I had a pleasant experienced working with The Auto Mart in San Diego. We purchased a car for my daughter from here and I feel like we got a really good deal on the car. I was glad i found the place, because the car we purchased was $1,000 less then what I had found at other places, and that was a really great savings. I also have to comment about the customer service. Tom, the manager is a really friendly person who is easy to talk too. He inst one of those high pressure salesmen, it seemed like Tom, wanted us to find a car that we liked rather than pressuring us into purchasing something right away. Tom, also allowed us to go on some test drives with the vehicles we liked, and he had a lot of know how when it came to financing the vehicle. Although, they do not do in-house financing he was able to point us in the direction of a company that would help us to get a loan on the car. In essence, I'm very happy with The Auto Mart. I bought my car from here. Tom (the manager) is a really nice guy and wasn't pushy at all! He was very easy to talk to and gave us a fair price. In fact after I had already purchased the car I realized that it didn't have a spare tire in trunk and Tom was kind enough to find an extra one for me! A few weeks later I had an issue with the car I purchased. It didn't start and I was soooo sad, but automart was AMAZING. I'm sure most places would have said "you're on your own," but I called Tom and he quickly called the owner, Tony, who called me and told me he'd be at my apartment within the hour. It didn't even take that long! They were there in 30 minutes...and I live in La Jolla! Tony showed up with a mechanic and they inspected the car and offered to tow it and have it fixed for no charge! Tom, Tony and the mechanic Lupe(?) were SOOOO nice and professional and put all my concerns to rest. My car is great now and I would ABSOLUTELY recommend coming here to buy your used car. read more

I bought a used car from Auto Mart about a month ago, they sold me a great car and at a reasonable price. I shopped around and some used car dealers had ridiculous prices for crappy cars, I was considering buying private until I found this place. They were very friendly and not pushy at all during the buying process, and they did all of the paperwork at the DMV for me. Also one positive for me was that they had charged me for the registration but then forgot to pay it when they transferred the car over to me, so they had sent me a letter and a check in the mail. I bought my car here and I found the guys to be honest, calm and normal -- a hard combination to find these days. There was no hard sell or weirdness. Tom seems like a nice guy and was a straight shooter. Just to note: Despite what it says in the review by Chrissy N, all their cars are sold As-Is, which means no warranty, so don't expect to be able to bring it back for repairs later if it breaks down. I had the car I was interested in checked out at a local garage for $99 before I bought it. It's worth it since otherwise you are taking a risk buying a car with no warranty. I had to sell my car very fast like the day before i left for Hawaii . Tony was here in less than 5 minutes . well i did live near the office . the price he gave me was fair as my car did have damage on it and it was very old with high mileage . He was very kind and had a very sweet demeanor. Dont trust theese guys!!!!!! Especially Tom!!! turns out these guys buy cars with big engine problems disguise them as good running cars and resell them to you. I bought a Ford Escape, yea I hope you remember me Tom!!! three days later turns out it has a huge oil leak and the inner and outer rods need to be replaced I called Tom to see if there was anything we could do or come to a little deal where they could repair the vehicle he pretty much told me the car was my problem now... bought the car in June 2015 yeah bought the car and traded it in for a new car 6 months later..... already looking to trade it in to a dealership for a new car you get what you pay for and with these guys you pay too much for junk.. this is the worst place you could buy a vehicle save your money or take the bus it'll be cheaper cuz then you'll be stuck with the payment for a car you cant even drive.. beware of the Auto Mart not worth your time or your money...... read more

Stay away from here! This place deleted my review on google, so thought I'd post it here. The fact that they deleted my review shows the kind of class and integrity here. We were interested in a used car from here and so we checked it and decided to bring it to a mechanic before buying it. Long story short, there was a lot wrong with the car, including multiple leaks in the transmission. When we took it back to Automart, we told them what was wrong and said we weren't interested. Before leaving, I asked him if they had a mechanic look at this vehicle since they acquired ownership. He said that they hadn't and that he hadn't even seen under the hood yet because the previous owner said things were just fine. That's unfortunate as that car shouldn't even be on the lot in that condition. Anyways, not a great experience. Will not be recommending this place to friends and family. There are other used car places that are a better use of your time! read more

These are some SHADY people. I went in yesterday to check out the 1990 Ford Ranger. When I got there, something happened that I've never experienced before at a dealer. After walking around the lot for 10 min, nobody came to help me. I actually, for the first time, had to walk up to their shanty trailer for some assistance. That should have been the first sign to walk away. Then I told them I was interested in the Ranger. The guy helping me had absolutely no knowledge of the truck except that some old guy use to own it. I took it for a test drive and liked it and was ready to buy it for the right price. But of course, being a smart buyer, I wanted a carfax report. The guy said his boss is the only one that can get it. Ok no prob, except that they had me waiting about 15 min before they offered me a seat. Then I waited 20 min more. And when I talked to his "boss" , he acted as if me buying their truck was a HUGE burden. Not polite or courteous at all. Then, when I told him I wanted the carfax, he acted really upset and angry and proceeded to badger me about buying the truck and how he has to pay $30 and didn't want me to waste his time and money. He acted as if the only way I can get the carfax is if I verbally agree to buy the truck. That's absurd!!!! That's just bad practice. None the less, I really wanted the truck so I told him that I really am interested in buying the truck. So after waiting almost an hour he called me into his office. Remember when I said "shanty"... there were dirty soiled jeans on the chair that I (not him, but me) had to clear in order to sit down. Now here comes the really bad part: The carfax checked out fine so I was ready to proceed with negotiations. As we all know, only a fool pays full sticker price. Sticker price is the STARTING negotiating price. Well like I said, I'm a smart buyer. I went online to print out the suggested retail value on kelly blue book of the Ranger. KBB valued the truck at $2,400 (this is the highest price for the vehicle, the lowest is trade-in value). THEIR sticker price is $2995. Almost $600 ABOVE the starting negotiating price. As soon as I showed him the printout he raised his voice angrily and told me to get the f*ck out. That's extremely disrespectful and should never happen at any business. Then I said "what???!!" He then said again "GET OUT!!! I TOLD YOU THE PRICE!!! I'M NEVER GETTING A CARFAX FOR ANYONE AGAIN!!" What a child. I am now reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. Just look at the previous review, how could Chrissy N. give five stars when the car broke down only a few weeks later. YOU BOUGHT A LEMON! I have posted my review in several forums already, and have had many people email me giving me their support. I would like to thank you. Tony was great. I wanted to sell my car quickly, so I started by contacting a few of the "cash for cars" places around SD. Tony called me back within 15 minutes of my inquiry, asked me a few questions about the vehicle, and said he was nearby and could come by my home within 20 minutes to see the car. In person he was very courteous, and offered a price in the range I was expecting. Took care of the transaction right there on the spot...all in all, I think from the time I sat down to my computer to figure out where to sell my car to the time I handed over the title Tony was little over an hour.
