I strongly advise against choosing this pet boarding facility. My friend just took her dog here and upon pick up she was in for a surprise. Initially, she had high hopes based on positive reviews when she needed to leave her dog for a trip. The owner appeared friendly and trustworthy when she met him, but her experience took a disappointing turn. Upon picking up her dog, the owner claimed to have given him a bath, went in the back to get him and took 20 minutes stating he had to give him another bath... her dog was dirty and had a terrible odor. The owner attributed this to her dog rolling in his own waste, which is not something he does at home. Additionally, her dog seemed malnourished, now has a UTI & has an open sore on his paw. I cannot recommend this place to anyone for their pets. If I could give it 0 stars I would. read more

This was my first time using Avon Pet Lodge and I will never return. I left my dog for a long weekend and when I picked him up he was clearly neglected, he was visibly skinnier and obviously not taken outside for a long period of time - he peed for almost a minute when he came out. He also smelled horrific and I paid for him to get a bath during his stay. Please do not board your dogs here - I promise you will regret it. read more

I boarded my dogs for the last time with Avon Pet Lodge in November, 2022, and left this review on google reviews. The review has since been taken down and is visible only to me. I contacted google to ask why it had been taken down and was told "You review does not appear to violate our rules, but we cannot tell you why it was taken down." Not feeling good about posting this, as I thought I had found the perfect place to board my two dogs, but...I have boarded them with AVPL (Avon Pet Lodge) 3 times. Before and after the first time, I talked to Steve and he seemed to really be in tune with dogs in general, and my dogs in particular. I picked them up after boarding them for the 1st time (Thu-Mon) and things seemed fine. They both were happy to see me but not ecstatic, implying to me that they were pretty happy to have been there. They did, however, smell "doggie," even though I had bathed them before dropping them off. The 2nd time was a shorter period. I dropped them off on Friday afternoon and picked them up on Sunday afternoon. I didn't really think or notice that anything was wrong until I got home, when they both made a beeline towards the water bowl and drank for upwards of 1 minute each. It was obvious that they were both dehydrated. Again, they had both been bathed prior to my dropping them off there but they both smelled "doggie." Yesterday afternoon, I picked them up after their having been at AVPL from Thursday afternoon until yesterday's pickup, Monday afternoon, and greeted Steve by saying "Hey, I am here to pick up 2 bad dogs" (my two are pigs when it comes to eating). He responded by saying "You are here to pick up two hungry dogs" and stated that they had not eaten like they normally would have. When he brought them out into the waiting area, I was appalled. They were lethargic and noticeably thinner than when I had dropped them off. The younger one (Oliver) made a beeline towards the tray under a flowerpot that Steve had watered and, after I said something about that (I was just desperate to get them home), Steve brought a large water bowl out, which was probably like 3 quarts at least). Over the course of the next minute or so, they proceeded to completely empty the water bowl. I immediately grabbed the bowl and filled it up again. Steve said "come on guys," implying that he was shocked that they were so dehydrated. He mentioned that the water bowl in their room was empty as well. I placed their harnesses on both of them as I gave him my credit card for payment. The harnesses were loose on them to the extent that Steve noticed as well, as he commented about it. I am just glad that I got them out of there before they got worse or died. I ensured that they were fed and watered when I got home, giving them a ton of lunch meat and snacks to ensure that they were properly nourished. The 12-year-old Bubba has recovered for the most part, as he was chunkier, thus, he had a bit more overhead, though his bark is the worst I have ever heard it. I surmise he was probably barking the entire time, begging for water. The 2-year-old Oliver is recovering though nowhere near normal. I am assuming because of the weight loss, he is decidedly more sensitive to the cold, as he was shivering when I brought him in this morning and needed to be under a blanket before he stopped. Though extremely playful, he hasn't played one bit since I brought him home. NEVER AGAIN. Update. Two months after posting this, I am happy to report that my dogs are both fine. read more

Picked dog up owner walked dog to me I knew immediately that there was something wrong with him I just wanted to get out of there and get him home it was a Saturday my vet not open I nursed him until Monday took him in to vet were she said he had a stroke. I wonder how long he was in this state and the owner of this business did not think anything was wrong with him,if I was a man I probably would of (!!!!!),be very afraid to board your animal here. read more

We had a great experience with the Avon Pet Lodge over the past weekend. They took excellent care of my 2yo St. Bernard. We asked for a bath on pick-up day, and she came home smelling fresh & clean. The staff is friendly and the price is right. The only thing I wish they had that they don't is a webcam like some of the other boarding places do. But I'll still give them 5 stars :) read more

I have brought my two dogs to Avon Pet Lodge for years. The first time was over ten years ago. I usually board them both about 3 times per year for 3-7 days each time. I continue to board them there because of the care they receive. I have inspected the cages on numerous occasions to ensure the cage areas are maintained. One of my dogs must receive medication 2 times per day. I wholeheartedly recommend Avon Pet Lodge. I have never been disappointed with the service or personnel. My dogs are family members as well and I would not continue to bring them there if I had the slightest concern. read more

After our horrific experience with Avon Pet Lodge we were encouraged to contact BBB asking for a refund (although it's not about the $, it's about the inhumane treatment of our dogs). Steve, the owner of Avon Pet Lodge told the BBB he would issue us a refund via check, we never received a check, he then claimed he would send a check certified mail, again we never received a check. Please do NOT take your pets to this kennel, just so inhumane to not feed an animal and give them their medicine. I still get upset to think our dogs were exposed to such treatment and that we paid someone to do this to them. read more

Love this place! Staff members are so friendly and took excellent care of my 9 mo. old german shepherd. They all seem to love the dogs and have knowledge of many dog behaviors. Relatively inexpensive, would recommend their boarding to anyone. read more

After reading all the positive reviews, I took my dog to avon pet lodge for 3 nights. Brought home a dog who had diaherrhea for 2 days, drank 3 straight bowls of water as if she had none during her stay, and had two full days of dog food that was not given to her. Awful experience for our dog. Also was not let out for over 12 hours causing an accident as soon as she was picked up in the lobby. Our dog is well trained and does not have these issues at home. Will never go there again as my dog was neglected and came home sick. Beware dog families. read more

My dogs stayed there from Friday one week until Sat the next week. I gave them permission to bath them if needed. When i picked up my dogs the owner had told me that one had an accident in her cage. My Yorkie was given back to me covered in poop. I had to take her straight to the groomer and she had it all over her back end. Her neck, and in her fur around her head and bottom. When i addressed it with the owner he gave me two wipes and the dogs blanket that had been in the washer in a plastic bag and went back inside. No way to treat someones family member. read more

We have taken our maltese to Avon Pet Lodge for the past 2 1/2 years, since we moved out here to Avon. I would recommend this place to anyone! The owner is such a animal lover, and it comes through every time you talk to him. The other gentleman who also works here is awesome. Our dog runs to the door everytime we drive into the parking lot, and that tells me a lot!! read more

We just picked up our dog from a 4-day stay at Avon Pet Lodge. Our boy was happy to see us and it was clear he really loved the owner and staff there. The owner is very knowledgable of dog behavior and only does what is best for the dog. Each dog is treated as an individual as the staff asked us his likes/dislikes when we dropped him off-- they even asked which side of his bed he likes to sleep on (fuzzy or smooth). We felt comfortable leaving him (even though it was only our second boarding experience) since we knew he was in such kind and capable hands. The next time we have to leave our boy we will know he's happy at Avon Pet Lodge. read more

Avon Pet Lodge is by far the best place around. I feel 100% confident that my pet is cared for as it would be at home. The staff and owner are professional and about as nice of people you will ever run across. In addition to all that their prices are exceptional.
