    gluten free pancakes!

Such a cute spot for a weekend brunch! You can eat here even if you're not staying at Acorn Hill. The pancakes were SO good (and they even have gluten-free) Only bummer was the bacon it came out pretty cold. Otherwise, great vibe and definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

I was really excited to visit this charming, quaint spot after winning a Mother's Day brunch here. The atmosphere is cozy, and was super cute! Unfortunately, the breakfast didn't quite live up to expectations in terms of flavor, and the service felt a bit lacking. I had the eggs Benedict. After we finished our meal, no one came back to check on us, so we weren't sure when or how to leave. I also noticed some cleanliness issues, like dust and dead bugs on the windowsill, which took away from the overall experience. That said, I think with a bit more attention to detail, this place could be great. I think it would be really cool to have a print out of the history of acorn hill at the tables because I'd love to know more about the history! Still, I'm grateful for the chance to experience it!

Came here on a whim with some friends cause we were craving some breakfast food after taking an exam and this place was not what I was expecting. I realized that this establishment is hidden inside a bed and breakfast after arriving and the interior is.... interesting. The location is a bit odd too. It's in the middle of like a residential area. No matter, onwards to the food. The pancakes were phenomenal in their own right. Tasty, affordable, generous, not much more I can comment on them. The real surprise was the monte cristo. It's been a while since I've even seen a monte cristo offered on a menu so when I saw it, I had to try it. Effectively how it's done here is its a French Toast sandwich but it was tasty! The only other menu item that stood out to me was the quality of their breakfast potatoes. Well cooked and crispy as opposed to a weird boiled potato mess. Come here if you want to get a good flight of pancakes although it may be a little out of the way for some people.

End of breakfast time. Clean and neat place.

Really nice people and a beautiful place. No COVID games being played here. Food is standard fare. What makes it great is the service and people.

Good breakfast spot, beautiful location, Great service. It's my day off so I wanted something good that I didn't have to cook. This place was my choice. Upon arriving at the place it looks like some type of old museum. Once inside You have walk about twenty feet through the lobby and into the bistro. I ordered the Big Breakfast which was three over easy eggs, two pieces of toast, two pieces of bacon and home fries and two pancakes with strawberries cooked in them. I was celebrating the end of my five day stretch so I I ordered a mimosa as well. LOL! Everything was good, but except the table syrup for my pancakes. This is the only reason this place doesn't get five starts is because for any waffles or pancakes that don't come from IHOP ( yuck) real maple syrup is mandatory. Great service, good food, and a cool, old location. Oh!! My server was Amazing too. I always tip generously when given great service and this was great service. Thank you!

Upscale without being stiff, comfortable without losing that polished feel. I ordered the jambalaya, and it was a standout. Well layered flavor, not overly heavy, with a nice balance of spice and richness. The proteins were cooked properly and the vegetables still had structure, which matters in a dish like that. It felt intentional, not just thrown together for a brunch menu. Across the table, the Eggs Benedict was equally strong. The hollandaise was smooth and properly seasoned, not overly lemony or thick, and the eggs were cooked right where they should be. That is often where places miss, but this one didn't. Dessert was where things really elevated. The strawberry cheesecake was clean, bright, and not overly sweet, with a good texture that held together without being dense. The chocolate Rasberry glutin-free dessert torte, was rich in the right way. Deep chocolate flavor without crossing into heavy or overwhelming. Service was attentive without hovering, and timing between courses was well paced, which is not easy on a busy holiday like Easter. Overall, this is a place that clearly pays attention to execution. Not just presentation, but flavor, balance, and consistency. That is what separates a good brunch from one you remember. We will be back.

Server wasn't much help and said she was new. Service was slow and embarrassingly bad. Our food was subpar and nothing to write home about (we didn't even take photos) - the best bite was the Thai Chili sauce Brussels. 3 out of 4 at our table had a that a veg side and everyone liked them! My wife had a the filet, which wasn't very tender. We came for dinner based on advertisement of a James Beard award winning chef. We've been to many restaurants (not in LYH) that have a James Beard award winning chef- don't be fooled this one wasn't!!!

I just moved to Lynchburg a month ago and experienced dining downtown last night (for the first…read moretime) and it really made me question if I will ever go downtown again to eat out. I have several issues but will start with the first one that really bothers me: 1. As I approached the restaurant I noticed this homeless man walking around the block with a walker. I was in Dish from 5 - 6:30 and this homeless man came in THREE times to go into the bathroom (he was not a customer). This was not only a huge turn off but IMO a sanitary issue of him going into the bathroom doing who knows what. I saw the expression on the waitress face like she did not know what to do. Was there a manager working? Is this how it is at every restaurant in town that they allow homeless people in to use the bathroom? Are there homeless shelters for people in town to provide care and feeding for them? 2. I ordered a glass of wine on the Happy Hour menu and it was weak, like water was added to it. 3. I ordered the Smoke Salmon encrusted in Puff Pastry and the puff pastry was not cooked all the way (it was clearly visible that it was not a golden brown but rather a pale yellow. I just hope my future experiences in this lovely town on much better than I experienced last night. And one more thing, I have stomach issues today, and all I can think of is the cooks using that bathroom where this homeless guys went in 3 times in 90 minutes. I question how this is not Board of Health Violation.
