Whenever I am in town, I have to stop in and grab a massive bag of huckleberry taffy. The quality is always superior -- definitely the best shop to get taffy in in Leavenworth -- and the pricing is super cheap. The taffy is pick-your-own and you pay by weight. The store is quite small but if you're there when its not super busy, you can spend plenty of time exploring all of the fun and delicious treats they have. Of course, saltwater taffy is the main attraction of this store, but they also carry metal signs, gift items, trinkets and souvenirs. Salt water taffy spot in Leavenworth? Well, why not? Bins and bins of uber sweet salt water taffy are sold at the Taffy Shop for a very fair price by weight. In my book, a food venue finishes first over a souvenir shop any old day. Why not flavored taffy? Chocolate chip cookie, molasses, mango, strawberry banana, pineapple, buttered popcorn (not a fan) and lots of others, by weight? Verdict: lots of sweet fun. Admittedly, it was disspointing to find out (from an earlier Yelper) that they don't make their taffy in-house, because the big taffy pulling machine twirling in the window does seem like a bit of a ruse, if taffy is brought from elsewhere and dumped out of a boxes onto their taffy floor. The taffy is soft and tasty though, not that I'm a taffy person, but I do have a few sweet tooth's in my family. There are few things in this life that I absolutely cannot pass up. I have always considered myself a person who is fairly immune to addictions. But there are two things, biscuits and gravy and salt water taffy. As we planned our trip to Leavenworth I didn't think much about taffy like I would on a coastal trip, but lo and behold, the Mother of all Taffy shops resides here. You come to expect a variety of flavors these days from taffy so for a place to really inspire me to gush about it, well you can bet it had best be special. The Taffy Shop is all that and more. It's a small shop, tucked away in a building on the opposite side of the street from most of the shops in the village but good signage points the way. You walk in and a load bearing wall blocks the true bounty so you just think, "Quaint, where's the taffy? Oh look, lunch boxes..." and you turn right and look at an amazing variety of lunch boxes from all manner of movies, tv shows, companies when to your left a sea of colors in little semi translucent wax wrappers catches your eye. You think, "How many flavors are there?" Then your brain answers, "A lot!" and it's right. It's less than $7 a pound too, you start running down your times tables from school with 7's. All the usual flavors are there but there are so many others that you just must try! Pomegranate? Buttered popcorn? Blueberry muffin? Red Licorice!?! Frosted Cupcake? Pineapple? And it just goes on and on and on so much so that you do two laps of the taffy smorgasbord just to make sure you don't miss anything (or three)! Another wall of lunch boxes! Lucille Ball and Vitameatavegiman! Star Trek! The Beatles! Peanuts! Oh, and there are other candies too, but really they just play second fiddle to people not sophisticated enough to place taffy on top of the candy pyramid. If I win the lottery you can find me in Leavenworth, I'll have bought this place and will live out my days selling taffy and lunchboxes. I can think of no higher calling. read more

Cute shop for what it is. I guess it's the original taffy shop and has been opened since the early eighties? if I remember correctly. Tons of taffy, obviously! There are free samples for you at the beginning of the taffy line. Woo hoo! I had the caramel corn. It was tasty, but I'm not sure I could have more than one. There's tons of little toys and knick knacks here as well. All throughout the store they have other candies too, some are oooollld throwbacks that I remember from when I was little (like the blue shark candies!). They informed me due to COVID-19 it would be difficult to make the taffy, which they will only sell fresh( so they didn't want to send me old taffy) and offered me a refund. I'd be crazy about a large selection of chocolate truffles at superb prizes way before I'd be crazy about a large selection of taffy at superb prizes. And yet here I found myself. Went on a Monday, which was not busy at all and took our time in the store. This place was fun for the large assortment of candy not just taffy. But it's the taffy selection that really caught my eye and taste buds. You are allowed to try one for free (there's also sugar free samples so really you could try 2). They have pre-sorted 1lb & 2lb bags of taffy. My wife and I got a little over 1lb of taffy we hand picked. I don't know how many pieces I snatched but I was able to get about 3 of every kind of taffy I was interested in buying for a little under $7.00. I think 7 dollars for the amount of taffy we got was a great price. Even if you are not crazy about taffy or haven't had it before LIKE MY WIFE! (What kind of American is she?) I've never been yelled at while shopping until I visited The Taffy Shop. Even though there was no signage indicating the flow of foot traffic through the store, the owner's son was extremely rude in telling me I was going the wrong way and could not proceed to look at the remainder of the shop. When I called him out on it, his mother proceeded to defend him and yell at me in front of everyone in the shop. It was humiliating and the worst case of customer service I've ever seen. If you want people to walk in a set path around your cluttered and dusty store, then you should put up a few signs instead of embarrassing someone in front of strangers and their own children. read more

It's their business but we were wearing our masks correctly which should have indicated we'd prefer the same treatment. I mean....it's just taffy. Maybe it's because I wasn't impressed by the whole Leavenworth experience but this shop is all the way at the end of the main strip. It's not just taffy though. There is a lot of olde school candy like different flavors of pop rocks and Clove gum and other things as well and olde school lunchboxes. The prices were good, and it's cool to see the taffy puller at work twisting and pulling and tossing the taffy to make it just right. Sorry for 3 stars, but it's just a candy shop. "Wow" was the first word that came into my mind when I walked into the shop. A sea of taffies neatly arranged in clearly marked bins. Paper bags were conveniently placed at the beginning of the taffy aisle with an explanation of the per pound price with a rough estimation of how many pieces are in a pound. The flavors ranged from the traditional vanilla creme to maple bacon. This was not just any regular taffy shop. The simple browsing through each bin to fill my curiosity became a sudden urge to pick up at least three pieces of taffy to sample. There was caramel creme, chocolate, apple pie, raspberry, blueberry, key lime, banana, etc. the list of flavors just seem to go on. In addition to taffies the store carries an array of other candy selections. Mini boxes of dots, candy bars, jelly beans, and other confections. They do accept debit/credit cards and I recommend spending at least $5 to avoid the processing fee. read more

I have never been more offended in my life. My husband and I came to town for the Christmas tree lighting festival. We entered the store and the owner came up to me and in a very rude tone said to me "can he not hear me only service dogs allowed in the store". My husband and disabled vet (who is hard of hearing) nor me heard him say anything before this. I kindly left the store because i had our small dog in my purse, He had his service dog so he stayed and looked around. The store has large glass windows as I wait outside and watch this man follow my husband while shaking his head and pull out his phone and start to take pictures of him!! I can see his phone through the window clear as day with my husband in the frame. I go in and ask the man if there is a problem and why is taking pictures of my husband, he gets 2 inches from my face and says " its my store i will do what i want" So I replied "if it's your store then you can tell me why are you taking pictures of my husband". Then he wants to go lie and say he was taking pictures of his employees standing behind me. I asked the man why he is lying and to delete the photos, he is now getting even closer to my face telling me he can do whatever he wants he doesn't need to delete the photos and i need to leave. As i am leaving the store my husband has now walked up and is asking what is going on. I tell him that is soon as you turned around he started taking pictures of you and shaking his head. My husband offers to pull out his ID and show the man. He changes his attitude right away realizing he was wrong but never apologizes in still insists that I am wrong he was never taking photos of my husband. Not sure what he is or was going to do with these photos but I'm sure its disgusting. read more

Ah what a joy! I will simply say I came home from my first visit to Leavenworth unfulfilled. Heck even the same brats are sold at my grocery store and is confirmed by the small print. UNTIL THE GIRLFRIEND AND I STARTED TRYING OUR TAFFY WHEN WE GOT HOME! Even the odd flavors (Chili Mango) were amazing! We see a sign that says Leavenworth's original candy store, don't believe the miswording of other stores (unquoted lol). So we had to go in. Now I will not mislead. I was expecting a place with freshmade taffy. Not the case. It is a brand that ships to candy stores all over. The brand has TONS of varitey though (as you can see from photos already on yelp with the crates) We start seeing and touring all these flavors. The person running the store was genuinely friendly (genuine enough to fool a salesman anyways). She said we were free to take and try some. Well the girlfriend was not going to turn down a free candy and after that I was HOOKED. If I hadn't tried one I wouldn't have bought one. When we got home to try all these flavors it was amazing. We had no labelling (they are labelled in store but we put them all in one bag) yet could nail 4/5 flavors when we looked them up online after guessing. Some I can remember; chili mango, spicy chocolate, cookie dough, birthday cake, mango, key lime pie, strawberrycheesecake(might be my fav), berries n cream.... Oh it goes from the crazy two flavor mixes to the plain jane strawberry. I have never been a taffy lover. Always found it bland, must be one of those old people things that reminds them of when candy was bland and tasteless (just kidding you young souled individuals :P). BUT THIS STUFF IS GOOD. Really sweet tangy and tarty. I am addicted. I won't lie. We found another shop that offered the same brand for a shy bit cheaper by the pound but with fewer options afterward, but we walked out and did not regret purchasing where we did. The Taffy Shop still offers more. Everything from candy inside toys, to packs of the old candy cigarettes (got one of those too! :P around .75) to the candies shaped like legos. Friendly atmosphere, check. Interactive employee, double check. Unique store, check. Diversity, check. Prices affordable/decent, check. With being the taffy shop as a name I feel 4 stars should be a just score here. But being the one store that stood out in a dissappointing trip. That gets 5 stars. Next time someone goes, I am giving them a $20 to bring me back another mix. P.S. Be sure to check out the Russian store right around the corner in the same building when you are done :P read more

Terrible customer service. I know it is the holiday season and the amount of customers can be overwhelming but you can't snap. If you want your customers to walk in a certain pattern around the store there should be a clearly identifiable sign. Also if you have a member of staff "attempting" to direct people they should recognizable as a staff member, not someone in a plain gray sweatshirt. Verbal directions should be concise. We customers are equally overwhelmed and confused, you don't need to be rude just because we're the thousandth customer that day to make the same mistake. read more

My Experience was bad a well. The owners were rude to my wife and referred to me as her father without knowing our relationship. They posted pictures of us on and our children apparently following us around the mall with a camera or phone. The owner was unhinged after my wife moved some socks around on a display. I didn't even know what had occurred, all I know is she came bustling into another shop in the mall where we were shopping, yelling and apparently unnerved in front of other shoppers, shopkeepers and our young children. She could of pulled my wife aside and addressed her about her issue, instead she made a scene throughout the mall. I will never shop there again! read more

Wow! This spot is definitely a little gem. For $5.95 you can fill you're stomach full with a pound of hand selected taffies that you get to choose yourself. That's roughly 60 PIECES!!!!! They have fun favors like: beer, sangria, The Elvis, banana cream, and cupcake. Just pluck a few here and a few there and enjoy the sounds of the jukebox playing in the background whilst being sugar bombed. read more
