entire assortment box, either way I enjoyed them. When I say "try them" I mean try them...there were options like walnut apple, blueberry almond, all the tropical Cotlets, orange jelly tracks covered in white chocolate, and peppermint ones too. The sample options are insane. I was sweeted out just with samples by the time I left and had to put on the breaks before I reached overload. I had no idea and was impressed by the assortment of products Liberty Orchards distributes. They had homemade jams, chocolate covered everything: fruit, nuts, caramels, and espresso beans, soup mixes, coffees, teas, and all types of gummy candies. They also featured other products from vendors local to Washington. We ended up leaving with bags full of goodies for many friends and family (more than just my brother). We even got a bag of the Blueberry Almond Cotlets (yum) for ourselves. We loved the fact that we didn't have to buy an entire assortment box of flavors we didn't like. You actually can go on a free guided tour of their behind the scenes fruit and cotlet making, which is located in the rear of the store. It's a quick 10 - 15 minute tour and then you can sample some fruit cotlets. Or you can buy cotlets as a gift, which they can ship to an address. Or you can simply take some home with you. I sampled a few treats and then had a combination box shipped to my parents in Florida for a small fee. Such a cute little factory and country store! Just a 15 minute drive from Leavenworth we found Aplets and Cotlets. I saw an ad in one of the maps of Leavenworth and I had to go and see it for myself. Surprisingly when we got there at 10am on a Tuesday morning, there was a decent sized group of people waiting to go on the factory tour. Within a few minutes we all gathered in front of the factory doors and put on hair nets. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the operations of how the candies are made and gave us a good mini history about the factory. The candy factory was definitely WAY smaller than I thought it would be, we walked in and out of 2 rooms and that was basically it! Watching the workers pack all the candies reminded me of the episode of Lucy in the chocolate factory :). The tour only lasted about 10 min. Best part about the country store is the FREE samples...yes, I said FREE!!!! Just don't go crazy now. I had a few just to taste and of course it suckered me into buying candies, jams and chocolates that I didn't need. Definitely a fun experience. Not a destination place, I'd only recommend going if your visiting around the area. We were in and out (including the tour) in less than 30 min. read more

Incredibly fresh compared to the ones from local drug stores, and a huge variety of candies that aren't widely available elsewhere--including licorice, and chocolate, caramel, and espresso varieties! I started with Aplets & Cotlets. Then I moved on to Fruit Delights. I admit that I have a problem. I love these and I find that now they have become seasonal. I can only find my true loves at Christmas time. It wasn't always this way. I was able to buy these lovely treats year round. I am a fan of "locoum" and these are a bit sweeter and more tender.
