I was recommended Kays by my mother to do some extra work for my groom suit. If you have several hundred dollars to spare, they might help you out but they also only do cash it seems. My fiance was also looking to get some work done from here for her wedding dress, but was asked to bring half of the money without even an estimate for how much half would be. When she tried to get a little more info on cost, she was turned away. It's quite pathetic how many businesses in Wimberley just assume you're trash if you don't have a copious amount of disposable income at any given time. We had pillow shams that were in terrible shape in the back of them. They're from a king size quilt set we bought a long time ago, that came with queen size shams. I had to hand repair the backs of them for years. Finally needing to replace the quilt too, I ordered a new set from Wayfair and put it in a storage unit in the Houston area along with many new things for our new house in Wimberley. Was looking forward to new pillow shams! BUT they were king size pillow shams, after buying brand new (expensive) queen size pillows!! This quilt set wasn't available anymore! Was stuck with awful pillow shams that I continued repairing. After finding Kay's Alterations, I showed them to her and she said she could fix them. I couldn't believe how brand new they look! She finished them in ONE DAY!!! I wish I would've taken pictures of what they looked like before Kay fixed them. I want you to notice how professional they look! Look closely at the end seams! Kay is wonderful for every day clothing alterations but I do not recommend her for wedding dresses. Kay was responsive, affordable, and very experienced. She had previous experience in a bridal shop. That being said, when I returned to pick up my dress it was three inches shorter than expected and my shoe was fully visible. I believe there was a lack of communication between both of us. Kay offered to fix this but I opted to take it to a true bridal shop instead. The cost was 5x more (roughly $750 vs. Kay's $150). They were able to undo my straps, pull material inward, fix the bustle button (it was adhered to the dress wrong and my bustle would have broken the button during the reception), and they took lace from my train to cover the height differential from where too much material had been removed. I wish I could give her a rating for different types of alterations but wanted to be sure to let future brides know that the experience they seek will be at a professional alteration shop. Kay does this out of her home and you don't get the same experience you will elsewhere. read more

Was very quick on response as well as getting them done quickly it only took a few minutes to get measured and then a day to get done. Had a dress that I got at a discount with a tear in the side seams and had a favorite sweater rip in the washer machine. Took both over to her apartment, and they were done in a matter of hours.
