Stopped in for the first time after crossing over on the ferry! I order cheeseburger deluxe and fried mushrooms. Wife ordered the Augusta melt with fries. Both were great. Served hot and quick. We got a slice Coconut Cream pie and blackberry cobbler with ice cream! The Coconut Cream Pie was honestly the best I have had in a very long time. Nice place and recommended for sure read more

We were in town for a fall festival and we stopped into the General SStore for lunch. This a real deal General Store from mismatched tables, the old plank floor to the old fashioned ice cream bar, this place is from the 1850s. The food is good and made to order, so it takes a little bit to get your food...things move at a little different pace here. I had the Southwest Burger. Crispy edges, with a great taste. For dessert, the blackberry cooler is amazing. Homemade, fresh and....well, amazing. If you're in Augusta, this is the place to eat. read more

They don't scream come in and eat but they should be saying or screaming "Get in here and eat or you will be sorry". Enjoyed their beef stew with more beef than veggies on top of thick curly noodles for lunch that was big enough to share. There was no sharing of pie slices and sadly they were out of strawberry rhubarb Luckily the custard was my 2nd choice. Pet peeve is when the pie board is not current, nothing is better than pie and theirs is excellent as are the cookies. Don't be sorry you missed this river side general store that locals refer to as their Cracker B (I can't type that word)...Come in and eat This is by far this place is out of their league sitting on the quaint KY side of the Ohio River near the random river tug boat ferry. The staff was super nice and the place was crazy busy with there being a prom, a junk sale AND a cruise in all happening on the same day. The milk shakes that my hubby and I ordered were tasty. We will be back to eat, if we are back in the area with some time to kill. read more

This is an old school half antique store and half restaurant in middle of Augusta. They have country cooking on their menu ala Cracker Barrell. I tried out the Country Fried Steak, with some mashed potatoes, corn, and a dinner roll. The meat of it was juicy and delicious and their white gravy is on point. Great peppery flavour. The mashed potatoes were also good thanks to the same gravy. The corn was well corn. The dinner roll was on the small side but had great flavour (awesome with honey!) It took a good minute for them to prepare our food and waitress was on the indifferent side but the food did make up for it. A great touristy place to get some comfort food and shop afterwards. Stopped in with my wife on Sunday around lunch time. The place was busy but we were able to secure a table quickly. Servers were friendly and helpful while working hard to take on the crowd. Receiving our order was a bit slow, and by noon they were already out of the ham and grilled pork chop specials which I thought a bit of a surprise. The roast beef I went with was tasty and tender, my green beans were fine, but the corn pudding was a bit soupy and on the cold side. The biscuit was excellent. Portions are large and pricing is on the low side. Our overall experience was good, and we will stop back next time in town. read more

We waited over an hour for our food. It came out without my fries, my kids didn't even get their food. I couldn't finish my burger it made me nauseous. My husband said his food was average. 1000% do not recommend. We stopped for a Sunday lunch and I ended up having the best turkey and dressing I have ever had! And it came with two sides as well for only $8.50. Turkey was juicy and flavorful. A beautiful day for a "Sunday drive" provided a great excuse to take the Anderson Ferry across the river into Kentucky and enjoy the scenic byway to Augusta. We arrived in Augusta at dinner time and scoped out the main street for casual eateries, choosing the General Store for it's old time, historic ambiance. Our server, Annie was warm and welcoming and very accommodating, helping us to build a terrific low carb meal from their menu of homestyle comfort foods. Noteworthy was the cod which was dusted with cornmeal and fried, and the considerable number of sides offered with meals. Choices included corn, green beans, brussel sprouts, mac n cheese, tossed salad and real mashed potatoes to name a few. Although the store, which is a real old time general store with numerous knick knack items for sale in the basement, was empty when we arrived, most of the 8 or so tables were soon occupied by families with young children. The food is good comfort food offered at reasonable prices. Breakfast is served all day. Pies, YUMMM, are homemade and they are open from 6am-8pm. read more
