Ok, this is rude but this place just has to be a health code nightmare. Mind you the food was great, but the walkup made me cringe. The mop sink out back, was a mess and I can only suspect how bad the bathrooms are due to me watching a lady walk in and then quickly walk back out with a concerned look on her face. Stopped by the Bunnell location bc I had work in the area. It's always been on my list, to try their famous Fish Sandwich. It was definitely worth the stop. If you are hungry and you want a fish sandwich and you have a cast iron digestive system, then the Bantam Chef Famous Fish Sandwich is for you. It is really big. I could not count how many pieces of fried fish are in this sandwich but it's a lot. To be honest, it's not really that greasy (to their credit), but there are just so many pieces of fish in there, that even a small amount of cooking oil per piece adds up. I was able to monitor the location of that sandwich in my digestive system over approximately 11 hours. Probably good to bring a fork as the sandwich sort of loses structural integrity as you eat it. No need to order the hush puppies. No flavor and I'm going to go out on a limb and say they might be from a restaurant supply company. Nothing about them was remotely flavorful. Good luck. read more

I was looking forward to the Famous Fish Sandwich as the reviews on Yelp were great and the pictures certainly made the sandwich appealing. However, I was deeply disappointed. While the sandwich was a monster as the pictures reflected, the fish pieces were so thin and dry they were just plain chewy. Many were not edible so I removed them and tossed them in the trash. I finally resorted to tearing the bun into pieces and just eating the pieces that had some tender flesh still attached. The few pieces of fish I had that were tender was breaded nicely, the fries were uneventful but okay and the slaw had just a touch of sweet. Just go for the giant fish sandwich, not sure how they make any money with the amount of fish on this thing. I'm 6'2",250 lbs and I have trouble eating the whole thing. Tried their wings and asked for hot, they came through with a special hot sauce, not lightening how but the hottest I've found in Florida so far. I'd come back just for the sandwich but will be adding chicken wings on the side. You won't be able to finish it al but the wings may have been better warmed up in the oven. read more
