Paid for an evaluation to determine if my dryer can be fixed. Unfortunately, it could not be fixed. No big deal here, didn't have any initial problem. I end up buying a new dryer and having it delivered. Now, I just need someone to disassemble the gas lines on the old dryer so that it can be hauled away. He gave me a price for the job, which was reasonable based upon my benchmarking, but I wanted him to bill me separately for any materials since the price would only be known once purchases are made. He declined the job, which every contractor has the right to but somethings weird here. I just paid him for a job, which he completed and offered him simpler job that one does not need to be a licensed plumber in order to accomplish. This guy has issues. There was no hiccups on the previous job or anything unreasonable that was requested for the new job that would lead one down the path not to accept this job. Bottom line is, these other one star reviews are believable based upon what I've seen and those great reviews that you see on Google or elsewhere are fake or just instances where whatever issues that exist with this guy did not surface. Unable to determine or "guess" the refrigerator problem, unbelievably rude and abruptly left the job leaving broken bulbs, disassembled parts and the power turned off. I am much worse off now than before these "wrecking crew" service folks darkened my kitchen. Y'all beware of these guys-- they're definitely NOT appliance guys. I would give 0 starts if I could. Mr. Will was very unprofessional while "trying" to fix our washer and the whole time he was at our house he was yelling and cussing at his partner. Apparently, due to a heart condition he sat down the whole time and instructed his partner and my boyfriend on what to do. I feel we were overcharged, especially because my boyfriend was right there doing half the work his partner was doing. Then, not even a week later we are still having problems with our washer, so we gave Mr. Will another call back and he told us " I did my job, nothing else I can do." Who does that? read more

UPDATE: After reading my negative Yelp review, Will from The Appliance Guys (the owner) thought it was appropriate to call me 6 times from 11.18pm on Friday 12/4/15 to 12.33am on Saturday 12/5/15. I've uploaded pictures in the comments as evidence. He also sent me several threatening/harassing text messages where he called me a "stupid bitch" and spelled out 'FUCK YOU' in individual text messages, one letter at a time. This is after I'd paid him in full and (finally) received the service I asked for from Sidney, a very pleasant guy who contracts for/with Will. I reiterate: this unbalanced, unstable BUSINESS OWNER called me in the middle of the night to harass and threaten me 15 days after service had been rendered and paid for. Do not be fooled by that one star. They deserve none. In fact they deserve to be charged with harassment. I called a repair man in to look at my fridge. I called him because he was late for an appointment, and he said he was running behind but would call me 30 minutes in advance to heading over. He called me at 4:30pm without any advance saying he was at my house then got mad because I wasn't there. I arrived home 20 minutes later and he said he finishes work at 5 so wanted to get it done quickly. As a house rule, everyone who enters the house must take their shoes off. When I asked him nicely to take shoes off or put booties on, he complained the entire time that he has a bad back and it's hard for him to bend over. Sorry, but not my problem. Also, being an appliance repair guy requires you to bend, kneel, squat, crawl etc, does it not? After he tried to charge me double the amount I was proposed over the phone, I refused to pay it and paid the original amount quoted. He was supposed to order parts needed for my fridge. After 5 days and not hearing back I called and spoke to William, who I guess is the owner. He was rude, racist and inappropriate asking me if I was Muslim, or from the Middle East. He then started cursing me out and telling me to "go back to Syria". I am beyond offended at this ignorant display of racism and bigotry. He then had the audacity to text my personal phone from his business phone. I don't even want to repeat what he said to me. If he contacts me again I will call the police. Obviously they got so many negative reviews that they thought they'd start over with a different account. Regardless, my first and only interaction was on the phone. Needing to fix my window AC unit, I asked whether they could provide that service. After three rounds of Appliance Guys: [unintelligible mumbling] Me: What? I finally figured out what the guy was trying to ask. He wanted to know how big the unit was in BTUs. It didn't matter, though, because as I was trying to find that information he became frustrated and hung up on me. I sent some feedback expressing my displeasure and received the following reply via e-mail from one William Meyer: "Why don't you educate yourself more about thing things [sic] a guy should know not like a woman." That e-mail says more than I could ever say in a review, so I'll leave it at that. The worst company and even worse employees!! Will is the employee is spoke with. Entirely unprofessional. Hired them to fix a stove range and knob. Lied to me about replacing a piece and just used a wrench to put the old one back on. He told my tenant to lie to me about the oven being fixed, so he could get paid. I refused to pay him until the job he was hired for was completed. He went back to the property two more times and while there, he glued the old knob back onto the stove. He then realizes the NEW thermostat HE installed was defective and causing the oven not to work. He told me "oh well. There is nothing I can do now that the knob is glued on." He was unable to replace the defective part he put on. He refused to fix the stove and said it was my problem now. He then yelled at me and continuously texted me about how it's my problem. I called to make an appointment and was told no need they could come right then. After waiting half an hour I get a call from the main guy saying he can't make it out. First due to his time, so I offered to schedule for Monday , then his health and would send someone else. I said "okay when would that be? He said it would be another hour. I replied "no problem but it would have been nice to have been told it wild be an hour and a half instead of we are on our way so I could have ran errands instead of waiting." I guess I got lucky...? I had a perfect experience. I called for my Whirlpool dryer, Will and his partner showed up an hour later and fixed the dryer. Quick and easy. I mentioned I could find a dryer on craigslist for $100 and did not want to spend over that. Will mentioned typically it would be $120 for parts and labor but he would do it for $90. After arriving, in 5-10 minutes they found the problem (a blown fuse), got the part out of the truck and fixed it. Maybe it was an easy job...maybe I caught them on a good day. Quite possibly the worst company I've ever worked with. They overcharged us for a simple oven repair. Actually broke my oven to the point where it didn't heat up anymore. Which I didn't realize until they were gone. Then wanted to charge us more to fix it. When I refused to pay them any additional money, because they caused the damage, the owner of the company screamed at me over the phone and told me he will "never fix my fucking oven" because I was "being a bitch." He drove straight to the bank and cashed the check we wrote, knowing that my oven didn't work! I couldn't cancel it fast enough. I cannot stress enough, this is not a company you want to deal with. Just because I wasn't able to answer a text immediately or answer the phone immediately because I was at work he Said for me to find somebody else and accused me of playing games with him. I made the mistake of calling these guys based on high Google reviews, which I now believe MUST be fake! Charged me $100 to do basically nothing to fix my stovetop igniter issue. Said they'd give me a quote to remove the stovetop and diagnose further. I called twice when I didn't hear from them and they never followed up. By that point I had read all the negative reviews on Yelp and decided to cut my losses! Will be taking my business elsewhere! read more

I hired Will with The Appliance Guys to diagnose my frigidaire range as the oven was not heating. He was able to arrive the next day and gave me notice when he was on his way. The issue was diagnosed accurately, but unfortunately the control board needed was discontinued everywhere. I asked Will to put everything back together as it could be a while until I could find a fix for this piece, but he said it would be too much work. I paid him $60 for the diagnosis and was shocked that I was left with my oven in disarray. I was unable to find the proper control board I needed anywhere so I mailed the piece to be repaired. I was able to install the repaired control board easily; however, I noticed that Will had left my oven sensor hanging loose and multiple screws under the stoves. It took me a long time to figure out 1) what the wire was; and 2) where it needed to go as I was not the one who disassembled the back of my stove. If Will had put everything back the way he found it, I would not have encountered these issues. I appreciate the accurate diagnosis, but I was shocked by the work ethic. read more

I had called William with The Appliance Guys out to repair my washing machine. His helper and he arrived and looked at my unit and gave me a price estimate. They said they needed to move my washer out from its current location so they could access the back side of the machine. No problem with me. They moved the unit which had about 1/4 of the tub full of water down the hallway, which is tiled, into the foyer which is also tiled. The washer was leaking water (water, soap, dirt from the clothing and dyes from the clothing which was in the water) onto the floor. Then for some inexplicable reason they decided to move it onto the carpet to work on the washer. William made the comment that the washer is leaking water. I replied, Wouldn't it make more sense to do that on the tile so it doesn't cause any damage to the carpet.? He then moved it back onto the tile. I went to gt some towels to soak up the water that had drained onto the carpet. While they were working on the unit, William and his assistant were arguing about what needed to be done to the machine the entire time. They were cursing at each other and just in general in their conversation which is highly unprofessional, no matter what your profession may be. They got the unit repaired, said they needed to order a part and would be back the next day. The machine was sitting in the middle of my entryway, disassembled. They called back about an hour later and said it would be the next Monday before the part would be available. That would mean one week. Alright. Inconvenient but not in their control. Today at about one pm there was a knock on my door. The assistant is at the door. I was in the middle of a phone call. I asked him to hold on for a moment while I finished my call. I closed the door so my dog wouldn't attempt to go outside. I told the associate I was speaking to that I would call him back in a few minutes and then hung up the call which took about twenty seconds. When I opened the door he said they left a set of pliers here with a red handle. I invited him in to look. He looked inside the frame of the machine and right around the machine and didn't see them. he then left. I called my associate back and was on the phone again and another knock on the door. The assistant remembered where he put them. I invite him to come in and get them. They aren't there. During this time I'm still on the phone and the assistant is continuing to try and talk o me which is.... Rude. They didn't have an appointment and I didn't ask for them to come so wait your turn. Next, The assistant has left, and the phone rings about five minutes later. I pick it up and it is William. He said that my washer was the last job they worked on the day prior and where were the pliers? Did I look good for them? I told him I looked and the assistant had come in and looked. Question I'd ask myself before asking a customer that is why are you telling me to look good for your tools? Its not my job to keep track of your stuff. I then told him that the water, soap, dye had stained the carpet. He said what do you want me to do about it? I said the correct thing to do would be deduct the cost of the steam cleaning out of your bill. He then said he wasn't going to complete the job. Reasons.... I have a gun in the house. I have a German Shepherd in the house. He doesn't know but I may be ex-military and people are are ex-military get brainwashed and are crazy. He said he'd take his $100 up front check (total bill was going to be 300-350 he wasn't sure) and walk away. Seems to me like he didn't want to be responsible for damages to the property that he caused through his negligence. It's alright. I put a stop payment on the check and will know not to call this company in the future for two reasons, lack of ethics and poor regard for the military and law-enforcement. The stop payment is completely warranted as the washing machine is not repaired. It is sitting in the entryway disassembled and they caused physical damage to my property. read more

I have had such a horrible week with this company that I felt it was necessary to post a 1 star review. I found the appliance guys online and noticed that they had 4 1/2 out of five stars acc to google. Had I scrolled further down, I would've seen all of the negative reviews on yelp.com... Will at the appliance guys was polite enough over the phone. He said he was going to be at my house by three or 4 o'clock on a Friday afternoon, and called around 6 PM to say that he wouldn't be able to make it. He was supposed to arrive the next morning. He actually called me at 9:30 AM saying that he was getting moving, and planned on being at my house at noon. He arrived finally around 130 and dealt with my husband, because I was lying down with the baby. When I got up and asked my husband how it went, he said that Will was extremely rude to his helper and "berated him." Even though he got his diagnosis of the problem with my washing machine wrong, that didn't upset me. What upset me was his utter lack of respect for my time and any sense of urgency whatsoever to fix my washing machine. Twice, he promised me he would have the new part the next day and simply didn't show! The closest he came to showing up on time was 2 1/2 hours late, and the latest he ever was was a day and a half late. He was not communicative with me at all when he was late unless I contacted him to see when he was coming, and he never contacted me or called when he said he would. I Wonder if I would've ever heard back from him after the first day had I not followed up with him over and over again. He was supposed to call me this morning and have me call the parts company and pay for the part over the phone because he said he couldn't pay for it upfront. I found that odd, but just wanted the machine fixed so I was happy to do it. I didn't hear from him at all until I called him this evening. When I called him and asked him if I was supposed to call the company or not, he said, "I'm going to have to deal with that tomorrow." After a week, literally seven days, of going back-and-forth with him and still having a broken washing machine, and being strung along day after day, I told him I had had enough and was going to use another company. Y'all, I am reasonable and I am patient but I am beyond frustrated with Will at the appliance guys. I don't know if he had the best of intentions or is just struggling with his health or something else, but I want to do you a favor and spare you your time and your sanity. Will, I have read your responses to some of the other commenters, and think you will agree that I have been very reasonable and very patient. Overall generally unpleasant to deal with, but also they tried to rip me off on a part I knew for sure worked because I tested it prior to them showing up with my own multi-meter. Darryl screamed at Will saying, "Man you talk too fucking much!" after Will tested the part himself in front of me. Then Darryl tried to convince me that the fuse I installed was "going bad" despite the my own meter reading it was good. That's not how fuses work, they either work or they don't, and in this case it was a fail-safe to prevent fires. They told me they could wire around the fuse, Hell NO! that would cause a fire. Anyway these guys show up to peoples houses and replace thermal fuses (a $6 part you can buy from Home Depot) and charge exuberant amounts. I paid them the $65 "consultation fee" just so they would leave. read more

Next time I need a repair I most definitely will search business reviews first. If I had saw all of these reviews first I would have went elsewhere. If this was based solely on Will the owner, maybe 3 stars, but on the over all experience. 1 star. The first guy who's name I do not recall (I think it was GORDAN), was horrible. He should be fired, but since he's an independent contractor I suppose it doesn't matter. He complained about everything from the moment we first spoke on the phone until after he left the house. There was supposed to be a service charge of $55 dollars for him coming out to look at our fridge. He found the computer board was not working and agreed to fix it. He went outside to talk to the parts guy and came back in with a quote. $386. The part cost around $100, I know this because we looked it up, so we asked him to justify where the other $286 was coming from since he "was waiving the $55 fee". He couldn't explain, but asked if we could give him money before he goes to get the part. I'm like, "How do I know if you will come back, if I give you my credit card info?" He's like "How do I know if I go get the part you will pay me when I fix it?" He goes on to speak some gibberish about how he's an independent contractor and a bunch of other stuff and says he needs upfront money to be able to buy the part from a parts guy before he will do anything. I ask can I pay the parts guy myself. I tells me it doesn't work like that. I say can I pay the company instead, because I don't want to give out my CC info and I don't have cash on me. He says I can call his boss and pay online and they can explain the quoted rate better than he could. So my fiancé was not home but he was on the phone with me during the entire process and we both agreed that the it all didn't quite add up and he 3-ways Will, the owner, asking about payment methods and the quote. The OTHER guy says he was going to put something in his car and would be back, and goes out to his car and left. I think he was trying to get over on us and he knew it. So he left because we called his boss. Who knows either way it was rude. Will then was nice enough to offer to come out and do it himself for less money $300, but we had to pay in advance online, and he was supposed to come out at 3pm the same day 3/3/16. Some how he got tied up and wasn't able to come out until 1pm the following day 3/4/16. Will brought Calvin along with him. They did the job quickly and I'm happy the fridge is working again. YAY! The original guy gave us a 1 yr part guarantee which is why we opted to get the service. Will said they only could offer a 90-day warranty. They really need to get on the same page. I understand that different people have different methods, but if you are working under 1 company (independent contractor or not) there should be some unison about the cost of labor rates, parts, and clarity of the warranty written and signed up front or something. To the first worker whose name I don't recall (GORDON maybe): Employees should act like they like their job OR get a non service related position where you don't deal with people directly. No one wants to hear griping and moaning for a service they are paying you to do. If I'm paying you to do work you should have a good attitude when you come into my house and not one like you hate the world and your life. read more

I had a roto rooter appointment and they cancelled on me. Within 45 minutes they came to turn off my water and leant me their water key to use until a plumber will come fix my pipes. Just had the worst experience with this company and the owner Will. Firstly he forgot about the appointment at 1pm, so i called and he eventually came at 4pm to fix my dryer. He came and looked at the dryer and told me it would cost $170 to repair, he asked for a check and I told him i would prefer to pay with a credit card, he then said it would be $190 because of "paypal" fees. After agreeing to pay by check he adds another $30 "part" to the total. Anyway after calling him out on his BS he basically flipped out on me and his tone escalated from completely apathetic to plain rude and disrespectful. They did nothing, and charged me $60. My dryer was not working, and I suspected it was lint backup. They stuck their hand in the out outside and told me it was just a little bit of lint and that it wasn't necessary to clean it out. Then they told me I needed to cut the tube so lint wouldn't get stuck. They could do it for me, but they would have to charge me more money. I asked if they could please clean the duct, and they said it would be an extra $60 to move the dryer to assess it and then an extra $60 for them to actually clean it. So I paid $60 for a service charge for them to come in and do nothing. read more

I was very impressed with the prompt service and courtesy of the service professional, Ed that came to do the work. I called with the problem in the morning and Ed the service technician was on the job in the afternoon with the problem repaired. Was able to handle payment quickly online which was a bonus as well. read more
