A Honeyspot IPA and the Bangkok Basil Beef Rice Bowl. The Bowl was served piping hot. It was delicious and totally hit the spot . Service was very good. We were seated immediately. The restaurant was crowded but there were a few empty tables. I suppose we could have sat at the bar as it wasn't crowded there at all. The bowl was served quickly. We noticed a bunch of other tables had bread so I asked for some. I regret that because the bread they brought out to us was stale and cold as if they just took it out of the fridge. The olive oil it came with wasn't even flavorful so that took away from the perceived quality of the restaurant. I have loved every single visit to the Village Social and I always get the same thing because my usual is just too good to stray from. I always get the shishito peppers and split the Margarita Pizza and Fish Tacos with my dad. The restaurant seating is great no matter where they place you in the restaurant and no matter how many people you have in your party. The food is delicious and it always comes out in a timely manner. Our servers are always really kind too. I'm also OBSESSED with the GOAT goat wallpaper in the bathroom. Hah! See what I did there? Loving this place when traveling for work. Very accommodating for drop ins or large groups. Elevated menu with a casual setting. All food we've had has been great with a few exceptions. Burrata was very disappointing. Not only by picture but also by taste, maybe end of season? Pretzel crusted tuna also was more like poke with wontons. Still fine but piece of fish instead of a chunk. Came in at 330 on a Monday. The place was empty. He tried to seat us at the worst table hidden behind wood instead of glass, then he offered me a seat on a ripped banquette. The menu was on paper. It was crinkled and dirty. That seems unsanitary to me. We ordered the Polynesian peanut wings, Polenta bites and chicken dumplings. The waiter forgot about us and never brought us our second drinks. Always driving by but never tried village social until today, and I must say, I was impressed! Came for an early Mother's Day lunch with my mom and 2 sisters and had a great time. There was a baby shower, but we were able to get a high top in the bar area with no wait. Hostess was very friendly, as was our server. Amazing drinks, best espresso martini I think we ever had, and great food options. I got the Bangkok basil beef bowl which is not usually something I would get (I'm more of a pizza or sandwich fan), but it was AMAZING! I need to go back and try the other rice bowls they offer. In a world where other places in the area have gotten absolutely out of hand in regards to the price-versus-quality ratio, Village Social remains reliable and rarely disappoints. Standouts are the pretzel tuna, pizzas, and rice bowls. Their bar is always busy, has consistently good bartenders, and earns zero complaints from me. Not a bad place to park it on a stool for the afternoon/evening and have a few drinks with friends. Right before Covid hit, I would have given them five stars. Maybe they still deserve it and I'm being stingy - however shrinkflation has unfortunately cut into some of the portions and some dishes are lacking more sides, more garnishes, and stuff that would bring it back over the top. Wednesday night dinner with a friend. This was my first visit to Village Social and I thought the place was really cute. I was seated in the bar before she arrived. Host and service wasn't super friendly, very subdued. I think a new server was being trained but I don't know which one was new - her, who didn't say anything, or him, who was super soft spoken. They came by the table about 20 times, if you like that kind of service. I am not a huge fan. I had a salmon bowl. I didn't think it was very good. I have to take back whatever past grievances I've had with them. Their food is always solid and the outdoor seating is perfect for my toddler who is interested in every truck and car that comes along this busy street. The service is always prompt. I never need to wait for water or a menu like I used to. The waiters aren't overly friendly but they take care of you just fine. They refill your water, ask if you'd like another drink, bring some mayo for your fries when asked, helps you put in an order of sweet potato fries for your ravenous tot as soon as you sit down, etc. I would recommend they throw out a few of their high chairs that have broken buckles (unless I am just lucky to keep getting the one and only high chair that doesn't have working straps). We ordered the Pastrami eggrolls for an appetizer, They were good but for the most part average. I had the Spicy Chicken sandwich, as always I had bacon added. The buttermilk chicken patty was fried and had good crunch with a decent amount of heat. The fries were very hot and flavorful, just the way we like them. My wife likes fish taco's and that was her call here. They were cooked well and everything was fresh, presentation was visually appealing. She felt that nothing stood out that would make her order them again. Our guest had the pizza and she said it was amazing. They had an interesting beer and ale list. About the food, sunny side up pizza with Black truffle and prosciutto is a must try. Excellent and you can taste the truffle when you bite on the pizza. Thin chewy pizza crust, 5 stars for that. Mussels was fresh and the bread is fresh, soft perfect to soak up all the mussel juice, definitely don't share with anyone, i ordered all by myself as entree. Slow cooked skirt steak ends up tasting like cha-siu with white rice bbq sauce. Because the skirt steak is slow cooked and cut into pieces, there's sprinkles of fried onions goes with the dish, it turns out great and filling. Just don't expect the skirt steak like you always had. Salmon on squash purée I had was incredible and the perfectly crisp polenta +honey bites appetizer was actually the highlight for me. Surprisingly, hubs' carnivore ways took a turn and throughly enjoyed his rare tuna dish. Almond meal cake was moist and good too. Stopped in for lunch and sat in the bar area for the first time. I started off with a winter sangria which was spicy and fabulous. For appetizers, we ordered the Thai peanut wings and the mussels in white wine sauce. The wings were extra crispy and just phenomenal! The limey,cilantro peanut sauce was fantastic. Now, for the mussels... They were plump and fresh with the most delicious garlic wine broth. The crusty bread dipped in olive oil that accompanied it made it perfect . We moved on to Entrees. The pizza was perfect as usual, with a nice, runny sunny side up egg in the middle and truffles scattered throughout.. Yum!
