Was in town for a concert at the university and loving diner food, we decided to check out. Great atmosphere. Service was excellent and VERY attentive. The owner or manager was on site and he was working the room, making sure guests were all comfortable. I had ham steak with pineapple and it was really good. Something my husband I never had was lettuce with hot bacon dressing. Sounded too good not to ty and glad we did. Husband had the Amish Pot Pie and practically licked the bowl clean. Service was unacceptable. Took 20 minutes from being seated to get drinks. Food ordered was wings (7) in each order of 2 and what was supposedly supposed to be a cobb salad. Cobb salad with no tomatoes, cucumbers, blue cheese crumbles, just a big ole pile of iceberg lettuce with some spinach mixed through topped with rubber like chicken slices and a egg sliced for $13.99. Coffee was not refilled we had to keep asking for everything. Last time here as it's a shame the quality has went down drastically. Solid breakfast. Had the California omelette, swapped cheddar for feta so it was more like the Greek but with more veggies. Omelette was hot, full and large. I was disappointed that the airport was closed, but that doesn't mean the food here wasn't super good. I got here early as I was going down the street to look at at car. Since I had never been here I asked for a recommendation and was told to get this huge breakfast. This is one of the first times I couldn't finish my meal. We came here on a Saturday morning for breakfast in Kutztown. I had an omelette with a side of sausage. The omelette was hot and the eggs were fluffy. Additionally, there was plenty of filling in the omelette including plenty of cheese. For me, the more filling, the better. The sausage was good as well. There was plenty of coffee available and the server was happy to refill it. The decor was typical diner decor. There really does not seem to be a place big enough in Kutztown to accommodate a party of 4 besides this diner. The staff was attentive and friendly, and the food was delivered quickly. The bottom line is this was an okay breakfast restaurant, and probably the only choice in Kutztown if you have a party bigger than 2 to spread out and comfortably eat. During this Covid contagion, the diner, of course, has take-away. They've now put out nicely shaded tables with wait service outdoors. In front parking lot. No excuse now. Get some of the best diner food anywhere with the nicest wait servers. And management. Super glad they are survivers who have adapted to these difficult times. Support them. read more

A good old school roadside diner. Good breakfasts, conveniently located to the farmers market/reningers.

Lot's of people there early, so in general food, service, etc. mut be ok. But my salmon croquettes were terrible. They were 99% mashed potatoes (and served on mashed potatoes). So if you love mashed potatoes maybe you would like them. I searched through them carefully, but found only a few small pieces of something pink which didn't taste bad but also didn't taste like salmon. Based on the number of people there, most of their items must be much, much better. My review is about the salmon croquettes - nothing else. read more

Can't really comment on the food since we were completely ignored and never served. We went on a Sunday afternoon. The host seemed put out that we were there. But we continued on, maybe he was having a bad day. We were seated at a table in the middle, with only 2 other diners there. One was in a booth on one side of us, and some people at a table on the other side. A male server went to the booth and the female to the table. Both completely ignored us. We thought maybe each thought the other was serving us. So we waited, no one came and both servers were nowhere to be found. Lo and behold some people came to the booth recently vacated and the male server came right out to them, got them water and drinks. We were invisible. After bringing them drinks, he disappeared again. We decided to leave, walking right past the host, and the 2 servers sitting on stools at the counter talking and never even looked up as we passed them. Unbelievable! It was the Twilight Zone. Will NOT visit again Some local business employees said place use to be better. What a shame! The food was mostly bland and reheated, probably in a microwave. Turkey with stuffed mashed potatoes. Deceiving! It's thin sliced compressed deli Turkey and mashed potatoes with celery that tasted awful. Meatloaf sliced less than 1/2 inch thick was nuked multiple times, dry and tasteless. The seafood bisque had a good flavor despite the nasty parsley mixed throughout. Fresh Parsley is ok as a garnish once plated but not mixed in. Shame this was reheated in a microwave to LUKE WARM; probably from refrigerated temp; leaving it quite lumpy. Waitress not helpful, couldn't explain what stuffed mashed potatoes were. She had no good preference; assuming she doesn't eat there. Was given mildly sweetened seltzer water instead of Sprite; informed the waitress and she said tasted normal to her. I said she probably need to replace the Syrup unit and she said it was same as usual. It's a shame then that the restaurant has opened a valve and turned the syrup flow control to dispense less, hence ruining a meal with a bad taste of soda water. Not a comfortable atmosphere. The lunch counter was cluttered, one section at the main entry, was duct taped and a 'silverware folding station only' sign on it. Fold them during night prep or at a secluded corner table, but keep the counter inviting. The staff beverage/condiments station was messy and dirty. And how off putting to have slot machines in the lavatory vestibule. read more

1.5 stars, rounded up for no good reason. I am giving this diner a second star only because I save my one star reviews for experiences that make me physically ill. My mother, friends, and I ate here during the Kutztown Folk Festival. The festival ended each night at 8pm, leaving us with little choice in what we might find for dinner. We decided to eat at the Airport Diner because we thought there might be some vegetables available. We were disappointed when we discovered that the day's vegetable choices were 3 types of potato, corn, or lima beans. Ah well, a little starch with our starch never hurt anyone (except my diabetic mother, but she ordered a pork chop and simply ignored the vegetable choices.) My son and I decided to share the Shepard's Pie, one of our favorite dishes. The waitress agreed that sharing was a great idea, as she had "...never had anyone finish a whole order." What were we thinking? When the plate arrived, we discovered salty ground beef under a thick layer of mashed potatoes, all topped with brown gravy. No vegetables, no seasoning other than salt, nothing beyond beef and potato. I ate my sides of corn and lima beans, my boy peeled the gravy from the top and ate the mashed potatoes, and we handed the plate back to the waitress. She offered to pack the remainder up for later and we both simply laughed. When she asked what we thought I replied that it had been edible...and then she walked away. Thankfully she did not ask questions of anyone else at the table. The rest of our meal was eaten without interruption. When she realized that the "Dutch Crab Cake" (a crab cake set atop a plate of mashed potato.) was heading back to the kitchen virtually untouched, she gave up and asked if we wanted pie. Only after she admitted that the pie was store bought did we agree to take a slice home, and sure enough it was the best few bites of our meal. There are better diners within a 20 mile drive. Airport Diner appears to be the only game in town when it's a Federal holiday and everything else is closed. Seriously, where do the people of Kutztown go on Memorial Day? Anyway, it was on that evening when I found myself at this diner. Pretty much the entire menu at this diner falls within the comfort food category. There isn't anything too exciting. You can get breakfast any time, of course, and aside from that, there are the usual chicken, beef and pork platters, and most of the common sandwiches. I tried the pork and sauerkraut since I've never had that at any diner before. Service was very good. My server was attentive and pretty good at offering suggestions when I could not decide. And finally, prices were fairly reasonable, which may give this small-town diner a bit of an edge over restaurants in nearby Reading. read more

I've been coming here since forever. Turned 21 in the late 80's and this was the main stay at 2am after a night of partying on Main St. I've had many different things on the menu over the years, and most are decent. A couple of favorites are the Belgian Waffles and the S.O.S, we mostly eat breakfast here. This morning I had Steak and Eggs for the first time ever here and I'm not sure if I've ever eaten a better piece of steak for breakfast. It almost had the Black Diamond feel and it was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I've found my new favorite order for breakfast! The food was OK, nothing to write home about. I thought the value was good. Our waitress, Laura M., was so very nice and quite attentive, checking back often to see how we were doing. I am glad I tipped her well. Upon checking out, I went up to two waitresses and the host, who was an older man. After standing there like a fool for a minute while two waitresses and the host were standing behind the counter chatting and ignoring me even though I clearly made eye contact, the one waitress finally told me I could get checked out at the counter behind me. The host said he was waiting for me, but he was just as involved in the conversation. I paid using my card, and I told him I left the tip in cash on the table. He said nothing. I signed on the pad (he just turned in toward me without saying anything), and when my receipt was printed, he didn't say anything except, "There," so I tore it off and left. Food is not terrible but not great. Service was good I really liked our waitress. But the reason I'm giving this 2 stars is because of how some of the staff wears their masks. I'm not sure if he's the manager or owner but there is this main thats always upfront and wears the mask under his nose. It defeats the purpose of wearing one.
