Disappointed Again We are always deceived when we see an event posted on Facebook because, unfortunately, it's almost always a bust. We came in on Friday expecting to enjoy the event, but it was a very disappointing experience. It wasn't even busy, yet the service was some of the worst we've experienced. Servers were standing around talking to each other and on their phones instead of checking on tables. Our server was standing at the kitchen entrance on her phone, and when it was finally time to leave, it took over 30 minutes just to get our check. The table behind us was also getting frustrated with how long everything was taking. We understand that restaurants can have busy nights, but this wasn't one of them. When there are only a few tables and staff are standing around, there really isn't an excuse for such poor service. Unfortunately, this seems to be a recurring issue whenever we come after seeing an event advertised on Facebook. The Ball Park in Blaine is such a great restaurant and bar! The service is always top tier shoutout to my favorite bartenders, Becca and Tristan. The drinks are consistently delicious, and my go-to is the pumpkin spice espresso martini so yummy and perfect for fall vibes. They also do fun events and collabs. I went to their Pilates, Pints, and Pumpkins event where we did Pilates, carved pumpkins, and enjoyed pumpkin spice martinis afterward. Such a cool way to celebrate the season! Plus, they have a huge beer wall and even Screwball on tap perfect for catching a game. On Wednesdays, they host trivia followed by karaoke later in the evening. Service was great, food was good. We enjoyed the walleye & the wild thing burger. Great spice to the burger! Walleye had excellent breading. Nice selection for kids menu. Fun drink selection, seasonal was a nice touch. The batting simulator was just ok, doesn't pick up on grounders and just overall not very exciting, wouldn't return to do that but it was fun to try once. Kids enjoyed the arcade but it was very expensive and the claw machines are the type that shake the item and aren't strong enough to carry them to the drop which just disappoints. Parking is easy. The restaurant is so cool! They have an area where they sell memorabilia, batting cages, their bar and restaurant. They also have an outside patio area with a fire place. The staff were very friendly. We came a little later into the night and their kitchen was still open. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with truffle fries and it was absolutely delicious! read more

Fun place for a birthday celebration. We had a huge party of 24 and reserved 2 batting cage bats side-by-side. Service was a bit slow since we had such a large party, but I had no complaints there. We had some of their complimentary popcorn while we waited for our food. However, I was disappointed that we only got to play 60 minutes even though our reservation was as for 90 minutes because they weren't ready when we arrived. Food was just ok ( food was 3/5 stars, drinks were 4/5) and prices were on par with other family restaurants. My hubby enjoyed the "Pour Decisions" self-pour beer option. I liked the full bar with several Mocktail options. Batting cages were decent. Pitches came out once every 8 seconds. Softball and baseball options and you can adjust speed pitch easily. You can just tap home plate to pause and resume. Ambiance was nice and on-theme with the sports bar vibes. read more

I love the concept of this place, but unfortunately they're far from hitting a home run. From the moment we arrived, cleanliness was an issue. The bathroom trash cans were overflowing, with paper towels scattered across the floor. The couch at our bay had food both in and on it, and the trash can right next to our table was also overflowing. Combined with the hot and muggy temperature inside, it didn't make for a very comfortable experience. The service was equally disappointing. Our server frequently disappeared, and we had to find silverware and napkins from other tables because none were provided. We asked for extra plates and never received them. Later, when we requested boxes for leftovers, we waited nearly 30 minutes before finally tracking down our server and getting them ourselves. The bar area wasn't much better. The bartender spent several minutes talking with another patron while customers waited for service. The glasses near the beer wall were visibly dirty, forcing us to sort through multiple glasses before finding one that was clean enough to use. The overall layout and management of the space also need improvement. Despite being a large venue, it felt unnecessarily crowded. A birthday party was placed in the two simulator bays directly next to us while several bays on the other side sat empty. The simulator area was extremely loud, and it would be helpful to have designated party times or areas separate from smaller groups looking for a more relaxed experience. The seating arrangement around the simulators is another drawback. The couches take up valuable space and make it difficult for groups to sit together and eat comfortably. A table surrounded by chairs would be much more practical. Because we never received the extra plates we requested, several people in our group ended up standing to eat since there wasn't enough room for everyone at the table. Another thing to note is that they add your simulator onto your bill and then suggest a tip amount for the total bill. The problem with that is, two different people set you up on the simulator and serve the table. We tipped in cash and didn't think about this until after. I am going to bet that the tip was not shared. We were genuinely excited to try this place and drove 45 minutes to visit for my son's birthday. Unfortunately, between the cleanliness issues, poor service, overcrowded atmosphere near the simulators, and uncomfortable setup, the experience was disappointing enough that we won't be returning. read more

We've been wanting to check this place out with friends, but alas could never get everyone's schedule to line up, so 2 of us went alone. We rented one of the HitTrax bays for 30 minutes. There wasn't much information given on how to work them- they just kind of set the timer and let us go. We are far from professional so it was ~fine~ but I wish we could have customized it a bit. There is no way to pause the timer - which I understand to a point, you don't want people sitting for hours - but it'd be nice if you could pause for 5-10 minutes to change up batters, order food/have a drink, etc. Also of note, I think the pitcher is too close and makes it difficult to react/hit. (or maybe its just me!) When we were first sat at our bay/table we were asked if we wanted to order food/drinks. We ordered a couple sodas and then said that we wanted to order food after our bay time was up. Except once that happened we waited a LONG time for someone to come take our order. It wasn't clear who was a server and who was just working the bay. At one point someone said we were going to be moved to a table away from the bay (which I would have been fine with) but then people just kind of disappeared. Once we finally were able to order our food came out at different times. Kind of annoying but the server did discount the delayed food unprompted. I had the Korean chicken sandwich and it was ok but VERY saucy and messy. I am glad I wasn't trying to bat while dealing with sticky hands. I felt like the ambiance could have been a bit nicer (especially the dining area away from the bays) - it sort of just felt like tables were tossed into a gymnasium with no thought. And it's LOUD. But overall I think it'd be a fun place for a group if they iron out some of the kinks. read more

This place was fun to try out and a neat concept. A little pricey at $60 an hour for the bays. The food was just OK and all of the food that we ordered mostly appetizers came out at different times which was a little odd. It was nice to have the beer wall where you could fill up your own and try different beers paying by the ounce. The free popcorn was a nice touch while we waited for the food to come. This restaurant is nice and big. It was not very busy when we came as bingo had just ended. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Fun place! Good place for rainy cold days. Full food menu and bar. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable with explaining how the bays work. Just about 20 minutes north of downtown something awesome has blossomed in the heart of my beloved Blaine. Since this is a "First Review" I must be slightly thorough. The Ball Park is the latest destination to combine sports entertainment and the physically active lifestyle with serious eats. From full traditional batting cages to cutting edge HitTrax suites (imagine golf simulators but with baseballs coming at ya hot!) the friends and family will be entertained for hours. But let's get down to business and my area of study: gastronomically grading grub. First, the ambiance is a perfect match for those looking for a modern elevated activity-associated restaurant. There is a full service bar which serves everything from mojitos to a ya can't have just one Cracker Jack old fashioned. The service is quick, kind, and knowledgeable. My kid never had to wait more than 60 seconds to be asked for a refill (and I paid for it based on her bedtime last night ). For apps: the San Francisco Garlic Fries were my kid's choice and she stated "dad, these are better than the ones at the state fair because they have a taste of cheese too." She's referring to the parm shake on top but the fries were crisp and hot and the garlic was unmistakeable, maybe a bit milder than the fair's but it was top notch according to my miniature foodie. Then we went for the umami glazed Rochester Red Wings. The wings were steaming hot, very moist, and the skin had just enough crisp on them and not overdone. The umami glaze is on the sweet side but the pure size of these wings balances well. For reference, I ate 3 wings but it felt like 5 or 6, so either they're gonna have to raise the prices on us or decrease the number of wings because I felt like I was getting way too good of a deal, get it while ya can! The star app for me was the Chicken and Waffle Bites. The waffle cone (more of a bowl) was crunchy and with just the right hint of sweetness. The chicken was crisp and savory which complimented the waffle cone. Very reminiscent of one of my fav's from The Blue Barn at the great MN get together. Now that's where the similarities end because the blue cheese chantilly was so airy and light with just a hint of funk that I was worried this cloud of goodness would lift off my table and return to the heavens. I caught myself eating this almost air whipped-like blue cheese with just my fork at least twice! For entrees my kid had the kids cheeseburger with bacon and regular fries. She stated that the meat patty tasted good and felt good to the chew and there was a lot of tasty crispy bacon, but she preferred the garlic fries over the regular ones. Now for the entree which I shall judge thee...I've had dozens and dozens of what some call "Korean chicken sandwiches" but there's always things that are required by my palette to make it satisfying. First, the sweet and spicy usually from a concoction of gochujang (shoutout to my brother Matt who was in Korea last week for resupplying me with the goodies!). Then the kimchi. Let's start with the chicken: perfectly crisp and tender. The umami glaze gave the sweetness required and the "fresh kimchi" had a very light pickling which made it approachable for even my 6 year old date. There wasn't the fermented funk and tangy sourness kimchi aficionados strive for but the slight acidity and crispy veggies helped tone down the rich sweetness of the umami glazed chicken. The bun was solid and toasted just enough to hold up to the juiciness between and the house chips had a nice salty seasoning similar to a blend of Old Bay and Tony Chachere's (where my Cajuns at?!) At this point I thought it was a decent Korean chicken sandwich but it was slacking on what an Asian foodie that usually enjoys dancing on the 4 outta 5 Thai heat scale. Where's the heat??? I spoke too soon...out came what they call "Spicy Ghost Pepper Sambal." Dunked my sando and...Ohhh lawdy lawd! Ticking off a few notches on the Scoville scale, I proceeded to profusely sweat for the next 16 minutes as the deliciousness of the spicy, sweet and almost delectable fruitiness of the sambal came to play ball! Korean chicken sandwich achieved and that sambal is 100% Asian grandma approved. Overall, this new joint is great as a friend and family outing with active sporting and fun. With all the flat screens and full bar it's a solid choice for a night out. The restaurant serves a ton of flavor, variety and freshness. I can't wait to return to try more of the menu and look forward to the kitchen continuing to hit out of...The Ball Park! read more

We impromptu went on a very busy Thursday night (bingo 1K coverall) with our kids to swing some bats, have drinks, and grab a few apps - and our expectations were exceeded. The owner personally greeted us, our server checked in continuously to ask if we needed anything, and we had the best time playing virtual baseball with our kids. The setup for the bays is great they have comfy couches for the kids backed up to high tops for the adults and food. We will be back soon to avenge the bays and enjoy more of the wings and beer wall. Some of the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant. Once seated, took over 20 minutes to get a water....and that only happened because we asked the bartender if there were any waiter/waitresses. Every step of the way, we had to ask the service people: if we could order food, if we could get a beer card, if we could get silverware (once the food finally arrived), and lastly if we could pay the bill. Multiple tables around us had dirty dishes and empty bottles on the table the entire time we were there. At least 3 other parties walked out before ordering. read more

I wanted to share my frustration we had this past Saturday. My husband tried to reserve a bay the week before and called multiple times without an answer. Finally able to connect with someone via chat to set up a reservation for my birthday. The person on the chat took forever to reply, and when they did, they asked us the times we wanted and for how many people, so my husband told the person that what times we wanted and for 10 people. The person never replied. My husband then tried to call the number on the website multiple times, again, with no answer. We show up for my birthday just to find no reservation reserved, BUT the hostess still seated us by a simulator bay. The waiter brought us menus and asked for our order. We wanted to make sure we had the bay for two hours, so the waiter went to the front and, indeed, confirmed we had no reservation and all the bays were reserved for the rest of the night. He said sorry and offered us a complimentary round of drinks, which we politely declined. I was frustrated and upset. The one thing I wanted to do for my birthday, I never got to do. The set up is unorganized. No one answering the phones, and no one messaging us back to confirm the reservation. Unsure if we'll try going back again. read more

We were shown to a table and when I asked where the menu was the hostess pointed to this code thing on the table and said we can order with our cell phone. HA HA HA.
