We had the worst experience. They kept telling us our food would come out and it did not. They hadn't even started cooking our appetizers after 1 hour and 30 Minutes....... Appetizers. The server kept a saying your food will be right out. It was a lie. I ended up asking for a refund. They hadn't even started our order. I got a refund but our friends had a much worse experience. They got half of their order, and when they asked for a refund they were denied. They didn't get their order, the manager yelled at my friend for getting annoyed about not getting the food instead of getting his obese butt behind the fryer and helping the cook. This is a classic pub. A nice little bar with a fireplace. The outdoor space begs for warmer weather. We sat at the bar for lunch. The bartender was lovely. She shared several items on the menu that were her favorites. We settled on a few sharable items. I have to start with the onion rings. They were the best I have ever had. They were crispy and delish. We also tried the sauerkraut balls. They were crisp and tasty. Something I had never tried before. The fish nuggets, I can't remember the name from the menu, were yummy. I ate there yesterday and I will return! Service was great. One of their signs read something to the effect of "not the place to be if you're in a hurry". . I was actually in a slight hurry since I was trying to get back to another local business before it closed, I didn't let it be known, but service was timely. Soup of the day (Stuffed pepper? - "Nick Clooney's favorite") sounded weird but intriguing. It was delicious. Heed the sign as you walk in the door - "This isn't the place for you if you're in a hurry". They're not lying! Sat for 15min before my husband went to get a menu. Servers were very nice once they showed up to our table. We ordered food & drinks at the same time. It took over an hour to get a Philly Cheesesteak & Fish & Chips (which were obviously frozen). The food was only average and it took so long we had to get most of it to go so we wouldn't miss the last ferry. The worst was the table full of extremely loud, foul-mouthed people seated right next to us. We were seated outside on the patio so their foul mouths were heard by everyone on the street as well as running people off who hadn't ordered, yet. We won't be returning. read more

Stopped by the Augusta Pub after a visit to nearby Baker-Bird Winery on fall Saturday late afternoon. We were greeted and seated right away. We started with appetizer of the Pub Fries and Saratoga chips and then reviewed the menu ended up going with black & blue burger and rueben. The fries were hot right out of the oven and enjoyed the seasoning, delicious! When our main dish came out the rueben looked amazing, definitely worth the trip for the rueben, the burger was okay, had better at other pubs across the region. I ordered a black and blue hamburger. I had three people taste it, one does not like blue cheese and he stated "that's not blue cheese". The hamburger meat was good. The service wasn't great. I asked for mayo, didn't get it. My friends waited forever for their beer. When the bar tender came to deliver their beer we finally got the mayo after half his sandwich was gone. When asking the waitress about the blue cheese she got a little snarky. We won't be back. read more

Been here several times and had no issues, the two times we went this year, it has gone down hill big time. The first time the food was very slow coming out and was on the bland side. But they were busy. The next time we stopped there wasn't ten people. We sat outside and waited over an hour for our food. When I went in to ask our waitress was braiding another waitress hair! When I asked if our food was ready she went to the bar and asked a woman who was sitting there by herself drinking. She said yes it was ready. Don't know if she was the cook or manger. I want to love the Pub, I really do, but there are just too many things getting in the way.... First, sometimes it is called Augusta Pub, others Augusta Pub on the River (it's not on the river), or the Augusta Irish Pub. It is also not the latter...not shepherd's pie or Guiness or Smithwicks to be found, but I guess a couple of tiny Irish saying signs at the entrance qualifies? The vibe is nice...wood decor, interesting layout, plenty of space. Outdoor patio. The food is pretty tasty. I've had sandwiches and quesadillas there, my wife likes the burgers. Draught beer selection is a bit weak. The best beers are Fat Tire and Yuengling. I like both, but there are some really great local breweries in KY that would be ideal for the Pub. Braxton, Alexandria, Country Boys, plenty of others. There is a full bar. Service is...baaaaad. Not from a friendliness perspective as the staff are nice folks...well there was the one time we walked in, went to the bar for a beer, sat there for ten minutes to be ignored by the manager who saw us, made eye contact more than once, but left us hanging (and we left). Last time in about half the tables were occupied, but every single one needed bussed. I actually got a towel and wiped down the bar so that our small group had a clean place to eat (and saw a staffer sitting on a stool by the bar letting me do her work). This isn't the first, or second, or even third time I've been in and the place was half full but looked like a tornado. Service is really slow. It is almost like they haven't figured out how to get food rolling out from the kitchen. Perhaps too many options on the menu (and there are tons). Simplify, it will make production more efficient. Beer is always cold, which is a plus, and the price point is pretty good. Staff up, train the managers how to really be efficient, keep it clean, simplify, and you'll enjoy more profits! read more

Tried this place out on a work trip, and it didn't disappoint. They seemed busier than usual on a Tuesday night and only had one person working. Shawn was super nice and kept apologizing for the wait, but he made sure everyone was taken care of. We were in no rush so we just enjoyed our beer. The food was delicious, and I loved the small town vibe of the place. We had such a great experience that we came back Thursday night too. The food was really delicious. The bread on the bread and cheese plate was amazing, cheese was a bit excessive given the amount of bread provided. My club sandwich was delicious but disappointingly TINY...seriously...2-3 slices of each type of meat and maybe 2-3 slices of bacon. My wife's chicken salad sandwich was delicious, homemade, and huge. For some reason, our two sandwiches took the better part of 45-60 minutes to arrive at our table with maybe 10-15 total people in the restaurant. Came here on a Friday night and they were not very busy. Once seated it took forever to get someone to take our order. The cheese curd and sauerkraut ball appetizers were very good. The burgers were ok but they are not fresh hand pattied burgers. They had good music playing and the pool tables were nice to play while waiting on our food. Prices are reasonable. All the reviews about 'greasy fries' on Google are BS!! We had the fries - DELIGHTFUL! Hot and scrumptious. We also had the sauerkraut balls. They were REALLY tasty. I eat pretty clean, and I must say that this place serves the BEST fried food around. Service? Let me say that if you are an egomaniac, you might put your ego in your pocket. The servers here are genuine, hard working people who actually connect with customers. Watch them work. It's amazing what they can do in an hour. We are not local. Not going to matter tomorrow. This was our destination for lunch after a long mride down from Dayton, Ohio. Nice enough little irish pub with a good sized patio area on the side. They seemed a little puzzled at how to handle a decent sized group (about 14 of us). The service was slow slow slow! and they seemed to be pretty unorganized and didn't quite know who was doing what. The one waitress took part of our groups order (one table) and they had their food and had finished eating by the time we had even placed our orders. In general the food seemed to be pretty good, I wasn't overly impressed with the fish sandwich, pretty mediocre especially for an irish pub. Took over an hour to get our food, way too long even for a big group. They were nice enough and the wait staff did what they could, but it seems like management / owners need to take a look at how to handle groups in a more efficient manner. read more

I have tried this pub for the 3rd and last time. The first time, we paid for our iced tea and left because the wait for the food was Ridiculous. The next time, was the same. The servers were rushing in and out to the patio and no one seemed to be working the inside tables. Took forever to get a sparce and cold dinner. On sunday, we tried again. Another disappointment. They seem to keep the patio satisfied with drinks from the bustling bar but, food service is terrible. Not impressed with 'pub ' food. I've seen better fish sandwich come from a drive thru window. It was litteraly,fish sticks, a slice of cheap processed cheese on a stale bun. The prices were ridiculous for what they were serving. Its not representing the historic town of Augusta with pride. We stopped in here on a very busy Saturday afternoon. The place was busy, but there were some empty tables inside. Unfortunately, we had the same experience as several others on here. We sat for 10 minutes at a dirty table with no server in sight. Finally a waiter stopped at the table in front of us to get their money and I heard him say that there were only 4 of them there today and 2 of them were responsible for cooking as well. Why would you staff only 4 servers when Art in the Park is going on and you know there will be hundreds of people in town? This waiter then proceeded to walk away without even acknowledging us or our dirty table and by the time we left 5 minutes later he still was not back with their check and cards. We walked in and grabbed a menu while the workers watched us, waited fifteen minutes while they talked without anybody coming to check on us. I called to place an order from inside the restaurant where the worker could hear the loud music in the background and hear me from the next room. I told them we were eating there and was given 25 minutes for just us and one other table to cook the food. When I went up there, our food HAD been done. It was then brought out in to go boxes. I asked for them to be placed in the baskets like any other customer dining in. Once we began to eat, one of the burgers had a piece of hair in it. When I went to pay and told the same girl about it she just sat quiet. I proceeded to pay for said burger with the piece of hair. The girl followed me when I got the food with our drinks. During this time, the person with us ordered a meal. She was not brought her meal until I went to pay and the girl went into the kitchen and handed it to her when she tried to see if her food was done. The wait time for food is always long even if they're not busy, the service sucks, and sometimes they'll let the phones just ring. The building is nasty and looks like they can't even spot clean. Beer bottles behind different items, press on nails on the floor, plenty of dirt from neglect of sweeping, and the list goes on. read more

We were in town to celebrate a birthday. The pub was packed. Short story.... It was cold inside... Took over an hour to get our food.... Took over an hour to get our drinks... Appetizer never came...ice tea wasn't good The good... We weren't in a hurry... Food was good (burgers)... Coffee was good... Plenty of time to talk... Drinks were free... You will be surprised to find such an upscale pub like this in a quaint little river town. It is definitely worth the stop. Try the Kentucky Bourbon Ale on tap. Most wonderful people work there. Tara the manager is wonderful, Chuck will teach ya the ring on hook game. Jessica, Chelsey, Sue and Danny make up the crew and they are the best. Great menu selection from Steak to burgers and a wonderful patio for those warm summer nights. I found this place by chance and have been back a few times since. If you just want to drink, the Pub is fine. If you look rich or important, the Pub is fine. Otherwise, don't bother.

Good place to eat and drink. Food is tasty and a good value, but it is a little slow so not a place to go if you are short on time. Great place for a relaxing weekend lunch, dinner, or happy hour. read more
