My only reason giving two stars was I got the gluten free everything bagel lox sandwich. the bagel was way too salty to eat. I realized the seasoning on the top half of the bagel was just overly salty. Others tried the bagel and agreed it just wasn't edible. They spit it out. The bottom half of the bagel with less seasoning was bearable but the bagel was also slightly undercooked and raw/doughy in the middle. I was very disappointed once I got to work and realized I couldn't eat my food. It was like a mouthful of ocean water. I usually love lox anything but not this bagel. UPDATED: I had a great experience with the Bagel & I during a catered event (probably one of the best bagels I've ever had), but when I went to their location in Lynchburg, I was disappointed. I ordered a bagel sandwich to eat later and sadly the bagel was tough and the turkey, while a nicer quality than regular deli meat, was dry. Overall, it was hard to eat and I wasn't happy with my meal. The person who got a gluten free bagel in my party really liked it. Maybe it was just a fluke or their bagels need to be toasted. 8/10 times I go here they get my order wrong. Food tastes good and is in a convenient location. But consistently getting home and finding that they didn't put cream cheese on a bagel or something missing really does taint the experience. Well, I have been there before. Usually with a pretty high bill. Although I like it there I was disappointed 2X once spending over $10 for a salad that was small not enough to take no longer than 5 minutes to eat with salad dressing packets I had to pay for. I still went back but now not sure I will again I had tap water cup of water instead of what i usually order a $5.+ drink and yep, they charged me .15 for water from a faucet- like product is getting worse, service is declining but prices are going up. You would think we wouldn't have to pay for a paper cup of water since most restaurants just give you water. Since we eat out a lot it is the principle. Are they doing that bad they have to charge for tap water. Can't use the tariffs as an excuse hopefully they don't order their food from China or another European country. I came here upon several friends' recommendations and have also known the owner Andrew and his son. They have not spared any expenses making this place spectacular upon first impressions. The decor and vibe are fantastic and spacious. The colors are very welcoming. The theme colors of black and bronze is a great choice. They had a well-decorated, comfortable medium-sized meeting room and large family room to give a homely feel. Just for the vibe, I can see this place being trendy. But, of course, the location of this place helps a lot too, being right on Timberlake Road. To be safe, at first, I tried everything Bagel with creme cheese. I was blown away by the softness and freshness. Then on my next visit ordered the Lox, with salmon, creme cheese and capers, etc., on an everything Bagel. It was delicious. The coffee was fresh and excellent! It was an infinite coffee pot, which is a big plus. The prices are excellent compared to most restaurants in this town. The staff was amiable, polite, and informative for anyone unsure what to order. I highly recommend this place. The Bagel & I was bustling on a Sunday afternoon after opening a few days before. I immediately loved the atmosphere and decided to eat in even though the original plan was to grab and go. I was pleasantly surprised by the breadth of options: bagel and cream cheese, breakfast sandwiches, and lunch sandwiches with plenty of beverage options. The front staff were very friendly and seemed happy to be there. I ordered the Veggie Benny on an everything bagel. I wanted the whole wheat everything bagel that was on the menu, but I was told that they didn't have them. I noticed there were tons of people seated who were waiting for their order, so I was expecting a longer wait (which it did end up being). Unfortunately, when my order came I was informed that they did not have any avocado for my sandwich. I was incredibly impressed with the quality of the bagels and the sandwich in general. They are my new favorite bagels in the Lynchburg area. I also tried the blueberry bagel with blueberry cream cheese and the cinnamon sugar bagel with regular cream cheese. The everything bagel was my favorite. It had the perfect amount of chewiness that lends to a great bagel sandwich. I also loved that they use real eggs, and the hollondaise sauce was delicious. Placed an on-line order yesterday for a dozen bagels and a schmear for New Years Day bc after staying up all night who wants to eat cereal or cook breakfast. Their online ordering lets you place your order and pay. Its a little voluminous bc it is numbered 1-12 for each bagel but other than that really easy to use. We ordered 4 everything, 4 cinnamon crunch, and 4 plain, as well as a schmear (scallion). Got an extra everything bc I did not know that they use a bakers dozen (13). I arrived a little early to pick up my order and it had not been filled yet because they fill the orders based on a time frame as opposed to letting them sit there all day. It also appears they are cooking bagels all day as I observed everything bagels getting pulled out of the oven at 1215. The restaurant is spacious with both booth and table seating, as well as a family room with couches and chairs for a more relaxed seating option. The owner filled my order and even gave me a free schmear (honey walnut) bc it goes well with the cinnamon bagel. Our bagels were great (even the next day). Everyone really enjoyed them and they toasted well. The everything bagel is the star of the show. The schmears were fresh and well mixed. Definitely recommend for a group as one is enough for an adult and a half is enough for smaller kids and they have a variety that will please everyone. read more

It's a bagel shop, it sells bagels. When I heard a new bagel place was opening up I was overjoyed and immediately visited to try out some of what they have but I'm somewhat disappointed. Either the selling point of a bagel shop should be its bagels or its cream cheese, both should be somewhat affordable. I would be OK paying Bagel and I prices if either one of these were outstanding but both were simply average. For naysayers and people who may think of me as too harsh I went at both opening time in the morning and at lunch for both bagels/sandwiches and bagels/schmear. Nothing absurd about this place draws me in than any other bagel place. They have this weird system of having plastic cast iron plates in which once you're done you just set them out for staff to collect them but it doesn't seem as if there's a dedicated staff member to do this so sometimes the plates lay out for very long. The sandwiches are far too expensive for a bagel place, especially for the size. I got the lawyer and was somewhat disappointed with what I had paid for (granted isn't that some lawyers anyways XD). Finally why is so much of the menu dedicated to salads? The namesake and much of the kitchen is dedicated entirely to bagel making from proofing as well as freshly baking the bagels. Why muddle the menu with salad options, especially because no one is eating salads for breakfast. I might be back, I might not. The best thing about this place is the fresh everything bagel and the amount of cream cheese options which honestly should be more visible on the menu. read more

As we live in Moneta, this was quite a hike on Saturday morning, BUT well worth it. During the summer, they would have a stand setup on 122 which would make the trip for FABULOUS bagels close by. In the last few months, they have opened a location in Westlake. Hooray! The bagels are, hands down, the best around. My absolute favorite is the cheese bagel with red pepper cream cheese. The breakfast sandwiches are also tasty. Most of the time we buy them by the dozen, because how can you choose just one flavor? I cut them open, separate the sweet, savory and everything bagels and freeze them for great bagels anytime we want one. I love the chewy texture and slightly sour taste of the dough. My favorite combo is an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and an extra cup of red pepper and garlic cream cheese for dipping. Let me start by stating this review is based on the fact they say "New York Style". This is my third time coming here. There is nothing NYC about these bagels. They don't have the taste, volume or rise and the service is slow. They are however very busy which is cool since they are a small business. My order is very simple and it takes them 20-30 minutes to produce my bagel. The time stamp on my receipt says 10:05. I returned to my car to eat my bagel at 10:25. Not sure if they can prioritize small simple orders before all the ridiculous caramelized onion avocado orders but it might be helpful. This is a solid 3-4 star establishment. I won't go out of my way for it but I will be back. I paid $3 for my bagel which seems fine but some of their sandwiches are pricey. An egg and bagel (no cheese) is listed under $3 too. The decor and seating is very nice. There are plenty of seating options including regular tables and a separate area with couches with a nice coffee shop feel. I can see this place lasting a long time, not sure what they need to make their bagels NYC standard but they have some work to do. Love this place, but they need to get it together when it comes to the Kalamata olive spread. It can't be that hard to chop up the olives and fold them into the cream cheese.
