Amazing! More than I could ever ask for. First, amazing staff! I went in bright and early 6:45am. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. Get the CINNAMON RAISIN PANCAKES, while you still can. Perfect crust! So cinnamon-y sweet I ate the whole thing without syrup! Soft scrambled eggs were like heaven. Pork sausage links were so juicy. The grilled potato's so, so good, paired with the sausage it was the perfect amount of salt. I also got a side of sautéed mushrooms, you cannot go wrong with that combo if you love all of these things. The chef really cares for his craft. The vibe of the Acorn Hill Lodge And Bistro is absolutely adorable. Neon light sign in the window, Christmas lights wrapped around supports. Not too bright, not too dark. Ordered French toast and it was undercooked and was told plain white bread was used but there were speckles of grains in bread (I hope that's what they were). 3 pieces with nothing else. No side meat, no berries. Ate 2 bites, paid bill and left. If they can't make French toast properly, can't imagine what it is like to spend the night. read more

The service was terrible. The waitress didn't come to our table, I had to flag her down to just ask for water. We waited 45 minutes for our meals, and it was not busy at all. The waitress never apologized or explained. I had to ask for a box and the check because she was just looking at me without saying anything. Also the food wasn't fantastic either. The eggs weren't totally cooked, the quesadilla was soggy on one side, and I asked for an English muffin but got white bread instead. We asked for berries on the French toast and that was not added. For waiting 45 minutes the meal wasn't anything special. I was really excited to visit this charming, quaint spot after winning a Mother's Day brunch here. The atmosphere is cozy, and was super cute! Unfortunately, the breakfast didn't quite live up to expectations in terms of flavor, and the service felt a bit lacking. I had the eggs Benedict. After we finished our meal, no one came back to check on us, so we weren't sure when or how to leave. I also noticed some cleanliness issues, like dust and dead bugs on the windowsill, which took away from the overall experience. That said, I think with a bit more attention to detail, this place could be great. I think it would be really cool to have a print out of the history of acorn hill at the tables because I'd love to know more about the history! Came here on a whim with some friends cause we were craving some breakfast food after taking an exam and this place was not what I was expecting. I realized that this establishment is hidden inside a bed and breakfast after arriving and the interior is.... interesting. The location is a bit odd too. It's in the middle of like a residential area. No matter, onwards to the food. The pancakes were phenomenal in their own right. Tasty, affordable, generous, not much more I can comment on them. The real surprise was the monte cristo. It's been a while since I've even seen a monte cristo offered on a menu so when I saw it, I had to try it. Effectively how it's done here is its a French Toast sandwich but it was tasty! The only other menu item that stood out to me was the quality of their breakfast potatoes. Well cooked and crispy as opposed to a weird boiled potato mess. Come here if you want to get a good flight of pancakes although it may be a little out of the way for some people. read more

Hands down best breakfast in Lynchburg and very reasonable priced! The hardest part is getting there before 11 on weekdays and 1 on Sundays for breakfast. You can tell their eggs are from their own chickens and there is bird watching directly outside of their large windows. Services is always friendly and on point. Prices are unbeatable comparable to iHOP. Not as cheap as Waffle house but the quality different is well worth it. read more

Good breakfast spot, beautiful location, Great service. It's my day off so I wanted something good that I didn't have to cook. This place was my choice. Upon arriving at the place it looks like some type of old museum. Once inside You have walk about twenty feet through the lobby and into the bistro. I ordered the Big Breakfast which was three over easy eggs, two pieces of toast, two pieces of bacon and home fries and two pancakes with strawberries cooked in them. I was celebrating the end of my five day stretch so I I ordered a mimosa as well. LOL! Everything was good, but except the table syrup for my pancakes. This is the only reason this place doesn't get five starts is because for any waffles or pancakes that don't come from IHOP ( yuck) real maple syrup is mandatory. We are staying here for the week and decided to come down and enjoy breakfast at the bistro. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Food was out fairly quick, but not lacking in flavor and taste! The pancakes were wonderful, they are sweet cream so a bit of a sweetness than regular pancakes but nice and fluffy. A great meal on their own, but we did get the big breakfast with eggs, home fries, bacon and toast. Nice hearty meal. We also got the breakfast quesadilla, loaded with fillings. Great taste as well, the tortilla had nice bite and crunch but everything inside was moist and tasty. Looking forward to trying some more items off the menu! read more

Stayed at the lodge for two nights. The highlight was waking up each morning and smelling breakfast. WOW. So each morning I stumbled out of bed, threw on some clothes, and made my way to the bistro. We went to Acorn Hill Bistro today. We were greatly disappointed. We had a reservation for four. The hostess told us she had to clear a table while there were several tables that were empty. After more than 15 minutes we had to remind her that we were still waiting for our table. We had to give her our names again and she said oh your table is over there. While we were waiting to be seated she sat a table of 8. After waiting for at least another 15 minutes I had to go ask for menus. We only got 3 menus for the four of us. It was at least 30 minutes after that we finally saw a waitress. Once we finally put in our drink order we waiting another 15 minutes. Our waitress was so inattentive that we had to wait to flag someone down so that we could get straws for our drinks. When our food finally came, only half of the table was served. The rest of the food sat in the serving window. We had to ask for the one side that was never served. The food was mediocre. The eggs Benedict were good. However the potatoes were not cooked enough and were so hard they were not edible. Our waitress never returned to our table except to bring the bill. She had a bit of an attitude with us and just didn't seem to care a bit. Definitely did not deserve a tip. The table of eight that was seated before us after 1 1/2 hours still hadn't gotten their food. For a Mother's Day brunch they severely let us down. Worst service I have ever experienced. Update: I should have mentioned that the meal is a great value. Very inexpensive considering all. We had a nice brunch here and enjoyed our visit with our daughter. I don't think one comes here to rush through a meal, but it is not a good place if you want to spend a long time either. The meal itself is average. The Hollandaise sauce comes from a package or is just not well made, but the bacon and eggs were good. They DO poach them well but could be a little more runny. Coffee and water refills are included if you can get someone to actually fill your glasses. Again we enjoyed our visit but I found it crowded and a bit slow. I eat with my family. And some times half the food would come out and we would be waiting 45 minutes for the rest. And when it came it was cold and weirdly made. Wet toast. Mushy pancakes. Setting was pleasant and comfortable: white linen on the tables- need to lose the silk flowers. Even a single bloom in a bud vase would be an improvement. Now, the food. Warning: I'm particular.
