The views were the best part of the stay. As far as the room goes they falsely advertised a nice renovated space. When we walked in it looked nothing like the photos. The carpet was old, had burn marks, and just looked disgusting. The couches look like they needed to be replaced 10 years ago. The window curtain in the bathroom went down about 3/4s of the way so I had to use a towel cover the rest. The sink in the kitchen would back up and the garbage disposal didnt work. The balcony would've been a nice place to relax if there wasn't a wasp nest in that same area. Complained to management about all of this and never heard back. read more

if you have autism/sensory issues, please do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. the towels are stiff and rough, the bed and couch is rock hard and uncomfortable, and there is a layer of grime on everything. there's literally graffiti on the comforter (picture attached). there are patches of the couch that are crusty, there's stains on the walls, cobwebs in the corners, very very little hot water... it's not a comfortable place. the view is nice and the price is decent, but you sacrifice a lot of comfort. the road up the mountain is pretty scary if you're not used to mountain roads with no guard rails. especially at night when it's raining. i will say that my husband who is more laid back about things said he'd give it 3 or 3 1/2 stars, but agreed with me that you're really just paying for seclusion and the view... which was gorgeous. the management also worked with us for a little later checkout with no charge, which we were grateful for. read more

My first word of warning is if you're from the Midwest you will absolutely freak out over the twisty winding switchback road you need to drive to get in and out of this place!! Pretty typical road here in East Tennessee but Deer Path Lane takes the cake for access to an whole 'nother level!! 180 degree switchback which also climb 20-30 feet during the turn! In addition you are a good 20-30 from Downtown Gatlinburg entertainment district. The rooms (condos) decorations look straight out of the 60s. Everything is clean but looks well worn. There is wig-fi for every room and several USB posts available for charging your electronics. The views out your windows are spectacular however. It was a well stocked "condo" plenty of dated dishes, silverware and all the cooking accessories you'd need to make meals in your "condo". The staff while polite were not overly friendly. They got the job done and that was about it. Southern hospitality was not their strong point. All and all it's an OK place to stay if you want great views. Just don't expect anything exceptional. For sightseeing pick a place closer to downtown Gatlinburg. read more

Spectacular views. Rooms were pretty nice...fully loaded kitchens (pots, pans, utensils, etc.). Could use a little attention to detail...baseboards in bathroom scuffed and dirty, caulk separating from bathroom sink. Nothing major, just minor cosmetic stuff. Apart from that, the staff are incredibly nice and very accommodating. The beds are clean and comfy. Live music on the sundeck. Recommend the BBQ ribs from the lounge...they smoke it right by the main office! Majestic view of the mountains....recommend taking it in just as day is breaking and sun is setting. This is a review of unit D302 at the Deer Ridge Mountain Resort as a companion to our video, which has more details. If you are considering staying at the Deer Ridge Mountain Resort, managed by Jackson Mountain Rentals or Jackson Mountain Homes in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, this will give you some idea of what to expect. I will leave some info about what we learned with our experience, along with some pros and cons. Then Jackson Mountain Rentals handles the business end of booking and taking payments. After looking at the total cost, we actually paid a little over $210.00 a night for our stay. The customer service rep who helped make our reservation over the phone was pleasant and helpful, giving a discount when we made the booking over the phone. If you look for reviews of Jackson Mountain Homes, you will see many bad reviews similar to ours. Some units may be better than others, based on how the original owners furnish and update them. Cons: - Maintenance was sketchy (see video). - Things were old and outdated (see video). - The couch was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. We tried sitting on it for a couple hours one night, and never did again. - The bed in the main bedroom was old, springy, and sagged toward the center. Probably the most uncomfortable bed we've ever tried to sleep in. Seriously. - The kitchen has an oven and stove, but no hot pads, one hand towel, no pizza cutter, and no bakeware or anything to help make something in the oven. There were dishes, silver ware, and glasses, but the kitchen overall was not nearly as functional as it could or should be. And the cupboards were old and worn. - The bathroom was dated, like other room items, but it was also worn and tattered. - When we contacted Jackson Mountain Rentals about our negative experience, they said they were sorry and they would pass this information along to maintenance and the condo owner. That is it. Pros: - The view and location. (I guess that's where they get the demand. The view and location are great, so maybe that's why they don't have to care so much about the rooms or bad reviews.) The video shows everything touched on in this review. read more

Found this place doing an extensive search online and absolutely loved our condo rental. We were able to request E308, and I must say, it is one of the nicer spots for a good rental if you want to get away from the strip and up into the hills. Such a beautiful ambiance, and far enough away where you can breathe the fresh air and take in the sights. It is pretty far out, however, taking about 10-15 minutes to get to the place from downtown G'burg, but once there... man is the area and view impressive! Situated on the top of a large hill in the foothills of the mountains, you get an absolutely stunning view of the valley down to the main strip. At night, you can see the lights of Gatlinburg from your deck. Our room had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and dining area, a living room, and a loft with two more double-beds! Super well kept, very clean, relatively modern and very livable/cozy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the check-in/check-out process, and even got a chance to swim in the heated pool and hot tub while we were there! The road to get up to the resort is very small, narrow, twisty/windy, and steep. If you go in the winter, DEFINITELY take a 4-wheel drive! They do keep the roads plowed and salted, however, so just be prepared. Also, the location of the resort makes an excellent spot to stay if you want to visit both G'burg, Pigeon Forge AND Asheville/Biltmore, as it is directly between the two! Excellent job, Deer Ridge! This resort was absolutely wonderful. Check-in is typically 4pm, but we arrived early and were able to get into our condo at 11am. The woman at the front desk was delightful and happy to accommodate all of our needs and suggest things to do and see around the area. Our condo was great. The view from the balcony was the best part. The condo was decorated in a fall theme and the furniture was really nice. Very cozy and homey place. Each couch and recliner had it's own fuzzy throw blanket. I felt like I was at my grandma's house! It was especially nice when we used the fireplace. I also loved that the bathrooms had heaters so I wasn't cold getting out of the shower! :) The kitchen also comes with coffee and everything you need to cook, which was absolutely necessary for me because I have a strict diet to adhere to. There was even a dishwasher! Overall I loved my stay here. We came here to get out of Hurricane Irma's path, so it wasn't planned. The 10hr drive from FL took 28 because traffic was so ridiculous, but the resort more than made up it. Our stress simply melted away upon entering our condo and seeing the mountains. Resort is cookie cutter. Rented A203 from hotels.com. Pictures in the listing show a jetted tub. Ours had a 1970s shower tub surround with no light above it. Decor was picked from the local flea market. Front desk staff have the personality of zombies. Amenities in the room included a "starter" pack of coffee that tastes like it was scooped up from a litter box and lots of plastic signs in the unit reminding us what we can and can't do. Pool area had lots of kids in the pool swimming fully clothed. The place was clean but out of the 100 million resorts, condos and cabins - don't expect much for your money here. read more

Our first morning here, and after washing a plate and some silverware, I got into the shower, lathered shampoo on my head, and the cold water hit me. How miserable! Maintenance incorrectly and inefficiently diagnosed, according to my engineer husband, who has replaced four tank heating elements during our marriage. Maintenance turned up the temperature, we waited 40 minutes, and my husband got a 6 minute shower before water turned cold. We're told that any resolution for our inconvenience will be addressed when the owner comes back from vacation. Things break, of course. However, this is quite disrespectful to expect 3 guests to make do with this. Maybe this isn't even a new situation? read more

We had an amazing time! What a view! We rented a small condo (C207) and it was fantastic. From what I figured those condos are individually owned and therefore the appliances and interior differ, so check the photos on the very detailed webpage! Our condo was amazing, very clean, with updated kitchen (all utensils provided) and really cute decorations everywhere, mostly bear-theme :-) For 4 dollar we purchased wood and could sit by the fireplace in our room! We were so happy to enjoy the absolutely amazing view every morning! Moreover, it is far from the touristic Gatlinburg, which for us was a huge plus! We only stayed for the weekend and did not have time to use the numerous facilities, like hot tub, sauna, pool, pool tables, grills etc., but everything made a very good impression! Reasonably priced and we will be coming back! P.S. Bring your shampoo etc, as we only got one small bottle. There is a possibility to purchase toilettries at a vending machine there. read more

Well I flew all the way from Florida to stay in a beautiful condo that looked like a cabin . I get there only to be told my rental had been changed due to a computer problem. They never called to tell me this in advance. The manager did give me part of the money back but it messed up the whole trip. I won't do that again! read more

They claim to have the best views in the Smokies, and that's no exaggeration. The views are really quite moving, and you will find this out right when you walk into your unit. Even better, there's a patio outside where people gather, a sort of community area just past the pool, and the views here are striking. In fact, the patio was the best part of the entire place; you could even order food from a little kitchen and have it brought to you. (I'm a member of a European royal family, so this is important to me.) (This is Tom's conscience. Please know that what my client said in the previous set of parentheses is completely made up.) We didn't chat up the other travelers much, but some people did, and that's one of my favorite parts about going on vacation--meeting others and finding commonalities. You could do that here. Of course, though we did not talk much to the other folks, I was certainly an attraction for the above-35 year-old women there. I never went anywhere in the resort without having a pair of eyes rolling over me like a snail traversing a rock. (Tom's conscience again: Here my client tells the truth. Hey--he's a good-lookin' guy.) There's one indoor pool on the spot, but you have to drive to get to the outdoor pool, and it was less impressive. But the kids loved the indoor pool. Rooms: Not the fanciest, but with the patio and those views, who cares? Parking: Easy. Many spots, all right there. Location: For the views, the location was great. But it's a bit of a drive into downtown Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. So if being close to the attractions is important to you, this isn't that close. But again, you're getting an unimpeded view of that wonderful mountain landscape. We had a room with an extra bed in a loft, and that made a huge difference. It freed up so much other space and meant that we didn't have to use the pull-out bed. It worked out well. Some of the people here are actual residents. One of them was a little strange; as we pulled in to the parking lot, she was sauntering across it, moving slowly (and occasionally stopping to scratch her generous-sized rump) across the parking spot we were obviously trying to enter. Perhaps, I thought, she was just one of those people who is in their own world, one of those seemingly-stoned folks who appears to have that internal soundtrack turned up to eleven. Those people are harmless. Not ready for the cut-throat world of international espionage and Advanced Dungeons and Dragons like me, but harmless nonetheless. Yet I somehow got the feeling that she was being passive-aggressive, and not thirty seconds after she meandered past our parking spot, she flipped off another family who was also attempting to pull into a spot. Very weird. It was just one person. Everyone else was cool. Have a good time! read more

two stars are for the great view. However, In 304e anyway you have a 35 yo place that has not been updated. The appliances are probably the original builder's model options. The refrigerator is clearly on borrowed time and there is a nasty note attached to it that says if it breaks on your watch YOU are paying for it. I found that a bit offensive. We are just using our cooler, it does a better job than the near non- functional refrigerator. The view from the balcony is gorgeous but please be aware of how small the balconies are..so not for more than two people out there at time. The tiny table is not even big enough for two people to eat at. .Also keep in mind ROAD noise. You do not realize how close you are to the road because you do not see the road..but that is what I heard this morning. I was hoping to hear lots of birds and other nature sounds but hard to hear over the din of traffic sounds. The traffic noise just never quits. I am writing this from the kitchen with the slider open and I can hear the noise from the road. I was surprised that there is no laundry in the units, but there is a coin laundry on the premises. They make it clear you do not get any cleaning services for the duration of your stay...yet... an envelope left for you to give money for the cleaner. If internet is important to you this is not the place for you. Spotty at best. read more

We have stayed at Deer Ridge MountainResorts for many years, but this year was especially eye opening. We stayed in condo D204, which used to be one of the best. It certainly has lost it's charm..in fact the whole resort has. Everything in the condo is dated or poorly done. The tape on the walls at the ceiling is falling down, throw rugs are antique, couch cushions don't stay together so you can fall into the hole in between, recliner is extremely hard to open or close, screen on deck door is almost impossible to open and close, four bath towels for two people for 5 days, little to no ice in the freezer and no ice machine to buy some from, the safe doesn't work, office is closed by 4 most days, and the landscaping is tragic. On top of that, the price has gone way, way up! The view is still awesome, but I don't plan to ever see it again. After nearly 20 years of visits, this one finished it for us. We will take our money elsewhere. Such a shame. read more

We had initially planned a trip for a tropical four day getaway in Belize and at last minuted opted to spend it in the mountains (doing something different) for our birthdays. So through Gatlinburg Falls Resort, we booked our four day mountain stay at The Deer Ridge Mountain Resort. All I can say is "oh boy!", these condos are nestled on top of the mountains with some majestic views of the smokies as well as the town of Gatlinburg (from afar). The grounds are well kept, clean and properly manicured. There are charcoal grills located near each unit with seating for BBQing. The condos were well maintained all bedrooms clean, the condo cam equipped with a full kitchen where they provide you with all the essentials, pots and pans, utensils, toaster, blender, microwave, glasses and etc. There is a laundry facility on the premises if you need to wash clothes. They provide free WiFi and cable, with a tv in the master bedroom and a big screen in the living room. There is also a wood burning fire place that we used each night to provide heat during our winter stay. The crackling of the burning wood and the evening view of the mountain and town lights made the experince even more majestic. From our condo drive to the town of Gatlinburg was about 15-20min. When you enter the town you have everything from restaurants to retails shops to explore. Unfortunately our stay here was shortly following the a horrific wildfire that hit parts of the town, so there where no slope rides open. However in light of that the people of Gatlinburg where still all the more pleasant and made the experience one to remember. We have already planned a follow up trip here for the spring/autumn. Hopefully this trip we will be able to see some black bears and more wildlife. I would definitely recommend Deer Ridge Mountain Resort. read more

This was the perfect retreat for us city slickers. The units could use some updating but we didn't come here for that. If you just want a nice spot away from home, this does the job! They have a little kitchen so we were able to make dinner the first night and just stay in. It's close enough to the action and the best part is the view. The previous reviewers seem to have had a nice experience, but ours was different. First, the woman at the front desk was just plain rude and indifferent as we walked in. We happened to reach there a little early exhausted from a night long trip, so tried to check in early but she wouldnt even try to accomodate us, saying that the pervious residents still havent checked out and that there were no other rooms available. I found it surprising that there was no other room that they could put us in, since the parking lot was pretty much empty. We left and returned after 3 PM only to find that the room was available, but smelled old and musty as if it hadnt been used in weeks, leading me to believe that there was no one else staying there earlier today! The room itself was'nt great but it had a view of the mountains. The carpet did'nt look very clean and there was some hair on the sofas too! The kitchen was equipped enough, but there was a note saying we had to wash and put back all dishes ourselves as we found them before leaving. We found this a little odd coz we did'nt think they expected guests to do all this work. Housekeeping was available, but at an additional charge! We then discovered that the toilet was broken with the very first flush. I called the front desk, and they told me that there was no maintenance staff available and would send one the next morning. So we had to open the toilet tank's lid to see what was wrong, and it was the ugliest tank I had ever seen. Murky with a lot of black mold! The maintenance person came in the next morning, fixed the flush and apologised for the inconvenience. Later that evening, I used the restroom again, and...I see that it once again wouldnt flush!!! While checkin out when we mentioned that the stay was just ok, the staff did'nt even bother to check what was wrong or apologise about it. I have been in the consulting industry for the last 6 years, and have stayed in tons of hotels. So I know what to expect..and this was certainly not what I expected from someone who call themselves a resort. read more

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Deer Ridge Mountain Resort; if the opportunity arises, we would certainly stay here again. We rented a one bedroom with pull out couch in the living room for our daughter. When we arrived, the first condo we were given had not been cleaned by house keeping, so we were given another set of keys for a different condo. This one was clean. The view off the balcony was amazing, but what was even better was seeing a bear cup within our first 10 minutes of arriving! He was directly below our balcony; so cute, but after he scampered into the woods below, we never saw him again... The full kitchen was well equipped - but besides breakfast, we did not take advantage of the kitchen. But please note it is a full kitchen with full size fridge, four burner stove and oven, microwave, toaster, (mini) coffee pot, and all the utensils you could need. The mattress was my only complaint. It was a bit lumpy and felt like it was falling away, but after hiking the trails, we slept pretty well. The road leading up to the resort are steep and curvy. Frankly, I do not know how they passed code! Having said that, they are super fun to drive on (in the summer) - but I agree with the other reviewers concerns about climbing this black top during winter months. We spent about $130 per night (after fees and taxes) in the month of July - and I think that price is very reasonable considering the amazing views of the mountains (and the bear cub!). read more

We booked this place on a whim and are having a fabulous time. Our cottage is adorable the views cannot be beat, and the price was wonderful. They are centrally located close to everything without being in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Check in was easy and we haven't been bothered. A few tips: There is no room service so be prepared to clean up after yourself. We found that our place doesn't have a wine opener so if you intend to drink bring your own ;-) You need your own toilet paper, paper towels etc... Getting up the mountain can be scary at first but you will get the hang of it! Keep your eyes open we saw a black bear on our way up super cool! We are already booked for next year! read more

We stayed from Friday checked out on Monday. When we arrived there were crumbs on floor under eating table and on one of those chairs. That night we noticed roaches, we called that night and talked to desk, they said someone would be there from orcan. the next day at 8:00 am. At. 9:30 I called and repeated the conversation we had the night before, they didn't have any record of it. So, around 10:00 a man arrived with a small sprayer you would buy from a big box store. We were getting ready for showers he said he would come back in a hour. We did our touring around Gatlenburg and returned late that day there was a receipt from Orcan on counter. So we assumed he was there. So, on Sunday we had more roaches on kitchen counters. No dead bugs to be found and on Monday morning noticed more roaches. We told the front desk about our experience and basically fell on deaf ears. The mattresses were old and basically low quality. The water was hot, the view was beautiful the playground for the kids was adaquate along with the recreation center was also good for ping pong. We all decided this would be rated 2 stars. Upon checking in to our room we saw pretzels and Cocoa Puffs cereal laying on the floor in front of the fireplace. That can be overlooked. The cockroaches in the bathroom can not. The view from the top floor is beautiful. We had a room right next to the office and if you want to go to bed early you can forget about it. The noise from the pool will keep you up. Speaking of the pool, we took our kids down to swim the first night here and were shocked at how many parents use the pool as a babysitter. They were dropping their kids off and either going outside on the deck to hang out or going to the bar to drink. There is a sign that says the parents must be present but they do not enforce that rule. That made our time at the pool stressful dealing with over 10 unsupervised children acting rowdy. Lastly, our last night here we decided to order dinner from the bar to take up to our room since we had to get to bed early. Bar area was a little busy. There is only one older gentleman taking orders from people and handeling call in orders. This man is 78 and got no help from anyone at the front desk. I was there for over an hour waiting on a couple pizzas to go. As my husband was voicing his frustrating to me on our way out after we finally received our order a kitchen cook overheard and yelled at my husband that they had 7 orders in front of ours. Didn't apologize for our wait. Didn't try to offer us dessert to try to make up for our time. She didn't even know that before I ordered I had waited 20-30 minutes for my order to even get taken to begin with. Would we stay here again?? Probably not. Too many other choices to pick from. Now we just have to hope that one of the roaches in our room doesn't hitch a ride with us as we head out!!! read more

Nice facility high in the Smoky Mountains with a beautiful view. Nice outdoor pool with deck and a tennis court. It has a restaurant and bar serving sandwiches open Thursday to Saturday from 4:30pm to 9:30pm. Condos are very nice each with a balcony facing the mountains and forest. One day while sitting on the balcony we saw a black bear come onto the property. Other than the pool and tennis court there is nothing to do on the condo property so a good place for R&R. The condos are not in Gatlinburg they are 12 miles outside of town. This is where you'll find groceries, restaurants, and other entertainment. The town of Gatlinburg is way over the top touristy and traffic is bumper to bumper going through the town. The areas outside of town are amazing with wild life, hiking trails; horseback riding, world class fly fishing, and family owned art and crafts stores. read more

My wife and I have stayed here at Deer Ridge before, in the "C" building. It was wonderful, 5 stars everything that we could want. This year we got the "E"building,E206. Very disappointing! This place is worn out ! Cabinets are breaking away from the walls. Air conditioner rattles so bad, it will wake you up at night. It's the same with the bath exhaust fan in bath. The furnishings in the living room is so ridiculously old and worn out. The recliner back is broke so you have to sit in a laying position the. The sofa is a pull out sleeper but the cushions are so worn out that you're sitting on the metal frame. This place is the biggest disappointment ever. I was told it was the only room available so I cannot change. I will never stay in E building again ! I haven't even begun to talk about the wallpaper peeling, the uneven floors, the carpet seams separating and stained. You can hear the people in the room above you talkin she turned on a hairdryer this morning trip the breaker and took out the power in our bedroom also. My phone doesn't work for this room. The TVs are straight out of the 80s, a great big box, sitting on the dresser you have to walk around to get into bed. The owners should be embarrassed ! read more

The condo is nicely decorated, some what easy to find, quiet, some what clean. Now I say some what clean because the house keeper didn't do a thorough job cleaning. My father was in Nam; when I cleaned he did white glove inspections on me. Therefore I expect the same type of cleaning in establishments. I can expect it all day long but seldom do I get it and this is why I bring cleaning products with me to sanitize and clean over what the "house keepers" do. The window sills had a cemetary of dead insects! Spiders, flies, other effed up looking flying insects that will make your skin crawl but no roaches. That's always a good sign no roaches, no fleas, no bed bugs, none of those. So I supposed seeing a dead fly on a window sill is better than any of that other stuff. The condos come fully loaded with everything you have in your home from a vacuum to pots and pans. Cutlery, dish soap, dishwashing soap, pot holders, you name it. All you have to do is bring groceries. They do give you 2 complimentary rolls of tp and paper towels. Oooooh let me not forget the complimentary wine thanking you for your stay, yes they provide a bottle opener as well. Warning: if you plan on arriving after 3pm let the office know so they can tell you where they will put your key. Another note, its a steep, winding, no guard rail road you have to travel up and down. If you arent a good driver, if your travel buddy is let them maneuver it for you. They dont clean your room every day and you have to take your dirty towels to the office if you run out of the ones they have stocked for you. They have at least 2-3 days worth of towels stocked for you. If you have been to vegas, myrtle beach, times square, etc. They have a strip a couple miles away with tourist trap restaurants, food novelty, and souvenirs. I really enjoyed my stay. Giving 4 out of 5 stars because of the bugs on ALL of the window sills, so please don't think I'm being petty lol if it was one I wouldn't have even mentioned it, but it was every damn window and with a place as beautiful as where we were staying why wouldn't someone want to raise the blinds and look out of the window?! And because we didn't know about house keeping doesn't clean your condo everyday. What you mess up, is up to you to clean until you check out. Or maybe you pay additional for housekeeping idk, but we didn't know anything about it. The condo has a wow factor of a loft with a spiral stair case we all got a kick out of that. They also have heated pools but we didn't take advantage of that. Very nice place to stay. I highly recommend it. If you don't want to pack your own cleaning supplies you will run into plenty dollar generals and food city is about 10-15 minutes away. read more

We were charged 200$ during hurricane Florence for the hotel and we didn't even go and had no way to make it with weather picking up and lots of places being out of gas. We have two small children and the possibility of not having gas to get there would be very bad to be left on side of the road during the storm. We WILL NEVER EVER GO TO THIS PLACE OR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. They will get karma for being so rude during such a tragic time for all of us and people who lost everything and charging someone for not coming because they couldn't give a 3 day notice. Unbelievable. We just won't be paying it and we will see you in court if you like it. read more

My wife and I have stayed at Deer Ridge twice now and each time has been a fantastic experience. No complaints whatsoever. Once you drive up the winding drive an finally reach Deer Ridge you are greeted with a sign that says "best view in the smokies". This is no lie my friends, once you walk in your condo you should immediately go and look off the balcony for breath taking views of the Great Smoky Mountain Nat'l Park. Through the evening watch as the clouds roll up and down the hills out there, its amazing if you come from the flat north, like me. Its about a 15 minute drive to downtown Gatlinburg which is really nice because you're not in the congestion and flood of tourists. We've been down there enough to not be lured into the tourist traps anymore, so being outside town is perfect for us. The price you pay for a condo here is comparable to what you'd pay at a hotel, but once you've stayed here nowhere else will ever be good enough as Deer Ridge sets the bar so high. During the fall and winter months the front office has firewood available for the fireplaces which really adds to the cozy feel. They have full kitchens, nice bedrooms, comfortable living rooms and everything you need to feel right at home. I'm giving this place 5 stars and would give more if allowed. One thing I will point out as I know many people read these reviews because they want to know all about a place, and I see that I'm the first reviewer, is if you go in the late fall/winter make sure you have 4X4. The road up is no place for a honda or mazda. You need good old American 4 wheel drive for this short journey up the hill. During the summer you should be fine in a smaller car, but if you have a manual transmission, well if your own fault for driving a manual into mountains and a new clutch is in your near future. Deer Ridge is the best place in Gatlinburg, TN to stay. I hope you like it as much as we do. read more

I spent Christmas here with my family of 6 at the High Cotton cabin. There was plenty of room for us all, the cabin was gorgeous and well-kept, the staff was very friendly, and the view was unbelievable. About 15 minutes from downtown, it was easy to get to everything while feeling secluded and quiet. Would love to go back. read more

The resort, views, and prices were great, but the unit we stayed in was straight out of the 80s! Seriously in need of an update.

This place is beautiful. The scenery is breathtaking. We were pleased with our condo. The beds were comfortable, I felt like I was at home. The condo had a bear theme. I loved the decor. It is quite a distance from stores and other attractions. The drive up the mountain was a bit scary at first. If you are looking for a beautiful view of the smokies, this is the place for you. read more

My wife and I stayed at D104 over the weekend before Thanksgiving. We had a total of 8 people across three units, but we needed to meet in one for the full meal. Thankfully there was, much to my surprise, plenty of room for 8 adults to sit down and eat at without any problems. The kitchens cooked all of our food perfectly and we had everything we really needed - not too much and not too little. Afterwards, we hit the indoor pool and hot tub; both of which were perfect antidotes for the cold night outside as the hot tub was neither too cool or too hot and even going from the hot tub to indoor pool was extremely comfortable. We were well entertained with the cable and movie options. Movie rentals were only $1.00 each (also surprising, since most resorts offering movies would likely charge $3.99 or more each) and we very much enjoyed the high quality flat screen TV in D203 where we had our food. It was a great stay all the way around and the best sleep I've had all month. I hope we get to come back again next year and I'd recommend Deer Ridge to anyone and everyone. read more

WOW....what a view! Beautiful, serene, quiet and most importantly....CLEAN! I have two girls ages 4 and 5 and they both said "this will be the best nights of our lives". Lol. It is comparable to hotels, as far as cost, I checked. We had a pleasant experience at check in and so far, we are EXCITED with the decision to stay here! I am OCD with cleanliness....and this is clean, not as clean as my home, lol...but I am happy and so is my family! read more

Very nice condos, individually owned and managed by Deer Ridge. Very friendly staff at check-in. There is quite a winding drive up the mountain to get to the resort so I recommend automatic transmission with some serious horsepower. The view is spectacular and they have a nice big deck overlooking the mountains so you have a great place for photos. The coffee in reception was horrible so be sure you take or buy your coffee to make in the room which are equipped with coffee makers. Bottled water is sold for $1.00 and sodas are $1.25 (machines are by the pool). The kids loved the indoor pool but it smelled overly chlorinated and was very small. I stayed in one condo and my brother stayed in a separate condo and each were decorated differently, so they each have a unique style. Both were very clean and roomy (we had 2 bedroom/2 bath condos with separate living room and fully equipped kitchen.) They both had flat/large screen TV's in the living room and TV's in the bedrooms. My brother has stayed at several other places in the area and he said this place was the best. I really enjoyed it and would definitely stay there again. read more

It was just not that nice, I'd keep looking. The condo we stayed in (actually in some of the photos posted on Yelp)...... holes/soft/uneven spots in all floors, broken window locks, walls/ceiling cracked/patched/nail pops, bathroom door didn't close/lock, stains/smells on furniture, kitchen counter was not attached to cabinets (sink was plumbed, but not caulked to counter), no GCFI outlets in kitchen (less than 3 feet from sink) and many many other functional and cosmetic issues with the condo - missing hair dryer, dirty dishes put back in cabinets. I just didn't feel comfortable there and could not relax noticing all the things in plain sight not addressed, how much could you not see or didn't want to find. The views were great, pool was nice, but staff was rude and indifferent to concerns (basically, you're in the middle of nowhere - deal with what you get or go somewhere else and we'll keep your money).... overheard staff talking down to elder couple that had hard time understanding rules, check-in process, policies, etc. There is no consistency in condo quality and standard for cleanliness/functional units...... you gotta love the views to get past the quality/cleanliness issues. read more
