If you are LGBT or not Christian I would be wary of hiring this company. During the time they were in my house they noticed that I had some spiritual items and began a conversation that turned into a 60min discussion of how I was going to hell and needed to be saved, how LGBT people have "a mental disease", how the earth is only 6000 years old, and how Jewish people, Catholics, Muslims, and people of other faiths are going to hell as they are not saved. I am a woman living alone & did not feel fully safe after the tech gave an analogy about God's love and free will that opened with "if I kidnapped you and locked you in my basement and made you my wife..." - so instead of pushing back firmly I just tried to smile and nod my way through it. After he left I realized how deeply inappropriate and unprofessional the interaction was. It also turned out there was nothing actually wrong with my dryer (seems like it had just frozen up, but worked fine when he first arrived and tested it), so I paid $180 for him to clean dust from the unit with a toothbrush while telling me I was going to hell. Horrible service. Came out, diagnosed the problem. Said he found the part but it would be almost $400. I specifically asked if Leo thought it would be worth it. Leo said yes. He installed the part and it did not solve the problem. When I called, texted, wrote on their website, the owner never came back out to see if it was a bad part or if he diagnosed the problem wrong. He claims he told me it may not work. That is a lie as I would never spend that kind of money if he would have been honest with me. He claims parts have a warranty and so does The work. I called Jefferson Appliance to see if they could help me with my Maytag washing machine. I overloaded it and it stopped spinning all together. The manager answered and asked for a picture of model # ect. She told me she'd call back after talking to her service man . Sure enough she called back and said they don't service my particular model. But they gave me a tip to fix. Unplug machine for at least 30 minutes. They never came out; they never texted me. When Leo called he claimed he told me, "I told you that might not be it". No, he told me it was a bad part and it would fix the problem. Leo knows more than anyone you will find about appliance repair. My vintage 1950s Tappan Custom electric wall oven has not been working for the past 8 months. During this time, I have contacted appliance repair specialists from all over the country and had no luck finding anyone who can repair it. Today, Leo of Jefferson Appliance saw a picture of my oven and using the experience he gained with appliances since he was a young boy, he thought through the troubleshooting and called me on the telephone to make a couple of suggestions about what could be the problem. It was his second suggestion that did the trick. No need for a house call, and because it was all done over the phone he refused my offer to pay for the remote repair. He endeavored to help me because he's a good person; and he was able to help me with a very unique appliance because he has a vast and superior knowledge or appliances. I could not be more grateful. I love my vintage oven so much and I would never have given up on it. Thanks to Leo my retro oven is back in action. I can't say enough good things about Leo and Cathy at Jefferson Appliance. I manage about 20 short term rentals, and anytime I have an issue, they are prompt and efficient at scheduling me, showing up, and Leo is super knowledgeable and helpful. I've even called them a few times for what I thought was an appliance breakdown, and in both of those scenarios, Leo went out of his way to diagnosed the problem even though it was NOT related to the appliance. I called Jefferson Appliance in September to look at 3 appliances at my old double (which I'm currently renting out). Of course, on one appliance the problem wouldn't duplicate while the repair person was there. Figures. Another problem turned out to be a loud motor and as the dishwasher was out of warranty, it would cost more for a new motor than to just replace the whole machine. Satisfactory answers on both and the price of the new motor was related via a follow up call. The final appliance was a front loader washing machine. We were told it wasn't working because my tenant was using too much soap and they left. But it turns out that it only worked once or twice after they tried the approved cleaning method. So I called Jefferson Appliance back...and left a couple of messages. No one has ever returned my phone call. Perhaps they've gone out of business? Or maybe they just don't want mine. read more

Whether you need: refurbishing, a checkup or even looking for parts (J.A.R.) will help. Even, if you're shopping around for a vintage stove or other appliances, call them first! They have many wonderful appliances in rotation; which they fix and will sell them to you in perfect working order. I had my O'Keefe and Merritt stove refurbished. (J.A.R.)took care of everything, they sent out my thermostat control to be rebuilt, recalibrated all the burners, griddle, and oven. My O'Keefe and Merritt stove works beautifully! Just like brand new! FYI: If you live outside of the New Orleans Metro area you might have to bring it in to the shop. Completely worth it for so many reasons. *The ONLY other places I found that where specialized and fixing old stoves were in New York and California! Thoughts: My grandfather used to always tell me to buy the best. It is better to fix something of quality than to buy something temporary that is going to break. They have helped us several times over the years, so I thought a review was overdue. Whether it was the dishwasher wiring, the washing machine drain, or the fridge not cooling, they always knew what was going on, repaired it fast, and didn't inflate the cost. And every time, when I told them what else was going on (sometimes with appliances they weren't here to fix) they always gave me advice, even telling me how to save the cost of another service visit and how to DIY as well as where to get the parts. Completely Unreliable, choose another company. 1 week ahead of time, I scheduled a repair service for a 5 hour time window between 0900 and 1400. At about noon, I called to confirm that someone was coming, they said that absolutely yes. At about 1330, I called again and left a message. Finally, at 1400 someone called me to ask if I still wanted them to come out and that they might be able to get to me today. I went on an errand since the window was over, and when I returned I gave the repairman another chance, but he said he was to busy to come out. They have no respect for other people's time. Called them to fix the refrigerator for my elderly parents since they offer five-star, same-day, speedy service. They came out and collected the full amount of the repair and said they would be back the next working day and not to worry about the food. That it would be fine. That day came and went with no calls from the technician... although the office called to say he would definitely be there twice. The day ended and now all of the food is bad and they do not answer their phones. We not only paid the full amount ahead of time but now have lost all of the food. To think they did this knowingly when they realized my elderly parents would have to throw away their food while they waited a couple of days, believing in them, is awful. Reliable, professional, local. I think they get the job done right and are probably the best appliance repair outfit in the New Orleans metro area. My dishwasher failed while still under home warranty. The warranty company called out a repair company that said it was unfixable. Then I was referred to Jefferson Appliance. They came out and diagnosed and fixed the problem efficiently and effectively. What I also appreciated, as a working woman, that they had fairly flexible appointment times (not "sometime between 1 and 5pm" then show up at 6:30pm like their "competition") Two very friendly gentlemen (one in training) handled it with a snap. I was a little disappointed because if no one could have fixed the dishwasher, then the warranty would have replaced it. ;) But now that I'm on my own dime these are the people I would call first. I was given repair window of 8am-5pm; I was told on the phone I would get a call or text 30 minutes in advance. No call, no text, guy shows up at 5:15pm with his son, a teen by the looks of him. Gave me a diagnosis after an hour or so, charged me the $89 service fee & said they'd follow up for repair and estimate. Guy speculated the part would be well over $200. Then three days go by, nada nothing. My husband goes on here and sees all the bad reviews, hollers at me for calling them & wasting our money, calls Sears & gets 25% off coupon. Sears guy arrived, very professional, uniform and everything, diagnoses the issue, gives me complete & total bill & sets date for the repair. Upshot: read the reviews before you call and DON'T call Jefferson Appliance. They're unprofessional crooks. read more

I called yesterday around noon about a leaky washer. They were here in less than 2 hours and even though the problem wasn't something that they could fix (I needed a plumber) they recommended a great guy who was ready to come right over and do the work. They were so nice and didn't mind my dogs jumping on them and trying to give them kisses. The price was great and the owner even showed me (without being condescending) another problem we were having with the washer which was a quick cheap fix. I will definitely be calling them again. I only wish that while they were here I had remembered our broken dishwasher... 10 stars! read more

We bought our first home and the previous owner wasn't much for maintaining his appliances. Our stove/range is a Viking. It's wonderful, but I was having trouble with the oven and not very familiar with the appliance in the first place. Leo not only repaired it without my needing to buy any new parts, he taught me about the appliance and its maintenance. He is as knowledgeable and reliable as they come. While he was here, he checked out our wonky fridge and had a quick look at our washer and dryer. Honestly, having someone so experienced come in and check out your appliances.... someone not interested in overcharging you or finding something wrong that isn't wrong.... someone who knows how to repair things without you needing to purchase new parts (i.e. less waste and more savings)... someone like this is key for all homeowners. I've been trying to get these people to fix my refrigerator for a few weeks. Every time you call, no matter what time of day, the call goes to voicemail. After leaving several messages, still no call back. Today I tried again and got the ring-beep sound which signals that someone is on the phone (call waiting), but still no answer, nor a call back. The guy on the recording sounds like he couldn't give a rat's ass about a customer, and was probably too busy talking to his fat cousin Boudreaux. If it were possible to give negative stars, I would. I am extremely tolerant and have never gone out of my way to write a review for anything, but these guys really pushed me over the edge. DO NOT use Jefferson Appliance for repair for anything. Not only are the unreasonably priced, they are unprofessional, and EXTREMELY rude. These people do bad business. I submitted a request on their website. I was told that someone would be there between 8 and 2 the next day. I arranged for someone to be at my home , and no one came in that time. The repairman, who was nice enough, showed up finally at 5:30, took one look at my washing machine and told me he didn't have the parts with him, nor did he have a socket wrench with him, and that he'd have to come back the next morning. I'm not a repair person, but I would think that is a pretty standard tool. The man told me he'd be back the next morning and did not return until the next afternoon. Another day wasted waiting for them. The final bill seemed pretty high, so I wanted to know what I paid for. I called and was referred to Leo, who assured me he'd look into it and return my call. A week has passed with no return, so I decided to call back. I just got off the phone with Leo, he was INCREDIBLY rude and insulting to me. He basically told me that everything goes, "by a book" but still did not tell me what I paid for. He told me that the conversation was over, and it didn't matter that I was dissatisfied because the job had been done and HUNG UP on me. Now, had he have called me back like he assured me he would have, and told me what I paid for, perhaps I'd be more understanding. The fact I had to call back because of his negligence and was then insulted is absolutely uncalled for. Do NOT do business with these people. read more

Well, after reading the other reviews, I am not going to be saying anything really new or different here. I called initially about a dishwasher that needed to be repaired. They came out promptly, charged me $97 and told me i needed a part, and they would call me back when they had it. They called me back right away, and said they had the part, and could they come the next day? Well, the next day came and went, and I was stood up---after rescheduling my entire day around them! This lead to literally WEEKS of me calling with no return call, trying over and over to get back in touch and get the job done. I finally went with another company. I would not recommend Jefferson Appliance to anyone. They were extremely unprofessional. It seems they just wanted their quick $97 assessment fee, and not much more. I called Jefferson Appliance to repair a freezer. I was told the the visit was $85 but that the $85 would be subtracted from the cost of repair. The serviceman showed up with a screw driver. Checked out the freezer and said he had to order a part. But he would have to order it later and left. He called back with the price of the part. But said that it would be an additional $85 to come out to install the part. If you decide to use this guy get all the charges on the phone before he comes out. read more

The last "kind" review was written by someone in their company. Not only do they not give the 89.00 back or apply it to the bill, they ordered parts that I did not need, marked them up, charged me for (4) and I found out from the appliance manufacturer that I only need 2 of the parts. Leo is the owner, he does not separate the material parts from the labor on the hand written bill and adds on hours that he did not spend on the labor. When he is questioned, he is unprofessional and verbally abusive and threatening. Wish I had read the other reviews and called the Attorney Generals office before I hired them. This guy has been in the business for over 25 years, and he really knows what he's doing. This guy is especially good if you have a vintage oven, as they are, in his words, 'his passion.' Finally found a reliable appliance repair man! Both of my ice makers stopped working on my refrigerator/ freezer. Mr. Leo came out same day. He diagnosed the problem immediately, and called me the next morning with the cost to replace and parts on hand. He scheduled to come out at my convenience and replaced the ice maker. They will charge you for the appt. and then call the day they are to arrive and give some excuse why they have to re-schedule. ( this happened a total of three times during my ongoing experience with a dryer repair) They came to repair my dryer and replaced a part, part burned out in less than 2 weeks and giving them the benefit of the doubt it might have been a bad part. After the repairs and labor, it was quite expensive he charged 25.00 per roller. nd out the rollers cost about 16.00 each. I looked up the spec sheet on my Maytag dryer and found out I only have two rollers. i called him on it and he began screaming like a mad man. Completely bizarre and unprofessional behavior. First of all, the repair man showed up with 2 apprentices who were standing on my walkway horsing around when we met at the house. I was not even sure who they were and they had no uniforms on so I asked and was told that he was training people which I then understood. We went to my front door and I asked them to wait for a minute while I put the dog up so she did not jump on them or get out with all of the traffic. When I came back they had left. I called the repair man's cell phone, left a message, and also called the company back and was never answered or give a reason for this strange and very unprofessional behavior. read more

I would most definitely recommend Jefferson Appliance if you need any of your appliances serviced. I recently called them about a dryer issue and they came out timely as promised, fixed my dryer issue for a reasonable price, which was a pleasant surprise since my dryer is 20+ years old. While they were there, they provided me with helpful information that will hopefully allow me to keep the dryer running properly for a few more years. They also provided me with information regarding my refrigerator that will help me keep my refrigerator in proper working order. Leo and his son were very timely, polite and helpful. 12/20/2018 New Orleans, LA. I made an appointment for November 7, 2018, to repair my front loading Amana washer. Leo, the owner, arrived on time. I showed him the washer and told him the problem. For the next 30 minutes, he lectured me as to how difficult it would be to service this stackable unit and that i should have bought a stack W/D unit that was serviceable from the front instead of having to pull the unit out of its working location. Finally after 30 minutes i said "aren't you going to turn on the washer and see what the actual problem is". He complied and in 5 minutes declared that the water drain pump needed to be replaced. I asked how much to repair. He said he would call me in an hour with a price "as soon as he figured out what he was going to charge me". After 2 phone calls the next day, he finally returned my calls, and said he could make the repair later in the day for $552. I agreed assuming that this would be reduced by the original diagnostic call of $89 (as i was told) and with a 10% senior citizen/veteran discount also. After the repair, I was charged with tax (which i was not told prior) and the bill was $607. After the deductions, i was charged a total of $555. $3 more than the original price of $552. A couple of weeks later i was reviewing the bill and realized the bill didn't make sense based on what i had been told. I called Leo and 2 days later he returned my call to explain the bill. When asked for a break down of the bill as to parts and labor, he refused and said that it was a flat fee, in contradiction to his earlier statement to me that he needed "to figure out what he was going to charge me." He finally agreed that he had overcharged me $3. I believe his math is faulty and his billing practice is deceptive at best. My total bill should have been$496 not $555. Had i been thinking clearly on November 8, when i was given the repair price of $552 I would not have agreed to the repair. The charge to repair was inflated and i could have almost bought a new washer for the cost of the repair. By the way, I have not yet received the $3 refund much less the $59 i claim the refund should be. Leo seems to be a competent repairman but his pricing is deceptive and inflated. Gary T.
