It is allegedly, along with two other pubs, the oldest pub in Sydney but I guess that's up to what criteria you decide to use. Note that it's a bit of a climb up from the main Circular Quay area, especially if you take the shortcuts. Regardless, once you arrive, it's easy to see that this is a popular location. It's called a hotel because years ago, any establishment serving alcohol also had to provide lodging - so there you have it. The pub itself is old and smelly (probably why all the windows are open), with a unique two level bar structure. There was live music on a Saturday night and plentiful picnic tables along both sides of the building. Theres hardly a wait at the bar for a drink and they many selections on tap and by the bottle. You can also order drinks and food from a QR code at the table - which we ended up doing for some quick bites. Coat of Arms Pizza - half emu and half kangaroo and it was pretty good (keep in mind using pub food standards). The tomato sauce had a bit of a sweet flavor to it and the meat (lean, as expected) had good flavor. The pizza dough is the soft chewy variety that reminded me of what happens when you microwave leftover pizza. Crunchy Fries - wide cut and comes with tartar and ketchup. Easy to munch down and goes well with beer. Lastly, the male bathroom was quite disgusting and difficult to breathe in. And it wasn't even dark outside yet so who knows how often then clean or if it even gets worse has the crowds get more raucous. That's all...

Find the hidden rooftop. Crazy stairs but worth it. See Ema at the bar. Tell her I sent you and ask for a Tequila EmaRise. You won't be disappointed! And kangaroo on pizza, brilliant!

Like everybody else, I came here for the aptly named Coat of Arms pizza. It is a half-and-half pizza with emu meat on one side (with tomatoes) and kangaroo meat on the other side (with red bell peppers). I had to make this my first meal in Sydney on this trip, and here is why. The symbol on the national coat of arms of Australia is the picture of a kangaroo and an emu. Both animals are native to Australia, and neither animal can move backwards. So, legend has it that the symbol on the coat of arms was intended to represent a nation that is always moving forward. The pizza was very tasty, but the two meats were almost indistinguishable. My taste buds couldn't really discern the difference. This was probably because both meats were seasoned and cooked the same way, and had the same sauce drizzled on top, which might have masked the flavors of both meats. Service is very cordial and the atmosphere is relaxed. They also have a saltwater crocodile pizza for those who are particularly adventurous.

Visited this pub while on our honeymoon in Sydney. Ordered the Tasmanian honey & chilli soy chicken wings and Coat of Arms Pizza. Our first time trying emu & kangaroo. Food was fast and tasty.

The Australian Heritage Hotel quickly became one of our favorite pubs and we visited this place multiple times during our stay! The highlight is the Coat of Arms pizza which consists of half emu and half kangaroo with roasted tomatoes and charred peppers topped off with lemon mayo. My mouth is watering just thinking about this pie!

Stopping here based on Yelp reviews and recommendations from some locals. It was pretty quiet on the night we were there. We tried the Coat of Arms Pizza and enjoyed it! Also tried a few different Australian beers, loved the variety available! Bartenders were great! Only disappointment was the rooftop. It doesn't really have a view of the harbour, but we would still recommend trying this place if you are in Sydney!

This Hotel features a pub/restaurant and it was awesome. It was located in the same block at YHA so easy to get to, bartenders were awesome, food came out in a timely manner. I enjoyed a beer from NSW while I waited for my food. Do yourself a favor and stop in to "The Aussie" at The Australian Heritage Hotel on Cumberland St in The Rocks...

I so thoroughly enjoyed my emu and kangaroo pizza! The emu tasted like it had been marinated in wine and the kangaroo was a great mix of tasty game and beef. The salad was also yummy and filled w veggies, edamame, and just the right amount of creamy dressing. Local beer and ciders paired well.

Great Australian themed pub only stocking Australian beers. Great pub meals, Aussie music and worth a visit if walking over the Sydney Harbour bridge and ideal for a beer after the walk.

I was visiting Sydney staying with sister and brother in law, my brother in law and his friends whom I know invited me out one night and we visited your bar/restaurant on July 8th, 2016. The place is old and rustic, very nice location and we had lots of fun. The beers on draft were great, I really enjoyed the fact you have a selection of IPAs and generally dark beers. The food was good, not the greatest but good enough for a fun night with guys. was not a fan of the nachos (leave the nachos for us USA south-westerners) but fell in love with the kangaroo pizza and emu pizza. The duck pizzas however was too greasy and smelled too, never had dick pizzas so can't say it should or shouldn't smell. Would definitely recommend the place and come back when in Sydney again.

Quick trivia - The Australian Coat of Arms has a kangaroo and an emu on it. These two animals were chosen because it is said that they cannot move backwards, only forward - which symbolizes progress. (But if you're Aussie, I'm sure you already know this, in which case, just bear with me) The Australian Heritage Hotel has something called, 'the coat of arms' pizza. So does anyone know why it's called that? You guessed it! It is topped with kangaroo and emu! (half emu & half pepper Kangaroo with red onion, bush tomato, capsicum & cranberries). This was my first time trying kangaroo or emu so I really have nothing to compare it to. It didn't really taste like any other meats I've had. It actually didn't really taste like anything - except for the sauce that they put on it, which just tasted really tart. I wasn't a fan. I wish I was able to taste more of the flavor of the kangaroo and emu. We also had the roast Peking duck pizza (mushroom, red onion, spinach, shallots, toasted sesame seeds, plum Hoi Sin sauce). They didn't skimp out on the duck slices, but they did overdo it on the hoisin sauce. The pizza was good but just a tad too salty from all that sauce. Last but not least, we also had the Mediterranean pizza (pesto & tomato sauce, garlic chicken, kalamata olives, spanish onion, roasted eggplant & mozzarella). This was pretty good too. You know how chicken on pizza is usually dry? This one wasn't. It seems like their other pizzas would be pretty good. just as long as you avoid the unconventional meats. Tip - they accept ressos on their website. My friends and I came in on a Monday at around 7:30 and it wasn't too packed. But I'm not sure how long the wait is for other nights.

    Saltwater crocodile pizza (~$19)
    Connie H.

Honestly, I came here only to try the saltwater crocodile pizza! PIZZA - The crocodile didn't taste as bold as I thought it would, which probably was due to the Thai herbs and coconut cream present. Good, but next time I would go for something cheesier! If you don't want crocodile, there are other meaty pizzas such as: coat of arms (emu, kangaroo), pepper kangaroo, peking duck, and lamb. DRINKS - There are plenty of beer options! There will even be a recommendation for each of the pizzas too. A chill pub spot overall.

    Pumpkin pizza

Ladies- looking to meet a cute Aussie? Then head over here after work or on the weekend as it is right across the street from the KGV Recreation Centre and there are plenty of post-workout men having beers with their buddies after playing basketball or working out. There are tons of beers -I mean tons and my husband (yep- I was not here for the hunky Aussies) got to drink some harder to find ones such as Schraers which he enjoyed. There is a lively crowd outside and live music. We had pumpkin topped pizza which was a little salty and the crust was so-so. Food I give a 3 - but adventurous eaters can try kangaroo or emu. The 4 star is for the the fun vibe and cute locals- gals included.

Take the elevator to the fourth floor as if you're going to Novotel. Walk through the parking garage until you hit Murray St. and the hotel will be across the street from you. After you've checked in you can go back through the fourth floor of the parking garage to the walking bridge that will take you to the harbour and shops. You can walk all over town from this central location... across the Pyrmont Bridge, over to Chinatown, a relatively short walk to Circular Quay... it's really a great location. Swag and free stuff: Amazing! When you book on their website you get free happy hour at their bar, everything in the mini bar is free, free breakfast, free loot bag of snacks, free tote bag to swing around town or load up a few extra gifts for home. Lots of goodies! Attention to detail: Never better! From the spare toilet paper that reads "who gives a crap" to the frame hanging in the lobby for people to take selfies with, this place is fun and interesting. I found myself wanting to explore the hotel as much as I wanted to explore Sydney. Food: Nice spread! They had a really nice continental breakfast spread in the morning... lots of fruits, breads and pastries, cereal, hard boiled eggs, a variety of juices, and a coffee machine. I think there would be something there for everyone but if that didn't suit your fancy you could also pay for other breakfast options from the kitchen or coffee bar. Literally the only downside I came across was that the walls were thin so I could hear a lot of noises from the hallway and laundry room. So pack some ear plugs!

VERY DISAPPOINTING STAY- NOT THE FOUR SEASON STANDARD…read more This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I've experienced, especially for a brand like Four Seasons that is supposed to represent luxury and impeccable service. We were suspicious upon first arrival when reception appeared overwhelmed and not able or willing to accommodate our requests. I must give a shout out to Lorenzo who did meet our expectations when we were able to enlist his assistance. The hotel felt understaffed, which affected every aspect of the stay. The accommodations were underwhelming, with rooms that were small , particularly for room class designations ,and far below expectations for price point. Food and beverage service was particularly poor. Simple details that should be effortless at this level--like providing decent coffee in the lobby--were completely botched: no cream and poorly brewed coffee. The maitre d for breakfast service was particularly rude and appeared bothered. Wait staff appeared confused and not understanding what we needed. We felt like an inconvenience, perhaps because we did not order the self serve buffet and required a simple breakfast? Overall, this hotel failed to deliver on the most basic elements of hospitality, let alone luxury. The Four Seasons name sets a high bar and while I had high expectations, this property fell short in multiple areas. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as significant improvements are needed to meet brand standards.
