This spot was recommended to me by someone who works in a local boutique I frequent. They've got great style, so I knew that if this is where they get their pieces tailored, then I've struck gold. This repair was done on April 2023: My favorite pair of overalls had torn right down the bum crack one day in a clumsy accident, and I just couldn't let it go, so I wanted to see if they'd be able to patch it up. I wish I could remember what I paid (I did cash), but it couldn't have been more than $20. They had a load of garments to work on, so I had to return about 5-6 days later, but I wasn't in a rush. When I did come back, it was an easy trip. I had no issues finding parking out front, and I don't recall anyone being helped before me. So I was in and out quickly. I was so pleased with the job that I decided to test another repair on a denim jacket whose leather sleeve had come apart in the armpit. I didn't have high hopes for this one, but it was as good as new when I returned the next week. Luckily, I had taken a before photo since I knew I wanted to compare the repair job to that. At some point during my drop-off, it sounded like the tag attached to my jacket didn't match the receipt slip, so the woman at the desk had to call the other person who did my repair to find out where my jacket was. I was a little concerned but so thankful I had the photo on my phone to share as a reference. That mix-up has yet to deter me, though. I ended up paying $96 for the two dresses altered, one was for the hem (to make it shorter, and the other was for the waist (make it smaller). Took a leather skirt here that needed some mending and also as a test run to see if they could be my new tailor. Did I have an old tailor? No, but I always save clothes thinking I will take them to the tailor to give them a second life, and that pile just got out of control so I finally did something about it in December. Skirt was easy enough and they did a good job. I have no idea if the price was comparable to other tailors since I've never really gone consistently to any and/or had the same item fixed elsewhere. The odds were ever in their favor for me becoming a repeat customer, though, as upon picking up the skirt, a fellow customer told me that he makes the trip monthly from San Marcos because the ladies are that good. So, armed with that and my first easy breezy skirt experience I took them a dress that honestly I thought was a goner. A Free People dress that had been purchased in the summer and then subsequently torn apart by my dog before ever having the chance to wear it (tag still on). He ripped all the small buttons out and frayed the fabric pretty bad in the front and on one sleeve. I presented them the dress, along with the sob story and waited for them to laugh me out. They didn't, but they did say that I needed to find more buttons like the ones on the dress and bring both back and they could prob make it work! Hallelujah! (The buttons were not easy to come by and when I did bring both back, they were too big!). Instead of just letting me walk away without a solution, one of the ladies inspected it thoroughly and Tim Gunned the shit out of the situation. She was like, I can take the buttons from the sleeve and put them on the front (along with the salvaged buttons the dog only mildly chewed) and just stitch up the sleeves. I was baffled at that the creativity (and sheer wizardr that would require) and even moreso when I went to pick it up that IT WORKED (see photos). I had a wearable dress that didn't look at all like it had been through war with a canine and lost. They do make you pay first (the dress was $54, I think), which was a little more worrisome for the Frankenstein job because I wasn't sure what I would get back - if anything for that price - but now I have faith that these ladies can do anything thrown at them. I never remember to do it, but they also have a 10% off check-in offer on Yelp. Moral of the story...before you throw anything out because you think it's past its expiration date or destroyed, take it here! read more

Please do not go here. I've been a repeating customer for 6 months but the past 2 visits has me shocked at how much their service & quality has tanked. It doesn't matter if you're a customer for 6 months, 6 days or 6 minutes - they treat you horribly and don't take responsibility when they make a mistake. Like many other recent reviews, they now take in way too much to the point that you can't breathe or zip up your clothes and then they blame you even though it's clear as day they took in more than they pinned. I've brought in over 20 pieces of clothes (specifically to take in) and I've never had a problem or had to ask them to fix their work, hence why I kept coming back. But I have never seen a business go downhill so fast and highly recommend not walking into their door. If you value your things and being treated with dignity and decency, do not bring your clothes or yourself here. read more

Oh these women are a godsend. I came in with an urgent bridesmaid emergency in the form of an ugly and awful fitting dress. The bridal dress shop messed my order up and sent me a size six instead of a two, one week before the wedding. They offered no help or solutions so I called around to see who could fit in a quick fix. Everything about my dress had to be fixed- the shoulders, the bust, the waist, the length, the cups. It now fits perfect. The stitch work is completely unnoticeable and natural with the dress. You can't tell it's been altered. I came here after reading many other positive Yelp reviews. They were very friendly and did an excellent job on hemming a bridesmaid dress for me. She also looked over the whole dress to make sure the rest of it fit well and reassured me in my decision that all it needed was a hem. Total cost was about $70, but it was higher due to the dress having three layers to be hemmed. They were very quick, telling me it would be ready the following week on Thursday afternoon. I did have a minor issue in that the day I came to pick it up it wasn't ready yet, but I had stopped by during my lunch break and they clarified ready in the afternoon had meant after 3 pm. I was surprised that the couple hours made a difference, so just be aware to not try to get it early, even if just a few hours! read more

I took 2 pairs of jeans here for alterations. One pair fit perfectly on the first try, and the others did not. They initially said I would need to pay again for them to fix it, but I didn't think it was worth it as the cost was getting close to the price I paid for the jeans. I told them I would just take them home, but they seemed to feel bad and lowered the price by half. I reaaaally love these jeans so I said ok, sounds good. I took my wedding dress here for alterations and they did an amazing job in a really short time frame! I had my dress hemmed (4 layers of tulle and crap!), taken in at the bodice(all lace), cups put in and a 3 point bustle and the total cost was under $350. I had 3 appointments over 2.5 weeks and on the third had to wait an extra hour for some final touches to be done on the spot so I could walk out with the dress. All the staff I dealt with were lovely and informative. They explained what they were doing and why so I was super comfortable the whole way through the process. I'm pretty happy so far. I just came here to get the knee of a pair of jeans sewed up. They had incredibly fast turnaround time, were reasonably priced, and you can hardly see the sewing or patchwork as they put it on the inside. Nice! The patch is a little bulky and may have excessive fabric, but I can't say I know much about patching to say that they did a bad job. I've got a couple more things I'd like to take to them in the future. So far, I feel like they're trustworthy. read more

This is by far the best place in Austin to take anything, ever. I took a dress here that I ordered online (the shitty "invisible zipper" broke) and she replaced it in 24 hours with no question. About $30 - totally fine with me for an instant fix. As far as quality, you cannot tell the dress was ever altered at all! Part 2 of the dress saga - I take it home & (ok so maybe it was a little tight but not that bad!) the zipper broke AGAIN. this time the party I needed it for was in less than 24 hours.... I took the dress in at 1pm on Saturday (they close at 2) and picked it up at 1:45 looking better than ever, with a bigger zipper on it (which actually ended up looking WAY cooler). They didn't even charge me for the second zipper. I'm ready for the holiday party with a dress I can try on without fear of it breaking, and have a new alterations place I will go to forever and ever and ever. read more

There were 2 other people in there, but I was still able to get someone to help me quickly. She helped me talk through what I wanted, and was very helpful. The cost was very reasonable, and it only took them a couple of days to make the alterations. When I showed up to pick up the dress, I tried it on and it wasn't exactly what I wanted so they offered to fix it on the spot. I waited about 5 minutes, and they fixed it exactly how I wanted! I've been coming to this place for a good 6 months now. I have several pants/jeans I purchase that need tailoring for height. Not only is she reasonably priced but her and her staff are incredibly friendly. I had to write this review today b/c today showed me her true generosity. In the last week I gave her 4 jeans and one pair of shorts. I came in twice and some were already done the second time I came to drop off the jeans. finally I came in today to get the rest of them, (by now she knows me) and we were chatting talking about work etc. told her I'm going to Houston to help volunteer with the hurricane disaster and she donated money to the cause. that, to me, exceeds expectations of not only a wonderful business (bc she DOES INCREDIBLE work) but as a human being.
