Stopped by The Apothecarium and overall the store was clean with a solid selection, but the pricing was much higher than expected compared to other dispensaries nearby. After taxes, a lot of products just didn't feel worth the cost. The experience also felt a little less welcoming than I expected for a premium dispensary. Some interactions came across a bit rushed, especially when asking about pricing or deals. Not a terrible experience, but between the prices and overall atmosphere, I'd probably explore other options before coming back regularly. read more

The indie of this place is super big and surprisingly very Celeste and spells good. It's very spacious and the people who work there are nice. We had a very good experience with the man who worked in the back who was helping us choose what joints we wanted and things like that. They have all sorts of things for any cannabis lover. Nice employees, huge space, but I just want my weed, and leave, I don't care about a couch or an upscale dispensary that is so sterile and filled with so many products it takes a while to make choices. Parking is extremely difficult on Telegraph, all day long. Perhaps all those rich kids attending CAL Berkeley can afford this place, but I can't. Been smoking weed over 50 years and must shop around for better prices, prices where dispensaries don't have to pay that much for their brick and mortar, then they gouge us poor potheads. Not a fan. Too many other alternatives, with same products that charge a lot less. read more

I will never go back to this store again. I did an online order and went in to pick it up. The guy at the front desk told me that my family could not be in front of the store. My wife has holding our 3 month old child and my 18 month old was in a stroller. It was a typical day on Telegraph with multiple mentally ill people walking up and down the street yelling and acting violent. This store is so ridiculous that they wanted me to go tell my wife and kids to get off their property and for them to stand in the middle is the sidewalk blocking people and being subjected to the unpredictable people of Telegraph Ave. I hope this place gets closed down read more

Least favorite weed dispensary on Telegraph. I only go here when I dont have any other choice. The place is big but it's never full and I don't see that many people in there but it's hard and difficult to check out. I was waiting in line and was called up to the front where they check customers in to check out. The person working at the front check in kept checking people in rather than checking me out. I didn't see the point in calling me to the front and then have me wait to be helped seemed kind of silly. I usually won't go here unless I have no other choice it's just not worth it. read more

Update and correction: I went back and the person who helped me, I think the manager, let me know that there actually is no delivery fee, I was mistaken, I just didn't realize they would be so many taxes. The other thing she let me know is that curbside pick up is an option. When I was in the first time with the baby, I asked the person who had denied me if they had any suggestions for how we could make it work, since I had walked all the way there, including if I ordered it online on my phone right then and if they could bring it out to me. The person said that wasn't possible because I needed to be in the store physically, and babies are not allowed in the store, period. I think the person may have been either overwhelmed because she felt she had to toe the line in a difficult situation, or perhaps she just didn't know about that option. Either way, it was a terrible first experience, especially because the person had walked away from me when I kept trying to explore other options, ending the conversation prematurely. But, I do appreciate them trying to nicely explain the 2nd time, and no delivery fee on orders over 50 bucks or so is good to know. Reading other reviews with parallel experiences, it seems like the store has a difficult time in forcing their policies in line with the regulations they're trying to follow while still being nice and understanding. I purchased two items last Saturday, and was having side effects. I wanted to inquire but he refused to speak with me either in person or on the phone. I went in tonight with my GF and really didn't appreciate the rudeness of the man at the front desk. We were stopping in so I could purchase something, and, when my GF realized she didn't have her ID, she hung back on the couch at the front. I went up with my ID and this was the convo: "Does she think she doesn't need to show ID or something?" "Oh, she didn't bring it so she was just going to wait for me." "Does she think she can just sit there or something?" "Um, should she be outside or--?" "She needs to be outside if she doesn't have her ID." I asked for my ID back and we left. I don't have an issue with my GF needing to stay outside without an ID. The cashier, however, was unnecessarily condescending and rude. I would've rather he simply explained that she needed to be outside if she didn't have an ID instead of posing such asinine questions. This place was so nice. It felt so refined. I thought I was shopping for high end jewelry/ clothing. Their presentation skills here are sooo great. It also looks like a hotel lobby. I saw one woman look in thinking it was something refined but walked away once she realized it was a weed dispensary. Boujee and fancy. The Apothecarium, when looking at it from the outside and its interior, just feels luxurious. This makes it seem very out of place compared the homeless individuals begging for change and the other shops surrounding it. It's literally right next to Walgreens, Subway, and a Japanese snack shop. Truly an interesting paradox and a bit pretentious in my opinion. For their offerings, prices are average but product selection is very limited compared to other dispensaries nearby. However, the workers do try their best to make you feel welcomed. When you check in, you're sent to a register. The clerks at the registers are friendly and are very knowledgeable. They present a digital screen that shows off the products on their website and ask you what you're looking for specifically. This makes the process straightforward and quick. Great for those who know what they want. But for those that prefer browsing and being able to shop by themselves, this experience may feel awkward and uncomfortable. In that case, I would recommend Hi-Fidelity or Berkeley Patients Care Collective instead. Note: They offer a student discount and $5 off your first visit. They also charge a $3 transaction fee for debit cards. read more

We were helped by Mario and since it was our first time going there, he walked us through the different products and explained what each one does. Hello management: all employees need to be able to know what you have & where it is (& not incorrectly tell a Customer who drove in that you don't have what you said you had an hour ago on the phone!). Price-wise I got a good deal, but overall the Menu lacks many products I buy, & lacks competitive pricing on others, My overall favorites remain MEDITHRIVE (SF with East Bay Delivery): great prices & Menu, & AIRFIELD (San Jose) also with East Bay Delivery (but a 'nickel & diming' $5 Delivery Fee EVEN on very large orders). I was laughing to my friend and my husband today that I went into THE most classy pot store ever in our fair town of Berkeley! And I've been to quite a few in Boulder/Denver. Then I read other reviews before I started mine here- yes! Agree. In fact, my description was that I thought I had stepped into the front of a Vegas Lounge- no kidding. This is the most beautiful dispensary I've walked into. I absolutely love the aesthetics and vibe. This was my first time and I came around 8:30 PM. I was checked in and recommended to use the Bank of America ATM to save $3 as their machine charges a fee. I thought that was so nice. This location has a large variety of products and the staff is very knowledgeable. I enjoyed the service I received overall, but I was disappointed about the student discount. I was motivated to come here due to the student discount as not many dispensaries offer this. When I placed my online order there was no indication that the discount was specific to only UC Berkeley students, but when I was in the store I was told this. As mentioned everything else was perfect, but I do this they should specifically put on their site that the discount is only for UC Berkeley. I hope their discount can be inclusive to all students in the future as there are several schools in the area and some students are remote living at home. read more

I came in for the first time pretty early a few days ago. I just turned 21 and was alone so I was a bit nervous and didn't really know what to expect. The man up at the front was super nice and helped me get started. We chatted for a bit about my birthday plans and was quick to ask if I was a student to make sure I got my discount. There wasn't anyone else there so after I looked around for a bit the other man at check out pointed out another product I might be interested that was on sale and made sure I got the best discount that could be applied. Everyone was very nice and any anxiety I had walking in was completely gone. They were quick, but not rushing which I really appreciate. Kind of a corporate "big cannabis" vibe that doesn't really fit in on this formerly radical stretch of Telegraph ave in Berkeley. They are owned by a large Canadian investment company, after all. No free-browsing as you must be paired with a consultant at the counter. Be prepared to wait a long time as people stand at the checkout making their decisions. Awful customer service. I came in here a number of times and it used to be my favorite dispensary. Alex was always very helpful and friendly. Today, I purchased what I thought was an eighth of GDP, one of my favorite strains. The sales person and I were talking about how it's a great strain, one of our favorites, and an OG. We had a very clear conversation around GDP as he was checking me out. Once I got home, I checked my bag, and it was a different strain by the same company, in almost exactly the same packaging. I thought it would be no big deal to exchange my unopened, still sealed product. Apparently this was not possible. So I thought for sure they would make it right and either give me a sizeable discount, or just give me the strain I asked for. The manager tried to convince me that the strains were "not even that different" and it was a "perfectly good product" so there was nothing she could do. I do not like the strain they gave me, I told her this clearly. I asked for a specific strain, and they gave me the wrong one. After about 10 minutes of back and forth, she transferred me to the GM. The GM said he reviewed camera footage, and from the footage he says I agreed to the product, (which has identical packaging on both strains), so the only thing he could offer me was a $5 credit on my next purchase for any "perceived misunderstanding". Do not go here. As much as they try to present themselves as an upscale dispensary, their management does not have a single ounce of customer service knowledge. They made a mistake and tried to blame me, and convince me that what they gave me was something I wanted. Shady. read more

I'm a senior who uses edibles for sleep issues and this is by far my favorite dispensary. It's clean, it's classy, I don't feel weird walking in, and I've always found the staff here friendly and helpful. In my initial visit, I found out they don't carry the brand I came in to buy, but the the woman helping me was able to suggest some alternatives. As we walked in, the security guard was professional. The person at the front was the opposite. Overall rude for no reason. I just said "I don't want to create an account because that sounds like a lot of effort." I didn't say it in a rude tone, simply stated my preference. Then I nicely asked why they needed to see my ID again after I said I didn't want to create an account. They said "I still need to verify if you're above 21" even though the security guard ID'ed me. They said it in a very annoyed, condescending tone. I don't have a problem with their protocols, I'll follow whatever stuff they need done. But the customer service just isn't there. I asked questions in a very nice way and was met with rudeness. I don't even expect staff to be nice, just be decent. I won't describe this person's looks to protect their privacy, but we went around 3:20pm today so that should be enough for management to identify. I won't be going back. read more
