I have to agree with ALL these reviews-this place is absolutely fantastic and they should not change a thing! First off-the owners are so FRIENDLY and kind--you can talk to them about anything and they are happy to answer questions about any of the food and/or drinks. You can tell they love owning this place and meeting customers. I have heard so much about the Pub and went for the first time yesterday with two friends. We had one of their rotating cask beers and one of their bitter regular casks which is a staple of the establishment-each beer was delicious and tasty! I had the vegan curry dish which was very tasty with veggies, rice and great spice. My friends had a dish similar to Shepherd's Pie but slightly different and cooked with more like steak stewed meat rather than lamb and we all licked our plates clean LOL. We also shared two of the desserts which were vanilla ice cream with some type of coconut cookie in it and the other was vanilla ice cream with a yummy type of strawberry sauce I think. The atmosphere is so laid back as well-like traditional British Pubs you order your drinks and food at the bar and they deliver your food to your table with a number. You are able to sit wherever you would like and I hear it gets very packed for European football games. I can't wait until I get a chance to go again-there aren't a ton of food options being that I don't eat red meat-but I was able to find the curry and could also try the Fish and Chips which looked amazing and I have heard it is great. If you are in the area-stop by for a drink or two and you will not be disappointed-you feel like you are transported to England with these type of pub. read more

Came to Ambleside on a weekday as I had to go to a dealership nearby. I love British pubs from similar places in the city, and they have chips (french fries) so my son would be happy. It was bright and sunny outside, but traditionally dark and well worn inside. You order at the bar and they bring everything to your table. Owners were very nice as you'd expect. I got their house bitter cask ale. Very good however please note this is close to room temperature than a typical cold beer; I personally love the style and this was a good example. My son doesn't understand that British people call fries chips, so we ended up having to get him French fries and potato chips. They luckily had the latter, even if they didn't have plain ones, so we got him ketchup-flavored chips that of course he proceeded to barely eat (they were actually good). He did like the French fries/British chips, and my wife liked her breakfast sandwich even if it was a bit heavy for her. My fish and chips were really freaking good. Sizable piece of fish (haddock), nice and crisp, with a ton of chips and lots of sauces (spicy mustard, vinegar, etc). Maybe not my favorite fish and chips ever, but it hit the spot. Would come back here in a heartbeat, especially where I could relax and drink a bit more. Completely understand why they are recognized as a top bar in the US. read more

I had an amazing lunch here! First of all it's adorable. It's a cute British pub atmosphere with different sections and cozy seating. Everyone is really nice and friendly. We started off with a scone with clotted cream and jam. It was excellent! Then we moved onto the burger, Wellington and the pie of the day.omg!! the pie of the day was a vegetable curry, which was really tasty. I loved the burger in the puff pastry! Fries were really crispy on point. But the most memorable thing was the sticky toffee pudding! I'm still dreaming about it! Great British Pub in Mt. Kisco. We went here twice when visit g my sister for Thanksgiving to watch Premier League. The staff is very friendly and it is a great vibe. I highly recommend if you want to watch soccer, sports, or want a legit pub. They also have some British ales on tap, but the tap is an interesting pump type thing. It was cool and I recommend the Cornish ale. Obviously Guinness on tap. Try this spot. It rocks. read more

Can't rave enough about this place! Went for the Wednesday night trivia (first and third Weds of every month) and it was a blast! Sooo lively and charming. Felt like I was back in London where I studied abroad. A mix of US and British trivia. Packed with people of all ages, dogs, kids. And the food is five stars! Loved the cheese-and-onion hand pasty so much. Buttery, flaky crust, flavorful caramelized onion, gooey and so fresh. Trying the vegetable curry bake next and their toffee sticky pudding. I am overall very impressed with how this place has turned out. I've been wanting to try this place since I first came here to try their food. My fiancée and I finally had the chance and we are incredibly happy with. The place inside is beautiful. I love how they have TVs everywhere that look like picture frames. Gives it a unique touch. The chairs are very comfortable and some don't have backs making easier to get up and down. The bartenders were so nice and helpful. They brought everything to our table when it was ready. The bathrooms were very clean and have a slide door to get into. Never really seen that before so I thought it was cool. The food tasted amazing. I had the shepherds pie and it was very flavorful. I have followed this place online for ages and finally popped in as an expat, finding proper fish and chips in NY is usually like spotting the Loch Ness Monster. But The Ambleside Pub absolutely nails it. The bar's a beauty clearly crafted by someone who's spent a few evenings "researching" in British pubs and the whole place has that cozy-meets-classy feel that makes you want to settle in for a long session. Jimmy behind the bar is an absolute legend, friendly, fast, and full of the kind of banter you'd expect from a bloke who's poured more pints than he's had hot dinners. This place is a legit British pub with legit Fish and Chips and legit hand-pumped beer. If you are from the UK and miss home, this is as close as you will get. I had, of course, the Fish and chips and a local stout served with a pump. Both were outstanding and reminded me of my days in the UK. I understand they also serve a legit British breakfast. The cod is a generous hunk of fried goodness (think light and airy) and the fries are thick like steak fries. The bar staff and wait staff are all so kind and congenial here. And the atmosphere is what you expect from a traditional British pub. The owners were super friendly and welcoming. Our food was reallllly good. My parents usually say at restaurants "it was fine", but this time they ate the whole meal and said "that was really good, we will definitely come back here". Was told that The Ambleside Pub has the best Fish and Chips in the area and the review was spot on. Went with my wife for lunch this past Saturday as she's been dying for a burger. Small British pub on E. Main St. in Mt. Kisco which offers authentic British fare. Numerous TVs hung in picture frames adorned the walls and were playing a soccer match. Locals I'm sure go there for a pint or half to enjoy. Sat at our table for a while before our server came over to ask if we'd ever been there before. Told us that in a traditional British pub, orders are made at the bar and then brought table side. I felt like having a traditional British beer and got a half of a summer ale served cool. This place styles itself a traditional British pub, where you order food and drinks from the bar. While it's a nice idea, in practicality it wasn't working well when I had a late lunch there this weekend. Even when we arrived and it wasn't super busy yet, it was hectic in the bar area. You have to go up to the bar for everything, to get menus, order food and drinks, even to get a glass of water or a to go container. That's way too much traffic and the whole point of having wait staff, which is to help manage the needs of your patrons while the kitchen and the bar staff do what they need to do. This no doubt was related to our very long wait for our food. Bangers and mash were good, the gravy was a little cold. Chips were overcooked and the scotch eggs were ok, not great. Staff were friendly but disorganized. I think what really bothered me though was being largely self service yet still having the tip section on the receipt. Blech! The Ambleside Pub was a completely overpriced and underwhelming experience. This may be a great place to go have a pint but definitely skip the food! All of the food was frozen and nothing tasted fresh. The kids fish and chips was frozen fish sticks and the fries were served cold. The pasty, which was probably the best food item, was made from puff pastry instead of short crust, and had some artificial cheese goop resembling squeeze cheese. The mushy peas were from a can. It's almost like they take all of the pre-prepared foods from their shop The Hamlet down the street, and serve it to guests. I felt like I was eating a frozen Trader Joe's dinner. The wine list was also a disappointment--random cheapo wines to check off the red/white/rosé boxes. Spend your money elsewhere. read more
