Loaded omelette with fried potatoes and sausage gravy.
    Marshall H.

So let me start by saying I am an Apple Dumplin virgin. I have heard many great things about this of the beaten path Restaurant, so being a foodie. I had to check it out. I came I. At 8 o'clock in Saturday was greeted by 3 of the liveliest woman, who were just coffee happy. At a girl, can't function without that good Java. I came for the fried potatoes and ordered a loaded omelet and coffee with an English muffin. The atmosphere is relaxed down home. It's like eating in your own kitchen at home. Side note. When I rate restaurants they start at a Five and I go from there. Service is pretty epic. Restaurant is clean. You can see into the kitchen and it is clean. The omelette came it was huge. The fried potatoes were smothered in sausage gravy. The gravy had a floury taste had sausage in it. It no sausage flavor. The potatoes were disappointing as they were more like a fried mashed potato's. Not impressed with the gravy or the potatoes. It seems a shame to smother fried potatoes in gravy when you could give a small side of sausage gravy on the side. I would probably rework this menu item. The omelette is huge with a lot of portion of meat and veg . They use a liquid egg for the omelette and it is spread thin then filled, again I would. Probably rework this omelette. For presentation and quality. All in all the service outshined the food and that is what is amazing. This little restaurant exudes family and welcome and love. The food however, is probably made for a lighter tastebud (older). I would say , for the next time order fried potatoes on side to see how they really look and taste. My overall review of The Apple Dumplin restaurant is a 4 as I said the service is what I would expect anywhere and hands down The Apple Dumplin service is why I will come back and try something else.

I haven't been to The Apple Dumplin' forever. Had breakfast with my family this morning. I had an egg over-easy, toast, potatoes, bacon, and sausage gravy. Everything was cooked great. I really liked the potatoes. The apple butter is to die for...loved it!

Food was okay, service was good, but the white supremacy was on full display. Skip this place and find a local place with better food and better values.

I'm a picky eater and this place is a good choice for a comfort food fix. On Sundays, they only have their buffet available (nothing a la carte) but as buffets go, it's a solid option. The salad bar is nice and cold with your standard options and mostly creamy salad dressings. (Oil and vinegar are available.) The hot buffet has fried chicken, beef and noodles, several different breads including biscuits, cornbread, and dinner rolls, potatoes, corn, and carrots. Think starch. You have to try the namesake -- the apple dumpling, which is available anytime, and get it with ice cream because obviously. It's big and sized for sharing. You get a large fried piece of dough with baked apple inside, absolutely slathered with butter and cinnamon. It's served hot next to the vanilla ice cream as it should be. This place is very casual with friendly servers and you'll go home with a full belly.

Beef and noodles over mashed potatoes with corn.

The food took over 30 minutes, which wouldn't be a deal breaker, if it was hot. The fries were cold. That's a death sentence in my opinion. The burger was fine, though not hot, at least warm enough. Sorry, maybe impressive for some, but not for this guy. I would have been happier at the BBQ joint across the street.

Though it looks unremarkable from the outside, inside, you'll find a wonderful restaurant where the staff is highly invested in making sure you have a great meal. My companion enjoyed a lovely Old Fashioned to start. I ordered the Turkey stroganoff, while he had the shrimp and grits. When the plates came out, I thought the veil was finally about to slip. They were well-plated, but huge. And yet...the veil didn't slip. It was haute-cuisine comfort food goodness in what looked like a converted warehouse space. Unreal! Though turkey is often too dry, my stroganoff was moist and succulent. The sauce was much more than just cream of mushroom -- lots of flavor and not too much salt. We had a time of it. I'd happily come back here again and again.

The peach cider on tap was excellent and other customers said their cocktails were really good. The service was good. We were a group of 5 and were seated at a 2 person table pushed together with a 4 person table. The 4 person table had regular table legs in the 4 corners. When it was pushed against the bench, this made it impossible to get to our seats on the bench, especially in a dress. Kind of a crazy design. I had the pasta and it was fine. Nothing to rave about and pretty pricy to leave still hungry. I had considered the cod with peanut sauce and cauliflower puree. We were informed they didn't have cod anymore and it was either salmon or tilapia. It seemed crazy to charge $23 for tilapia while salmon & peanut sauce combo did not sound that great. A friend did order it and was unfortunately disappointed. The cauliflower was so puréed it ended up being very thin like a sauce. So, she ended up with 1 piece of fish with different sauces on her plate. No vegetables or carbs to go with the fish.

Fine dining on the farm -- the source for their farm-to-table cuisine…read more Most of the dishes were prepared sensitively, foregrounding the ingredients. We ordered the curried cauliflower, butternut squash soup, roasted mussels, braised short rib, panelle, pumpkin pot de crème, and banana bread. The highlight was certainly the cauliflower, which had been rubbed with spices and served over a green curry. The dish's flavors were the most complex of our order and the cauliflower had just come to a crisp. The baked mussels were also noteworthy for the balanced textures between the flesh and breadcrumbs. Eating it on a saltine felt like I had been invited to snack like the chef does. In a couple of cases, the preparation overpowered the ingredients. The soup was thin but tasted mostly of browned butter. The desserts were very sweet, leaving the pumpkin in the pot de crème as an accent rather than a centerpiece. Insofar as fine dining is about guiding the diner's attention to the food and the experience, there were a couple hiccups during the meal. Our server referred to the crème fraiche on several dishes as aeoli, and they described the short rib -- which was served off the bone and arrayed over spaghetti squash -- "like a smash burger from Culver's." The formulation almost turned me to a different dish: I enjoy a good smash burger but generally pay much less for it than for fine dining. (Ultimately, the description was misleading.) And while I appreciate attention from the server during the meal, my companion and I were interrupted several times, as we ate and spoke. I am fond of farm-to-table dining, and I expect to come back when the seasonal menu changes but perhaps not before then.

So the location was perfect right off I74! We went on a weekday around 10 am. As we pulled in, the parking lot had a lot of cars and it being a weekday and not a holiday, right off this seemed like a great sign! As we exited the car we were already hit with great scents as we approached the front door! The building had been easy to spot and was cute! The interior design was nice and in excellent condition. I really hate seeing places with like water damaged ceilings it's just gross. This place was in tip top shape! We were seated right away in a nice booth but had passed a long seating area which I'm sure gets used a lot during busier times and it's nice to see that they have seating for waiting customers. The booth seating was comfortable. The environment was peaceful enough not too quiet but not too loud. We were attended to perfectly by the server who answered any questions we had and politely took our order. She allowed a substitute for my boyfriend and when I had picked pancakes with two sides she pointed out a breakfast dish to me that was better priced. I really appreciated that as I had not see that combination. My boyfriend ordered biscuit and gravy and a fruit cup with coffee as his beverage. His coffee stayed filled. It seemed a little odd that it was just one biscuit but the dish normally came with hash browns not sure if that drowns in gravy? But his dish had TONS of gravy and he LOVED it! He really wanted to pick up the plate and lick every drop of gravy but he resisted!! The fruit was incredible as my dish came with strawberries so I got to experience it too. No idea where they get it but it was incredibly fresh and so tasty it definitely did not seem like grocery store fruit.he had scrambled eggs too I almost forgot. I opted for two pancakes (you could get 3) and bacon (it came with 3 thick slices perfectly cooked and they also offer turkey bacon but I got real), oh and I had the strawberries as a topping! Fresh creamy butter and a tall, hot maple syrup dispenser was provided. Oh I also had scrambled eggs! Cage free. Everything was delicious! So good! The server checked in with us enough. I shared one piece of bacon and some pancake with my boyfriend which he used to help get that gravy! My boyfriend cleared his plate except for a little fruit but I couldn't finish my 2 eggs and as I mentioned I gave my boyfriend some of my bacon and pancake so it was perfect. We felt the pricing was fair in today's market and for how much we enjoyed it. We definitely will go back!
