Some hotels give you a place to sleep…read more The Hilton Garden Inn Gatlinburg gives you a place to sleep... and occasionally a front-row seat to a bear. Seriously. If spotting wildlife is on your Smoky Mountain bucket list, this hotel may save you a trip into the national park. And if that bear gets a little too curious, you're already safely inside. The location is one of the best in Gatlinburg. It's right in the heart of town, yet tucked away on River Road, just far enough from the Parkway to avoid much of the noise and chaos. You can walk to everything and still feel like you've escaped the crowds. The hotel itself is clean, comfortable, and well maintained. But what keeps bringing us back is the staff. Hospitality is one of those things that's easy to advertise and harder to deliver. These folks deliver it. Everyone we've encountered has been friendly, welcoming, and genuinely interested in making guests feel at home. We've stayed here three years in a row. And we're already planning year four. In the hotel business, that's about the strongest recommendation I can give.

You can pay via card or charge to your room. * Very clean lobby restroom Cons * NEW - they now charge a $45 self-parking fee per stay. We found this out when we got our receipt upon checking out * Bathtub/shower drain was so slow, you stood in 3-4 inches of water every shower * Shower curtain was too short so you had to direct the shower head towards the shower wall and away from the middle, otherwise you'd soak the floor * Weird moldy looking stain on comforter * Motion sensor on thermostat, so at night it would become unbearably hot while we slept. Only when we got up did the AC kick back on. They also have a breakfast but I can't understand why anyone would eat hotel breakfast when some of the best breakfast restaurants are within a short walking distance. So no comment on that, because we didn't even bother. I don't know, it just seemed like adding insult to injury when we saw the $45 self-parking fee after the room issues we had. We'll probably look elsewhere for our next Gatlinburg stay.

Their gym is super tiny with very little equipment so we didn't workout the days we were there except to run outside. We went to have a drink in the bar one night after coming back to the hotel. The bartender (Samantha) looked at some guy at the bar when we sat down and said "what time is it?" We felt unwanted and rushed so we paid for Our drinks and immediately left. That put a very sour taste in my mouth. When you check in, look for ROBBIE. She is so sweet and gives you lots of information.

The lobby is a standout: a great coffee shop/café, the fireplace always going, and an atmosphere that makes it genuinely inviting to sit, meet, or just relax. The rooms are beautiful and well kept, and somehow we always manage to spot a bear while we're here, which never gets old. Reliable, comfortable, and welcoming -- this has become our go-to stay in Gatlinburg.

Oh, food options were good, literally one of the best breakfast buffets. I've been to at a hotel, however, if you got there at 8:30 or beyond, good luck in the buffet hunger games. I will add the bar staff were exceptional, and the complementary happy hour is a solid win. The challenges are that the service is actually not great for being such a young hotel. Room service was abysmal, I'll touch a picture of a "made bed". They apparently don't automatically clean the room, you have to ask them for a full clean, which is very odd considering most hotels you have to ask them to not clean the room. At the pool, there was a situation where a child threw up, I notified maintenance, who then came back and said nope, the front desk said he couldn't report it, a guest had to report it, therefore the vomit stayed for another 35 minutes, even though we wiped it as best as we could (not our child). Our toilet was broken for the duration of our six nights. Additionally, they were shortstaffed. So you could tell the front desk didn't have rotation, there weren't people walking around, checking to make sure everything was clean and ready. To be fair it could've been the fact that this was the busiest they've been all season, but as a major hotel, it feels like you should be equipped and prepared. I would also add that the trolleys were lacking, and it took us a long time to get one to be able to bring our belongings in. But still, I think three stars is fair, and hope they can up some things when we come back because we will be back, Gatlinburg was awesome!

I had to search for negatives. Considering almost all neighboring properties had balconies for each room and cost less per night , I felt this was a lost opportunity. The positives, everything else! The room was clean and beautiful. The daily Manager's reception was a nice treat, two swimming pools, lazy river (closed when I went), multiple seating areas throughout the property and friendly staff had all the elements for a 5-star rating. And let's not forget the notable Embassy Suites breakfast. We truly enjoyed our time here and did not want to leave. I would most definitely return.

It's located right off the strip and you can walk to the parkway without having to go up hills to get the to "fun" . Breakfast was great and had biscuits and gravy w eggs and Canadian Bacon and fresh fruit and waffles. I recommend taking your food to the sitting area on the water right off the breakfast area. Bathrooms off the lobby were nice and clean. I know it's an odd thing to review but the ladies bathroom had complimentary feminine hygiene products. Showers in room was nice w nice hot water. You do enter the rooms from the outside but it looks like each room has a balcony w a sitting area w chairs. We will definitely be back!

The rooms are spacious, and the views are absolutely unbeatable. What truly stands out, though, is the location. Perched on top of a mountain, it offers some of the most spectacular views in all of Gatlinburg, while still being close to downtown. You get the best of both worlds -- the peace, beauty, and silence of nature, along with easy access to restaurants, nightlife, and attractions. The most important highlight of this hotel is its staff. From the front desk to the kitchen team, housekeeping, and the bar staff, everyone is kind, polite, friendly, and incredibly welcoming. Without a doubt, one of the best hotels in Gatlinburg. We only stayed a few days, but we will definitely be back. Lastly, I'd like to highlight the food. The breakfasts are not only delicious but also very generous in size -- definitely big enough to share -- and dinner is just as good.

We got a king suite. The room was on the river side of the second floor. Our room had a balcony with a great view of the river below. It was well appointed with a fireplace for cooler months, a jetted tub, sofa, chair with ottoman, large TV, and king bed. The bed was a little uncomfortable for me though that could be simply a preference thing (my husband seemed aok with it). We definitely enjoyed the jetted tub after days spent hiking at the park! The room was a good value and though it had a well worn feel, it was comfortable for our stay. Bonus: there's a bear that frequents the river and we saw her more than once on our strolls to dinner. They charge $15 a night for parking which is crazy for a mid hotel, but the crazier part was I rented 2 rooms for a volleyball tournament stay, but drove in one car. They charged me parking for both rooms for both nights even though I called the front desk from the room AND stopped by on my way out to make sure I wouldn't be charged for 2 cars/parking spots. Both times I was assured it would be taken care of. It was not. So, basically I pad $60 to park one car there for 2 nights. Crazy! Stay somewhere else!

A gentleman greeted me at the door and kindly explained he still had a few final preparations to handle. Even with a restroom request, they held firm on the timing. True to his word, the doors opened at 5:00 PM sharp. As you walk in, you're welcomed by a staff member who checks your name and guides you to your seat. What's quirky and fun is that the same man who takes your ticket also performs the entire one-man show! The stage sits just six feet from the front row, creating a cozy and personal atmosphere. The space is very clean, and soft background music plays while you wait. The restroom is located at the back, which means you'll have to walk across in front of the audience if nature calls mid-performance. It's spotless and includes a single handicap-accessible bar next to the toilet. Best to go beforehand. There's a small counter that offers snacks and drinks, though in my opinion, the prices didn't match the portions. A little steep for what you get. This show is best suited for younger children rather than adults. That's why I gave it a higher rating, viewed through the right lens, it's charming and lighthearted. However, if it were intended for a broader adult audience, I'd probably rate it lower. One notable drawback was the unlocked front door during the performance. While we were mid-show, two people wandered in asking about future tickets, and the performer actually paused the show to answer them. I get the hustle, but it broke the flow and felt disruptive. You're welcome to film the performance, which is unusual and at the end of the show, comes a QR code encouraging guests to leave a positive review. A little unconventional, but memorable.

The bathroom had a vent with tons of rust, the paint was chipped all over the walls. Beat up and scuffed furniture. The patios were sad and depressing. The patio door was broken and did not lock. The view is "sad creek with creepy parking lot." The hotel also gives a complimentary margarita coupon to guests. We do not drink alcohol. When I went to the bar I asked the manager if we could trade it in for a non-alcoholic margarita or NA beer and they said no, only alcoholic margaritas. How ridiculous! Not even a freaking mocktail margarita! After staying at the Gatlinburg resort property this was a huge let down. We have since learned they are two different franchise owners. Suffice to say, we were going to stay two nights. We paid for two and after one night we left and booked a room at the Gatlinburg location instead. That's how bad it was.

They have outdoor balconies overlooking the shopping area or river - which was great for seeing nature (geese, beavers, herons). Facilities are nice with a good sized gym and large rooftop pool and hot tub overlooking the Ferris wheel. The roof has plenty of lounge chairs and the chill bar with great staff that will bring your orders (food included) to your chair. The hotel is pet-friendly and has an indoor fireplace-house restaurant and bar (Fins) with an outdoor patio. It also has an onsite Starbucks. While pricey, the amenities, room size, great staff, and location made it worth it! We've already started talking about our next visit!

The beds are on the firmer side (FYI) but I actually prefer that. The wifi worked with zero issue. The bathroom was nice to get ready in as well. The valet was zero fuss and timely too. It is a little off the beaten path compared to other accommodations closer to local attractions.

We had some issues with the pullout couches sheets with urine stains and other stains on pillows sheets. Even though they did some adjustments for us, I still couldn't help but constantly think if my sheets are cleaned and towels. Spoke with the MOD and seemed like she didn't care, she was like we already made adjustments to the stay like that should be enough. No apologies about the inconveniences. Checked out and never did say sorry about your stay. Poor management. Stay elsewhere.

While there were parts of the room that show its age such as the chairs in disrepair, some paint cracking and a broken lamp, overall it was a very nice hotel. Between two buildings there was a cozy seating area with girls for guests to use, a fire pit and a swing as well as plenty of chairs. There is a cute covered bridge over the creek that runs alongside the property. There was a free breakfast offered which had pancakes and waffles as was perfect for a quick easy bite before starting our day. The free trolly that goes around Gatlinburg picks up right out front of the property. There is a beautiful pool available and a grassy field with another fire pit and swings and chairs which we didn't get the opportunity to visit but definitely will on a future visit as we definitely plan to book this hotel again.

1 Star -- Beautiful hotel, but the billing experience was unacceptable…read moreI stay in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge frequently and have stayed at many hotels in the area. I have never had a hotel billing experience like this one. First, to be fair: the hotel itself is beautiful, new, and clean. Our room was clean and I have no complaint about the physical condition of the property. The problem was the service, communication, and billing. I called Hotel Indigo on Sunday, August 16, and clearly booked three nights -- August 17, 18, and 19, checking out Thursday, August 20. I specifically asked for the total price. I was told $142 per night. I then specifically asked whether that included the taxes, the $20 nightly fee, and everything else. I asked more than once because I did not want any surprises. I was told yes. I specifically confirmed that my total for three nights would be $426, and I received a confirmation number by text. After arriving, there was confusion at the hotel about the reservation and whether we were staying two or three nights. We repeatedly explained that we were staying three nights and checking out Thursday. Then at approximately 5:00 AM on Thursday, I received a notification from my bank showing a $573 charge. When I went to the front desk with my niece to question the charge, I was told that a manager had supposedly given me a discount. After they recalculated everything, I was told the final bill was $615. That means the final amount was $189 more than the $426 total I had specifically been quoted and confirmed. On top of that, we were also charged $15 for breakfast, even though we understood breakfast was supposed to be included/free with our stay. This was not a small difference or a misunderstanding of a few dollars. The difference between the confirmed total and the final bill was $189. I have stayed in hotels all over Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, and normally if a hotel tells me my total is $300, I leave paying approximately $300. I have never experienced this kind of confusion over the final bill. We did speak with management at the hotel, but I was not satisfied with the explanation. My advice to anyone staying here: get every charge in writing and carefully check your bill before you leave. The hotel is beautiful and clean, but for me, that does not make up for a billing experience that left me feeling that I could not trust the price I was being given. I will not stay here again. The window curtain in the bathroom went down about 3/4s of the way so I had to use a towel cover the rest. The sink in the kitchen would back up and the garbage disposal didnt work. The balcony would've been a nice place to relax if there wasn't a wasp nest in that same area. Complained to management about all of this and never heard back.
