Community preview in exploring Main Street Kutztown. Decided on the fly to stop into The Bagel Bar Cafe on a Saturday morning, around 11am. This will be a regular run through for us. The shop is quaint but not crowded, with some outdoor seating. We decided quickly on an iced latte and an iced chai. I wanted to nibble and my husband took to a breakfast sandwich. Service was quick (10 minutes), but prepared thoughtfully. We bought some sticker merch and enjoyed the cute surroundings as we waited. The drinks were pleasing- not too espresso forward and not too milky. Just tasty and enjoyable. The lemonade macaroon was fun with the gummy peach ring, however didn't have forward flavor. The bite was there, crisp and fluffy and at least not super sweet. A good nibble offering. My husband enjoyed his bacon, egg and cheese bagel sandwich. Fresh, clean and flavorful- especially the Asiago bagel it was on. A little funk to the cheese in that Asiago, which was great! The service staff was kind and actually brought us each item as it was prepared rather than our having to stand near the counter. All and all this will be a happy Welcome to the Neighborhood spot for us!!! read more

Found this by kind of accident looking for another breakfast spot. It's a nice quaint interior offering seating and take out. Staff is very friendly and they offer a nice drink and breakfast menu (bagel related). Cappuccino and Mocha and bagel breakfast sandwiches all done right. read more

I have Kutztown Uni to thank for this downtown gem. Me, my girlfriend and her roommates go out every Friday for the last two years here for breakfast. They have an abundance of breakfast sandwiches, a plethora of bagels to choose from and amazing cream cheeses on top of monthly drink specials and smooth creamy smoothies. Any time we go in we either order on toast or order at the counter. Food and drinks are usually done within 15-20 minutes as they are busy on Fridays- which is awesome for a small business thriving after30 years. We are always greeted with a Smile especially by Jimmy, the coolest guy working. Atmosphere is calm and casual, quiet but can get rowdy at times. It's always a good time here. Place definite deserves more than 3.9 score review. read more

Their food is okay, overall. I've had quite a few of their bagels and cream cheese spreads, and I've enjoyed them overall. I like their coffee, but I don't think it's any better than any chain restaurant like Dunkin or Starbucks. However, I do really enjoy their seasonal menus. They aren't afraid to switch things up and try new items. I think that's fun and really adds to the charm of a small business. However, the wait times really get me. I waited almost 40 minutes for a bagel, untoasted, with a side of cream cheese. All they had to do was literally cut a bagel in half and add some cream cheese. What a great find. I was in the area traveling and used YELP to find this gem on Main street. The bagels were fantastic, even the Gluten Free. They have plenty of flavors to suit everyone. I discovered this place years ago as a student at the university and now they have become our go to breakfast spot. They are very careful to operate safely during COVID and still offer good food and very reasonable prices. We order online with the Joe app and our food is always ready when we arrive & exactly what we ordered. They do get busy on the weekends so ordering ahead on the app is the way to go. Their bagels are the best I've found in Berks county by far. I've tried many of their drink specials (some are a bit sweet for me) but I always go back to the cold brew. read more

This place is superb! Adorable setup - though strictly outside. It is also a very self-serve type joint. They have a gluten free bagel option which is much appreciated. I got the veggie gluten free bagel and it was delicious! Generous amounts of veggie cream cheese with various cold veggies on top. Don't write this place off as breakfast only - many of the options would be good for lunch or a casual dinner option. I can't wait to go back. My god, THE BAGEL BAR!! I have held back on trying this place for years because I thought it would not live up to the hype but I have never been so wrong. I got The Swiss Gobbler which was a specialty bagel and it was phenomenal. Such fresh ingredients. For a wake up, I got the Iced Peanut Brittle Crunch and it was amazing! Bagel Bar food, specifically their breakfast sandwiches, have a unique taste I'm trying to replicate as I write this eccentric review. I've attempted every ingredient known to man, from turmeric to sheep's blood, but no dice. There's just something special about it that keeps me going back. I heart me a good poppy bagel with sausage, egg, and cheese. Yummy in my tummy. Their iced coffee is, for the most part, a plus. However, there are times I've ordered cold brew coffee only for the ice in the cup to melt. Wait times. There's not much that can be done to fix it, the BBC is just understaffed. If there's a line of more than 4, expect a 15-20 minute wait for ya tummy yummies. Your order can get pricey (around 8 dollars for a cheap sandwich, coffee combo), so threaten a stranger with a sharp object for extra change. Win win. More often than not, you'll have a good experience. There's also like, no one else in town that offers the Bagel assortment they do, so they're your only option! read more

This place was the most ridiculous experience of my life. We came in to barricades separating us from the kitchen and order counter. They have put a whole process in place that keeps you from speaking to a person and ask instead for you to walk outside down an alley and order through a window, call their telephone number, or order on a mobile app. Meanwhile an entire staff hangs out behind the barriers. The process to order online took forever. There's no way to know if your food is ready without having to go outside, walk down the alley, and check the take out window. Once we decided it might be ready we walked outside, down the alley and stood at the window to be told by what seemed like an owner to ring a bell for someone to help us. After ringing the bell the rude worker seemed confused and told us to wait a little longer, outside in the cold only to walk back around the corner and through the alley to sit inside all while a counter was 10 feet away behind a barricade with a "no peeking" sign. This was so foolish, especially 2 years into a pandemic when everything else is open again. Besides this, though the food was good, it wasn't $40 good, for three bagel sandwiches and three bottled drinks. We paid for customizations we never got. Besides this... here's the kicker... there was a service fee for ordering online!!! Come on people. Never would I recommend this place or come here again. read more

The bagel bar is such a staple with me and my friends. We go here often and love their seasonal drinks. I'm taking away a star thought because the past 4-5 times we went, there was always something messed up with our order. I give them all the credit because they are understaffed and it's hard to work in an understaffed environment, but most of their orders are online so they shouldn't be messed up every-time I go. I didn't like bagel that much before I got to know about the Bagel Bar Cafe. There are quite many options that you can choose from, either sweet bagels or salty bagels (like the one with tuna). Great espresso beverages, a nice tea selection, courteous staff, and a nice atmosphere -- cant ask for much more. Actually you can, you can ask for great wifi and you'd still be impressed. I came here on a hot summer day looking for a cold drink and some wifi (cell service in the area can be pretty bad) and I was happy to come across The Bagel Bar Cafe. Sadly, I did not order a bagel, but the selection looked tasty. My coffee was pretty great however and gave me just the kick I needed to survive my afternoon. Bonus points for clean bathrooms and a wifi password that isn't hidden in invisible ink on your receipt (it was visible on the condiment bar). read more

I haven't found a true bagel joint since we moved from Florida 1 year ago. Today was the day. With my daughter off from school and me off also we ventured outside of the norm. I thought it would be some rinky dink place and to my surprise this place is cool and we loved the atmosphere. And now the food!! The coffee variety was broad and the bagel selections were the best I have seen in a long time. I decided on the french roast double coffee and am loving it. I also am loving the western omelet with bacon on a salt bagel. My daughter went with cream cheese on a multigrain bagel including the local chocolate milk and she's loving it. Waited over 45 minutes for a coffee, while I was waiting, staff got every single order wrong for every customer ahead of me. Lack of communication and hands down the worst service. After 45 minutes, we had to leave and the business just kept my money. Unbelievable. read more

No other place I'd go to for breakfast in the area/surrounding area. Breakfast sandwiches are great and priced pretty well. Its awesome that you can call it in ahead to avoid the wait. I miss the fact that you could order, wait, then pay. I guess the newer students can't really be trusted which is a shame.
