I cannot believe we stayed to eat after we walked in. Customer service was ok, our waitress was friendly. The booth seats had holes and didn't look clean. The menus were so old that the corners had been worn completely off so that you couldn't read them very well. Our food was nasty. I got the 'special' steak and eggs because I have to eat gluten free. Steak was gristly and flavorless, eggs were severely undercooked (whites were not set all the way). My son got chicken nuggets, and the nuggets were HOLLOW. Daughter got a patty melt, and I think she was the only one that liked her meal. Hubby got a bacon cheeseburger. Burger was BURNED, cheese was not melted and it was bland and flavorless. I hope to spend many more days and hours in this town, but I will NEVER eat there again. read more

If the meal for 2 only cost $12 instead of $36, I wouldn't bother writing a review because, hey! What do you expect? Well let me tell you, this was THE worst meal my wife and I have ever had. All we could do was laugh at it. The pulled pork sandwich I ordered looked as if it was pre-chewed for me and my wife ordered the beef jerky......I mean French dip sand which. Oh how we wished we had gone to Dairy Queen. We were really reluctant to go here because of the bad reviews but we were staying in Best Western next door and didn't want to drive anywhere. Well, we were pleasantly surprised. We had the fired chicken dinner and some onion rings and wings for a starter. Everything was cooke well and presented well. The service was also very good. We had breakfast here, my wife and I both had a Mushroom Omelette. I had hash browns and toast and she had the pancakes. I must say both servings were more than adequate, and the three pancakes we're huge! Our server did an excellent job, and as a bonus had great tattoos! We had breakfast here several 2 times in a week. Between the three of us, we had omelettes, French toast, waffles, your basic eggs and bacon. All the food was good and filing and the plates were large. The service was very nice and friendly and kept the coffee full. The atmosphere was quiet and the tables were clean and well kept. Not only was it Sunday, but I was tired, so walked a few meters from the motel to Apple Peddler. The senior chicken breast was grilled and okay. The carrots were over cooked and watery. The baked potato was well done, came wrapped in aluminum foil that must be carefully removed so as to insure that none of the highly toxic foil will be ingested. Two scoops of butter were already in the potato so the little container of sour cream was not used. read more

Horrible horrible, I went to an Apple Peddlers a few months ago and was disappointed but I was hungry and it was the last restaurant going out of town. I had the French dip. The roast beef was like shoe leather and the au jus was bland. They barely cooked the French fries. Never again to a Apple Pedlers. I would give it 5 stars, but the host was a butt hole. The food was great and the waitress was awesome. The host used profanity and yelling at the cook. It was NOT a good experience, but the waitress came over and profusely apologized for the host behavior. I wanted to contact the owner but she said he was out of town at the time. Just passing through on our way from Ohio to meet up with my family for a week of camping. Saw this place and thought it might be a good place for breakfast. And it was. The food was delicious and the service was spot on. We've been here for a half hour and we are already finished eating. Not sure why people complained about the service. This is the dirtiest restaurant I have ever had the mis fortune of being in!! The garbage cans were overflowing in the restrooms. The garbage can at the entrance was discussing and had cigarette butts on the floor around it. The dirt on the floor was way beyond health regulation. To top it off I found a paper debris at the bottom of my coffee cup which when I chewed on it about made me puke!! This place needs to be inspected and then either cleaned or closed down. read more

Apple Peddler? I'd say Poison Peddler is more apt! If you are looking for food suitable for human consumption, do not stop here. My boyfriend and I stopped here to get a quick fix on our long road trip. BAD IDEA. We should have turned around and ran when we heard a man saying it was the worst food he'd ever had as he was paying his bill. Stopping here, mistake number one. Staying after hearing the food was terrible, mistake number two. Eating the barely thawed excuse for food: worst mistake ever. The service was terrible and the food was worse. Warning: if you are road tripping and headed west, there is not a rest stop until the outskirts of Bend which is a real problem when your body is frantically trying to expel the poison from either end. The chinese chicken salad was iceburg lettuce with some strips of fried chicken (which in all honesty was the best part of the dinner - not too bad.) and canned chow mein noodles. Dear Lord God, no. I was hoping against hope that bad practices and potential cronyism had done this place in over the last two years since my Family and I experienced them, but alas no. After having some familiarity with the Apple Peddler brand from here in the metro area we were pleasantly surprised to encounter this gem on a triple digit afternoon and so we decided to stop and dine there as it appeared to be OK from a bit of distance and looked likely to have good air conditioning. Upon pulling into the parking lot things began to get bad in a hurry. As I and my Wife and Son were walking from the back parking lot behind the Restaurant we were startled by the sound of two obviously distressed dogs which were locked inside a car which was pulled up very close to the rear entrance to the kitchen. A scruffy looking fellow in greasy apron was smoking with someone who appeared to be wait staff and we decided we had seen enough for our comfort and left to notify Law enforcement about the dogs. Unfortunately this action had unintended consequences and although it took us another 45 minutes to finish up our business and finally leave town the dogs were still locked in the car when we left and the only LE that I saw appeared far more interested in us than in any potential animal cruelty at the Apple Peddler. I still avoid this place at all costs as I'm pretty sure I'd rather starve than be served by dog torturers and it seems recent reviews share my opinions. read more

Subpar service and bad food. We arrived to find a line of people waiting to pay or be seated while the wait staff was busy talking. Once we were seated, we ordered from the dinner menu. I ordered a turkey and bacon melt, my fiancee a turkey melt. The menu promised whole roasted turkey breast with swiss and cheddar cheese. What was received was cheap turkey lunch meat, american cheese, and imitation swiss cheese. The bacon was chewy and literally tasteless. My fiancee's sandwich was about the same: cheap lunch meat, knockoff cheese, and little flavor. Our check was dropped off when the food arrived and the wait staff didn't bother to check on us for the rest of our meal, despite a promise to refill my long empty water glass. We were about 8 hours in on a 10 hour drive. Thought we would get out of the car, stretch our legs and get something to eat and didn't want fast food. The only nice thing was the service. Can't remeber one of the gal's names, but the other was "Harley", I believe. I wasn't sure what we were going to get so I ordered a pretty safe item (nachos) one that can't be screwed up. It was pretty bland. My wife ordered chicken Ceasar Salad and it was more like mayo, dried chicken with a few day old lettuce. My son ordered a "pizza". I think this place is only in business because of traveling families like us who are just trying to get a bite to eat and get put of the car. The food was mostly heated up out of the can kind of food. I guess the only saving grace for me was I wasn't expecting much and therefore wasn't too upset or full for thst matter when we left. The average is right on par for this restaurant. An aging, poorly maintained, Denny's style restaurant. One of the only establishments open late in Burns. I walked over from the Best Western early in the morning. I was the only customer in the restaurant. It still took nearly 5 minutes to be seated in a booth in disrepair with many cracks in the vinyl. I ordered sausage and eggs. Another customer? arrived and proceeded to chat with the waitress for the rest of the time I was in the restaurant. My sausage and eggs arrived generally greasy and a little unappealing. I have been to Burns since and have yet to visit the Apple Peddler again. There are much better choices in Burns. read more

My husband and i had dinner here last week. I watched Steve set tables touching the tines of a fork, the bowl of the spoon, and the blade of the knife each time he set a table. I don't want someone elses hands on utensils I'm going to place in my mouth. Service was slow. No refills on drinks offered. 20 minutes for a thin tasteless porkchop dinner. Mushy green beans that had bern kept heated for hours. A tablespoon of applesauce. The dinner salad was good, as was the baked potatoe. People arrived 5 minutes after us, ate and left before we got our dinner. Locals arrived after us, and got their steak dinner before us. Not impressed and not stopping again.
