This place is understandably burdened by the yelp/groupon/livingsocial/etc discount deal phenomenon. When you have over 75% of the people calling in to cash in on their coupon within one month of the expiration, it's clearly evident that it can cause problems. I bought 2 coupons (paid $55 each for $200 detail) and used one right away. The results? My car came back spotless and the convenience of living a block away made the experience that much better. Last week I called in to reserve the second detail and I'm forced to wait until November. My initial reaction wasn't to come crying to yelp and hope that people would pity me as I try to strike revenge on a detail shop. Instead, I felt more at fault - I should've planned better. The takeaway here is that when you buy a service-oriented, hotel, or other reservation-based 50%+ discount deal, don't expect the priority treatment that you might expect at the Shangri-La in Dubai. I purchased the $50 deal here a while back. I feel I got exactly what I paid for... Had I paid the full price ($200+) and received the same quality work, I would be pissed. I found myself going around the car fixing streaks on the windows and cleaning my wheels. Some parts of my dash weren't event touched. Also, when I arrived, I was welcomed by a guy smoking a cigarette (indoors)... I found that a bit odd considering it's a detail shop. I parked my car, hopped over a puddle and sat at a small, dirty, cluttered desk to confirm the work to be performed. To sum it up, I feel it could have been more professional. You know those shows where they take someone's car, work on it, and reveal the result to the stunned owner? That's what happened to me. I gave Nader and his team a day and they gave me a new car. I kid you not. I hadn't had my car detailed or cleaned in the entire 13 years I've owned it. The result blew me away. I handed him the keys, he drove off, and when he returned I couldn't stop saying "oh my god" over and over. I'm not one for hyperbole so this was a big deal. I can't recommend these guys highly enough. The value is incredible, too. There's actually a detailing place around the corner from where I live and they wanted 3 days and were going to charge me 2x as much. So glad I went with Auto Spa. A couple tips: - If you are worried about handing the keys to someone unknown and have them drive off with your car, I was too. Nader was very very professional. If you just can't bear the thought of someone else driving your car, however, you can always drop it off. - They use some strong chemicals to clean your car, and in my car's case they were probably needed. But if you don't have time to air out your car afterward just tell Nader. I'm sure he can accommodate your sensitivity and/or come up with some alternatives. I absolutely would not hesitate to recommend Auto Spa to my friends and family. I still can't believe my car looks so new, 13 years after I bought it. Unless you just bought your car within the past couple of years, you have no idea how nice your car can look. Trust me, you've forgotten. And if your car is 11 years old like my wife's, has a little body damage here and there, and has smelled kind of stale for years, then you REALLY have no idea how nice your car can look. I called them up this morning, and fortunately they weren't that busy today, so they were able to take me right away. After finding out that 11 years of being kept outside has made the exterior oxidized pretty badly, we agreed on a reasonable price, and off I went. We want to sell the car, so we thought getting her looking as nice as possible would probably help matters. We were more concerned about the stains on the fabric throughout the car than we were about the outside, but once I saw the difference these guys made to the exterior, it was like the car was transformed. When I brought it in, stuff was caked on -- stuff that doesn't leave during a normal car wash. When they were done, it was unbelievably smooth. They did an amazing job inside and out (most of the stains were completely gone, and the toughest ones look 90% better), and they're also extremely nice guys to work with. They took the time to explain everything they did. They spent as much time, energy, and care on our Honda as they would on a Porsche. It's not an inexpensive process, but it is incredibly worth it. I'm just sorry we didn't do it before we wanted to sell the car off. I'm taking my other Honda to them as soon as I can. I'm still shocked at how nice this thing looks. read more

We've always been great at taking care of the engine maintenance of our car ... not so much the exterior/interior. I head to the carwash every now and again but it's a low priority and only once have I had it detailed (car is 9 yrs old). It was time to get our car in tip top shape. The Auto Spa is absolutely fantastic. The outside glistened and even had many scratches removed. The interior was shocking. I had no idea the leather seats had become so dirty over time. The leather was truly renewed. The car mats had stains removed. The whole car looked brand new. (Side note, a week later I had my car in for an unexpected repair, and the repair shop thought we had just purchased the car! So even professionals thought is was just off the lot.) These guys really work their magic! And you will need to plan for an entire day when you take your car in. I read a bunch of these reviews after I had left my car there on Groupon deal, and hoped that everything would turn out okay! It did. Just okay. Long ago, a different detailer had the same spot in the City, and I would take my car there. The staff at that place was very communicative, talking to me about specifically what kind of treatments my car needed and reviewing with me what they could do and not do. This staff, well... Almost gruff. Rather perfunctory. Not showing any signs that they appreciate my business. I suppose that's not required, but, true to the others who have mentioned this pattern, they simply do not show an ounce of friendliness. Well, maybe an ounce, but nothing more than an ounce, I tell you! So, if you require positive and friendly communication with the people who detail your car, I would skip this place. Dropped my car off Thursday afternoon planned on picking it up friday afternoon. They said they were not done yet when I called after work Friday. Fine I didn't need it anyway so no big deal, agreed on Saturday morning at 10. Arrived at 10 and needed to be somewhere at 10:30... They had not waxed it yet so I had to wait while the person did a quick wax WTF.. Barely made it to where I needed to be after and obviously the wax was rushed and not very good. Now this wasn't just your average car detailing. My car was covered, and I mean COVERED, in hundreds if not thousands of tiny white paint spots. I'd really rather not go into the story as to how this happened to my car, but what I'd like to tell you is that the people at Auto Spa took every single little spot off, and did a FINE job at making my car look brand new again. Now if you've never had this happen to your car, let me tell you this is a hard job. I know because I had tried to do it myself and realized that no matter what I did, no GooGone or alcohol or ANYTHING besides real-life elbow grease and a pair of professionals could do. Best detailing I've ever had! Brought my car in today and it came out looking flawless. Nader, the owner, personally worked on my car and you can tell he really took his time. He cleaned every nook and cranny and made sure I was happy before I left. My car has never looked so good! It's buttery smooth to the touch, dirt/crumb free, and looks brand new under the hood. On top of that, my headlights were completely restored! I bought the Groupon and it was the best $89 I've ever spent. You'll have to pay an additional $150 to get the interior done, but it's worth every penny. In summary, The Auto Spa is amazing. Nader is a great guy and really cares about his customers. These guys do a great job. I purchased a groupon deal for a car detail from here twice now and I would come back even without the groupon. Parking your car outside in SF definately takes it's toll on your car. Keeping your car waxed is a must to keep oxidation away. Here was my past couple of experience: I bought the groupon, called to make an appointment for a week later on a Sat at 9am. The night before I removed all the trash from my trunk and interior. Dropped my car off and told them areas of the car I was concerned about. They told me they would call me @ 1 but I didn't get a call so I called them at 3 and they said they were just done with my car. Gf drove me to get the car and I was not disappointed. Some places needed me to wipe down. No biggie. I love driving my car again. *Don't forget to tip your detailer. I just ask who worked on my car, go up to the guy and gave the tip. read more

This is unfortunately a very bad experience for me. Nader strongly argued for the most expensive package and lied about the service his partner could deliver. When I tried to reach him at his office on the day of appointment, he is very busy on the phone and handled it very poorly. In the end, I had to cancel the appointment. There are several levels of packages they offer with different prices. Nader would only talk about the most expensive package, even when I kept asking for cheaper options. I was looking for glass replacement and tinting as well. Nader promised that his partner will provide those services. This is a big selling point, because I wouldn't need to make another appointment. However, at the day of the appointment, his partner said glass tinting was not possible at all because Nader gave them wrong information about the appointment. Later, when I visited other shops, almost all of the them don't think the package Nader argued for was necessary. Because the interior of the car is actually very clean, and it doesn't need a full interior detailing. I had to cancel the appointment, so I don't know the quality of their detailing service. But be careful about the package and service they argue for and promise. read more

Every two years my parents visit from England, and so every two years I take my 2006 convertible mini cooper to get detailed so they have something nice and clean to drive around in. My wet and filthy dog usually sits in the back of the car, and while a regular car wash (I use the one on Divisadero and Fell) makes the car look okay, it doesn't really get rid of the masses of hair and sand and dirt that work their way into every nook and cranny day after day. A regular car wash makes the car look like a cleanish 2006 car. When I take it to Auto Spa it comes away looking like a brand new car. Literally brand new - there's not a hint of a dog having been anywhere near the thing, and the even the paint feels amazing after they've clayed it. The difference is quite amazing. It costs quite a fair bit of money (today's bill was ~$325 for their complete package), but they do spend about 8-9 hours working on the car, so the price per hour is excellent. I've only ever had my car detailed at Auto Spa, so I can't compare them to anywhere else, but both times they've delivered exactly what they promised, on time, and with the minimum of sales double-talk. I can't ask much more from a business than that. read more

The Auto Spa recently did a full detail on my '12 128i and tinted the car all the way around (not the windshield). Both the detail and the tint were excellent. I waited about a month to write this because I wanted to make sure the tint dried properly, didn't bubble, etc. It is perfect. I bought the deal on YELP for my sisters minivan. Yes she has kids so the van did need some TLC. It took forever to get an appointment. I dropped the vehicle off at 9a.m. 5 hours later I was told they could not honor coupon the car needed to much work told to contact YELP for a full refund. I told him the coupon did not state subject to vehicle condition. But he will give me a free car wash too much oxidization on vehicle. WTH! Should not offer deal that you cannot meet. He told my sister when we went to pick up vehicle had we paid fullprice he would of kept the car overnight and cleaned the carpets. This is the kind of job that takes fullprice. Fantastic!!! First off, ignore the bad reviews, I put my car in for full service details annually (spending 200-300 each time) and this is by far the best one I've ever had so I thoroughly recommend it, especially if you care about the paint job on your car looking like new, trust me, it makes a world of difference. I went in for the top detail package for both interior and exterior on my 2008 Infiniti. After they were done with the job the car looked brand new and this is on a 5 year old car! The clay bar and buff they did on the paint made the paint super smooth and took out minor blemishes. All the door jams, especially for the trunk and hood were spotless and the engine clean was amazing. Brilliant job on the interior as well, leather seats looked like they've never been sat in. The owner showed me around the car after they were done and was very informative, great service. I cannot emphasize just how good this place is and it is provides value for money in any city let alone downtown San Francisco! read more

Unfortunately I am saddened by reading what some people have said about the $49 deal or just the price in general. How does anyone expect these guys to get out stains from the carpet, recondition headlights, refinish old paint or even push appointments for $49? This was my experience: I drove in, was greeted by Nader and asked him for a wash and wax. He said $60, asked for my phone number and asked if I had any special request. I said no and left. I came back, an employee said my vehicle was ready, he walked me around the car and asked what I thought. I was impressed! I got a lot more than just super clean wheels, clean interior and a smooth wax for the paint, I received great service from the employees at Auto Spa. They did a great job for $60 or even $80! Why? Because It takes me at least two hours to do half the quality of work Auto Spa does so it was worth every penny. If anyone is expecting Auto Spa to spend hours to recondition your headlights or refinish old paint for $49, then they are smoking crack or something close to it. Auto Spa will not make your vehicle new again for $49 but they will give your car the proper treatment it deserves if you do not expect miracle. Having read the other Yelp reviews before calling for my appointment, I wasn't too surprised when the owner answered with an unhappy tone. They've had an influx of business from the different deals. I was fine with scheduling the appointment in September when I called in June. The day before, I call and confirm my appointment. Confirmed. The work done itself and the results were excellent, but I knocked off one star for the following: 1. When I called to ask how long the process would take and when to pick up the car, he told me I could pick it up at 4-5pm. The day of, I drop off my car at 8 AM. I hang around the city until 5 PM and see if it's done. The owner treated me like I was an idiot and said it wouldn't be done until 6:30 PM and I should've known that. I walk meekly away and hang out some more at the Ferry Building. 2. When I first dropped off my car, the owner stayed in his seat behind the desk and made no move to get up. Mind you, I was the only customer in sight and he was the only worker. What's a customer to do? Do I stay there and wait until he tells me what to do? At least tell me if I should drive my car wherever he wants it. Finally, I got out of my car and told him I was in the hizzle. 3. After driving home, the owner called me and this is how the conversation went: ring ring! me: Hello? owner: Your code didn't work. (By this time, I could recognize his attitude to know it was him) me: Oh, let me pull it up for you. It's XXXXX owner: (types it in and realizes it's legit) OK. me: Ok....thank you! owner: OK. (awkward silence) me: ok thanks! bye! Maybe this is just how he typically deals with people or maybe he was angry that so many people took him up on the deals, but there's such a thing as common courtesy and respect for customers. Even if I look like a small puny girl. On a side note, it was a relief when I went to pick up the car and he wasn't there. The guy who was finishing up was super nice. We even got into a conversation about his son and he busted out pictures of his pride and joy to show me. It's cool. Wow! That's what I said when I saw my car. I found this place on Yelp, and now I know why this place is so highly rated. When they detail...they don't miss any details. I felt like I was picking up a brand new car. Nader (the owner) will spend the time to show you all the nooks and crannies that they clean to a spotless shine. Given that they are slammed, they did a great job. I planned more than a month ahead of time to come in with my vehicle and had no issue making an appointment that fit my schedule. The garage was packed on arrival in the early afternoon and they were working hard. I think most leave their cars with them in the morning and they weren't expecting my arrival. No matter. I left the keys and narrowed down a 1 hour window to return and made sure they had my cell phone number. There was no real discussion about the job ahead/my vehicle except that I had a Yelp deal. I returned towards the end of the window we discussed. Everyone was still busy plugging away. My car had it's doors opened and the carpets were drying out (but effectively done). The manager who I spoke with in the morning was busy answering the phone and didn't have time to talk about the specific work they completed. On the whole everything looked much better. Can't blame them given that the phone is 'ringing off the hook' frustrating others though. The real question: would I return and pay for a spa service at full price? Only if they weren't slammed like they are now and if my car was in poor shape. I would like to talk about my car care concerns and about how they can address them or not. I'd like to think that I'm purchasing not just their service but also their expertise. That aside, they did a good job given the situation. read more

This is a follow up to my original posting in August. I purchased 2 groupons, August posting was for the first groupon and this is for the 2nd groupon. Last week I called them to schedule an appointment and the guy was simply rude and unprofessional. After telling him that I've a Groupon deal, he immediately said these deals expire on 1/29, and lectured me on waiting this long to redeem the deal. Mind you, this was still in the beginning of January and the deal expires on 1/29/14 providing a 2.5 weeks of window. Before calling them I tried looking for appointment availability on their online calendar to determine if I can find a good date and time slot to call for an appointment. Unfortunately their site isn't functional so that idea was out of the window. They're a low tech company and many convenience features aren't available. Honestly, I'm a paying customer, I am trying to redeem my deal in advance, not last minute or asking them to take an expired deal. Then why the HELL did they lecture me for? Maybe what Auto Spa should do is to spend time re-thinking on revamping their website so the appointment scheduler is a seamless/smoother activity for the customer, instead of a manual calling in process. Final word of advice, learn to have better customer service. Just because you can and possibly know how to detail a car better than your competition but the lacking of good customer service might not win anyone back. read more

I went to this place years ago when it was called the Detail Factory and the owner had a huge Boa Constrictor in an aquarium. I half expected Tony Soprano to greet me at the door. Well the Boa has been replaced by a Pug but the quality of service from before remains the same. I was also a Yelp deal customer who procrastinated for the better part of a year and tried to book an appointment the last few weeks before expiration. Because I wasn't alone in my procrastination, the poor owner of this shop must have been inundated with last minute bookings. As it takes a while to properly detail a car, there was no way he was going to fit me in before the deal expired so he offered to extend the deal and book me a couple months after - fine by me! Unlike some reviews, I had no issues with my reservation date, follow-up or customer service. Sure, these guys are not Nordstrom shoe salesmen - they are detail guys so If you have an expectation that you're every trivial need is going to be met - you're at the wrong kind of shop. I was referred to them by a friend in Oakland, who said the owner (Nader) really knows how to take care of his clientele. So my 2015 Scion FRS is in a need of some paint correction mostly because I plan to add paint protection film to my entire vehicle's front end sometime early next month. The vehicle had acquired many scratches and swirls after the dealership had "washed" my car before releasing it to me [from when purchased it]. Unfortunately for me I just have so many errands that I do not have the time or motivation to spend an entire day doing this one task. And of course living in the city, finding an adequate location to do proper detailing is nearly impossible (especially if you live in an apt complex and dont own a home with a garage). Long story short, My car was left there the entire day while I went to run my errands. Got back towards end of day and my car was ready for me in satisfactory condition (majority of the scratches were either gone or reduced visibility. Any remaining blemishes would require probably heavy or severe compounding which may take more time to correct). The only thing for me was there was a bit of leftover wax residue on certain body panels - but nothing I couldn't take care of myself. The workers there are courteous and I did not experience any of the hostile examples as mentioned in some previous reviews. Communication is just okay though as I had to call in to get an update on my car, but I did get an answer. The important thing here is the quality of work and I believe that the employee did the best he could to fulfill my expectations. All in all, I may bring my girlfriends car for some detailing too. read more

I also bought the Groupon for the exterior detail service. I called them up and got a reservation for the following morning, first thing. I left the car with them for what they said would be most of the day. I had these splotches from fruit that had fallen from a tree in my driveway, and no amount of scrubbing would get them out of the jet black paint on my car (P.S. I'll never buy another black car). Nader, the guy I worked with there, took a look at the car and made sure I knew that I shouldn't get my hopes up about getting that stuff out of the paint. Often times when stuff like that is left on the finish for several days it is nearly impossible to remove unless the car is taken to a body shop where they literally sand it down and then refinish the car. All that said, when I picked up the car it looked brand-spanking new, with 95% of the splotches entirely removed! My expectations were set at a realistic level, and then they were dramatically exceeded. So much so that I couldn't put a paper coffee cup on the roof without it sliding off, the paint was that glassy smooth. A+++ for Auto Spa. I'll definitely take my car back. read more
