I have been coming to The Artful Bead ever since I discovered it about 6 or 7 years ago. I drive about an hour to get there bc customer service is BEYOND ANY OTHER PLACE I'VE EVER BEEN TO. They even help me and other customers with jewelry making inquiries such as which items are best suited for needs and they always give different price points to fit all budgets! Love love love love LOVE this place and its staff. I HIGHLY recommend them. In fact, it's the ONLY place I recommend for beads, wiring, findings, and anything jewelry making related. The handmade jewelry they have for sale is great, and they even have antique/unique jewelry pieces from around the world. read more

I loved this place years ago and still love it with its new owner and new name. It's actually called Be Made Beads. The selection of beads is huge, almost overwhelming. If you have no idea what you want to create, there are plenty stones, rocks, glass beads, and all the tools to create what ever your little heart desires. The staff will help you select stones and design your creation and then string it up for you. I have made my husband and son beautiful tigers eye and onyx bracelets that were less than $20-labor and supplies included. Today I drove from Rockwall for some clasps and rings for some of my silver pieces that needed repair. I got lucky and was able to have the repairs done on the spot, as there were no customers in the store. I love this place and will continue to come here when I want to make bracelets for gifts. read more

The Artful Bead is a hidden treasure trove of beads, gems, jewelry-making supplies and creativity. I wanted to make a tiny necklace for a flapper doll and bought everything I needed there, including the implements. The only thing I was missing was the knowledge of how to make it, so I took a private class with Mary. She was delightful! Not only did she teach me how to use the tools, she made the necklace and it perfectly matched the reference pictures I had of what I wanted. AND she suggested earrings, which she shaped and created in just a matter of minutes! It was so much fun. I've been back a few times and will return again and again. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

Total hidden jem. Hard to find store but once you find it, you'll want to come back again and again. Brought my daughter here to find beads as she recently got into making bead bracelets. They have handmade beads that you don't find elsewhere. This store is wonderfully organized and the ladies there are very friendly and the atmosphere is calming and serene. This place is A+. I have bought many beads there and always been satisfied with their quality. Plus they have great classes, and will help you personally with things like replacing clasps with magnets. But the latest thing they did I'd like to mention is to knot an amber necklace. I have a pair of earrings that needed repair, so I took them to a jewelry repair store...they were unable to help me, but suggested I take them to "the artful bead"! I didn't hold out much hope, but thought why not give it a shot...!! I found the store and they immediately said, "no problem-give us a couple of days"! This is an awesome store. I take my pearls here every couple years to get them restrung, and they always do an absolutely fantastic job. Adorable bead store that caters to the bead novices and experts alike. Everything is well laid out and they provide you with a sharpie pen and little baggies to mark your prices yourself. Most of the prices for beads are comparable to Hobby Lobby regular prices. The prices for clasps and charms can run higher.They also have classes available but I've never taken one. read more

More than a shop - it feels almost like a community center for creative types. They are helpful, have great classes, ready to answer questions. If you are in a hurry, they will help you find what you need and get on your way. Or if you want to take your time looking around, you are welcome to do that. Or just have a seat and visit a bit. Great selection of not only beads, but something for everyone's price range. I usually work only with semi-precious and precious stones and it's hard to find things locally. This store has it! The only thing critical I have to say is that if a class is going on it's a bit difficult to get help. Just a minor issue. This store is my fill in supply house between trips to the NY Bead District. read more
