Total scam. I paid nearly $20 for a pre-roll that was recommended by the staff, and this is what I got -- see photo. This doesn't even look like weed. No smell, no crystals, no sticky buds -- just dark, crushed-up leaf that looks more like dried oregano than cannabis. I've been smoking for years and I've never seen anything this bad come from a legal dispensary. Either they don't care what they're selling or they're knowingly pushing garbage to customers. She has waited on us 3 different times and is always honest, detailed, and I'm always pleased with her customer service. The rest of the staff has always been kind and very accommodating as well. Let me start by prefacing I'm a seventy one year old black male. Beginning with my first purchase at The Artist Tree in El Sobrante, I'm been treated respectfully and professionally by associates. Until today! The young associate, looked to be a twenty something white male, with long bushy/curly black hair, about 189 pounds or less, 5' 9". He greeted me with " what's up bossman." I let it slip. No problem. As I was checking out, I asked the associate not to refer to me as boss/bossman. For some reason he continued to drop the word boss etc. I informed him I preferred to be addressed as ...! After repeated disagreeable exchanges between us, I was about to cancel my order and bring the matter forward with a formal complaint with management. As I was withdrawing my debit card another young black associate emerged from a side door and immediately the associate assisting passed off the transaction to his colleague hastily insisting 'he was being disrespected' because I asked him not to address me as boss/bossman. He mentioned something about how he was raised as he exited the counter area. I finished my transaction with the young black male, who seemed a bit unnerved over the incident. One thing is certain l now know who I will not do business with at the Artist Tree. And I highly recommend customer service training for all staff members interacting with customers. Update: 05/22 4:18 pm Following the posting of this review, Jen, the site manager at the location reached out to me in an attempt to get more information on the incident as stated above. During our conversation I restated most of what I posted above earlier, with a few other nuanced recall. I did my best to answer her questions to the fullest, as I think it important for management to have access to all stakeholders as regards circumstances impacting an organization in an unfavorable way. As I mentioned during the course of our conversation; my review was in no way negative commentary on the organization, as prior, transactions on site always a pleasant and professional experience. Me and my partner have been here three times now and every time we have gone here the employees give such terrible service, from being rude, not wanting to be there and laughing at the fact they know it's slow to get product and be rung out. Was a bit worried about this location and knowing how not many places survive that specific location. While parking was tight, dark, and already felt like everything leading to me walking into the dispensary was going to be a let down. However I assure you, parking is the worst part about this experience. Staff is super friendly, they have tons of deals for newbies and for every day of the week a specific promotion. I drove from SF to Richmond during rush hour. I get to the store, about to make my purchase, and they notify me that the product I'm about to purchase can't be discounted. I literally called you guys at 2:30pm and you said it was good. Next time, put that on fine print so people won't waste their time.
