After the party they threw out all of the cake. We didn't have a tea or station or coffee or cups at all and we had to scramble and run to get coffee and cream and sugar and cups. They threw all the bread out on top of the tables at the end of the night. We gave them aluminum pans because we had extra food and those guys just threw it out. Appetizers were never brought to us as we discussed while we were getting ready for pictures and instead they gave them to us after all the food was brought out. All the plastic boxes were piled up on the dance floor next to the DJ for everyone to see and we had to wait thirty minutes for them to put stuff away so we can walk onto the dance floor so the bridal party could be announced and before we could seat to eat. Before the party they threw all the garbage on the grass right outside of the tent and we saw piles of garbage as we walked outside in the morning. Overall very disappointed and I feel like I was not provided what was discussed and paid for and the service was terrible. The company responded when I told them about all this and said they were basically not responsible for the staff because it was a different company but I would have to come in or since I'm out of town have a phone conference with them (and waste more of my time) and they will take it out of their paychecks but that I shouldn't punish the dishwashers. How dare they make me feel guilty about their screw up!? They said in the email that they would send me a check but over a month later still no check and no response to emails or phone calls. If they say they took it from the staff they contracted and since they didn't return it to me, looks like they might have just kept it.

HOWEVER two weeks after our tasting we had trouble communicating with the catering end. When we finally heard from them they said they had to talk to the Private Venues owners and would call us back. Very reasonable- A week after not hearing from them we called and spoke to Jessica. She was completely rude on the phone telling us she had some notes about our event , after she seemingly found the "notes" she informed us they DIDNT HAVE THE WAIT STAFF to help us. Since they use a third party to serve and "people have other jobs" and couldn't do it that day. The date , size and location of my event was the same when I had my tasting , and when I started this process. I have now wasted an entire month going through the menu , and trying food they won't even serve for us?!? Obviously she had gone out of her way to write notes about how they couldnt help us , but failed to actually CALL US and INFORM US of said notes so we could find other more reliable sources. If they couldn't accommodate a party of this size on a certain day , why were we not informed before even going for a tasting? If there are notes about the reasons they aren't going to perform a service for us why were we not informed immediately ? Please note this was a 45 person party , not a 200 person gathering. I have never experienced anything so unprofessional.

However, we were sorely disappointed with the catering experience that followed. I don't like to write negative reviews and will do my best to be balanced. Overall the reception food was good, though some items bland or over baked & the meat portions small compared to what we had sampled. The sliced beef was as tender & delicious as ever. All got eaten quickly, except for some salad & rice, even though the servers controlled portions by spooning food onto each guest's plate. It made me glad we paid for 5 adults who didn't come, or some would have gone hungry! We paid for 5 servers. Only 4 came. Apparently Cathy would have been the 5th, but she cut her finger earlier that week & chose not to come. By contract, they were to serve "a separate tray of apps for wedding party." By the time I noticed they failed to do so, only 1 of 2 appetizers was left. Incidentally, if 1 appetizer ran out so quickly, I suspect the portion allotted per person was scanty. We contracted for 2 separate buffet lines so our 130+ guests could be fed quickly. Her staff set up only 1. I objected, but Cathy only sent enough chafers for them to do a single line! So all were served at half the anticipated pace & the entire evening's schedule delayed as a result. By contract the caterer should bus tables and clean up all areas utilized, yet the venue owner had never seen her place left such a mess. She called them back from the parking lot to do additional cleanup. Even so, trash remained on tables & the cake cutting area was left a mess of crumbs. Four days later, I emailed Cathy describing these issues & others regarding slow and poor service that I don't have space to mention here, & requested a refund for the server who didn't show. She apologized profusely for the way things went & mailed a refund for the 5th server plus an additional sum that amounted to about 2% of the total bill. I suppose this was meant to compensate for not meeting the terms of the contract.

I will say upon checkout Richard was nice , but we only saw him about 5 minutes, just long enough to check out. The breakfast which used to be quite good was really terrible this time. Even if you got there before they opened, the bacon was either flabby or burnt and that was the best thing offered besides a basic bagel or toast. Sausages cold and do were eggs and potatoes. Not even edible. One bite of each and it was over. The hotel is located close to some good restaurants, so we made it work. That staff was even less friendly and that was not the case on prior visits. The room was nice as always though someone banged hard on our door in the middle of the night. We did not open the door, but think it was just some rowdy teenagers ( what we could see thru the peephole).The rooftop restaurant and bar was closed for an event. Having said all that, we still love the location. Hope the front desk staff receive some customer service training and all will be well. I'm friendly and really get irked when people act like I'm putting them out with a simple question.
