Drove in yesterday morning (9-29-2025) to have an issue with a leak in the rear differential checked after having it serviced twice at another shop. Turned out that one of the plugs wasn't tightened thoroughly. Fully tightening it stopped the drip. Very reasonably priced and the personnel are friendly and knowledgeable. Visiting National Parks in Utah and my a/c was blowing cool, but not cold. Went to Napa and picked up some freon. I ended up over charging the system a and the ac started blowing hot. We were traveling from Page AZ back to Kansas City. So we started calling auto repair shops in Albuquerque from the road 3 hours away. We called two highly rated shops and explained our situation. They both told us they couldn't get us in till next week. So we tried The Auto Clinic. Jim answered the phone and I told him our situation. He told me he could get it re-charge and would would squeeze us in when we got there. He also quoted me the price right over the phone. When we arrived Rene gave me time to get my family something to eat before they took the car to do the repair. They got the ac cooling again. They also explained that the system had an obstruction and was in need of a repair. I opted to wait on that repair for the sake of time, but Rene still took me back to the garage and asked her mechanic to show me exactly where the part was that needed replaced. They noticed my engine light on, pulled codes and went over them with me, and wrote them on the invoice so I could arrange for repairs locally. We made it home and ac worked great. These were the sweetest people and had the heart to help us when other shops couldn't. read more

Based on my RECENT EXPERIENCE, these dorks claim to do the work on your vehicle and actually do nothing. My elderly parent gave them some business. The final expenses were much more higher than that which was originally quoted!!! "Finding things" that are supposedly wrong with vehicle resulting in a higher bill. Oldest trick in the book for bootleg mechanics! They engage in bait and switch. Never pay them cash or use a debit card! Credit card only for your own protection! Had to do a chargeback and threaten litigation just to make them come correct! Here's the kicker...tranny still had the same problems with the engine light coming on and poor performance in shifts and rpm's. Took the truck to the dealer not even a half a year later using CarShield and they took that tranny out and found gobs of sludge and pieces of metal. I THOUGHT THE FIRST THING THAT THE AUTO CLINIC DID WAS CLEAN THE TRANNY OUT!!! I have pictures as proof. I should get them from car shield so I can post them. I brought my 1974 Corvette to them for a manual transmission rebuild and engine oil leak evaluation as they claim to be experts on this make and model. I was quoted $1900 to rebuild the transmission and $105.00 labor per hour to detect the engine oil leak issue. They had the car for three weeks. They determined that I had broken parts in the transmission, rear main oil seal leaking, oil pan leaking and timing cover leaking and my crank shaft may be damaged. My bill at this point was now $2500. I told them to stop looking for and repairing the oil leaks as I had decided to remove the engine myself. They did not listen to me! the mechanic replaced the bad rear mail seal on a motor that was bad. After the transmission was rebuilt they had issues ordering the correct new clutch set-up and charged me for multiple parts orders. While they were working on the transmission and ordering parts, I removed the car on a the trailer so I could install a new engine and would bring it back when the transmission was ready to be re-installed in the car. The mechanic had issues putting the transmission back into the car and I was told "he forgot where some of the parts went to bolt it up" I watched the mechanic fumble around with my car as he remover the distributor so he could get a better angle on the motor - transmission and couldn't get it back into place. I was then told "your distributor is bad" on a brand new motor straight from BluePrint Engines. The mechanic also thought it was a good idea the use my carburetor secondary as a tool holder for his screwdrivers! In my frustration I asked the so called ASE Certified Mechanic if he new what he was doing as he re-installed the shifting arms back words and couldn't get the car to shift correctly. His sarcastic reply was to ask me if "I was a mechanic". Some five hours later they finished with the car. My final bill was $3800. When I disputed it I was told if I didn't pay they would put a lien on the car and it would stay with them until the bill was paid. I had no choice. This business is dishonest! I question the quality of the staff. Do not bring your car there. read more

I have to be honest I have my share of ups and downs with automotive repair shops in Albuquerque, but The Auto Clinic is one the first ones that I can honestly recommend. I was having a problem with leaks on my 2006 Jeep commander I took it to a repair shop on the corner of Menaul and Morris. They charged 240.00 for transmission service, replace fluid and filter and said that was my problem with the leaks. Next day still leaking took it back they kept it all day and told me it was fixed. That was not true it was still leaking. Next, took it to South valley spent 300.00 and still not fixed. Finally, before going to the Dealership I decided to try The Auto Clinic and they actually solved the problem. read more

This place was horrible. My car was driving funny so I took it in to see if they could help figure out what the problem was. They told me the clutch had gone out.. Didn't make sense, but they are a transmission shop after all. Paid $700, got it replaced, and the problem started occurring again on the way home! Called the shop and they were no help saying that they replaced the clutch and I was experiencing a different problem now. Based upon my prior intuition, I replaced the spark plugs and cables. This fixed the problem! Six months later, the transmission would no longer go into first gear and started leaking to the point the transmission needed to be rebuilt. The transmission rebuild cost nearly as much as the car was worth. Related to dropping the transmission and not placing back correctly? Hmmmm. I think so. To summarize. I paid $700 for a clutch that I didn't need based upon their recommendation. My whole transmission gave out six months later, possibly caused by dropping the transmission without reason. Bottom line. Stay away. Yes, I should have got a second opinion but I (wrongfully) assumed a shop called The "Auto Clinic & Transmissions" would be able to diagnose a clutch problem correctly, be somewhat honest, and place the transmission back in the car correctly. Had a transmission replaced in a truck. Have had problems with leaks since and they are refusing to fix them. Go somewhere else!

This place was totally wrong. I took my vehicle to them because my gears were shifting harsh, and thought my transmission needed servicing. I was told I had a leak at rear of transmission to transfer case (although I never saw spots of leaking in my driveway or anywhere else I parked). They wanted to charge me $600 to reseal the transfer case, and then they told me that if this didn't help the harsh shifting I would have to have my transmission rebuilt for $2400. I didn't have the work done, and took it else where for a second opinion. I'm glad I did. Turns out there was never a leak, but it was two and one half quarts low on transmission fluid. Now I have to wonder if it wasn't leaked out on purpose so I would have to have the work they recommended done. All my vehicle needed was to have the transmission module recalibrated and of course transmission fluid added. I will never refer anyone to the Auto Clinic, they are not to be trusted. read more
