You know when you take a tour of someplace with the marketing director and the staff are "polite" to that person? Like this is the first time they ever spoke to them? Well my tour of Reeds Landing was genuinely nice - like the staff friends! My mom will benefit from a GP doctor having an office and staff on-site. So far, so good. They way I learned is that "Betsy" a Wellington manager went into the apartment and dug through piles of junk and papers to find the important legal documents. And that was just the beginning of her efforts which included moving, cleaning and contacting people. Who does that, based on loyalty and a dedication to the care-taking profession. I am so appreciative of the efforts of the Wellington team AFTER their tenant was gone. I know that nobody picks a retirement home based on what happens after death, but they should because that period is very stressful and time critical. As a surviving party, the support of Betsy and her staff was priceless and deserves my highest praise.

I would not recommend this facility for several reasons, one of which is based on the inability to…read morecommunicate information in a timely manner, regarding the wellbeing of family members entrusted to the care of this facility. Our family member was a resident in the memory care unit of the Wellington for a brief period of time, approximately two months, and we can only share our experiences during this time, and it may be different for other residents and their family members. Our family member had one private aide upon entering this facility, which we had to increase to three private aides to ensure their safety, proper care and assistance with daily tasks. Our family member endured repeated falls while under the care of this facility, several of which required further care and assessment at a local hospital/E.R. The initial tour presented as a positive, thriving, fulfilling environment that would promote care and comfort for residents experiencing this debilitating illness, which was not our family's shared experience. We did not witness shared programming or exercise activities in any of the community areas with residents, to promote wellness of mind or body. When our family made inquiries, requested clarification on specific situations, or requested meetings, there was consistent delayed responses that our inquiries had been forwarded to the appropriate staff, which only added to the lapse in time while waiting for responses. Each situation that came up, when inquiries were made by family members, they were responded to by either tasking us with further steps that we needed to take or accusations, but no accountability or action from the facility or offer of support for families. We understand that this disease/illness can present such varied needs, as it is as different as each individual afflicted, it is an unpredictable illness, but when your family member is having falls almost daily/weekly, or that they are consistently left in wet clothing or wet bedding, you do have questions/concerns or inquiries. We understood the needs of our family member who was a resident at this facility, which is why we also hired private aides, and did not task the facility with the full responsibility of our family member's needs, care. Again, each situation is different, needs are different, and this was our experience during this brief stay, which may not be shared by current residents and their family members. Our family member did not have a positive experience, we did not have a positive experience, while entrusting our family member to the care of the Wellington and their staff, and we feel they failed at their tasks that were presented at the onset of our initial inquiries regarding residency. We had the same expectations of this facility and staff that we demanded from ourselves, and we feel that this facility did not live up to the task, bordering on neglect. Staff was not properly trained in daily care, hygiene or cleanliness of resident and their living space. Many times our family members were tasked with the cleaning of this shared room. Staff was not properly trained in how to communicate detailed information regarding residents, how a residents overnight went, how their meals were received, did they eat, or how to communicate with the residents who were at different stages of Dementia. We received several reports of residents who were "yelled" at, not treated well, with dignity and respect that they so richly deserve. It is extremely scary to think that our elderly are treated in such a manner by others who are supposedly trained in this field, lacking compassion, respect and the elderly are completely shrugged off and set aside, sometimes pumped with a sedative recommended by staff, to keep them from displaying their own unique personality. It's sad to think that this is the way of the future regarding eldercare.

Keystone Commons is a wonderful facility for the elderly. My mom did not want to go into an…read moreassisted living center, however, she needed more care than the family could provide. We moved her there three years ago when she was 89. It changed her entire outlook on life and put a smile back on her face. She has loved every minute of it. The staff is friendly and caring, the food is great, the facility is clean and environs lovely. My mom loves it there. We are so very grateful. I could not recommend it higher.

I have consulted to this facility on a number of Resident issues for nearly 2 decades. I have always been impressed by the professionalism of staff, and the lack of Resident care issues I usually encounter relative to when I consult to skilled nursing facilities throughout the state; this is echoed from others I know who are employed by the state. From staff, I get a clear and specific reason for the referral, and upon entry to any unit, the nurses are so helpful, retrieving the chart, medication record, and are ready to answer any questions. The same is true for Rehab., Activities, and therapeutic staff. As to the Residents, they seem well taken care of, and are typically able to reveal what their life is like there, they know key staff, activities programs, and are often complimentary. Complaints are usually related to their circumstances rather than to the facility or staff, which is common to this neurobehavioral population who suffer multiple co-morbidities.
