We walked in and immediately grabbed a table. After sitting there for about 10 minutes without zero service, my husband walked to the bar to order 2 Guinness's and grab some menus. The bartender watched where we sat so we assumed (wrongly) that he would stop over to grab our food order. 20 minutes passed. The bar crowd died down. Still no service. We left. The only reason why I'm giving 2 stars is because the Guinness tasted fresh. Otherwise 0 stars. Horrible service... well, no service at all. Went around the corner to the Old Storehouse. A bit less touristy than the Temple Bar across the road but more or less the same thing. It's not uncommon for revelers to carry their pints from one to the other without too much hassle. Don't expect to find many actual Dubs in here, and there are far superior pints to be had elsewhere. I would like to cite Keoghs, Anseo and Brogans in this regard, to name but a few. read more

Went looking for traditional Irish music and good food for lunch. Got neither. The stars are for the decor - very old but well maintained beautiful bar! The server was sweet but busy. The musician played a few Irish folk songs but just as many American and none uplifting. The food was downright awful. I hadn't eaten in over 24 hours so a shoe would have tasted delicious to me but UGH! I ate half and left the rest. Unfortunately we wasted a full hour and 15 mins of our precious time here. Very slow food prep! Perhaps this is a fun night atmosphere but steer clear at lunch! read more

Very unpleasant experience at this place, i just got demanded for change by the homeless couple while standing outside the bar, when i refused for the change the woman punched me on my face and security was standing there watching their customer getting punched When i asked them why didnt you told them to walk away, they replied we are not your private security, i mean what the fuck !! guys drinks are on outrages prices, i personally recommend not to waste your time going there and wasting your money. read more

Avoid this tourist trap like the plague. Between the over-priced beers, the singer banging out Bon Jovi songs on his acoustic guitar, and the weirdly hostile bouncers, this place epitomizes everything you'd expect from a bar that expects no repeat business. I went for a pint here last week and asked how much a Guinness was, the Barman told me €6.50. So I said to my friends we should go somewhere else. On hearing this, the Barman immediately reduced the price to €4.80. Has anyone else experienced this? Sums up how much the pubs in Temple Bar rip people off. A great pub in the Temple Bar area. Like all the other places I went in Ireland on this trip, I ordered chicken wings. Like all the other places I had chicken wings in Ireland, they were surprisingly good! My wife and I came here for the live music. They had a guy playing some good old Irish songs but after a while he switched to American music in an Irish style and we left. Before that happened, the music was great, and the food was above my expectations. I came here years ago on my first trip to Ireland and I'll come here again on my next trip! Nice staff, good selection of drinks, plenty of space inside and live music. Some notes on the wings, since I ended up getting so many wings this trip: sauce was good, the dressing for dipping was good, and they were cooked well. The portion size was good but the wings themselves were a bit small. Not a big deal, there were enough of them in the basket anyway. Overall, I easily approve of these wings. read more

Dropped in one night after a horribly disappointing dinner (see my review for The Shack). The upper level wasn't crowded at all. We easily found a table and I happily ordered a toasted sandwich and a pint of Guinness. The sandwich hit the spot. Service was a bit sketchy - I wasn't sure if I should go to the bar to order, but there did appear to be one waiter who eventually came to get my order. He never did return to give me the check, so I just left enough money on the table and we moved on. There was live music downstairs, but I liked the more laid-back atmosphere upstairs. read more

great spot to be during the weekend. the bar is lively and plays great music, and clear of the clubbing atmosphere. i love the big wood bar, and the wooden tables with the high wooden stools. we were there on a friday night, and there were loads of hen, stag, and birthday parties in the bar. each of these parties were dressed up in great group themed costumes; stag party: superheroes, hen party: sexy sailor girls, birthday party: girl scouts. their presence added a fun element to the night. sit by the window and people watch. you'll get great views of the beauties and lushes roaming through temple bar. read more

This place is a pretty iconic little bar in Temple Bar. It seemed pretty touristy and I'm sure they jack up the prices a bit, but I had a good time here regardless. The stews were decent and I was hungry so that helped! The funny thing is that the place was only a little busy when we entered and decided to go to the quieter upstairs bar, but by the time we came back downstairs a couple hours later (and a few beers later) the place was slammed packed with people singing along and dancing to the musician--that was playing what I think was a mix of Irish drinking music and cover songs. A lot of the patrons seemed to be locals and knew all the words to the Irish songs that were being played. Which, I thought was interesting! Usually locals stay away from tourist places, but here it was like they all moved in and took over at some point in the evening! I think that maybe the locals come here to see the bands and us tourists (mistakenly) come for the food and drinks. LOL! read more

They wouldn't serve me because I made the mistake of tipping them, and then they called me out in front of the whole bar for me asking for a drink when I hadn't been served for over half an hour... very disgraceful and unprofessional, American tourists HIGHLY suggested, stay away from this bar. They won't serve you because your American, so many better bars in the area. Please don't go here if you are American, you will be made fun of and disrespected for trying to have a good time. Such a horrible experience I'm leaving Ireland a week short. read more

Just arrived from france, first night in Dublin, stopped by The Auld Dubliner because of the music, found a spot on the outside, ordered drinks, spoke with australian, irish, french, a lot of fun, The guitar player/singer was awsome with a really good playlist. The pub was crowded, and getting the drinks was a quest for an experienced adventurer but worth it. Guinness, Blumers and a really nice night there, i'll go back for sure ! read more

The Auld Dubliner packs 'em in early. They have live music acts as early as 1PM. The first time I went around noon ordered lunch, a terrifically huge plate of bangers and mash. I finished my lunch, ordered my second pint and was amazed to see the place start to fill up to capacity. It's a fun pub, pretty touristy, but then again, so is just about every other joint in Temple Bar. read more

A very very tiny pub in the middle of temple bar. Nonetheless this place is always packed to the rafters & the craic is always great. There is a buzz about the place and the crowds spill out onto the street. It is a nice lively feel good place to be. Stop here during your pub crawl as this is a good stop for the night. Easily located and visibly known on the street. They pack the people in here but I had a great time. There are nooks and crannies in the place to fit your crawl group. There was a live musician mixing up covers and Irish music. Also, a great time to people watch and meet people from different countries. Funny thing is met 4 Bostonians here, so small world! read more

Ended up here quite a few nights while in Dublin. This bar is centrally located within the Temple District. Locals, tourists, you can have it all! The music was great and we always managed to find a seat (upstairs that is!!). The downstairs gets quite crazy especially around midnight. Head up for a "more" spacious area. The bouncers are strict only if you're acting douche-y. So cut the crap please. Oh, and use the well maintained bathrooms on the third floor. read more
