Dat Pimp

Back Yard Bar has awesome Karaoke on Monday Night @ 9:30. The Host and co-Host are great artists and very helpful. I heard a lot of Diamonds in the ruff. A lot of very good talent. The staff was very helpful, polite, and went the extra mile to serve the patrons. 5* I was impressed.

Fun times. Great music, friendly service. Connects to Boca fiesta and a pool hall. Reasonable prices. Get there early to avoid the crowds.

Visiting the area and needed a place that satisfied a variety of tastes for our party of 5 for…read morelunch. Apple Maps struggled to provided proper directions to parking and it might be because the area is under construction so just give yourself time to find Loosey's especially if going for dinner. It sure is worth the effort though, especially if you get Matthew as your server. He is full of wit and great local knowledge. He charmed our table from our first encounter. Loosey's has to be a local favorite because the quality and freshness of the food is outstanding. Matthew is a local treasure and made our experience there so memorable and fun. We all remarked that it must be so electric there when live music is on stage or it's a Gator game day. We started with the loaded potato skins. There were 5 large pieces that were covered with toppings and delivered pipping hot. I could easily order that as a meal next time I'm in town. Their house ranch dipping sauce that is drizzled on top was delicious. Several in our group ordered the Chic-fil Loosey's, which is a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, but I wasn't able to grab a photo as they were so eager to get started eating it. The portion of chicken breast was extremely large and the batter was perfectly crispy. Both diners exclaimed it was one of their all- time favorite chicken sandwiches they had ever eaten. Another diner took advantage of their wing special and exclaimed the Buffalo Garlic sauce was fantastic and she paired them with their ranch as well. She loved their added touch of the small paper basket topping the plate of wings for the bones. I had the Classic Beef Burger and it was cooked perfectly. There was a nice peppery flavor to the grill of the burger and the patty size was more than I expected. Especially for the price. I was so happy we found Loosey's. It was really good food. I encourage you to look past the construction mess and the "old wooden bar" stereotypes and trust me when o say, they take great pride on preparing high quality food.

Beautiful day so we sat outside in a lovely patio area. Great beer menu with draughts imported or domestic as well as a full bar. The menu was pretty much standard bar fare I had fish and chips and my wife had Mac and cheese. The fries on my plate were covered in salt. I tried to shake it off and wound up with a layer of salt on my plate. Most restaurant food is too salty for me as I cook at home low salt but this was crazy. I decided to try the Mac and cheese. It also had a cap of salt on it. I tried to dig to the bottom of the crock thinking that wouldn't be salty but I was wrong. The dish was prepared with salt throughout. Time to go and I did complain. The waitress said she hears that a lot and she offered to replace our meal to go but we didn't take her up on that offer. The fish was great! And we loved the vibe of the restaurant inside and out. I would go back again but knowing that I would order SALT FREE !!

The black bean burger and goat cheese wontons are especially worth the hype. The vibe is artsy, lively, and a little chaotic, but in a way that makes the experience fun rather than stressful. Service can be unhurried during busy hours, yet the staff stays friendly and attentive. Overall, it's a great place to settle in, enjoy good food, and soak up Gainesville's character.

I got my Publix hot and spicy wings and my Carolina bbq sauce, and all I needed was a beer and a screen. (Did you know you can bring your own food into Silver Q? You can get take-out, bring your own, or order delivery...yup) Anyway, there was a billards tournament going on, so when I asked the bartender to put it on the game, SHE PUT IT ON THE BIG SCREEN!! Wow!! Unfortunately, after watching the match and enjoying my spicy chicken and Yuenglings for THREE HOURS, my bartender took a break, and another bartender changed the channel, with 4 MINUTES LEFT IN THE GAME! It took the wind out of my sails! I walked up and told her, and asked her to change it back, but she got busy making drinks for other people, and so I just closed out my tab and left. Maybe next time, I'll go to a dedicated sports bar, and only come here, when I want to play pool...yeah, that's the ticket!

The tables and all equipment here are in very good condition. The building is laid out very simply but it's laid out well and never feels crowded even when every table is being used. The bar area and arcade area are very nice too. I haven't really seen anyone playing the games back there but there's actually a good selection of "action" games like air hockey, basketball, darts, and even a few beer pong tables. I was pretty confused by that as they seem to fit much better in a dive like Gator City, but whatever. They also have Hold 'Em tournaments in the bar area(not sure how frequently) and it looks like a healthy enough game. Beer selection is decent for a pool hall. You aren't coming here for micros so it gets the job done. And finally, I'll comment on the smoking situation since most others have. I don't smoke and I don't really want to smell it when I'm out, but I know to prepare myself appropriately when going to a pool hall. If you've ever been to Dugout, you know what I mean. Main St doesn't have that problem at all. Between the height of the ceilings and the ventilation system, I could barely even smell the cigarettes from a couple guys in our group. That was a big plus in my book.

My friends and I came here for the CFB National Championship this past Monday and had a blast! The…read moreSwamp is probably the best place to go to watch any sporting event. The atmosphere is just the best and I always have a good time! Seating is first come, first serve or seat yourself situation. So if there is a big game, you should get there a couple hours early to ensure you get a seat. Otherwise you will be wondering the restaurant trying to pounce on an open seat the second you see one. We actually arrived 2.5 hours before the game even started and almost all the seats were taken already. While this can be a little chaotic, it really adds to the experience of eating here on a game day! It was absolutely PACKED for the national championship, people were even bringing chairs from home to sit outside. We ended up sitting at a small outdoor bar. Our bartender or server, Maddie, was excellent. She made sure we were satisfied the whole time and did a great job checking in on us. She was also super friendly and great to talk to! Considering how busy it was, the food didn't take too long to come out. When it is super busy, you can order food at the bar (inside or outside one) and don't need to have a table to receive service. The staff did a great job keeping up with everything and making sure things were running as efficiently as possible. For the food, the five of us started with an order of mozzarella sticks and their famous buffalo chicken dip. The mozzarella sticks are a new menu item and feature golden-fried mozzarella sticks, crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside, served with ranch marinara. These were really, really good, with a nice cheese pull and the perfect amount of breading. I was quite surprised with how tasty these were! The Buffalo chicken dip consists of pulled chicken mixed with buffalo wing sauce, melted cheddar, pepper jack, and cream cheese, finished with ranch and an extra kick of hot sauce, served with tortilla chips, celery, and carrots. This was AMAZING and a perfect starter for the table to share. Served in a cast iron skillet, the portion is huge and the dip is super flavorful and creamy. There weren't enough chips served with the dip for all of us, but our server was happy to give us a complimentary tray of chips. I can easily see why this is a favorite and I will definitely be ordering this next time I come here! I also got a side Caesar salad and thought that was great as well. It was a nice portion, with fresh romaine, shredded Parmesan cheese, croutons, and capers. We ordered our entrees around kickoff, I ended up getting the Founder's Club Sandwich. The Founder's Club included a grilled chicken breast topped crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, provolone cheese, served on toasted sourdough bread, with a side of swamp sauce. All the entrees come with fries, unless you want to upgrade to another side or request not to have them. I really enjoyed this sandwich. The chicken had a nice char to it and was surprisingly juicy. I appreciated the sourdough bread over a regular bun as well. The subtleness of the provolone cheese and the fresh tomato were great too! Overall, we had an awesome time watching the CFB national championship at The Swamp. The atmosphere and vibes are unmatched. Service was awesome and the workers there are so on top of things. Food hit the spot and the Buffalo chicken dip was our favorite. Can't wait to come back!!
