The Appy Lodge is a very nice, quiet hotel in a very good location. The lodge is close enough to the Gatlinburg main attractions but far enough away to offer a very quiet, peaceful escape from the crowds. The trolley stops right next to the lodge, which saves on the high parking fees downtown. The location offers quick access to roads leading into the national park or straight into Pigeon Forge. The lodge itself is really beautiful and well built. The solid construction means very quiet rooms. The employees are courteous and helpful, and the place is clean and tidy. My only complaint.....the morning coffee is absolutely the worst tasting coffee I have ever had. It doesn't even taste like coffee. I only have morning coffee, but that one or two cups is important for me. They have Keurig coffee machines in the rooms, but I don't like that plastic, chemical tasting coffee either. They really should change coffee brands and learn how to brew a good pot of coffee! I recommend this lodge for your stay in Gatlinburg. read more

We stayed here during our trip to Gatlinburg and really enjoyed it! I liked how this lodge was located before driving into the city so you can avoid the traffic. We did get a balcony room with two queen beds and had a nice view. There was also plenty of parking in the lot. Room overall was spacious and pretty clean and came with all the features in a standard hotel. The complimentary breakfast was also a nice touch with pancakes, eggs, biscuit sandwiches, yogurts, bagels, cereal and a coffee and tea station. There was also a fire pit outside which seemed to be crowded whenever we wanted to go sit by the fire. Downtown Gatlinburg was only a 15min walk away and Pigeon Forge was about a 5 mile car ride away. There is also a trolley with a stop right in front of the hotel which can take you to either location. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here! read more

Just got back from a 6 night stay here! Throughly enjoyed my stay! While I did enjoy my stay, I do have some pro's and cons. Pro's: 1. Location - you are a stones throw away from the strip in Gatlinburg and just a couple miles from Pigeon Forge. Perfect location without being in the middle of everything. 2. Quiet - With the hotels location, you don't have the noise you'd have staying near the strip in Gatlinburg. Even inside the hotel, it is peacefully quiet. Never heard anything while inside our room. 3. Indoor Pool / Hot Tub - Their pool and hot tub are great! Clean and relaxing! They also provide towels for use! 4. Trolley Stop - The hotel is a trolley stop! If you don't want to drive to the strip, just hop the trolley right outside the hotel! It's super convenient! 5. Free downtown parking - If you do want to drive closer to the strip, the front desk has free parking passes for the Bearskin Parking garage on the strip (by TGI Fridays). We asked for passes on 3 separate occasions... saved us $60 in parking charges! 6. Staff - The staff here are great and make you feel at home. They are all super friendly and everyone feels like a friend! 7. The bed - I found the bed in our room to be very comfortable and soft! Perfect for me! 8. Fire pits - there's two fire pits just outside the front doors that are lit daily. They are perfect to enjoy on chilly fall evenings! 9. Cleanliness- This place is impeccably clean. Two thumbs up. (And housekeeping emptied our trash, replaced towels, and made our bed daily!) 10. The decor - this place is all decked out in everything Appalachian Trail themed... even down to each individual room. No detail was spared. Each room is also "named" after a spot on the trail! Very cool touch! Cons: 1. Breakfast - Yes they have an included grab and go breakfast, but I feel the options are lacking. Your options are cereal, oranges/apples, plain oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, prepackaged Eggo waffles, bread, banana bread, prepackaged danishes, and 2 types of prepackaged breakfast sandwiches that you have to put in the microwave. Sure, it's sufficient, but honestly I just feel like it's lacking. I've stayed at other Oaktenn properties that have great hot breakfasts. This one is small and lacking in comparison. Maybe the breakfast is supposed to fit in with the whole theme of the hotel? Not sure. I'm just not a big fan of the grab and go style. 2. Room Size - I had a king bed room with a fireplace. I felt the room was small. In general, it did have ample storage in the closet, but over all, just small. 3. No desk - Our room did not have a desk. Not sure if that was just because we had a fireplace instead or what. The extra space to sit with my laptop would have been nice. (They provide a small lap desk in the room to use) Overall, as you can see, there's way more pros and cons to the Appy Lodge! I would absolutely stay here again without hesitation! read more

Loved our stay at The Appy Lodge! Location 5 stars At the cleaner, quieter and prettier(in my opinion) end of main strip. Easy access to get out of Gatlinburg, right next to the bypass so you don't have to go through Gatlinburg traffic. The main strip is a bottle neck. There is also a shell gas station and an awesome breakfast place next to it. Room 5 star Our room 337 was exceptionally clean. The view from the windows was a Mountain View with fall colors and a stream. You can even slightly crack open the window for fresh air which I loved. Beautiful bathroom with modern stonework. Facilities 5 stars We didn't eat the free breakfast on-site, we have special dietary restrictions and chose to go to Flap Jacks right next door they have gluten free waffles and pancakes !! But the breakfast here included pretty good options like fruit yogurts, steel cut oats and refrigerated breakfast sandwiches with Egg, Gouda & Bacon. The pool was nice, but we loved the jacuzzi after our long hikes. There was an on-site mini golf that we didn't try but looked like fun. Ample parking, and a free Trolley that came every 30 minutes to the lodge. We were originally given the room right behind the elevator which we immediately switched. It was really a muffled gong but am a light sleeper. The hotel was really quiet but we only stayed there during 5 weeknights. I highly recommend this place and will definitely stay here again. Additional tip: if you like great coffee (if you are like into single source etc)... you need to bring your own coffee for Gatlinburg. I even tried the only coffee roasters in town and it was just bad coffee. read more

This location is a former Fairfield Inn that is now part hotel, part tribute to the Appalachian Trail. It has clean, comfortable spacious rooms at a great price. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location isn't perfect, but it has a trolley stop in the parking lot and they will give you a single use parking pass for a garage at one of their other properties to use to go downtown. Breakfast is a basic continental style. If you want something fancy you can spend the money you saved on the room on breakfast in Gatlinburg. read more

We loved this hotel so much. Affordable and beautifully decorated. We rented a cabin for the weekend and due to heavy snow we weren't able to get to it our first night in town. Once we got into our room, the king suite, we were not upset about it. We may stay here full time our next trip. The bear in the lobby was a huge hit with the kids. Super Clean and Perfect! This place is perfect! My room was super clean and that is the most important thing these days. My bed and pillows were comfortable. I love they give each bed 4 pillows so you can choose the best ones! Every staff member that I encountered was all top notch and always pleasant. The housekeeping staff is very attentive and quiet. That is such a nice change compared to other places where they are frequently shouting in the hallway which you're trying to sleep in. I came here in a whim and last minute. I tried to get a room at their sister hotel but it was sold out and they recommended here. I was very lucky to get a room (last one) on a holiday weekend! The prices are perfect and not ridiculous. As a combat military veteran, I have never been treated so bad in my life at a hotel. My husband booked a King room with a balcony. This is what we reserved and had in our confirmation. They tried to pass off a room on the first floor with a patio. My husband said that is not what we book or paid for. Basically we were told take this or you can LEAVE! 28 years in the military and I have never treated someone like this or have I been treated! ALL MILITARY PERSONNEL and VETERANS take you business elsewhere! read more

We stayed here and I like this one because it is out of town a little bit and it is more of a mountain type log cabin looking lodge. There is a couple fireplaces out in the front usually going up until 11pm. There is a nice pool but we did not use the pool . It looks pretty nice for families. They have breakfast in the morning and a little gift shop. Our bed was super comfortable And room clean. I think I would've preferred some rugs on the wood floor in our room for Comfort and aesthetics maybe fur rugs.Everyone at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful. I wish the trolley would get to us sooner that's the only downfall of this hotel. Waiting for the trolley takes way to long And then there's no guarantee you'll get on it if it's busy.I would recommend that they have a private one way van to the town and then take trolley back . Other than that our whole stay was nice! read more

Good value for money. Clean, not too far to walk to downtown mash of ppl. Beds comfy. Desk staff nice and helpful. Only drawback is if ur booking id ask if they have sports team booked in...tail end of our stay lodge was set up on by teenage football players and sports parents of all the 13 yr old skippin D1 goin' straight to pro kids. Resulted in incident at pool and police being called. Lodge staff did best they could...but ppl never fail to disappoint and this was no exception. Grow TF up ppl and teach ur kids some manners and how to be a gentleman, not an entitled spoiled knuckle dragger. Aside from that...the Lodge is a safe bet and a wonderful place. read more

We paid extra for a balcony but It was so loud on the street we couldn't use it. We also didn't sleep due to the noise. There was black mold in the bathroom. The bed is worn out; I was afraid I would fall out of bed. Terrible customer service. Not welcoming and didn't seem to care if we were happy customers or not. I would avoid this hotel. read more

Great stay with a lot of character and lodge charm. I loved all of the details... rail baseboard & plaid carpeting in the hallways, log framed mirrors, beds, lamps etc. really add to the theme. Beautiful establishment! Everything was in great condition. The staff was helpful and patient with the small horde of cheerleaders that they were housing. We will be coming back! The only reason that I didn't give five stars is because housekeeping didn't come during our stay. The first time may have been our fault with a do not disturb sign on the door, but the second time we made sure there was no sign on the door and specifically asked the housekeepers on our floor to stop by. The lack of housekeeping didn't spoil the experience though! Loved our stay!! read more

Came in the room after checking in and found food on the floor and bugs and food on the chair! Called the front desk and the girl is the only one here I guess. She said she couldn't come clean it until after she got off. I told her not to worry about that I would take care of it. It's so frustrating when you want to relax after traveling and don't feel you can because of the floors dirty and chair what else wasn't really cleaned!! Won't be back here! read more

Clean lodging, friendly staff, and very rustic atmosphere. Awesome hotel and great for families. Pool is ok, hot tub is ok, both are very small can't speak to the outdoor set up because we were there in off season. The fitness room is nothing to speak of, it is a treadmill, elliptical, and bike. Plus a full room length mirror so you can see yourself get half a workout in, if you're not worried about that then it's a great stay. If you're worried about workout facilities there is a gym up the street. read more

Looks amazing from the outside.... don't be fooled. We first walked into our room and felt like I had walked into someone's damp moldy basement the smell was so bad it took us back. The children automatically started coughing I tried to open the windows to no avail. No clean air to be found they have the windows screwed shut to where you only get a bit of clean oxygen. I then asked to move rooms and was sent across the hall to a room with moldy food left in the furniture. After this I again asked to move we were sent to a room again that the smell was so horrid -mold mildew that I couldn't stay in there. I then said do you have another floor I was taken to a room then that had another guests things in it still meaning it had not been cleaned. Alas we finally we were put in a room that was mildly acceptable. I ended up driving to the Food city and buying cleaning products and disinfection supplies to include fabric disinfectant. So if you want to stay here bring your cleaning supplies your air purifier and some DEEP rose colored glasses. I guess if you drink enough liquor you might be able to look past the horrid upkeep of this dump with a nice makeup job on the exterior. read more

The lobby, fire pits, and other amenities were wonderful. Front desk employees were super friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and very comfortable. On our last day there was a guy blowing leaves in the parking lot and he blew stuff all over my car. When I tried to address it with him, he was not nice. I went to the general manager Katie Johnson, and she handled it swiftly and professionally. This is our second year staying at Appy Lodge and we will be back for sure. Okay, there might be a certain type of individual who likes a place like this, one undeterred by little dirty fingerprints in the lobby, filth in the room, noise and sub-standard service. Said individual might actually enjoy a rousing hokey sing-along right outside their ground level window, they might even work up the gumption to resist sleeping after driving for eight hours and hop on out to play the Conway Twitty to the dying dog-male drunk AF Loretta Lynn in a bonfire duet for the ages, Tennessee-style. I am no longer that individual. This place made me wish I'd majored in economics and not visual art. Surely there are better accommodations for those with deeper pockets. read more

I spent there only one night but the experience was fabulous. The lady on reception deak welcomed us with very positive attitude and made it very quick for us to check-in. The room, although one of the last available, was very clean and cozy. The design made us feel very comfy. The staff is very friendy and helpful l. The outdoor fire pit just outside main entry is a great place to chill after the day of hiking. If it is still too cold they offer you very soft and preety blankets that match the disign of interiors. I would be more satisfied if the variety of breakfast items was larger but still it was at acceptable level and the lady taking care of the food area did it with a lot of attantion.The price to quality ratio is very good. Not what I expected. Pros: Good shower, Good atmosphere, exterior very nice, good location Cons: Room Very SMALL, website very deceiving, breakfast is bad! Only option is Jimmy Dean Sandwiches, but when I asked about them they replied, "the truck hasn't come in, and not sure when or if it will.", ) weight room has no weights!, indoor pool is very small-and both weight room and exercise room close too early. Only 1 elevator and it's soooo slowwww!! Give us our creature comforts! read more

The hotel was comfortable except for the smell of the air conditioner/heater. When the unit was running it was emitting a moldy smell. They did something to the unit the first night, but the smell was back the second night. read more
