I have no idea what Blainbrook is like now, but I went there in 1978 and had a lovely time, despite having a terrible blistering sunburn from drinking all night (days before) and then laying all day in the sun slathered in baby oil and iodine (a blonde tanned woman lent this to me, a pale redhead). The blonde woman's friend who took me there said if I wasn't hobbling around with blisters behind my knees, he would make me dance. So we just sat back and had a nice time talking in the great atmosphere. I remember it looked nice too. It sounds like it's still a great place to go. I saw in some reviews that it had retro arcade games, and I hope that's still true. I grew up in the arcade atmosphere, and I still want a Galaga arcade game when I have room and money. :) read more

This is a great place! It has so much and feels like a small town bar so there is great people watching. A friend and I came to play pool and have some drinks. We played a couple games and then went to the bar/restaurant area to eat. I got the mini corn dogs and loaded fries, both were great and you got a lot of corn dogs for the price! My friend enjoyed her california burger. We also got drinks, much more reasonably priced than the cities. We really enjoy Blainbrook Bowl and Sports Bar. The Entertainment Center is referring to the banquet hall on the same property. Nice venue for large groups The bowling alley is very nice, lanes in good shape and great staff. The sports bar is just that. Lots of TVs, high top tables, 3 separate bars (not always all open) and a huge game room with pool tables and video games. Also they have more pinball machines than I've ever seen in an establishment. We had lunch in the bar. Great burgers, tots, fries etc. I had a turkey club on cranberry wild rice bread. Very nice! Our server was fantastic and we didn't have to wait for any beverages or food requests. And a bonus for me, they have PBR in bottles. Yup! read more

Experience was okay overall. As for the bill, we received a bill that wasn't separated and had a 20% gratuity charge added on which wasn't visible. The bill we received had an added tip on (not visible) and still asked for an additional tip. It was a very sketchy payment process, If we hadn't asked for an itemized receipt, we would have never seen these charges. If attending, ask for an itemized bill, which will show the automatic tip added on. It was our first time here and it left a very sour taste in our mouths. read more

This a such a fun place to go for drinks and a good time with friends or family. The place is huge! We came here for drinks and games on a Sunday night, St. Patty's Day actually. It was fairly busy because of this but usually it's pretty quiet. There are four nice pool tables that are two dollars per game. They are located in the arcade area where there are numerous pinball machines to play, and I mean at least two rows to choose from. They also have other arcade games, including claw machines, buck hunter, etc. Poker was happening this particular Sunday night. We also went bowling. It was only $6 for shoes and six games of cosmic bowling!! Isn't that crazy?? That is so cheap! The drinks are made pretty strong and tasty which is always a plus. We did not try any food this night, but they have a big menu of food if you are hungry. Everyone working here is friendly and services you if you're down bowling too. When we went the waitress informed me their "grill was down" I opened my mouth to ask additional questions and she turned on her heel and stormed off. Plus the game itself has some fantastic pin action. My usual routine is this: Get a beer. Find a machine and load up some credits. Play like mad. Ball drains. Give the machine a bump and cuss as I try to save it. Undo my pinball stance and step aside. Take a drink from previously mentioned beer. Watch my bud as he has his run. Repeat. My neighbor and compadre go bowling weekly, usually on Thursday afternoon. Our routine is to bowl about 2-3 games, order food, and play a few Pulltabs. We want to share the laurels of "Jenny," the bartender who we cannot say too much about; she's wonderful. She tends to a bar, plays a waitress, and keeps all of her customers happy. WE LOVE JENNY! We just had an experience and the Ol Piper Inn in Blaine, which was terrible customer service, an incident that the manager on evenings was totally unwilling even to explore, and then the day manager Kiley came off like my complaint was simply a customer "whining" bout poor service. Over the years, the owners have put some money into the place. New tile floors, new TV's with high def DIRECTV, and they moved a wall to make the bar bigger. It's still has most of its old charm, but is a much nicer place to be. Still a good value for happy hour drinks. However, the food has gotten very expensive, and in some cases inconsistent in quality. This is the only thing they really need to improve on. Overall it is a good place to hang out. Went to this establishment on a Thursday night for some appetizers and drinks. Bowling seemed like a lot of fun and it really is impressive just how many games there are! I liked the food (sampler) but the reason this is getting such a low score was because of the service. Our waitress came and took our drink orders and disappeared for about 10 minutes. When she came back with our drinks, she took our food order. Again, we only ordered appetizers but it took a lot longer than expected. When we were done, our plates sat there until we asked for boxes to go. She brought back one bill without asking if it needed to be split, which it did. No box. She came back with the separate bills. No box. She tossed our bills at the table which just added to my irritation because SHE STILL DIDN'T BRING ME A BOX! I will have to try this again but I hope that there will be better service. I joined my brother and his friends for beverages. I was not that hungry but decided to try the queso. I heard the cherch and Chong burger was the best. So they order it and I tasted it. It was so good! The queso needs a little onion or jalapeno but its tasty! The service was good, drinks were priced well for happy hour and I think I might bowl here sometime! Easily the largest pinball machine collection I've been able to find in the Minneapolis area. They have a handful of typical bar-beat-up arachnid Galaxy 2 dart boards. Those are saddled with about 10 classic arcade games (asteroids, centipede, but the rest appeared to be a handful of hacks). They have a nice GT2015 Live, Deal no Deal, the rest is can't remember. Food was typical bar burgers, fried stuff, and some other conventional dinner items (ribs, prime rib, etc) that I generally avoid when I'm in a bar. They have about 12 beers on tap. Service was pretty good. Decor is your average bar with 80's influence and music in the background. They have 24 bowling lanes, but we didn't go there to bowl. Make sure you take notice, the pins take quarters. So don't dump your cash in the wrong change/exchange machines. They have two for tokens only and two for quarters. We didn't make that mistake, but if it's your first time, ask for help like we did. Prior to asking for help, both change/quarter machines were lit "out of order". The condition of their pins are a mix of good and so-so. The Rudy in the Funhouse doesn't talk, the play field of the 8-ball deluxe was shredded, their Freddy was titled and my in-experienced wife dropped $1 in it before she noticed. The Monster Bash, Attack from Mars and another had a nice color DMD upgrade and played nice. They have a nice Wizard of Oz, but I must stink at this game because my games lasted less than 2 minutes and all it did was gobble our money faster than we could blink. Maybe we just had a bad night, but golly I've never seen so many unlucky drains in my life. The pins/flippers played un-usually fast and on more than several occasions we lost balls on play resume where the balls seemed aimed right thru the flipper gap. I was really enjoying Whirlwind and oops, ball pops up and jams in between a ramp and toy. I tried to get it loose, and the machine tilts. People seemed to really be enjoying the new Kiss table. Overall we had a fun time and we will be back sometime. read more

He turned his head around and rudely said, "hey I'm talking here." It just seemed like we were an inconvenience to him, when he could have simply said that he would help us soon when we got there, instead of completely ignoring us until we said something and then responding rudely. 've been going to Blainbrook for about two years now and there's been two instances where it has failed to exceed customer service. The first one happened about a year ago with their bartender name Dede/Dee. I politely asked, if they had a menu and she rudely responded " We dont have a menu and I dont have time to tell you our whole menu, there's other people waiting, it's not just you! ". It was a simple question that could've been dealt with better customer service and manners. Second instance, happened this year when the guy at the front desk (much younger gentlemen) told me that there was going to be a wait. There were no resistance there as I understood peak hours were happening. I've waited for about an hour and I saw that there were two new customers he was consulting with, asking for lanes. Before I knew it those two customers were placed in a lane before me. It seems like blainbrook hasnt changed in customer service with my tenure there. A bummer because it's a local alley for me. There's no problems with the lanes/for me. Owner seems nice but their staff seriously needs a lot of work. If you go, dont be surprise if customer service is bad. read more

Great place for bowling. Super friendly staff. Love Keith the main counter person. The alley is a little dated when it comes to the layout. They are working hard to update. And they do have a few employees that only work their because their parents own the place. I say this because they talk to you like they are doing you a favor by being their. One has even yelled at me. The rest of the staff makes up for those few. I would go here over the one down the street. If you want to bowl. The food is your standard bar food. My family visited Blainbrook on a Sunday morning right at 9. Staff members were friendly and helpful, bowling in the mornings is super cheap and the place was clean. Its a really old building but the bowling area is pretty well updated. We played with a 2.5 year old and the bumpers popped up just at his turn and they had plenty of ramps for little ones to use. PINBALL MACHINE ALERT!! Literally they have 50 machines from old to new! It's a bar, bowling alley and arcade all in one! The food is your typical bar food and it's always good. Service is solid (Mary is the bomb) and they are experienced. They have a ton of games to play from old school to new. The bowling alley is solid and they have a ton of lanes. Pool tables too.
